Literally one of the worst pharmacies you can go to. Communicated with this pharmacy both as a patient and healthcare provider office. Never send any information to your doctor but assure you that they do. Making preauthorisation process for a medications a disaster by not using the systems all other pharmacies using. As a patient trying to get a medication , you always have to wait , some of the staff is not trained and doesn't know how to communicate with customers. Was told to wait 15 minutes , waited for 30 , when i came to ask about my medication, the other pharmacy staff member told me that he knows nothing about it and no one even started preparing it. "You want to leave or wait for your medication"? Not a sorry for the wait or inconvenience they don't really care. It is a great place if you want to loose an hour trying to get 1 medication that been prescribed a week ago and speak with rude untrained staff. read more

although this duane reade is open 24/7, chaos should be its middle name. it's almost impossible to speak with a human being on the pharmacy telephone line. instead, there is a robotic answering service which customers have to plow through to get their needs met. when customers go to this pharmacy, there's generally 5+ people waiting in line to pick up, drop off, ask questions, etc. oftentimes there's only one employee attempting to juggle tasks for multiple customers. if the customer's primary language is not english, progress is slowed down even more. if the pharmacists did not automatically attach child-proof caps to prescription bottles. less time would be wasted when customers have to request that those caps be changed for regular ones. read more

Every time I come here, there's some kind of problem for another customer. Tonight, it was me. I received an email that my scripts were ready and went over. A customer was standing at the counter just waiting for a few minutes. No employee around. Then she stepped off to the side a few feet. The pharmacist comes out and says "next customer." I hesitate for a second and look to the woman since I thought she was in line first. The pharmacist snaps at me, very aggressively, "She's already being helped!! Next up!!" Ok? I had no way of knowing that. I give her my name and DOB. Practically rolling her eyes, she says "oh, you were the one just calling here." Except I did not call the store, she had me confused with another person. When I tell her this--thinking there could be a mix up with the medications--she says in the rudest, most sarcastic way, "okay, sure." I look at my boyfriend and he's incredulous. I was treated with such disrespect right off the bat, for no apparent reason. I only shop here because it's what my insurance requires, but I'd avoid it like the plague if you can. read more

To be totally honest, I had no intention of coming in here, but I had been walking about 15 blocks, it was raining a little harder then I would like and I was looking to dry off for a minute. Once inside it was apparent that it was a part of the Walgreens family. The only thing that stood out is there is a ton of construction on the building outside, so it isn't super obvious what is located here. Once I was inside here and I started to look around a little bit I came across an umbrella and poncho station that had some reasonable prices. AN umbrella for $6.99 isn't bad. I'll buy this and get back on my rainy journey. Once outside it was pretty obvious why it was only $6.99...it is broken. I was able to get it open, but it took some work. Overall for the price it worked fine and got me out of my rainy jam. If I was in the area I'd go back in here again. read more

Duane Reade: Everything you don't want; nothing you do.(TM) Want tortilla chips? Sorry, fresh out. But can they interest you in some wasabi-flavored Cheetos and a toy motorcycle? What about normal, human-sized, regular bandaids? Nope. They do, however, have drill bits (but no drills), and a massive display tower of condoms blocking a wheelchair ramp. Sometimes they'll have entire shelves in the freezer/dairy section totally empty for weeks on end. They had no cooking spray for SIX MONTHS, even though they had a space on the shelf with a price tag for it. I understand they're primarily a drug store, and that perishables can be tricky--e.g., nobody buys eggs at Duane Reade until there's a snowstorm, and suddenly everyone MUST have eggs from Duane Reade. But why does it take so long to restock cooking spray? Did I miss the Great Cooking Spray Shortage of '17? Recently, they've been out of Ben and Jerry's, but have store brand ice cream in abundance. No. Please, PLEASE, no. If you try to force me to eat your shitty Iced Cream-Style Frozen Slurry instead of a real brand, I will flip a car. Dead serious: do you know what they ALWAYS have? In MANHATTAN? In JANUARY?! Fucking CITRONELLA CANDLES!! They have more citronella candles than you can shake a stick at! For all that hot, stagnant, water I'm lounging around next to. Shirtless. At dusk. Outside. Also, they never have more than half their cash registers staffed at one time. Also, picking up a prescription from them is a gordian knot. Except when you cut through the knot, they just stare at you blankly and insist that the knot is still there. We were walking by this store two days ago and I needed to buy a card, so it was a good opportunity. Upon entering the store, I asked the cashier where the cards were located and she brusquely pointed towards the back of the store. We finally found the card section and admittedly the selection was good. We then decided to look at the sales circular, in case there was anything we'd want to buy (rather than wasting an inordinate amount of time walking down the many aisles of the store) - so we went to the front of the store and asked an employee walking past us where the sales circulars were located, since we couldn't find them. Not only did she not stop for even one second, but she rudely motioned towards the back of the store (?!). I asked her again - more forcefully - and she made very rude hand motions (use your imagination) before rushing away. I then requested that the cashier get ahold of the manager, and I gave him an earful. He was polite, although he wasn't exactly effusively apologetic. At least the cashier was more pleasant than previously, when I paid for the card. (As an aside, the sale items are only listed online - and certainly we weren't surprised to hear that, but we had no desire to make any more purchases by then). read more

