I do not like their ciders at all because I think they have a house cider that's flavorless and they add syrups which was not very good. Other than that it's a local spot that gets busy. Would definitely get here with friends as the outside patio seating helps. No lights out there though so it's super dark when it isn't summer and their hours are so early. read more

I'm not a beer drinker, but I highly recommend this place! The food is incredible, and all three burgers are fantastic. The appetizers are also delicious. Almost everything on the menu is great. The only thing I don't like is the mac & cheese - it's just okay for me, but that's just my personal preference. And I wish they had raw or grilled onions instead of pickled onions - I'm not a fan of pickled onions. But those two minor flaws are just my taste buds. The staff is always friendly and super nice. Yelp has been pushing me toward trying Thompsons for quite some time. Suggestions kept popping up. So I decided to pay the place a visit. It didn't take long to formulate an understanding that this visit would be the first of many more to come. It's located in an unassuming building, looking more like Dunder Mifflin than a place to drink and eat. But when entered, its true identity is realized. The place is massive. Seating to the left, seating upstairs, seating in back by the brewery, and outside seating in the back back. Very well organized with walk-up service. Choose a brew, or a flight of brews from an extensive list of beers. I had a White Ale, and then another a few minutes later. It's served as you order. If you're so inclined, you can move on down the line to order food....which I highly recommend. Do I ever recommend it! Everything we ordered was a hit. The Brisket sandwich a hit, as was the Brisket Mac and Cheese. But the homerun was the little cup of bbq pork beans that was served with my Brisket sandwich. They were the absolute best beans that I have ever had. I've been on this earth for almost 65 years and never have I tasted such a delicacy. Judge for yourselves, and you'll see that I'm not exaggerating. Bring the family. There are numerous opportunities for the kids to explore and enjoy....grown up kids too! I was really looking forward to my meal after seeing so many great options on the menu, but unfortunately, both the mozzarella sticks and the so-called "award-winning" burger were major letdowns. The mozzarella sticks were completely bland, and the breading tasted old, almost like it had been left out all day and then re-fried. There was this unpleasant stale taste that just didn't sit right with me. I couldn't even finish them and ended up giving them to my dog. Then came the burger, which was supposedly an "award winner," but to my surprise, it was just as disappointing. The flavors were all over the place, yet somehow, none of them stood out in a good way. It tasted so bland that calling it award-winning felt misleading--honestly, it was more like a participation trophy than something truly deserving of recognition. To actually enjoy this burger, you'd probably have to drink every ounce of alcohol at the brewery first. Safe to say, I won't be coming back. My money is safe. read more

We were aroma the Tyler Mall area rubbing some errands and thought early lunch and we wanted to try out Thompson's Brewery. Location is not in a retail strip mall but rather an industrial building luckily it's not difficult to spot from the road. They're obviously known for their craft beers but their food menus have a lot of cool food items. You can get German style pretzels!!! My son ordered chicken fried steak, our two girls ordered the tater tot breakfast, wife got mozzarella sticks with the house ranch (I'm not a huge fan of ranch dressing but this is packed with spices and flavor). I ordered the Pub burger. My burger was encased in this gorgeous pretzel bun and the layers of flavor from the pickled onions to this creamy sauce made it for a four napkin meal. This burger was stacked pretty high i had to unhinge my jaw just to get a bite in. Staff is chill and friendly and you can from what i saw little tasters of their craft beers. If you're over by Tyler Mall and don't want mail food or corporate chain restaurants it's only a few minutes away and i guarantee you it'll be better than those places. read more

