We went here today after a very long absence - and in contrast to my previous visits, it was a *miserable* experience. The cashier (a young man) was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever had the misfortune of coming into contact with; he was essentially *nasty*. I had a BOGO ("Buy One Get One" [free]) coupon and he angrily said that he'd never before seen one of those, but CVS has been issuing them for literally *decades* - and meanwhile, he was really peeved about having to apply it to my purchase! Also, I was using my monthly ExtraCare bonus and he was annoyed about *that*! There was a woman standing near him who I'm assuming was the manager, and she wasn't at all friendly - and she certainly should have rebuked him for his atrocious behavior. read more

Two times I tried to sign up for a CVS card and I couldn't sign up because either the computer was glitching or they wouldn't let me sign up unless I agreed to get constant emails and taxes from them on promotions. So I wasn't able to save any money on anything that I bought because of that and not for nothing that's BS !! It should be easy breezy, trying to sign up for a savings card and not get bullied into getting emails and then when I tried to put a different email or text it came up that it was a phone number or a person phone number would come up that wasn't me. Can I give a zero? This is quite literally the worst pharmacy I have ever been to and the only customer service experience that has ever left me feeling compelled to write a review. First, it is impossible to get a hold of the pharmacy over the phone. They don't update your order on the app when they can't fill it (for example if it's out of stock) so you have no way of knowing unless you call or you go in person. If you call, your only option is to leave a voicemail, and even though they are required to call you back within an hour, no one ever calls back. Once you get there in person, you are met with the most rude, disengaged, and dismissive employees/ pharmacists I have ever experienced. I recognize that this is a busy location and I'm sure they experience frustrations, but no matter the time of day or how busy it is the employees are always the same... simply rude. I've sat there multiple times waiting for my prescription and when I went back up to check the status they said " oh no one told me we actually don't have your medicine." The lack of customer service and efficiency is astounding given the significance of being responsible for individuals' health and wellness. I have decided to move my prescriptions to another pharmacy where customers are treated with respect and urge others to do the same so this location can finally get the message that their pharmacy needs a serious overhaul! read more

Congratulations CVS #2427... your pharmacy appalled me so much I'm taking the time to write my first ever negative review. Pharmacy hours are stated 9:00AM to 7:00PM Mon - Fri. At 6:53PM, I arrive at the pharmacy and a disabled gentleman bound in a wheelchair arrives immediately after me. There were two individuals ahead in the line, making the total count of customers four. At 6:55PM, after the first person in line finished his transaction, a staff member (not the clerk) announces to the disabled gentleman and I, that the pharmacy would close after the next customer (2nd in line, and now at the counter) was taken care of. We both discuss the matter with the staff member, explaining how we were already in line, we both just needed to pick up a script, AND it wasn't 7PM yet. The staff member just replied "You have to get here before close". When we both reiterated that it wasn't 7PM yet, the staff member checks his watch and quips back "People have trains to catch." At 6:58PM I stepped up to the counter as the prior customer left and held out my phone displaying the time, stating it wasn't right for them to close early and reiterated the fact we had both been in line before closing time. The clerk proceeds to retrieve my Rx and I finish my transaction right at 7:00PM. She then tells the wheelchair bound customer it's now 7PM and they're closed, and turns her back on him. Shame on you CVS. This is not how you should treat your customers. read more

I just left CVS on Park Ave. South and 18th St and wanted to share my experience. I was helped out by a wonderful employee there named Lauren. She was so friendly and pleasant-I wish everyone at shops around the city had her disposition and attitude. I had come in with a bunch of coupons and had to renew my extra care account and Lauren helped me navigate it all. It probably would have been too complicated to do myself at one of the self check-out stations. Lauren was a big help-hope CVS values this lovely woman. read more