This is the worlds slowest Duane Reade. What's crazy is that they have this giant store with so much for sale, yet there's never any staff to ring people up. This includes the pharmacy, which as you can tell from the other reviews, moves at reverse light speed. As this is a yelp review, I'll break it down yelp style: Decor & Vibe: 10/10, well lit and well stocked store, with plenty of space to casually stroll all night Service: 0/10. The people working there are nice enough, but soooooooo sloooooooooow Price: 5/10: It's NYC (and Duane Reade) so it comes in as expected. Overall I would not recommend this Duane Reade, although there's not much else going on Murray Hill, you may just be stuck going there. read more

This store is HUGE, well lit and I'm totally drawn to it like a moth. I have no experience with their pharmacy, so this review is only about their OTC products. This store is about as big as a small grocery store. They have a ton of frozen foods, beer, miscellaneous groceries including spices and of course the usual drug store wares. I like it because it's big and clean. Pro tip: DR accepts coupons so clip them from the paper. read more

This is my favorite go to spot. If I need something usually I went to Duane Reade. I've been here a lot of times which's couldn't count how many times I've been here also I've been Duane Reade the other location a lot. But this location was not too big not too small but there's not a lot of stuffs as other locations but there has almost of it. Sometimes I couldn't buy something what I need to buy at this location. Some of the staffs were rude and they should find other work if they don't want to work there but some of staffs were very friendly. Review is for the pharmacy: I had a prescription for a common vitamin (not even a medicine). I was told it was in stock and the wait would be 20 minutes. "Twenty minutes" meant an hour. No proactive updates, and two other customers sat alongside me -- presumably thinking their orders, too, would be ready in "20 minutes". Just be more accurate with the wait time, so customers can decide if they want to wait or go elsewhere. read more

I got to check out where the lady is blowing her nose. She is wearing gloves and used a tissue. When I asked her nicely to change gloves before handling my purchases in this era of COVID, she angrily refuses. Since I have scrubs, I reluctantly mention that I am a doctor and changing gloves would be the right thing to do. Again, in a pretty nice manner. In the end she's is loudly complaining to her coworker who also thinks that it is ludicrous that I asked her to change gloves after blowing her nose. Pretty unpleasant and now I question the cleanliness of the entire store... sad. read more

Do NOT bring your disposable camera to have photos printed here. They lost 3 of my films and will not provide any solutions and will not give me any money back. Their CD machine is always broken and after waiting 4 months for them to fix it, they told me they lost my files meaning the photos are all lost. It was very frustrating and the staff was not helpful and don't seem to care at all. There is another place on E 38th Street that print them for you in 24 hours and send you the pictures by email. read more

I usually use Capsule delivery for my pharmacy needs because it's so much more convenient, but unfortunately they're having supply issues for my medications, so had to go to Duane Reade. The technician had no clue what she was doing. I used Express Pay and paid in advance and she was trying to tell me that I still had a balance. When I showed her that I already paid she didn't believe me, was arguing with me and was super rude and dismissive toward me. Miserable experience! I really hope I can start using capsule again because the technicians at Duane Reade are atrocious! read more

