Best pharmacy ever. Staff are helpful and kind and professional and it's always easy to call and speak to someone right away

Small mom and pop pharmacist that should be a neighborhood gem but instead is marred by rude and dismissive customer service at the checkout counter. No "hello", even though I greeted him. No "thank you" or "goodbye", just grunting at me to press some button on the tap to pay and then finally begrudgingly using actual words to tell me what it is he wanted me to do. This is the second time I've been there with the same bad feeling coming out due to the disrespect I received, and this will be the last time. Nice job, all you had to do was be courteous but I guess that was too much. read more

I wanted to support this drug store and went in to buy some things instead of heading to cvs or duane reade, knowing things here would be more expensive. So I go and buy 3 items which were around $26 total. She rings up one item and it comes up as more then the tag, so I point out that it was $xx and not $xx. Her response was "oh it's priced wrong" and proceeds to remove the tag. I was feeling a little annoyed because her attitude was unpleasant, and she just expected this to be OK, so I said to her, "hey, it is okay this time, but just so you know, it is actually illegal to sell at a higher price then the tag". She grimaced and ignored me, instead of apologizing for bait and switching me. Next, she rings up the two other items and tells me my total is $45 and change. I said "How is this $45?" She doesn't even answer me, looks at the stuff and says "I will ring it up again". The total comes to $26 and change, so I pay and then I say "thank you" and she looks at me like I am a cockroach or something, with such digust. People, this store does not care about their customers, they only care about money, they price gouge, bait and switch, and are RUDE when called out on it. read more

I love this pharmacy and their staff. I have lived around the corner from it for 8 years now and I would prefer to go to this pharmacy over a Duane Reade or CVS any day. I have gotten to know the employees over the years and they are kind and personable. They actually care about their customers and want to help. Even when I have run into insurance issues they have helped me. They are the best and I love how they add to the neighborhood. read more

This is an overpriced pharmacy with a rude pharmacist and incompetent staff. I like to shop "small", but Thomas Drugs is the best advertisement for large chain retail I've yet to encounter. I'll go to one of the many nation-wide pharmacies in the area from now on rather than spend my money here. You'd be wise to do the same! read more

Small store on the UES, with a strange mix of products for its size. It's small, really small. Yet they have a small selection of office/school supplies, I just found it odd. Sorry to be stuck on small. I did ask for assistance in finding an item, and as another reviewer said I was told and pointed to where it may be. I couldn't spot it with the instructions given, so the man behind the counter with some effort to get out from behind the counter got up and took me to it. I'm going to guess is that it isn't the lack of wanting to be helpful, it's the difficultly of getting out from behind that counter that's the issue. Prices are not small, it's a convenience. Although, on a hot day a buck for a bottled water isn't bad, a small bottle. Ugh, there's that word again. read more

