The items here are great and good prices as well. The issue, like all other 1 star reviews here, are about how horrible the customer service is. The cashier jakelin from what my receipt says, and who I assume was her manager/trainer (bigger girl with ombré red hair) we're so rude not only to me but the girl in front of me in line. Girl in front of me didn't realize they had her items in the bag in the counter and was waiting for them and then the cash register called me up and she was like oh my products? And the cash register rudely said they're right here and then as the girl walked away "jakelin" turned to the red hair girl and said "like what did she expect for me to do, hand her the bag?" And then they made fun of her while I was checking out and I said no I'm ok w no bag and then after I paid they're so preoccupied gossiping about people in the store that she shoved my products off the counter and my foundation in a glass jar (in a box) fell and skidded across the floor and I picked it up and asked if I can switch for a new one. The red hair girl said "um I mean I think it's fine but I guess" and then they immediately started shit talking me and making fun of me for asking?? And I had to go switch the products out and I tried to check to be like hey am I good to walk out of the store and they ignored me so I just left. One of the only K Beauty stores in midtown and possibly the city. The store is not terribly large and is awfully crowded most of the time. They have a nice selection of skincare and beauty products. They also have great deals on sheet masks Buy 4 get 1 free or Buy 5 get 5 free. Some of the testers are dirty and messy so I'd avoid them. The staff aren't particularly helpful or friendly at Kosette, but I'm a K Beauty pro so I don't need much help. The staff at Senti Senti in Chinatown/Williamsburg are much more helpful and friendly. If you're unsure of what you want or want recommendations, I'd go to Senti Senti for a more personalized shopping experience. The majority, if not all products are from Korea so to me are rest for the Asian skin and complexion but I see all nationalities shopping here. Great prices from face masks $1-3 and all types. This Korean skincare store is small but has some amazing items that you don't find elsewhere. I've gotten some great moisturizers and vitamin c serums from here in the past that were recommended from the associates. Every time I come here I end up spending way too much money because I'm tempted to try it all. They have an abundance of face masks, nail polishes, spfs, etc. There are a bunch of different brands to try so if you don't like one there's always another waiting for you. I went in and asked about the mediheal brightening pads. I wear airpod max's (important) I went up to a girl who was stocking the shelves and her co-worker was beside her. I confuse the name medicube and mediheal. But I knew it was toner pads and said I purchased it here before. The girl wasn't very helpful and just said "well if you don't see it then we don't have it." So I move away to confirm the name of the item I am looking for (since she is stocking maybe its in the back) I over hear her say to her co-worker (mind you my music is paused and im an ear shot away) "I hate when they come in and don't know what they're looking for" Aren't you supposed to be the expert of what you sell? I only bought it once and recently ran out. I pulled up the item and after hearing it and ahowed it to her and she finally knew what I was talking about. I really love Kosette and I make my way down to koreatown every couple of months to stock up on some skin care items . Excellent products and prices and usually best customer service , they help recommend things for your skin type or if you tell them you want something let's say for the bags under your eyes they will recommend something. I've never purchased anything here that I didn't like . I gave 3 stars because today I encountered a very rude employee, I totally understand policy and rules but there has to be professionalism and courtesy when dealing with customers . I was here with my daughter and her friend we just got boba milk tea and wanted to do some shopping , our basket was nearly full and we were almost ready to checkout but the kids wanted to buy some lip gloss so they were looking , we were so rudely approached by a Caucasian woman employee (Sunday 4/4 around 2 pm or so) she told us no drinks allowed in here and we can leave them at the counter and continue shopping , I told her we were literally almost done and I don't feel comfortable leaving mine and my kids OPEN drinks at the counter out of our site, she didn't care so I didn't want to leave all the stuff I already put in my basket so I paid , kids were so disappointed they didn't get to choose anything so I promised we would come back once we finished our drinks . When we left the kids told me they didn't even want to come back and spend our money in a place that was so rude to us , mind you they are ten years old so imagine the level of rudeness we experienced . Fast forward I told them it's okay let's just go back and get whatever goodies you guys wanted , we're in the store not 5 mins and here comes this woman again now telling one of the kids you cant do that ,it was an eyeshadow palette and she wanted to buy it but you couldn't see the colors without opening the front cover , so now I stepped in and said if you don't open