Anytime I'm in Downtown Riverside, my first stop is always Copper Goat. Their coffee is just consistently good. I usually stick with my go to, sweet shaken espresso (still fantastic, by the way), but this time I branched out and tried one of their new featured drinks. I went with the salted honey macadamia latte, and it was definitely interesting in the best way. It hits that sweet and salty balance, and the saltiness grew on me with each sip. My flavor profile usually leans sweet when it comes to espresso, so if you're someone who loves a little salty contrast, this one's worth trying. We also grabbed some mini bomboloni cream pastries, which we were told were imported from Italy, and they were delicious. They reminded me a bit of beignets, and the cream filling was fantastic. I did get a cronut too, but that one missed the mark for me. It was a little stale and harder than expected. I was hoping for that crispy, flaky bite. Overall, Copper Goat is still one of my favorite stops in the area, especially for coffee.

This place was so classy and cozy. I loved their seating and the service. The staff was well knowledgeable on their pastries and coffee and took their time with my order. I came in for their cherry affogato but it was not available so they offered me a pistachio affogato , and I love pistachio, so this was a perfect alternative for me. They even let me keep my glass cup which was real nice of them . The seating area has two areas and it feels very relaxed. There was no restroom though.

Place was amazing! I've tried out this place before and it was good but they've upgraded so many things which just took this store to a whole new level. I was lucky enough to get Rocky as my barista and she was just so wholesome:) she gave me and my friend a photo opp and was ready to fix our drinks to our liking if we didn't like it which I've never experienced before!! Their pastries were so BOMB, I got the cocoa muffin and it has a really good filling that just tops it off! My friend got their croissant that was just as good!!:) Overall 10/10 experience would definitely recommend and will be going again! (I don't take very good pictures)

I came on my lunch break at 5pm while they were cleaning. Didnt see the closed sign on the floor they politely said they were closed at 4pm and even gave me a free ice coffee for the confusion. Best people best coffee place. So nice and clean. This really warmed my heart today.

Great service & got some coffee knowledge by barista Rockee (forgive me if I spelled that wrong.) They were super helpful & I walked out with some amazing coffee on top of that. Will definitely be returning. I ordered a vanilla latte with a carrot cake bar & it was delicious. As a new coffee drinker I would say this set the bar for me as I prefer a less sweeter coffee & it was just right. "I will be back!" -Terminator

The ambience is bright and welcoming. The service was personal and friendly. We ordered a dragon fruit matcha, sweet shaken espresso, lemon bar, and cannoli chips and dip. The matcha was not overly sweet and the cold foam was fun. The espresso had perfect coffee flavor and was not too sweet. The lemon bar was perfect. And I would drive back out here for the cannoli chips alone. I'm so happy we stumbled upon this coffee shop!!

Amazing service and yummy coffee! I went to Copper Goat today because I love trying out coffee places. Copper Goat did not disappoint. My Iced Honey Lavender Latte was amazing (finished with locally sourced honey) and the owner Ruby was very sweet and lovely. Its a beautiful space. Check it out!

carrot cake and hot maple bourbon vanilla cinnamon latte

This coffee shop is located a block away from Riverside's Mission Inn, on Main Street, within a cove of several shops known as the Emporium. The interior has several tables along the front window and a couple of cushy chairs near the entrance. There are additional tables located just outside the entrance, within the covered area of the Emporium. It's a quiet and comfortable space. I ordered a coffee from their house specialities - a hot maple bourbon vanilla cinnamon latte. I also chose a slice of carrot cake from their small pastry case. The woman taking my order seemed rather glum while the barista was quite pleasant and kind, bringing my order to the comfy chair I was snuggled into (normally they just call your name to pick up at the counter). The carrot cake was very good; moist with an icing that wasn't overly sweet. The espresso was sweetened by the maple and a slight taste of vanilla was discernible. I couldn't detect any bourbon flavor though. I think it got lost amidst all the other flavors; I wondered if perhaps they used bourbon-maple syrup? The light taste of cinnamon was within the foam. It may sound like I had issues with the latte, but on the contrary, I really enjoyed it as it was quite unique.

I tried the iced salted vanilla latte. Coffee was flavorful, but a little too milky for my liking. I would try it again, but next time with an extra shot of espresso. The cafe was clean and had plenty of seating options. They had one worker who was very nice, but felt like she needed someone else with her for safety reasons.

Pains me to give such a low review but this experience was not it. I went right at opening bc Simple Simon didn't have specialty coffee. I was maybe the 3rd order and my drink took over 20 mins. I got the bourbon vanilla cinnamon latte and it was a weak espresso, a little on the sweet side and not even full to the top for the "large" size which is standard 16 oz. $7 They also have a 12 oz for $6.50

Great local coffee shop. The ladies working were friendly and worked quickly to make all the orders as they came in. I had the sweet shaken espresso and a chocolate chip croissant. The espresso hit the spot and gave me the pick me up I needed. The croissant was warm flaky and delicious. There is a large seating area inside and a few spots outside. Would come back again.