I came during brunch hours to try their chicken fried steak with gravy and was bummed to find out they were completely out of gravy and not offering the dish I came for. That's okay though, it just tells me that the gravy is so good it sold out and I'll have to come back another time for it. So, I had the award winning Pub Burger instead with American cheese, garlic aioli, dill pickles, tomato, lettuce, pickled red onion, and smoked bacon on a pretzel bun with fries. The burger stole the show and was the stand out dish from everything I ordered. The garlic aioli was so good and worked with everything on the burger while the meat and pretzel bun flavor combinations resonated in your mouth. Not only was the burger awesome, the fries were great as well. They were hot, fresh, crispy and absolutely fire when dipped in their ranch sauce. I would hands down come back just for this burger and fries. I can't say as much for the brisket sandwich with white onion, dill pickles and BBQ sauce or the Brisket Mac 'n Cheese. The brisket sandwich was small for $14.50. I can get an entire pound of brisket at Gram's BBQ for $15, so I was surprised at the very small portion. Not only was it small, it was extremely greasy/oily. When I picked the sandwich up and squeezed it to take a bite about six drops of grease dropped out of it and there was grease all over my fingers. The brisket mac 'n cheese was okay, but a little confused in my opinion. It was topped with BBQ sauce, green onion and sour cream. Why did it have BBQ sauce and sour cream? I'd expect green onion and sour cream on a potatoe dish, not mac 'n cheese. The sour cream wasn't bad, it just didn't add anything to the brisket or cheese flavor. To end on a high note, they had an excellent selection of craft beers and my friend highly recommended the tangerine beer. All in all, I'll be back another time to try the pulled pork sandwich and craft burger. read more

I want to make this perfectly clear. I am not a beer drinker. My sneaky husband would taunt me and say, "Try this. It doesn't taste like beer!" Gullible, I would. Ptooey. So why did I come here, a small-time, family-run brewery? Well, we didn't for the 5-some years they have been in existence. And I now have to confess the shameful ignorance of my ways. The suggestion of a Saturday/Sunday brunch is what got my eyebrows to rise. Mind you, brunch hours only last for the first 2 hours, but then I noticed some pretty fine pictures of burgers and some raving reviews. Ahhhh-Pub food? Saturday Brunch- When asked what was a must-try, the first words out of the cashier's (aka owner's) mouth were the Chicken Fried Steak with cream gravy. This is a pre-made, thin steak cutlet that had been coated in a delicious cornmeal coating and then deep-fried to a fabulous crunchy texture. I was skeptical because of my disappointing experiences with vendors trying to pass off substandard versions, but boy was I wrong. What made it over the top was the house-made gravy, a very basic, delicately thickened, cream base, that has been seasoned with salt and pepper only, i.e. no sausage. Glorious! One fried egg topped two cutlets. The yolk ran when I poked it, the white was cooked through and through, exactly the way I prefer. The plate also came with a large pile of tater tots. I thought I was not a tater tot fan, but these were great too: crunchy outside, buttery soft inside. Yes, this was a winner. Mr. B chose their San Fran Burger, served on griddled sourdough bread. The beef patty was large, 7 oz weight, and was topped with Swiss cheese, bacon bits, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and a tasty pink, 1000 Island dressing. This came with a heap of fries. He was quite happy. He also was given some sample tastes before ultimately selecting his beer. No. I did not get conned into tasting it. So here is how their process works. Ordering is done at their counter. You are given a number placard which you place on your table so they can deliver your food to you. You bus your own table. There are four different zones you might choose to sit in. Two dining areas are found inside, one of which is upstairs. The third is in the back where you will be sitting inside the brewery itself, surrounded by shelves loaded with industrial brewing supplies and equipment, and the pyramid pile of stainless steel barrels themselves. The 4th is an outdoor patio area, complete with wooden picnic tables, umbrellas, outdoor heaters, and artificial turf. It overlooks the parking lot of other blue-collar industries that occupy the industrial complex where they are located. Not exactly scenic surrounds, but actually made cozy and delightful thanks to the soft jazz and 40's swing music that was playing in the background and the fact that good dogs are welcomed here. In all, they can easily accommodate 250 customers. Parking is great. My only disappointments were items that are no longer available. Their original, on-tap, craft root beer is no longer available. Pity, I would have loved to have tasted it, but they do serve another small, craft maker's brand that they assured me was very close to their original. This, and other brand-name sodas are self-serve. The other letdown was the noticeably missing display of custom cakes and pastries that reviewers loved and featured in their photos. It seems their daughter was the master baker, and she dared to grow up and move away...to go to school or something. Heartbreaking, I say. But, let's get real. What we tried of their food, was simple pub food and undeniably well executed. The whole vibe is warm, friendly, and uplifting. The list of craft beers was simply mind-boggling. I loved just reading the names even though I knew these would not be for me. And we brought home leftovers, always a plus! This is adult, kid, and dog friendly. There are even some wall mounted TVs for watching sports. Be cognizant, their hours of operation vary, and they are closed Monday and Tuesday. read more