it you can't see what color you're buying , nowhere on the box did it say the colors by the way , now my girls wanted to leave .. I ended up buying them two little eyeshadows each (where u can see the color without opening the box ) because I felt so bad and didn't want them to leave empty handed . The girl who approached me - absolutely glistening skin, by the way - introduced me to some products for trouble skin, namely Soon Jung Moist Emulsion and Anti-J Soothing Emulsion, and you can sample whatever is open. They also have some interesting things, like blackhead cleaners, mesh indoor slippers, lip masks, cryo rubber, and snail cream! Prices range from $2-$30. The cashier asked my friend if she wanted a bag and so she asked "how much is it?" cashier: 5¢ friend: yea thats fine the transaction proceeds and the cashier does not provide a bag, so my friend asks where the bag is. He says "you literally said no bag". I was checking out after she left the store and overhead the cashier bad mouthing my friend to the other cashier. cashier: she literally said no bag! ugh! My sister and I were in Koreatown two Tuesdays ago and after stuffing ourselves full of Korean BBQ at Let's Meat down the street, I figured we could use a short walk... or make that a long walk ;D We were strolling around randomly when my sister dragged me into Kosette to grab some scrunchies. And grab some scrunchies we did! We were making our way to the cash register and that's when I saw it: Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. I had been looking all over for this in stores and when I couldn't find it, I gave up and tossed it to the back of my mind. I definitely wasn't expecting to see it here. Kosette keeps the testers in the cabinets, but a male sales clerk was nice enough to get it out for me to try. I ended up buying it, though the tester I tried at the store seemed to have a higher viscosity than the one I bought home. It's kinda strange since it's the same exact product... Anyways, this was an overall pleasant trip. The store was extremely clean and we got the scrunchies and the Cosrx. I ran out of essence/emulsion (whatever you put after toner) so I shopped at Kosette in search of it. I've always gone to Muji for the emulsion but I got bored and wanted to try Korean cosmetics this time. I had no idea where to start looking, but three staff were available and one of them made helpful suggestions on what product to get. FYI, I asked for emulsion/essence with extra moisture for the winter and the staff suggested Hyaluronic Acid, Moisture Emulsion by the brand It's Skin. When I looked up the product online later, I learned that prices are more expensive at Kosette than in an online store by about $3. I'm satisfied with the service and what I was able to buy, but going forward I'll probably look up products and buy them online first. read more

I'm giving an extra star for the selection. The customer service was very lacking. I asked an associate if I could ask her a question when she was finished with a customer and she waved her hand at me and said "Yeah". She sounded annoyed, even though I was polite. Also, there were three people at the register, when there wasn't even a line. During checkout, when I didn't sign my name quickly for my credit card, the cashier repeated that she needed a signature in a rude tone. If I did have hearing problems, then I would have been offended. Both transactions left me cold. None of the employees at the registers was helping customers and were busy talking to each other when people needed assistance and the store was packed. This makes me just want to shop at the other stores on the same block because the space is cramped and they don't make people feel welcome. GREAT store! Have been coming here for about 2 yrs and almost every time I spend over $100. Since I spend over $100, they always give me a free gift. Normaly face masks, hand lotions or lip balms. Used to be TonyMoly but I guess now it's Kosette? It's still exactly the same inside. It has great Korean skincare products!!! Prices are good too! I know some people said they are a little pricey and I think it's cause a lot of Korean products are (thankfully) relatively cheap. In this store, I would say the average item is like $20/$25. But they do last and are good quality. And when compared to American or French products, MUCH CHEAPER! I recommend browsing all of 32nd st. There are a few other Korean stores with skin products. You definitely will pay a bit more than ordering from YesStyle but shopping in person is nice since they have testers available for almost all of the products. There's also now an almost secret tiny discounted section once you walk a half floor up some tiny narrow stairs. This market is great - dangerous great. I came here because the store looked cute and managed to accumulate a whole bag of products - I had to be dragged out by my boyfriend. I'm not sure how long it's been open, but it's located adjacent and connected to a bookstore that I feel like has been in Ktown for forever. Kosette beauty market has something for everything - nail supplies, hair supplies, makeup, skincare, and masks - SO MANY MASKS. Masks for your face, masks for your hands, masks for your feet, masks for your eye circles, masks for your smile lines, masks for your red cheeks. They retail Dr. Jart, Holika holika, It's Skin, Corsx, Faceshop, Innisfree, SNP animal masks, Too Cool for School, Oozoo