This is only a review of the pharmacy itself, but every single time I've been there there is some issue with my medication and an excuse given by them. This past time, they refused to fill a prescription because the doctor didnt "write it clearly". I had to ask what they meant by that given pharmaceutical orders are sent online these days, and the staff member sort of half-heartedly 'explained' that the doctor didn't provide enough info for the drug to be given. So, I call my doctor who asks if I can put them on the phone with the pharmacy staff. It isn't busy at this point, so that shouldn't be an issue, but when I say I've got my doctor on the phone, they tell me the doctor has to call through the automated line. Sigh. My doctor does so and calls me back after waiting a bit and tells me without hesitation "wow! The staff there are just wonderful", which is drowning in sarcasm. I laugh in agreement, and my doctor tells me they hung up on them twice. That's absurd. I'm on the transplant list. I should not be struggling to get my medication. My health is important. I would use Capsule pharmacy 100% of the time if certain legalities didn't prevent the delivery of narcotics. I've also used the Duane Reade/Walgreens store right on the corner of 14th st (same avenue) just a few blocks down from this CVS and would HIGHLY recommend that pharmacy OR Capsule pharmacy to anyone that is not here purely because of insurance coverage issues. I was born with a congenital heart defect and fully understand medications have a lot of legalities and red tape you have to go through with insurance approval and doctor authorization because the US Healthcare system is fucking awful, but at least be nice about it. EXPLAIN what I need to do to remedy the situation instead of just saying "we can't fill this", or "the doctor didn't write it clearly" all while holding a fixed scowl on your faces while I, as the customer, am offering up please's, thank you's, and excuse me's. That's common customer service. I shouldn't have to be explaining that. I will say that the pharmacist herself, when I've spoken to her, is pleasant enough and offers good explanations or helpful advice if any issues need to be resolved, but usually she is busy filling prescriptions and I almost never get to speak to her directly. I really wish she would notice how horrible the staff is and how poorly they treat customers. Just let them go. Start over again and find new staff. It isnt worth it to be paying employees who are driving business away from your service. LE SIGH! read more

Needed some cash to do some shopping at the Union Square Greenmarket recently so I dropped in here to use the machine. As I cook naked a lot at home now the market is a great way to score some fresh ingredients for my culinary adventures. Initially I was told it would be 20 minutes, but when I mentioned that I had to get back before my babysitter left, the pharmacist expedited my prescription and I was out the door within 5-10 minutes. I'm typically not impressed by drug stores, but this CVS location pleasantly surprised me. I came here late on a Friday night and raided their Valentine's Day candy (50% off the day after VDay!). I wandered around the aisles for a bit because a friend was going to meet me there and I guess I appeared to be lost or that I was unable to find something. this is serious. my pulmonologist told me to get the RSV vaccination and specifically said to get the Pfizer one, based on my medical history. I told the pharmacist that it had to be Pfizer. she shrugged and said ok. I went back the next day because I realized I hadn't taken the receipt with the vaccine info on it for my records. when I looked at it I saw I had been given the GSK one. it turns out CVS doesn't carry Pfizer. I was lied to and misled by the pharmacist; all she had to do was tell me that they didn't carry Pfizer. I had other options and would have gone elsewhere. This is a serious violation regarding my health. i obviously can't get the Pfizer one now. It is not the first time that CVS has messed up for me-( a few other times with prescriptions). - just google CVS lawsuits-prescription mistakes)I will be reporting this violation to every regulatory agency there is. don't go there if your health is means a to you. read more

The circular here is smaller than the circular in Queens, why? I suppose if you need to catch an item on sale on a Queens flyer, it won't be on sale in Manhattan. This is why I love CVS-- I can get 6 (that's right-- SIX) bottles of vitamins, 2 big Secret spray deodorants, 2 Colgate toothpastes, a thing of hairspray, a 14-pack of razors and pictures from the photomat for 34 bucks. (that's right-- 34 bucks!) A purchase that cost nearly $70 without coupons. I go back to CVS for the coupons. I don't always use them, but I know that whenever I buy something (anything!) i will get a coupon. And on those rare occassions when I can use the $10 off coupon + some random $2 coupon (yep, you can use more than one coupon at once) and combine it with buy-one-get-one-free vitamins and dollar-off toothpaste (yep, you can combine coupons with in-store specials), my somewhat-out-of-the-way travels to the magical land they call CVS become totally worth it. Plus it's bigger and cleaner and generally better-maintained than all the duane reades in the hood. And yeah, duane reade has a "coupon card," but you know how often they give me a coupon? ...Like once every 364th time I go in. ...for a dollar. read more