First of all this place is definitely not for beer and/or food. If you want either one of these things please go to other restaurants in the area. In fact Yard House at Tyler Mall will have good beers and food. The overall experience was bad. We entered for the first time here and when ordering the person got our order wrong. We ordered fried chicken with gravy they got us fried beef with gravy. Also I ordered the bbq platter with sausage and some other meats and a roll. When I went and asked for a roll they got all defensive telling me that they DID put the roll in my plate. I said there was no roll in my plate and we were actually waiting for our server to give us the roll. So in anger in front of me, the chef just took a bag of Hawaiian roll (the orange bag) opened it and took a piece of roll and gave it to me like I was some homeless person lol just like that. I thought they would warm it up, but no. The gravy was blend. The food we got was cold. I mean seriously what I don't understand is you have a great ambiance, however you don't utilize that space for better quality of food or beer? It's surprising. Let's talk about their . So if you are into fruity, sour, or more flavored beer then this place MIGHT be for you. If you are into ales, and other dark kind of beers then this place is NOT for you. If I would have gone just for beers I would have given may be 3 stars. They have prickly pear beer. I tried it and it was (as expected) pretty sour. On the flip side, their cookie was phenomenally good. Trust me get that cookie. Overall if these folks can improve their quality of food, service and their beers, I would say I would visit them back in few months and change my review. But they need work. Service was quick and friendly. Food came out pretty quick and was pretty good. I had the Mac and cheese with grilled chicken on top. The Buffalo flavored chicken on top of the Mac was my favorite. Everything was good. It's just the seating, not too much inside, which is fine, but if there's gonna be seating outside, some music and lights would be a nice touch. Solid 3.5 STARS Ordered the Brisket Jam burger, hot mess chicken sandwich, and the American burger. For sides we ordered the fried pickles and truffle fries. Brisket Jam Burger: 6.5/10 I think this burger has a lot of potential. Unfortunately though, it was dry. I think due to their being a lack of any type of sauce, the burger ends up being dry. Further the brisket jam that was on the burger was an interesting touch, and I liked the onions in it, but the actual brisket that's shredded up into the jam, dry the burger out. I think they should make it into a bacon and onion jam instead. That way the jam will actually still be jammy, you'll have the nice onions still, but also a nice little crunch from the bacon. Hot Mess Sandwhich: 2/10 This wasn't very good at all. I rather go to KFC or Popeyes for a chicken sandwhich. American Burger: 8/10 This was a solid classic, delicious burger. The textures and flavors were all balanced and the sauce added a nice touch. Would order this one again. Truffle fries: 7/10 the fries in general from this place were top tier. They were perfectly crispy with a soft interior. They weren't the best truffle fries I've had. But best fries I've had in a while. Fried pickles: 5/10 They were alright. The jalapeno sauce however was so overpowering and incredibly sour. In the end I couldn't finish it. I forgot to do this review so I don't have the photos anymore. We came here with some friends to try out their BBQ and slushy drinks. We came on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. There was seating in the downstairs main kitchen area. There is upstairs seating. The downstairs area has a kids area for young kids to play. The food was okay and wasn't anything special. The slushy drink we wanted to try was not being served on the day we came so we were so disappointed. They have lots of options for beer. Their soda machine was down so we had to get a can soda since we didn't want beer. By the time we were done eating, it started to get busy and rowdy so we decided to leave. Wow! What an amazing local place! We were invited to Thompson Brewing by our neighbors who have lived in Riverside for many years. They love to eat local and are always talking about this place. Well now we know why!! We came in on a Friday close to opening time and it was already getting busy. First Thompson is located close to the 91 freeway in an industrial section. I believe this is so they have room to do all the delicious beer brewing they need to do. Well the location is just perfect. When you walk in, you head straight to the counter to start ordering. I am not a beer person at all but I said I would give it a try. I ordered the tangerine ale, the veggie burger and fries, my hubby got some type of bbq sandwich and the neighbors got their items. One you order, you take your beer and number and find a seat. We sat in the back table area near the brewing supplies. Very comfy and cute! Okay now on the the drinks and food. Beer - whoa! I was totally blown away at how good this beer was. It was smooth, tasted delicious and I had two glasses! Burger - I am not lying when I say this was the best veggie burger I have ever had.