bear, Tony Mony, Skinfood, etc - I have died and went to mask heaven. I'm really glad I found this store because it retails so many Korean skincare and makeup brands that I usually buy on amazon/online/through Memebox. I'm glad there's a physical store in Manhattan I can check out, try some testers and buy day of. It's a little more pricey than Amazon (example, $14 cream on Amazon was sold for $16 at this store), but for the convenience it was worth it - Amazon/Jolse/etc take DAYS/WEEKS/MONTHS to ship. Also this place has frequently sales so check their instagram page to save $$$$. The staff here are also incredibly friendly and helpful. As some other reviewers have said, customer service could use a bit of work. I usually stop by at night during the week when it's not as crowded like the weekends, but it feels like the sales associates actively avoid interactions with customers. When checking out, there have been times where the employees are completely distracted talking to each other, which didn't make for the most welcoming experience. In terms of pricing, you can definitely find cheaper deals online, but I think of the extra markup as paying for convenience. From my experiences ordering Korean beauty products online, I've had month long waits only to find out that my products weren't available with no definite restock date. After going through that a few times, I'm completely okay with paying a few extra dollars for products I can use the day of purchase. Kosette carries a pretty wide variety of brands, but maybe their range of products per brand isn't too diverse because I often can't find specific products I come in to look for. For those with some time to spare, I recommend price checking at other beauty stores around 32nd St and 5th Ave since it tends to vary per product. Honestly, the last few times I visited Kosette during my trips to NYC, I've had the worst experience. The workers rudeness played a big part in it. The workers there aren't knowledgeable and seemed like they were recommending me the wrong products for mine and my clients skin type (I'm a beauty consultant btw). Every time I asked a question it seemed like i bothered the workers and they kept huffing and puffing, rolling their eyes and glaring at me. When I asked them how come the prices from Besfren Beauty is more cost effective then this store, the workers started trash talking the other beauty store which is pretty messed up because that shows lack of professionalism and maturity. My second time visiting they had some sort of sales on the second floor , I thought the products would be nice and at least expiring in a couple months or so but turns out they SELL EXPIRED products. So if I was you guys I would avoid the second floor. I don't feel welcomed here at all and probably won't be visiting this store anymore. My experience was horrible at Kosette. I came in to look for a face moisturizer and lipstick. There were three employees walking around and none of them helped me. I believe it is important to note I am a person of color. As other people came in to shop who were Asian, staff immediately went to help them and tell them about products without being prompted. They even asked if the other customers needed a basket to hold their products, but did not do the same with me. My breaking point was when I was swatching a lipstick tester and an employee came over and watched me swatch it. Didn't ask if I needed help, but stared at me less than a foot away before leaving. The first time I bought something here I got a VT BT21 lippie stick. When I went home I found out the product inside had been opened/used and that they just resealed the whole box so it looked new. We resolved that problem and I thought it wasn't their fault. But recently I went in and I got excited to see their Tony Moly peach hand creams on sale for $5 so I bought a bunch to take as gifts for friends. It wasn't until I got home that I realized on the bottom the manufacturing dates on them were early 2016. On Tony Moly's website they say "It is generally recommended that most products be used within 24 months of manufacture" and the products I bought were made 3 years ago!!!!! I opened one and it had an odd smell. The texture felt weird compared to the Peach Cream I own my self which I bought online recently. What's funny too is that for these items and few other one that were on sale had a "final sale/no return" policy on it. It's like they knew they were scamming people with old and bad products. Imagine if I never saw the manufacturing date on it and never opened to check one and gave it to my friends who don't know much and wouldn't have noticed. It could have hurt their skin, caused irritation, bacterial infection, etc. I plan to never buy anything again from this store again and I advise everyone to do the same or if you do check the product you're buying very well. read more

I love K-Beauty products. They have a decent selection of skincare, makeup and popular Kpop themed items. I haven't been to the other side where they sell albums and books, but they have that too. I last went there about a year ago, very early in the morning, and the customer service was fairly good. The woman who took care of me was not rude at all. This time when I went in, it was super crowded and the customer service was horrible. No one was helping. The cashier looked like she'd rather be somewhere else. I couldn't believe how rude she was.
