This little pharmacy is jam packed with everything you could possibly need. The staff is always at work organizing and adding items in the aisles. But my rave is for Telly and the Pharmacist in the back. They have such integrity about seeing that you get what you need, even it gets complicated as it did for me today. Atrocious, condescending, offensive, sarcastic customer service. The following is part of an email exchange concerning a concern/complaint, between one customer service representative that took place today. I redacted my name and his name, and the name of the product replacing it with a generic description. "Hello, I do not understand why you refunded the 'name of product' Soap. There were TWO (2) available when I purchased it. That was THE soap that I wanted, and only added the 'second soap name' from my wish list to get the free shipping. Can I not count on your website inventory to be accurate?? If we cannot, why should anyone shop your web site?? Can you contact the manufacturer to get one for me?? Most sincerely yours, a very good, wholly disappointed customer," Response from Pasteur: "Hi (my name)! We apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, The item is out of Stock. Unfortunately, we won't longer carry (product name) Soaps. My reply: "Mr. (Cust Rep name), You did not answer my questions. I spent a LOT of money with your company and this the response I receive? I respectfully would request that your refer my questions, concerns, and complaint up to a manager who will appropriately address these issues! If you are a supervisor, I would like to receive an appropriate response addressing my concerns from a manager. Additionally, why would you stop carrying (Soap brand name) soaps? Their products get very good reviews on the various shave forums to which I belong. That does not make sense. Thank you." Pasteur Rep. reply, "Hello (my name), I want to confirm that I addressed your concern correctly. Regrettably, the product is currently unavailable. We are unable to control issues such as damages, breakages, or missing items on our shelves, or the fact that the item did not meet the quality standards for customer delivery. This is why we are currently out of stock. Regarding item (soap brand), both parties have agreed to proceed with the partnership until further notice. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused." My response, "Mr, (Cust rep name), Your title says "Customer Service Representative." I specifically requested that you pass my concerns to a manager for a response. Additionally, your answer was another deflection. I want to speak with someone else. If you do not forward this to a manager for an appropriate response, I will call the store tomorrow and ask to speak to one and will convey my dissatisfaction. The only positive part of your message was that you will continue to carry (soap brand) shave products." The same Pasteur 'Customer Service Rep's response to me: "Hi (my name)! Awesome. Have a great day!" The exclamation points were the customer service reps. I have not added anything to his responses. They are all his own This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered!! This is posted as a WARNING to potential customers of what to expect if you have any concerns/complaints and ask to communicate with someone higher. read more

The customer relations, terrible. I ordered 3 times from them on-line. There was an issue with my last order and contacted them using the on-line customer's service. My reply from customer service was condescending and arrogant and did NOT resolve anything. No customers should be treated with disrespect, they should be happy they made a sale and 3 more repeat purchases and have a repeat customer, now they don't. read more

I live in the neighborhood and I am so appreciative of the existence of this Pharmacy. They have almost every product from around the world for hair, skin care, soaps, lotions, medication's, etc. The pharmacy in the back is very small but if you speak to them they are very friendly and will help you with anything that you need. It is a very crowded store and you need to look I'll buy I'll but if you ask, they will help you and frankly during Covid they were the most helpful out of anybody in entire neighborhood. I am very thankful for them and purposely transferred all of my prescriptions to them instead of the larger conglomerates like CVS and Walgreens because I do not want the small business to go out of business ever. If you live in the neighborhood and can do the same, I suggest that you do. We need to keep these small businesses in our neighborhoods alive well and open.! read more

Went there yesterday around 5:15pm to pick up a few things & overheard 2 workers in the back (One delivery man wearing a green vest sitting on the floor packing a bag & the other guy with a gray tee restocking shelves next to him) speaking Spanish saying how much they hate/can't stand gay men as well as other homophobic slurs. They must've thought I didn't speak Spanish so they were talking as if no one could understand them. Totally unprofessional & discriminating. Will not be shopping there again. read more

This is the place for safety razor blades and premium shaving soaps and lotions. They import a wide variety of blades beyond Wilkinson (which dull too fast in my opinion). Additionally, I like Trumper's shaving products from England, but my last buy from Big Jeff was counterfeit. So I paid a bit more here, got it that day, and it wasn't bogus. read more

A neighborhood pharmacy, which deserves a drop in if you live in neighborhood. Very funny scene behind pharmacy counter. At least one set of twin women work there and are always willing to give their opions to the pharmacists and customers. Old fashioned, excellent service..pick up or delivery. They wiil be happy to call Dr offices for refills, etc. Give them all your business if close by. The Duane Reade across the street has long lines and unfriendly staff. And the Rite Aid in GCT is the worst stocked and managed store I have seen. I really hate the service at all chain pharmacies. Go Pasteur! read more

Floor-to-ceiling shelving filled - packed - with all the little joys of a For Real pharmacy. Specialty products out the wazoo, including the largest selection of shave creams I've ever seen. (A number of other places that loudly claim men's grooming products among their specialties don't hold a candle to Pasteur.) A typical visit: "Hmmm, I bet Pasteur has Marvis toothpaste." This is one of the best pharmacies in the city on two levels. One is, there is every type of product in here from the chi-chi French baby brand Mustela to the full range of Tweezerman to an obscure and inexpensive L'Oreal hair conditioner. When I thought that my favorite hair gel, Paul Mitchell Styling Glaze was discontinued bec. I couldn't find it anywhere, here it was! This is one of those small stores that are literally stacked to the ceiling with product. The second level I don't enjoy anymore, but I used to work close to here, and they would deliver my prescriptions to my workplace. Old-skool NYC service for a tiny pharmacy; I'm not sure but I think this place is family-owned and run. If not, all the people appear to either talk as if they do, or have worked for so long together, they might as well be. They are always super nice and still give you your purchases in paper bags that say Pasteur Pharmacy on them, the crinkly white ones with the zigzag top-edge. read more

