Recently visited here because of all of the hype after watching Love Story (JFK Jr. and CBK - iykyk), and it was such a cute spot! Recently learned that it is one of the oldest apothecaries in America, and they pretty much have anything you need! Definitely stop by if you're in the area, even just to take a look. They have a variety of things from the Mason Pearson hair brush, Marvis toothpaste, and so so many little hair accessories. I could honestly spend all day looking at their little trinkets and accessories, from the headbands to looking at the different ways you can use the hair accessories they have. Honestly had so much fun here, though it was a bit busy when we went on a Sunday morning (a lot of people browsing through their headbands and whatnot as well). A really unique pharmacy that brings a little piece of France to NYC. They carry a great selection of hard-to-find French products you'd normally have to go to Paris for, which is a huge plus. I love this store so much and have been shopping here since I can remember. I loved the Co Bigelow products since before they sold out to Bath and Bodyworks. They have a great selection and small travel sizes in the back. There's also a huge variety of beauty products from a variety of brands. They have fun accessories like hair clips, key chains and jewelry. I remember once getting a lighter ring here that actually spun - so rock and roll. On a day trip to NYC for the first time, and this shop was first on our itinerary! We saw the shop on tiktok and were so intrigued by the cute claw clips. When visiting though, extremely disappointed. The shop was extremely crowded even on a weekday afternoon, which I guess isn't their fault, but is something to take into consideration, although the layout of the place doesn't help with the foot traffic and cramped feeling. Besides that, staff was rude, stand offish, and downright bitchy. No attempts for service was made and upon asking the price of a hair pin, ($30 btw) was given an attitude. The products are expensive, maybe the quality makes up for it but I wouldn't know because a lot of the products were in glass cases. Great products, but wouldn't visit again, and really disappointed. read more

If you're looking for an iconic spot to visit while picking up some amazing personal products, this is the spot in NYC! Established in the 19th century, this store offers gorgeous antique cabinets and ceilings in its environment along with a super friendly, super cute resident tuxedo kitty. Their own personal line of Bigelow products, including the amazing lemon hand wash & lotion as well as the iconic tin of rose salve, are conveniently located in the front of the store. There are also samples and complete price lists, which is always appreciated! Bigelow also has a large, beautiful selection of the famous hair clips that Caroline Bessette Kennedy often purchased here. The staff was meh. Despite the fact that it is a tiny entry way & they are all literally huddled together standing there when you enter (as opposed to being evenly spread throughout the store in case you need help) they sort of just stand there & stare at you awkwardly when you enter. I was eyeing a certain hair clip at the counter for a few minutes and no one approached me to ask if they could show me something or if I could use some help. This surprised me because again they were all huddled at the entrance of the store. The resident tuxedo kitty is ADORABLE & friendly. Be sure to say hi! This is also a full-service pharmacy and seems to have most basic personal medical supplies as well as a great selection of personal hygiene products. Visiting NYC soon? Buyer Beware. NO RETURNS accepted! I bought a table top magnifying mirror only to discover the magnification was wrong. When I returned to the store to exchange it the next day I was told they don't accept returns or exchanges on "accessories" - they pointed out that this policy is printed on the back of the receipt - in tiny gray letters. Let me reiterate - on the BACK of the RECEIPT. In other words, I should have read the entire receipt front and back after paying, before leaving the store. A sales person took the mirror from the locked case and handed it to me to purchase from a cashier - two store staff members - neither one of them mentioned this policy. So much for shopping small - at C.O. Bigelow customer service is non-existent. I guess Amazon IS the best place to shop after all. read more

I absolutely love their line of products! I was first introduced to them many years ago at Bath & Body Works. The Mentha Vitamin Body Wash and Lemon Hand Wash were the only items I would ever buy from that store. They could never keep it in stock so I started ordering them online directly from the source. Unfortunately, they have temporarily discontinued my favorite body wash for at least a year (maybe more). It kind of forced me to check out more of their body washes. So far, my favorite scents have been musk, eucalyptus, and bay rum. They've been good replacements. Also, the Lotio Mentholus is great for dry skin. It's soothing and relaxing, and has a great scent. I've never actually visited the store in NYC, but I wish they would branch out. I'd definitely seek it out if I ever go back to New York. They appear to have more products than what I've seen online. The ones I've tried are always reliable and have withstood the test of time. They are very gentle on sensitive skin. Their fragrances are relaxing. I'll continue to order them from their online store. I also hope they bring back my favorite Mentha Vitamin Body Wash soon. It has certainly been missed. read more

I wished I can physically visit and be fully immersed transported back in time. My supply of shampoo and conditioner are running low and I am seeking a set specifically for maintain round-the-clock moisture for dry and brittle hair. I am enamored with all things lavender specifically soap and bath gels. COB Lavender Peppermint Shampoo 10 oz, $18.00 COB Lavender Peppermint Conditioner 10 oz, $18.00 The shampoo and conditioner are mediocre, but both emit a light fragrance and does provide sufficient moisture to my dry hair damaged by the daily grind of the Sisyphus Task, UV rays, NYC disgusting mangy air pollution, and plaguing NYC's summer heat and high intense humidity. The products were satiated to get the job done. COB sends standard emails of "order confirmation", "invoice", and "order shipped" notifications. The best pharmacy in the world, period. There is a reason Mark Twain filled his prescriptions here! This is a secret, hidden gem of a pharmacy in New York City, where most people don't think to have their prescriptions filled. All the pharmacy staff knows you by name, and if you don't live close by, they will deliver to your house for $7 - a steal when a Metro Card just to get there is more than $5. One time I had my prescriptions called in, but they delivered it to my house without me asking and charged me the $7; when I told them I'd never asked them to deliver the prescription, they happily refunded the fee, no problem. Besides for the lovely pharmacy staff, there are so many positive things about America's oldest pharmacy. There is an adorable black and white cat who sometimes sleeps in the window and is sometimes roaming around the store, I even got to pet him one time even though a lot of the staff says he is not very friendly. They have really cool, old pharmacy "stuff" from the 1800's that could be from a museum, like the old scale they used to use to weigh drugs. And if that's not enough, they have their own skincare and cosmetics line, as well as products from brands that are hard to find. You'll never get bored in this pharmacy! read more

This is the only pharmacy to go to. The staff follows up on EVERYTHING. I know that if a doctor sends a prescription that needs a prior authorization, even from the most disorganized office, the staff will follow up with the doctor and the insurance company, and I will get the prescription. I switched to Bigelow from the chain drugstores about 3 years ago, after too many issues with having to wait weeks for prescriptions that I need to take daily. The staff is lovely. Every single person. I am a pain in the ass person and am there at least once a week, and have never had a bad experience. Pluss..... MAKEUP COUNTER!!!!! Interesting apothecary and pharmacy with a lot of unique and hard to find beauty, scent, and self care products. The staff are generally helpful. The only downside is most of the colognes and perfumes are behind locked glass cabinets and you have to ask for help (which I totally understand why) but it can stifle my interest because I always feel like I have to decide quickly.