The staff in the Pharmacy here really impressed me recently by going far and beyond what I would expect from a chain Pharmacy. When a prescription of mine was no longer being manufactured and they ran out in the facility, they tracked down an existing dosage at another location, and put it on hold for me. All before everything was 100% in check for me to be able to pick it up. I am INCREDIBLY impressed by this Minute Clinic. I went twice in the late evening to get a TB skin test reading. The check-in machine is easy to use, and there's also an online system that you can find on the CVS website that can "hold" you a spot in line until you arrive in person. I never had to deal with a line, and both visits were in the late afternoon. For my first visit, I met with Jennifer Cosaluzzo. She administered the first portion of my TB screening and gave me thorough information about next steps. Even though she was spending labor day weekend inside, she was still very upbeat and funny, which I really appreciated. My second visit 2 days later went the same way - very seamless and fast. This time, I met with Svenja Richter, who was very polite and quickly read my TB results. She asked me a few questions about my medical history and asked if I had any questions about the reading results. I didn't, so she quickly printed out my receipt & the skin test reports. Overall, I was very pleased with the service I received at this Minute Clinic. I came here thinking that I'd get mediocre service and grumpy practitioners, but boy was I totally wrong. Keeping in mind that the same screening would have cost me ~$200 out of pocket at CityMD, I'm so happy that CVS offers this service for under $70. I will definitely come again! read more

Super convenient high-traffic central CVS location. Subject to what time of day, parking can be nightmare hit or miss. And between 8-5 just forget about it. But if you are in walking distance, it is the best place for that. They have so much more than what you would expect, and on few occasions it saved me the trouble of buying some here and some on other places. I just wanted one item that was hard to find. When I asked one of the staff to help it was like I didn't exit. I understand someone feeling drained at work, we all have our moments but this wasn't cool. The brightly lit interior may have had the reverse effect on the staff here. Instead of being bright and cheery like in a Disney cartoon it was more film noir but without the appeal. Frightening. Maybe management should try mood lighting. read more

UPDATE 2: This CVS is now open 24 hours. So you now have the chance to do the minimum wage job of scanning and bagging all your items 24 hours a day. UPDATE: This CVS now has only automated checkouts -- there is not even the option to go to a register and pay. Sorry CVS, I am not going to shop at a store that makes you scan and bag all your items yourself. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This CVS, at Park and 18th, is just like every other CVS. You've seen one, you've seen them all. So why bother writing a review of CVS? Because this CVS never has more than one cashier on duty. There could be ten people waiting on line, and there will still be one cashier on duty. Notice I said 'on duty'. Because there are always two or three other people behind the counter, doing who knows what. Talking on the phone. Organizing the stock. Standing around. But whatever they're doing, they're completely oblivious to the long line forming at the one cashier's register, or unmotivated to do anything about it. At least once a week I walk into this CVS and immediately turn around and leave, due to the long line. CVS, spring for the extra $7 bucks an hour and hire another friggin' cashier. Whenever I write to CVS corporation about this problem, rather than fixing it, they send me a $5 gift card. I have gotten a number of gift cards this way. To add insult to injury they routinely get my gender wrong and refer to me as 'Ms. Lee ______' in their reply letter. The other thing that sucks about this CVS is that it closes at 10. CVS, this is New York, the city that never sleeps. This is not Woonsocket, RI, or whatever sleepy suburb CVS headquarters is located in. Get with it. The Duane Reade nearby stays open until at least midnight. The only redeeming factor about shopping at this CVS, aside from its convenient location between the subway and my apartment, is that they have the cheapest cereal and ice cream around. Cereal is usually around $4.99, compared to $6.50 from the supermarket, and they often have 2/$5 specials if you bother to get one of their discount cards. And Edy's Ice Cream is around $2 cheaper than the $7.99 ripoff at the nearby Food Emporium. Those are the only reasons I shop at CVS. read more