Just to give a sense of how long it takes to deal with the pharmacy here: My husband and I split up on the corner of 3rd and 35th street. We live a block away. I went to the Duane Reade pharmacy to pick up. He went to D'agostino, bought food, came home, made breakfast, ate it AND cleaned it up before I returned - EMPTY HANDED - after waiting in line for 20+ minutes and giving up. A grand total of ONE customer ahead of me (who was already at the register when I arrived, for god knows how long) actually completed their visit. The girl behind the counter was maybe, if I had to guess, 16 years old, and despite the long line of clearly frustrated people, none of the other TWO people working came to the other register to help things move along. At the time I left, she was unable to locate the next customer in the system. Who has the time?!?! I'd rather die of illness than wait as long as it takes to get medicine here. read more

This pharmacy is the worst!! It used to be good, but since Walgreens or whomever bought it the service at the pharmacy has just gone downhill. The pharmacists are now crabby, and one of the pregnant cashiers in the pharmacy is unbearably rude - plus she can't read! So imagine standing in line, being ignored by the pregnant cashier, given dirty looks even if you are the calmest and most polite person in the world while this cashier struggles with the "system" ( actually basic spelling and dates trip her up) to get ONE prescription. NOT worth the aggravation. I gave 34th Street cashier a prescription, told them I would wait, walked around for 30 mins and returned to find they had not yet started the prescription. And the attitude! There's another Duane Reade on 3rd and 41st where they are competent and polite, so I try to go there. The pharmacist there is amazing, and she treats you old school - making polite suggestions and giving helpful advice. Requests to the store manager at 34th Street were met with, Sorry, it's a merger thing. There's a CVS a block over on 34th - it's worth crossing the street to avoid aggravation at 34th Street Duane Reade, especially if you're pressed for time. read more

I recently went to this Duane Reade to get a prescription filled. I started out at my local Duane Reade, but they didn't have the medication I needed in stock. They recommended I try the one on 3rd Avenue. When I got there, there was a line of people waiting at the register for purchases and to pick up their precriptions. There was no one waiting at the window for the pharmacist (where you normally drop off a prescription or ask the pharmacist a question), so I patiently stand there. Several minutes pass, and I make eye-contact with one of the 2 pharmacists working behind the glass. She goes back to doing her thing, and I wait patiently once again. After several more minutes, the same woman turns to me and says, "Do you have a question?" As I start to say, "Yes, I want to see if you have this medic - " she cuts me off and tells me I have to wait in the line at the register. A little annoyed that she couldn't just tell me if they had what I needed or not, I get in line behind 5 other people who are being helped by the non-pharmacist, Duane Reade cashier. Though this cashier was clearly in a hurry to take her break (as she was arguing with co-workers who had already clocked-out for their breaks, and telling them to "Wait for her to go to McDonald's"), her register skills did not express her desire to help customers quickly. When I finally get to the front of the line (after the cashier had given up on her friends, and placed an order with them to bring back two 4-piece McNugget meals for her), she informed me that since I've never use this Duane Reade pharmacy before that I would have to fill-out all my personal information to be entered into the Duane Reade Pharmacy computer that apparently isn't networked or accessible to any other Duane Reade Pharmacy computer (that would make too much sense). Finally, after giving this chick all my vital stats, she goes back to the same Pharmacist behind the window that I spoke to earlier, with my prescription in hand. After approximately 25 second, she comes back and tells me, "We're gonna have to order it for you, cause we dont have it," All I'm saying is, what happened to being able to talk to your pharmacist? A simple, "Hi! How can I help you?" would have had me in and out in under a minute. In stead, I had to suffer through inane bulls&!t for over 20 min! Duane Reade needs to get their act together and remember that the people who walk up to the Pharmacy counter are very often there because they're in pain. A little compassion goes a long way. In the end I brought my prescription to RiteAid on 30th and 2nd ave. They had just what I needed and were able to help me in a reasonable amount of time (even with only one Pharmacist, who was both filling prescriptions and running the register). Instead she wouldn't listen to me and kept saying "just pay it, and you can submit the bill to your insurance". Um NO, i don't want to pay full price when the card says right here i only owe $10. She would NOT listen to me and kept saying "just pay it, just pay it". I REFUSED to, so she finally had to call and deal with it (in oh, i guess 2 seconds) and was rude and annoyed the rest of the time helping me, wouldn't even look at me. I practically live here! I work right across the street and go this specific Duane Reade all the time. I constantly recommend it to my co-workers because I have come to believe you can find anything you want in here. It is conveniently located right across from the Empire State building which makes it accessible to tourists who need some toiletries or bottled water as they venture through the city. I just love the layout and the fact that it is two floors. The first floor has all the snacks and the second floor has the grooming supplies and pharmacy. The pharm techs aren't very friendly, but I don't really care for them anyways so they can stay in their little bubble. I love that they have such a wide selection of beverages and chips. This is my favorite snack spot on 34th street. It is always very clean and well organized. The cashiers are friendly too which is a plus. NO complaints about Duane Reade at all. read more

