Recently I'd ordered two bottles of Extra Strength Antacid Tablets from CVS, when I had a discount coupon. Unfortunately their expiration date is just several months from now, and meanwhile each bottle has 250 pills (admittedly the suggested dosage is 3 pills at-a-time, but still....). There's no way we'd consume anywhere near 500 of those pills by their expiration date, so I wanted to exchange them for bottles that have a more reasonable expiration. Today I had to be just one block from this store for a medical appointment, and fortunately there were (only) two bottles available - and their expiration date was *much* more generous. I went to the cashier's counter, and the cashier explained that she needed to have a supervisor handle the exchange (and I'd brought my receipt with me). The shift supervisor was inexplicably *nasty*, and from the very beginning. Meanwhile; she told me she couldn't do an "even exchange" because the flavor was different than the ones I'd purchased (?!) - so she said I'd have to return the ones I'd bought and then purchase the other ones. I told her that I'd used a discount coupon when making the purchase, whereas a "new" purchase would *not* provide the discount. She continued being nasty and suddenly disappeared, and then she *finally* reappeared many minutes later. At that point she told me she'd confirmed with the store manager what she'd told me - but she should have had the courtesy to at least tell me why she was suddenly leaving, and her nastiness was totally inexcusable. Now I'm going to contact the CVS Customer Service Department, but I shouldn't have to waste so much time re: this situation - and most importantly, CVS shouldn't have an employee who's so nasty. (The only reason why I'm giving two stars instead of one is because a very pleasant employee helped me find the location of the pills). read more

Convenient location, clean, and well organized. They do have lots of stuff locked up, so that's a pain. And the prices are crazy high. Sure, you get discounts if you have the CVS Extra Care card, but they expire, so they keep you in the tether of using up your discounts. I'd rather shop small and local, and do so when I can. You would think with Pepsi being headquartered in New York, it would be a little easier to come by, but seemingly every restaurant and/or quick stop has Coke. Traveling the streets of New York, I had built up a thirst, and saw there was a CVS close to Grand Central where i was going to be doing a tour, and grabbed a Mtn Dew and a bag of chips for a quick snack. Easy in and easy out. The store seemed clean, and although I didn't encounter any employees as I used the self-checkout, the interactions I saw seemed positive. I visited this location twice within the last week, and both times, it was pleasurable. You're always immediately greeted by a staffer upon entry, the store is immaculate, and the aisle labels, are clearly visible. Usually I do not care for self check out, but they have about ten stations set-up, and in my last visit, one of my items was on sale with my club card (just entering your phone number) and I was prompted about the sale. This review is for the CVS at 150 E 42d St in midtown Manhattan Like all CVS stores in Manhattan this one seems to assume its customers are the same as its customers in suburban RI -- all driving around in big SUVs, never a worry about how to get something big home (like 3 12-packs of ginger ale, which is the only way you can get a discount, buy three). Never any old person issues The thing that really gets me about THIS store is they no longer have shopping carts, the big ones you push. Ask the guy at the door where they are and he lies that they "are in use by other customers." Big fat lie. The other day I walked around the store to see how many "other customers" were using them ,-- perhaps for 3 12-packs of ginger ale or at least a 12-pack of toilet paper. None. I counted exactly one cart and it was being used by an obese CVS employee who was stocking shelves. Speaking of obese employees, why does a store so eager to use "health" in its name have so many fat employees and so much junk food so near the front door? Have had prescriptions here for years, but am thinking of moving them to another store, one with shopping carts . read more

Staff greets you when you come in, aisles and storefronts are presentable and well kept enough, choice of cashier or check out kiosks, understand that some doors and shelves require anti theft locks, managing prescriptions and coupons through mobile app and free delivery of prescriptions is a plus, pharmacy staff is on point. the pharmacy didn't ask insurance info so I've noticed myself why it's so expensive. They told me if I have an insurance or not. After they fixed it, they forgot to call me. So I waited about 20min +. If you're at the Pharmacy, and thinking wait time is very long, ask them what's going on. They may forget about you.... This is a shout-out to Dorian, a shift manager, who helped me yesterday. Dorian was friendly when checking my goods out. Then, when I needed help opening up a batteries pack that was so plasticized I couldn't open the package, Dorian helped me when I asked for help. He opened (after some effort) the package I had just bought to make sure I could access the batteries -- which I needed right away (as in, emergency)!! To CVS management: Keep Dorian, promote Dorian with more $$, and enjoy this excellent employee. He helped a total stranger save her day. read more