Oh my goodness, a partially hidden gem in DT Riverside. This place makes coffee the star with a very strong supporting cast. We had the Salted Vanilla Latte and the Maple Bourbon Vanilla Cinnamon Latte. Service was exceptional and the vibe was relaxing with some nice soft music playing in the background. Would've taken pictures of our lattes, but we couldn't stop sipping. Can't wait for our next coffee adventure discoveries at Copper Goat Coffee. I'm gonna leave a pic anyways.

I absolutely loved coming here. I saw the name was immediately intrigued and getting to read the meaning behind it was great. The coffee was delicious. I mean DELICIOUS. And I had the ube cheesecake which was also amazing. From the staff, to the music, to the vibes, I love this place. Can't wait to come back.

The coffee shop itself is perfect for downtown Riverside--very fitting with the vibe and style. The lady working was very friendly. However, the menu is extremely busy, and you practically need a key to understand what's what or even how to order. Once we ordered, I noticed the ceremonial matcha is made with a handheld electric frother, and the cold foams are premade in jars and simply added on top (not made fresh). When we received our matchas, let's just say it tasted exactly like it looked: mostly milk with very little matcha flavor, topped with subpar cold foam. This is by far the most expensive, worst-tasting matcha I've ever had. I can usually find a way to justify things or give a place some grace, but this was beyond help.

I didn't want to enter any cafe very small/ with petite tables or judgement if I sat down for 1.5 hr to work on my computer. I bought a sausage croissant which was just ok, but still a nice quick breakfast item. I was able to sit in a comfy chair with an outlet source & table to conference in my meeting. I was left unbothered & comfortable the whole time, which I greatly appreciated. There are several lounge chairs, tables & areas to space out to work, read, lounge, etc! I would certainly return another day to try out their coffee menu and those earl grey lavender scones (wish I saw those first!!) The barista was kind & the atmosphere very pleasant!

SERVICE here is VERY BAD!…read more The service at Back to the Grind was genuinely one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've had. While I was in the middle of placing my order, an older gentleman wearing glasses abruptly walked away from me mid-conversation to speak with someone he knew. No acknowledgment, no "I'll be right back," nothing. I was left standing there confused and waiting while they casually chatted amongst themselves. At the same time, my husband approached another employee -- a young woman with very long black hair and a pink bandana (see pic)-- simply to ask for the WiFi password. Without even looking at him, she told him he needed to "buy something first." When he explained that I was already ordering, she repeated herself in a dismissive tone and continued making sandwiches without making eye contact once. What stood out most wasn't just the lack of hospitality, but the overall attitude from multiple staff members. The environment felt cold, dismissive, and inconvenienced by customers being there at all. Ironically, the café advertises community classes like yoga and live meditation classes on the window, yet basic customer service and professionalism seem completely absent. The food itself was fine, which is why this review is specifically about the service experience. Even after how poorly we were treated, I still left a tip because I refuse to match that level of disrespect. Management seriously needs to address the customer service culture here. One rude interaction can happen anywhere -- but multiple employees displaying the same behavior reflects a larger issue.

As far as options go, I think there's a decent selection of more unique syrups for coffees. They do change it up throughout the year. The drinks here are definitely more of a premium price point, but I think they're generally good. On this particular trip, I wanted to try their new syrup flavor (it was some form of orange zest, or something similar?), but noticed my latte had no real flavor in it after a few sips. Upon looking at the receipt, the person who took my order just gave me a regular cafe latte and didn't add the syrup I requested. The coffee was fine, but I would have liked trying something new. I have gotten several of their food options before, and I think that some of them are well-priced for the portion and some can be more on the expensive side. I think the avocado toast was pretty robust and was a good value. The steak and eggs are somewhat hit or miss, and I have had it multiple times. The cut of the meat can be chewy at times, and then also more lean and tender other times. Sometimes it comes with large pieces of chewy fat, which isn't quite to my taste. The sandwich options generally are a good value. I do kind of wish they switched up their menu a bit more often, since this current menu is rather basic and they have had more interesting food options before. Overall, a decent choice for a more premium coffee, tea, and food for the Downtown/UCR area of Riverside. Service is okay, and I have had somewhat mixed experiences with that. The employees generally seem pleasant and they're nice, but I have gotten incorrect orders at least a couple of times. During this particular visit, in which the photos are from, I had to ask two different people to get extra napkins. Our actual server was the first to acknowledge, then possibly forgot and didn't come back.