It's a small store. You would hope for customer service. There is none. You ask where something is and they do like every other big store and point you go in the back we're going to the right. Then you wind up looking at 400 things on the shelves. Then I call to have my prescription switched from CVS. I asked the guy To please call CVS and take care of the transfer and opening a new account. He tells me he's too busy. I also buy disinfectant wipes in there. They are online for six or seven dollars. But because they're unavailable online he's tripling are quadrupling the price. They were 2199 for 110 wipes. Reliable, Friendly, Fast & Super Convenient!!! Life saver in the pandemic!! Thomas Drugs has been my neighborhood pharmacy for years; I will never go anywhere else. They seem to have my prescriptions ready immediately & greet me by name when I call. Best service I have ever received. Pharmacists & staff are incredibly knowledgeable & everyone is very helpful. They stock hard to find products, CBD, masks, etc. Not only is it the best pharmacy in the UWS, it is one of the few surviving small neighborhood pharmacies in the NYC. This review is very hard for me to write about. My family and I have been customers at Thomas Drugs for 15 years. Whenever I needed something, this was my go to drug store. One day, I was very sick and needed prescribed medication. Unfortunately Thomas Drugs was closed at the time, so I walked a couple more blocks to the local CVS. For 15 years, I was under the impression that my brand name medication normally costs 45 dollars, AFTER the insurance deduction. When I went to CVS, I was shocked to find that it was FREE of charge with my insurance. I asked the pharmacist, "how come it's free? Isn't it 45 dollars after the payment by my insurance?" The pharmacist gave me a strange smile, "Ma'm, you do know that this drug sells at $45?" Then he asked, "who is your regular pharmacist?" As it turns out, Thomas Drugs was performing insurance fraud. My insurance pays in FULL for this particular drug, and for 15 long years I have been dishing extra money to this scam artist. While Thomas Drugs charged me the full 45$ for this medication, they were also charging my insurance company the SAME amount. ALL THIS TIME, I was under the impression that my insurance only covered 50% of the cost of this drug. It turns out my insurance covered it ALL. When I confronted them about this revelation, they quickly shunned me away and told me to take my business elsewhere, not before insulting me of course. I don't like to share such an embarrassing experience, but I want to help you, the reader. Please be careful about this store, or better yet, avoid it all together. If you choose to do business here, PLEASE BEWARE that they may be charging you extra for the drugs your insurance company covers. Just go to the CVS. 2/25/2020 I am a great supporter of mom & pop establishments, so it pains me to say that I was treated in a shockingly misogynist way by the pharmacist, who I believe is also the owner. Please avoid this place and patronize another nearby mom & pop drug stores instead. To know what happened, please read on: I gave the pharmacist the prescription for my partner, along with his driver license for ID validation. He had previously signed up to receive meds here, i.e. had given his insurance card and was input into their system. Yet the pharmacist refused to explain his insistence that I go home and get his insurance card. The very nice young man behind the counter tried to ask him why too, but he wouldn't answer. My partner was in serious pain, and I was concerned about further delay by starting over elsewhere, so I told him I'd get it and return asap. When I returned, he hadn't even started to prepare the medication, and when I asked him to please do it, his reply was to ignore me and start to wait on someone else! I interrupted in protest, reminding him my partner is in pain. He retorted by first accusing me of "panicking," and I remember his next words exactly: "If you don't behave you can't be a customer here." I was dumbfounded. He finally explained that my partner's information had been entered incorrectly into their system, hence needing his card again, yet offered no apology for the error or delay this caused, or his refusal to explain earlier. Medication finally in hand, I raced home in tears. Of course we'll never go there again, neither will our neighbors, and I hope you won't either. Please do support other neighborhood mom & pop establishments (there are some nice ones nearby), but not this one! Thanks for reading. read more

Thomas Drugs is continuing a tradition of being a family style neighborhood retail drug store with reasonable prices and excellent service. We have been customers there for years. The Pharmacist and people at the cashier counter are unfailingly helpful, courteous and well spoken. It is especially pleasing to see the young people who work there at the register, they are so intelligent and sympathetic! The entire staff - including the Pharmacists- appear to remember everybody and everything. It is a pleasure to be a customer there, it appears to be a family operation. Scam artists, please please do not go here. I've got my drugs here for over 20 years and only realized last year they were charging me full price for my medication. They were scamming me for years, thank god I went to a CVS and figured out my 20$ medication was FREE. These guys are hacks and scammers avoid them. read more

I had a bad experience here. I bought a $7 tube of hand cream, and went back two days later, (with receipt), and asked to exchange it for another, ( I wanted a fragrance free cream) They refused, saying that I removed the price sticker, (big effing deal, just put on a new one), and that I had obviously used it, ( I compared it to a tube from the shelf, and they both looked exactly the same), I pointed this out, and they still refused me, saying the supplier would not take it back, what kind of bull is that, they could just put it back on the shelf and sell it! I have never been treated like this by any store I do regular business with, any of them would have gladly done an exchange for me! These are really petty, tight fisted people! And by the way, when I told them that I wouldn't shop there again, their response was, "good"! Is that any way to treat a steady customer?! read more

It's great to have a local pharmacy in a neighborhood overrun by chains. The pharmacist knows his customers, is knowledgeable, and gives good advice. And it's amazing what a diverse range of products this tiny store offers, and staff are happy to place orders for anything they don't have. During the corona virus pandemic staff thoughtfully took orders and credit card info over the phone and packaged the order, so that this customer could quickly run in and out of the store. read more

Ever wonder the grumpiest people in Manhattan work? Here! They work at this place! I'll give it 3 stars for being convenient, stocking the basics (Advil, overpriced shampoo, tampons, toothpaste) and because they have a pharmacy that can usually turn around prescriptions quick, but other than if you're in a bind, head elsewhere. Prices seem overblown and like I mentioned, the people working there aren't helpful and seem rather miserable. Weird place. read more