Open 24 hours a day you'll find this CVS around the block from Grand Central Station. Neat, organized, large and bright it's one of their better CVS locations. I dropped in here to find their ATM as I needed some cash for the .99 cent pizza joint close by. They have an Allpoint ATM which doesn't charge a fee for those on this network of financial institutions. Winner! Good location if you need to grab a few things before getting on the train. read more

This is one of the best CVS stores I've been to; it's 24 hours, has a ton of goods, both medical in nature and food/snack supplies. Even the pharmacy is open over night! I mean. Isn't that sort of unheard of? I scheduled a covid-19 appointment online for 5:30 PM today 9/8/2024 and I received confirmation email and text message for my appointment Around 15 minutes later I received another email and text that my appointment is cancelled and an option to reschedule 1. If for whatever reason the pharmacy cannot do vaccinations why the CVS website shows availability 2. Why the appointment is confirmed at first ? Conclusion : If there is no availability for vaccinations then the website should not show availability and not confirm appointments CVS is a failing business - unless you need the pharmacy you can buy everything from Amazon without having to wait for someone to unlock an item read more

Signed up for a flu vaccine online, got all my confirmations, and signed in. Thought everything was all set. When it was time for my vaccine, a woman asked me for my date of birth again, and said it wasn't in the system. I then had to get back in line and give another woman my date of birth, address, phone number, etc., over and over again. Finally she said I wasn't in the system and couldn't get a flu shot. I have never seen such incompetence! I figured it would be convenient to do this near my office, but now I have to go back to the Walgreens in Brooklyn, where I usually get my vaccines. Never had a problem there--and will never set foot in this awful CVS again. read more

I have never had a good experience here. I am always weirded out and there's always some kind of issue. Unlike at Duane Reade/Walgreens, if you buy a prepaid gift card (i.e. AmEx gift card) they DON'T print the little receipt that you can tape to the outside. This especially annoying if you have to purchase several gift cards. The shelves are not well stocked. They have a lot of food, if you purchase food at CVS. I strongly prefer Walgreens though. read more

Geez! What a mess! This place is truly a HOT MESS!! CVS has a pair of large elephant sized balls to have all these self checkout registers, and no live cashiers. And i mean large elephant sized balls that are dragging on the sidewalk. Not sure how they even walk. Seriously, what is going on?? If i need to ring up and bag my own stuff, the products should be less expensive then what they actually are! I should be on employee payroll and getting direct deposit every 2 weeks on Friday. The self checkout has essentially branded me an invisible employee. It is insane how expensive everything is in here. I get bumper sticker shock every time i examine the price tag after taking things off the shelf. Then i have to put it right back on the shelf because i won't be buying a thing since the prices are egregious. I come in strictly for window shopping, and then buy the items off of Amazon. This CVS store is unreal. The best one I have ever been to. For real, they should get medals or something. It's BRIGHT, huge, super clean, the workers are amazing, and they provide superb service. I went to use their photo printing services, and a couple of the employees answered all of my questions regarding my photos and allowed me to print them through both my flash drive and thru my facebook to see which one would come out with better quality, but only charged me for one set of prints. I was very grateful for their service :-) Since I work close to it, it'll be my go-to place for the necessities. read more

That's what I've been saying for years....more robots to replace people, because robots are infrequently sullen and very rarely sigh and roll their eyes when you ask them where something is. That's why I like this store, because you don't have to interact with any humans to get what you need. Now don't get me wrong, the lady who helped me find the contact lens solution was very nice, but I love the breezing through the self checkout while the shoppers using the human cashiers continue to wait on line. When you work in Manhattan and live in New Jersey, the opening of a CVS Pharmacy / Store is not much to celebrate or go on about. However, when this location opened up last year, I only had to look at the doorway and the nice man saying "Good morning" to every customer going in to see that this CVS was a bit different. Looking more like a mini-supermarket than your typical strip mall pharmacy shop, this CVS is huge. The food aisles take up two long aisles with everything from nuts to cookies to soups and even my milk of choice (Skim Plus). They have a "seasonal" section which is always packed with goodies (they're getting rid of the Christmas stuff right now) and the rest of the store is clean and laid out with relatively wide aisles where everything is clearly marked and labeled with bright signs. The pharmacy is towards the back, though I haven't used that particular section of the store yet. I was also pleasantly surprised to see this CVS uses self checkout machines in addition to regular cashiers. I'm a big fan of self checkout and use it often since I'm usually running to work when I stop here in the mornings. Price-wise, you're in mid-town Manhattan, don't expect cheap. As a small example, a loaf of bread that would cost me about $3.50 in New Jersey costs almost $5. However, when you need something in a pinch, it's definitely worthwhile to check out. read more

