Awesome place for beer inside the Food Lab in downtown Riverside. The beertenders are always friendly and quick with service. They can do flights of 4 beers if you want to try a variety, and they rotate their draft and bottle list selections weekly. They had a Russian River Brewery Tap Takeover during the Super Bowl weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had both Pliny the Elder (Double IPA on draft and bottle) and Pliny The Younger (Triple IPA on draft- limited to 1 order per ID), both rated one of the top beers in the world. To give context on how rare it is, Pliny the Younger is only released once a year in Windsor and Santa Rosa at the Russian River Brewery locations, and people wait in line as early as 5 am in the morning to be able to be one of the first to purchase this legendary beer. Definitely can't waste an opportunity to try Pliny the Younger when presented to you! read more

Resembling a concrete neighborhood pub, Beerfarm has grown on me since the Riverside Food Lab opened over Labor Day Weekend in 2018. Did you know that they have an app that displays current handles and quantities remaining like their monitors behind the bar? The varieties of craft beers are often drawn from California breweries (sadly no Pliny the Elder so far), but I'm also thrilled to see regular stocking of Bell's beers, especially the Two-Hearted Ale, from Michigan. The atmosphere is quite loud because the acoustics are bad, however, if you order food from any of the vendors in the Lab, they have no problem with you eating it at the bar. If the bar isn't your thing they can pour into plastic cups and you may sit anywhere inside or on the patio. Over all, Beerfarm is a welcome addition to the fast-growing downtown scene and they're open later than the restaurants. Although pricy, occasional visits should fit almost any budget. read more

Watermelon beer ... Its started as the sun was setting on the day I was on my way to meet a woman for a first date. Rounding the corner to the Food lab I noticed, "wow downtown Riverside is packed today" and as I got to the food lab I noticed a hoard of people heading to the Fox theater, fast forward... I park my car and walk into the food lab to see an invasion of people all over the place, slamming their faces to their hearts content and filling every sit in the place except the sits at the beer Farm, so we take a sit to join this face stuffing Ritual ourselves with a cool beer... but to our surprise when the bartender read the beers the word "WATERMELON" took us by surprise... yes, watermelon beer, and yes it was actually pretty amazing! Smooth and yet flavorful. I'm not sure if it's cool for men to drink fruit flavored alcohol yet but I don't care... I love it! But here's where things get interesting, the staff was so nice and attentive, not just to us but everyone and with them being so nice I asked if we could go get some food and come back to order more beers. They said sure... long story short... we eat the food outside, she needed to go home and I left without paying! But most importantly, they serve top-tier craft beers, not just any random craft beers. When I visited, Hen House, Tired Hands (HOW!?), Pizza Port, Green Cheek, Beachwood, and more were on tap. One awesome thing about this spot is they have A LOT of local craft beers on tap, which I love!! They have wicks, route 30, Ritual, Hanger, Garage and others, which is pretty cool to see. #supportlocal Their beers are very affordable, for a 16oz pour, it's about 6-7 dollars and their tasters are about 3 dollars. The service is pretty good too. this is definitely a cool spot to hang out if you're in the area, but dont drive out of your way...there are other cool tap rooms in different areas that have a chiller vibe.