I just moved to New York and don't have a regular doctor. I had some very sore inner ears and a bad cough that came along with a cold. After wrestling for a few days with them, I decided to try to find a walk-in clinic, because I didn't have time to deal with the hassle of finding a new physician. I saw that Duane Reade had a walk-in clinic. They appear to be one of the only pharmacies in Manhattan to have one - although CVS and Walgreens typically have them, they are noticeably absent here. My experience was similar to going to a regular doctor's office, although the wait was significantly less. I came in, filled out some paper work, and had my blood pressure taken. The Dr talked to me about what I was experiencing and then examined my ears and listened to my breathing to determine what the issue was. He spent a significant amount of time explaining the problem to me, more-so than most doctors and certainly more than what I was expecting in a walk in clinic setting. He prescribed some things for me and explained what each was for and how they would help me. He also recommended OTC drugs. I would definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone. read more

This store used to be kinda dumpy. But then one day I entered, and just like magic, it was clean and orderly! This is one of my favorite stores to shop in, not only because it's a great place to waste precious work hours when I need a break, but because it also provides me with all my basic necessities. You know, the usual items of chocolate, salty snacks, emergency tampons, nylons, and things to use in my hair when I'm having a bad hair day, just to name a few. You know, the usual we're-here-when-you-need-'em items. Plus, if you are smart enough to carry a Duane Reade card, you can spend hours browsing for that perfect item to buy when you receive the $5 coupon just for using the card. With all the new Duane Reade brand items (De-lish) now available, I LOVE this place!! I recommend trying the peanut butter and white chocolate popcorn. That's just pure heaven. For added sweetness, couple a few kernels of that along with the chocolate popcorn and you have a sinfully delicious flavor just bursting in your mouth. Yummmm!! read more

By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I wasn't going to write this review because I am not a fan of writing bad reviews. I actually visited this Duane Reade store mid week (was in the area for work), and have been procrastinating writing this one for four days. I just popped in to get a few bits & pieces. This is actually my first visit to this Duane Reade store. The store layout is fabulous and alot bigger than your average Duane Reade. The store is clean, and spacious, and there is plenty of room to move in and out of aisles. I had a little free time on my hands, so I just browsed the aisles looking for what I needed. Once I had what I needed, I went to the register to pay. Luckily there was no one in line, so I went straight up to the register to make payment. I received no hello, or no eye contact, from the lady serving me. She scanned my items, asked if I had a Duane Reade card, in which I responded yes. When I gave her my duane reade card, which is attached to my keys, I accidently picked up the wrong keyring. This increased the level of attitude and negative body langusge in which I was already receiving from this cashier. Once that was over, I paid for my items, and said I would not require a receipt. She ignored me, continued to give me the receipt, and said I could throw it away on leaving the store. SO RUDE!!!! It is really hard to put into words what I experienced, but I have never ever experienced such rude customer service. She obviously did not want to be there. The store really needs to reassess the staff in which they choose to work behind the register. The staff behind the register are the heartbeat of any business, and the determining factor as to whether the business is receiving repeat business. I definitely will NEVER revisit this Duane Reade store, and would not recommend any one else does either. One Christmas Eve about 30 years ago in New York City, when my 2 girls were young, all I had was rubber rain boots to give them (because I worked at a shoe company and got them 1/2 price). Then as I was walking home through 3 foot snow drifts I fell on the ice on 34th Street (YES as in "Miracle on 34th Street")...right in front of a Duane Reade pharmacy store. I was so upset and hurt I went inside to get warm. There in the window were 2 giant teddy bears. For a lark I asked the manager how much he said, $20. I said, I couldn't afford $40. He then said for no reason I can think of, "No, I meant for both." With happy tears in my eyes I dragged two huge bears home on the bus and walked on ice 5 more blocks and up 4 flights of stairs. I stood the bears in the boots and that was our Christmas. I think one of our happiest. read more