Pretty good drugstore if you happen to be in the GC area and need a Vitamin water, Q-tips, or Lucky Charms. Yes, they have a bit of everything like every other one of these places, plus they run 24/7. My one gripe, as with all of these chains, is that the prices are ridiculously over the top; $14 for laundry detergent? $9 for a 3 pack of soap? It's just madness. But they gotcha and they know they do, so I'm sure they'll continue to charge a 3x markup. All you can do is hope and pray you don't suddenly need instant bronzer when you're in the 42nd St. area. read more

Went into the shop to look for nicotine stuff. Could nothing find. Because many CVS sell this only over the counter i tried to ask staff behind the back counter, who ignored me first - then mumbled me something like "go forward, i'm not available" - going to the next counter, where the woman went away as she saw me. If you asked me what's on the South West corner of 42nd Street and 3rd Avenue, I wouldn't know... until now. When did this CVS pop up? I walked by and had to go inside. The first person you see is the "greeter". "Good afternoon! Welcome to CVS!" Walking inside, I initially cringed, like a vampire in natural daylight. My eyes needed a little adjusting. It's bright. It's colorful. The pharmacy is in the back, there are a good selection of Hallmark cards (I needed one) and there are the "double-stacked" checkout lines, ie like Target. I did not wait long to checkout. I forgot my CVS card, but the cashier swiped one for me (I got a 20 oz vitamin water for a dollar). After conversing with the cashier, this store opened a month ago. No wonder it's so clean! I also got a promotional "murse" instead of plastic bags to carry out my wares. "Thank you for shopping at CVS! Goodbye!" This location is large and has a better selection than many others around it, but it has some major service flaws. One day I went here to shop in December and it felt like there was no heat on at all. All the cashiers were wearing winter coats and gloves. I even witnessed another shopper yell at the manager advocating on the behalf of the cashiers complaining about how cold it was. Another time I ordered photos online for store pickup. After 3 hrs, I checked my account, and it said my photos were ready. So I went to pick them up. And I stood at the counter for five minutes while the cashier looked for my photos. She came back and told me they are printing. When I asked why they weren't ready, she said they got "lost" in the system. They had the order clearly since they started printing my photos at checkout, but I had to go back later to pick them up. If you work in the area and are near the CVS in 47th and 3rd, you should go there instead. The employees there are very friendly and willing to help. read more

This is worst pharmacy bad customer service. Their system is down since yesterday afternoon. I don't get my medication yet it's next day afternoon. It was antibiotic. Since this pharmacy accept my prescription my hospital recommend to stay with them, because insurance company already prepare for payment. They don't want to double charge to me. The best CVS in the city, without a doubt. Other CVSs will even tell you that - they refer to this branch as the 'Flagship' store. And I can see why. It's huge, bright, new, clean, with reasonably wide aisles and an awesome selection. Both the store and the pharmacy are open 24/7. My only peeve is that I wished they had more entrances. I walk here from over 30 blocks away, but they can't have an entrance on 3rd ave? Yes, I realize that's irrational. My primary dealings so far have been with the pharmacy itself. I used to work in a CVS pharmacy (more than one actually), so I've seen how service can vary. My doctor had prescribed me a rather obscure narcotic, and I literally called over 20 pharmacies trying to locate one which carried it, or could at least order it and have it arrive by Monday morning. In my gazillion calls, I also saw huge price fluctuations, as I pay out of pocket. CVS was the cheapest by $10. And the next best pharmacy could only have my item by 'Monday afternoon, maybe'. This place had it ready in two days. I came it late at night, picked it up, no problems, and it's the special obscure brand and insanely cheap. I am VERY HAPPY. I also browsed their food aisles extensively, noting that their cool drinks section rivals some of my favourite delis. Clearly Canadian pink grapefruit sugar free! Organic Quinoa drinks! The array of energy bars impressed similarly; they have ALL the flavours of Gnu fiber bars, which I rarely see anywhere, and at a price almost as cheap as Trader Joe's. I also found new organic chocolate bars I had never seen before. Everything was well stocked, too. Sparkling refreshment + dark chocolate + drugs = heaven. read more

