Is it just me or a lot of Mexican restaurants incorporating some kind of Asian flair to their meals now. I've been noticing a lot of birria ramen lately at Mexican restaurants. Not complaining as I love both. This was a first time for me here. We were in the area and were walking around trying to find someplace for lunch. In downtown on Main Street, there wasn't much options to choose from as a lot of the places seemed to be closed or not open till later. We saw this place which there was 2 other guest on the patio but it was open. Checked out the menu but the birria ramen sign caught my attention. The restaurant itself isn't that big. Main seating area is on the patio which looks out to the boardwalk. Perfect for people watching. The waitress that took care of us was a major doll. Very sweet and friendly. Don't remember her name. Food wise, they had a good amount of your traditional dishes. I saw the ramen sign and that's what was ordered. Also the chicken quesadillas. Chips and two different kind of salsas was brought out to start. It could be a hit or miss on them but I can say it was a hit with these. Both of the salsas were quite tasty and had a nice spicy kick to it. Food, the chicken quesadillas were quite thick in the way it was prepared. Rolled and almost in a burrito formed and sliced for easy eating. Nice big chunks of chicken and a good amount of cheese. Came with a side of sour cream, guacamole and fresh jalapeño slices. Plus rice and beans which we opted just for rice. And of course the birria ramen. A decent size bowl with a very good amount of meat. Topped with red onion and cilantro. The broth was good. Flavor, it was decent and seasoned well. Overall, it was decent but the potions or meat made a difference. Food was quite nice and tasty. Stopped by Fire Up in downtown Riverside for brunch and had a great experience. The brunch menu has a lot of solid options, everything we tried was really good. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the manager Mark made sure everything was on point, which definitely stood out. The coffee was excellent too--really smooth, and the lattes were spot on. This place was cool. GREAT STAFF. There's a Hawaiian guy here who seems to be bar captain pushing out some great flavors on the fly. It's packed and seating is limited. I got a variety of hand foods but the Birria ramen sticks out as a good buy. When I had hit the spacey zone, the twilight zone, the Birria ramen grounded me and brought me back. This spots located in downtown Riverside, walking distance from the Arcade Downtown and right across Center for the Arts. Solid place for brunch--chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, chicken + waffles, and more. We ordered chilaquiles, menudo, churros and café de olla (traditional Mexican coffee). It was packed, but we were seated in under 10 minutes. I don't know if it was rain, but my favorite part of the meal was the café de olla. It was perfectly warm and sweetly spiced. I could smell the cinnamon before first sip. The staff was friendly. The menudo was good, and churros were yummy. The chilaquiles were okay--I was hoping for crispier chips. My girlfriend and I stopped here to charge our Tesla at the charging station next door. What was supposed to be a quick intermission between our business trip became a pleasant experience thanks to our waiter Eric. I just tried Fire Up's new little coffee spot, Cafecito, and what a lovely surprise it was! I ordered the Spanish latte with vanilla cold foam, and you can truly taste the quality. They use real vanilla bean, and you can even see the tiny specks in the foam, which made it feel extra special. The drink was perfectly balanced not too sweet, just smooth and delicious. Ashley was such a sweetheart and really helped me decide by asking all the right questions about what I like. It's so nice when someone takes the time to make sure you get exactly what you want. I also grabbed some lunch to go, and they included complimentary chips and salsa, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. Little things like that really make a difference. Minutes later a flaming tray arrived with the most beautifully decorated agua frescas... watermelon... piña... cucumber limón... and an incredible horchata with coconut crème. That horchata stole the show especially with the mazapán rim. We raved about it so much that Darren brought us another one on the house And to top it all off... we were shocked at how reasonable the bill was for such a massive and high quality spread From the food to the service... Fire Up Bar & Grill absolutely delivered. If you've been sleeping on this place like we had... wake up and get here for brunch! My only constructive feedback (and this is in no way a complaint to the restaurant) but the city had power washers out causing racket while they cleaned the sidewalks out front. This place was truly AMAZING!! I had only ever been here for drinks and was really excited to try the food this time! We came as a party of 4 on a Friday night around 7/7:30pm. The restaurant itself only has a smaller sized covered patio to sit on and it was pretty full. They also have a bar inside if you are feeling that vibe more than sitting and dining. Our server was really friendly and even tried her best to learn/speak Spanish for my boyfriend's parents (who only spoke Spanish) -- and that was really cool of her to do, most people don't even try! When the food came out, it was SO DELICIOUS. My boyfriend and I were able to share the fajita plate and his parents were able to share the Molcajete (and we still had left overs to take home to eat the next day)! Everything was very flavorful and, overall, the place had great vibes. The only downside was that it took a while for us to get our food and we even watched other tables around us get food before us even though they sat down after us. But, again, it was a busy Friday night and our dishes may have just had things that took longer to make/put together. It's a very lively place with music and a dj playing a good mix of (loud) music! The food is good and the drinks looked better but I didn't drink any so I wouldn't know. But if you want a crowd, and music this is for you. Otherwise go down the street to Tio's- their food is delicious and there's a bunch of cool artwork to see (if you're into that kind of thing). I thought they were a little bit on pricey side until my food came out. So honestly, you get a lot of food for the price.. our meal was delicious. We ended up taking food home. The DJ was awesome and loud. The atmosphere was really laid-back and you just enjoy yourself. Listen to the music. Talk to whoever you want to or more or less shout across the table. I've seen other reviews but giving my honest review. I enjoyed myself. Food was delicious now drinks on the other hand. I felt were a little bit of a waste. It should've been called a fruit punch instead of a drink with alcohol, but I'm still not knocking them because our second drink was a beer and you can't go wrong there.