While wandering to and fro in midtown searching for the tools to revive my new 1922 Gillette Double Edged Safety Razor, an off-label blog post suggested Pasteur Pharmacy. How right that post was! And what a Mecca this is for men's double edge or straight razor shaving. Shall we start with the tools?--From the futuristic Merkur stainless steel safety razors made by (no doubt clean shaven) trolls busy at their numerically controlled forges in Solingen, to the more imperial Parker razors, to $25 Indian specials, Pasteur Pharmacy has an entire wall dedicated. Blades? The infinitely sharp Feather from Japan, Russian Astra, to Gillette Ultra Thins made in Vietnam--all of them and all brands in between. Shaving soap and badger brushes? Get ready to drop some serious money for the finest tea oil, eucalyptus, coconut fat, penguin tallow shave soaps and the brushes to apply them. After shave? Get ready...solid alum blocks from India and bottle upon bottle of after shave lotions and creams. Of course, Pasteur is a pharmacy and does sell medications. Yet if one can get such pleasure from a wafer thin leaf of steel, soap and a brush, do your really need to walk all the way to the back of their store to fill the prescription? read more

I recently got into wet-shaving. Rather than the goop that I had been shaving with for the last 10 years of my life, I turned to methods that our fathers and grandfathers shaved with. Why is this relevant? Pasteur carries a huge selection of shaving creams, soaps, oils and aftershaves. Not the crap stuff like Gillette foams, and the likes (they sell that too, but...), but real shaving creams. This switch has been a life changing experience. I look forward to shaving now, rather than the dread it used to have. With Pasteur in the area it is easy to pick up a new cream, like a lime or lavender or my current sandalwood scent. The selection here really is top notch. The store is tiny though. They probably has 2 times the inventory for the space. Oh well, it is New York, what do you expect? read more

Came here for the pharmacy. My doctor's office called it in and said it was actually ready by the time I left the doctor's office. Got there and told them my name and the guy spoke to the pharmacist and no reply, so I stand there in front of the tiny counter and other regulars come in and they get helped while I'm just standing there. Eventually I asked how much longer and when told 5 minutes left to peruse their aisles. Then when my meds were ready, no consultation at all, zero. I was told the directions are all in the bag. Came across this pharmacy randomly and decided to walk in to pick up some items and fill a prescription. Wow! First thought, it's a little cramped. Second look, damn they have a TON of stuff I thought I could only purchase from Amazon.com! The pharmacy is in the back of the store and if you thought the front of the store was crowded, it gets worse back here especially when there's a line. The pharmacy there is terrible. My vet has called in prescriptions for my pet and they were never ready on time. The pharmacists or techs stand around talking to each other or ignore the customer. I wish I didn't have to give them any stars. The service was zero stars each time I went there. Also, I noticed they were eating in the same area as filling prescriptions, which was gross. Glad I will never have to go there again. If Im going to spend a lot of money on my pet, I'd at least like to be waited on promptly and not ignored. A personal care center for the modern man. A few years ago as a goof I bought some shaving cream for $20 bucks from Loccitane. I loved it. It had a talcum scent that i thought was much more agreeable than the usual WD-40 wintergreen aroma that I got from the Gillette or Barbasol stuff. So, this $20 buck tube of shaving cream got me hooked, making me a user ever since but I realized that there was a world of 'supremely better things' out there. I got a Neil Gaiman Neverwhere vibe but without the Gothic creepiness. If you already know about these things, great! If you don't but wish to broaden a small corner of your horizon, just dip your toe into the calm warming waters of the 'supremely better things' at Pasteur Pharmacy. Yay! My first review on Yelp :) I was looking for a brand of shampoo that I could not find in any other store/pharmacy and store just happened to have it! Since it's only my first time, I can't really say whether they are awesome with their services in the long run. But, they've made a really good impression on me since they have the product that I am looking for and the staff was really nice. They were really helpful and polite. If you're looking for a beauty product/hair care anything that you found online and can't wait for shipping to get it, you might as well try this store.They will probably have it in their shelf. Pasteur Pharmacy is a paradise for the wet shaver and you will not find an extensive collection like this anywhere in the world. The customer service is above and beyond anything that I have ever encountered, very friendly staff, and the owner is a super nice guy who loves the traditional wet shave himself. I was in NYC about a month ago and was determined to go to Pasteur Pharmacy @ Lexington at 62nd or Cambridge Chemists for traditinal shaving supplies. I stopped at Pasteur first because of their rep for decent prices. I never made it to Cambridge. Every shaving product I had ever heard of (and many I had not) was stacked almost literally to the ceiling. Prices were competitive with on-line and the staff was knowledgable and helpful. They had samples of most as well. My only problem was that I bought a lifetime supply of different products. If you live in a place with sparse Traditional Shaving retail products (just about everywhere) the joy of being to handle the product, ask questions, and browse can't be match. I can't recommend Pasteur enough. It's a little cramped. read more

There is a woman named Maggie at the pharmacy who is disrespectful. The pharmacy had my number and rx from my ENT on a Friday. I had to call them Monday when my ENT gave me their number to determine where my rx was. Maggie yelled at me and demanded my insurance information. I called back in an hour and was told it was ready. My daughter got there Tuesday and called me stating it was r ready and I could Maggie in the background yelling. When she and I spoke she was still rude and still yelling. I called asking to speak to a manager and was told he wasn't in. Maggie then threw the bag (3 liters of medication) at my daughter. Maggie you need a new job or to find that "happy place". Please do better and lose the attitude. I'll be using a different pharmacy going forward. Bye bye. read more