The most beautiful CVS or chain drugstore I've ever been to! I swear, this is what CVS's model store looks like--fantastic! Very appealing colors used to mark each section of the clean, bright store! Of course, as the store is brand new, the shelves were more than well stocked. In the back of the store is the pharmacy which is also beautiful! And the best part for those of us who trapse through the city--a clean restroom! And handicapped accessible too! You'll have to ask the pharmacy for the key. Now being the beauty product freak that I am, I had to check out that section. Very well lit so that you feel as if you're in the beauty department of a department store! This CVS stocks beauty products which aren't available at all CVS's--Boots, Roche Posay, Lierac, & Avene. Though I didn't buy anything, I had a great time just browsing. At first, I gave this CVS the worst review I could possibly give them, back when the place just opened. I was getting over strep throat, I felt like shit, and I was so pissed at the world I couldn't see straight. I tried one of those self-checkout things they put up for "convenience", because I didn't want to speak to anyone, nor could I, and I bought oodles of throat medicine. I scanned in my Visa to pay, and the damn thing clammed up. No one was there to help, so I went home even more pissed and knocked out a one star review. But I'm not pissed now. For today, I discovered a most wondrous thing: This CVS carries Bumble and Bumble products for the same prices as the actual salon (OK, a tad more expensive). Hallelujah!!!! CVS, you just gained yourself three more stars! And just for hair spray and some shampoo. Aside from that....I had been making small trips to this store for a month or so, just to reacquaint myself with the place. A soda here, some candy there. I saw their offerings from Boots, an English bath and body care line. I bought some bubble bath. A few other necessities on another day. Now, I am completely hooked. Duane Reade will never see the likes of me again. I even got myself a Customer Care card. If that ain't commitment, I don't know what is. As drugstores go, this CVS is huge, and the aisles are a nice size. The beauty products sit on a lit shelf for chicness. Everything is clean and organized. The cash registers almost always have a long line, but the cashiers are good, so far, so the lines have been moving quickly. But I still haven't gotten up the courage to touch one of those android checkout machines. And it must be mentioned that this new and clean and beautiful bathroom either never works, or the pharmacists make up some story that another pharmacist took the key home and never brought it back. The nicest drugstore I've ever been to. It's always clean, bright, well-stocked, and convenient. There's even a greeter for goodness' sake! My favourite feature: self-checkout lanes. It seems every time I've been to a Dwane Reede or a Rite Aid in this city, the service is slow and half-assed. Being able to bypass the slow incompetence of drugstore clerks is wonderful. This CVS is the jamm! First let me say that I am picky and details matter. I expect to get what I pay for. I give extra cool points for a nice vibe and atmosphere, kind and generous customer services and a good well appointed space. This CVS had it all and it would have gotten more stars but for the tendency to totally rip the runway on Aveeda products. I use the Control Paste which usually sells for about 22 bucks right down the street at the Aveeda in Grand Central. Seriously, why did I pay 27 beans for it in CVS? I'm not sure if other designer products like Bumble and Bumble and the like are jacked sky high but as for me, that was it's major minus. So if you have price point problems and you're looking for Aveeda you may want to check the coupon jar (or hit Grand Cen)before venturing forth. For-realz-ies. Besides the price gouging issue me and CVS on 42nd are a match made in heaven. I like well lit super clean pharmacies. This CVS is well lit and super clean. I like informed, in control and kind pharmacists. This CVS has them. I like a nice magazine selection. They've got them. I enjoy an extensive make-up aisle with choice accessories. Done. They even have what I didn't know I wanted - a self check-out. It was fast and unlike Home Depot on Dekalb in BK, someone is there to help you should you need it. After experiencing this fab CVS it's pretty painful to hit the never in service escalator but always has a lower lever Ghett Duane Reade's the city has to offer. This was much different. No Chappelle's show Pop Copy flashbacks. There is even a guy at the front that just says hello and goodbye. Then again...maybe he's just security on some real undercover shizzzz. this is the cleanest, brightest CVS I have ever seen!! It is amazing! Everything is easy to locate, and they even have a self checkout area... You would never think that this place is open 24 hours (you know, 24 hour stores tend to be dingy and dirty, right??) And the service is pretty good too!