Minimally convenient since I need to get some drinks, snacks, cash (Citibank ATM?), and pain pills. Keep in mind that the food items are waaaaaay in the back, the medicines in the middle, and the beauty aids and supplies are right in front of the store. It's a bit of a maze to go through, but it works. Place is otherwise clean and decent. Baskets are available if you have multiple items, and the staff seem to just stock stuff, not too helpful in anything else, occasionally cashiering your items, if they happen to be around. This lack of customer service and enthusiasm seems common in DR stores, and to a lesser extent, Walgreen stores too - at least in my home area of Chicago. Not sure of the local CVS, as I never been to them as of yet. But at least going to DR, my Saver Card account works here too, for coupons, discounts, and Saver dollars. Being a Walgreen's company, I would surmise I can get my prescription refilled here too, but I won't be too hopeful. read more

I love the new and improved Duane Reade! especially the fact that is open 24 hours and now its twice the size that it used to be. It's so convenient, and I specially love the new Goya products section. I'm Hispanic, so I truly appreciate the fact that they are recognizing the changing face of America and including this whole section of Goya juices, and different products that I love and remind me of my childhood in South America. This American guy even saw me grabbing so many Goya mango nectar, he came to take a look and ended up getting some too, which I'm sure he'll be coming back for more. The pharmacy is open 24 hours, which is awesome. The new product selection is great, especially the food. They have a walk in clinic which is perfect, open even on Sundays if you want to go see a doctor last minute. I love that they now finally have my sneakers ice cream bars, I love those, and I sometimes crave then at 3am or so, so I stop by and grab one. This place is excellent, great job! read more

I was racially profiled and attacked. As soon as I walked in the shift lead started following me. As I walked into the store to pick up medicine, the pharmacist refused to help me. First she pretended my name wasn't in the database even though I've been a Walgreens customer since 2013; then she refused to help me checkout a purchase. I guess too much tea early in the morning...anywho...I couldn't hold it. I was doing the jitterbug. I walked in near tears to the cashier and asked to use the "facilities". She said: NO. I was a wee bit taken back, but I was desperate so I pressed on...PLEASE! May I see your manager? She rolled her eyes and picked up the phone to call him. The "ANGEL" manager arrived and I asked him. He must have seen the pleading in my eyes because he said. "Of course, right this way." (I wanted to hug him, but I think hubby would be a little slighted.) Joy who works in cosmetics was unbelievably inappropriate and rude and should be fired on the spot! While I was shopping my husband was amusing our two year old daughter by flipping open some sealed compacts so she could see herself in the mirror. She demanded that my husband take our daughter to toys r us several times and when he told her to relax Joy told him to STFU! He asked for her name and she ran toward the locked employee area to avoid giving her name but he got it anyway and reported her to the manager. I visited the clinic for an easy health issue. Made an appt. online, was seen five minutes early, no line on a business day during lunch in midtown. The doctor was great, and quick. I was in and out in under an hour, with a prescription in hand that was filled immediately after I left the clinic. Definitely will go back when I have an issue that I don't believe warrants a visit to my doctors office which always takes at least two hours. read more
