fairly large CVS for NYC, located near Columbus Circle. most items are on the second floor. there's self-checkout options on both floors. to no fault of their own, CVS has nearly all items on the second floor behind plastic locked barriers on each shelf to prevent thievery. Bravo on defeating crime but you have to wait to get an item by paging a CVS employee. ultimately, i couldn't find the items i was looking for bc of the plastic barriers of doom on the shelves and bc the layout and organization of items kinda suck. ended up going to a CVS where everything isn't locked down and found what i was looking for. while i get it's a no win situation for CVS, but if you have a lot of items to buy...i wouldn't recommend this location. truly another reason why we all can't have nice things. read more

CVS pharmacy's deliveries are extremely unreliable. on Monday 10pm I requested a Rx refill, leaving a voicemail and requesting a call back to confirm the order. I received a text stating that I'd receive a return call "shortly" At 2:13AM CVS called, the phone rang once and they hung up. The same thing happened at 5:57AM. It's now Wednesday 10pm and I still don't have my Rx, I've left another message reminding CVS that I'm going out of town and need the prescription. Two weeks ago I requested another refill, it took 3 phone calls and 3 days before I recieved my delivery. Holy crap what a s... show. Some guy came in bleeding and they let him wonder up and down the 2 floors. I had to walk around blood drops all over the floors throughout the store. Security didn't do anything and the employees kind of laughed about it. I was there for probably 15min and no one tried to clean it up. Maybe you need a hazmat team to clean this now, who knows. Other observations: They lock up various items but let people just pick up and eat food while in the store. This one dude was dropping crumbs from his sandwich everywhere. He only paid for chips. I'm in the minority here but I actually like this CVS. Staff, including security is very courteous. The security gentleman up front greets everyone and the ladies at checkout are friendly. We're from out of town and my wife who needs distilled water for her CPAP machine can always find it. Yeah, waiting for a staffer to unlock the cabinets is inconvenient, but they eventually respond. I scheduled an appointment at CVS to get my ears flushed because I couldn't hear out of one ear and wanted to check for potentially impacted earwax (an issue I've had previously). The appointment was easy to make online and gave me a price estimate for the service, which none of the local urgent care locations would. I arrived right at my appointment time, was promptly greeted by the physician, who brought me into the office, diagnosed that my assumption about impacted ear wax was correct and flushed both of my ears. I was in and out, with my hearing completely restored, in about 20 minutes. Huge thanks to CVS and its workers for helping me with my health! read more

Useless. Notify me that there is a prescription that will be ready in the evening. I go in the next day, after standing in line for 15 minutes, because there is only one person on and 13 people in line, it is not ready. I speak to the pharmacist and she said it will be ready in 15 minutes. No explanation as to why it wasn't ready. 15 minutes became 35 minutes. The pharmacist was telling everybody 15 minutes, knowing that it was a blatant lie. Place clearly needs a manager. Literally the worst customer service experience ever. said the door to retrieve locked items is broken instead of just getting my items.

My friends and I stopped here for some necessities as we were touring around Manhattan. I was in need of some water, while my friends needed to buy some miscellaneous items for their stay at a local hotel. This CVS location has 2 stories, but we found everything we needed on the first floor. Checkout was quick, as we were able to go to a self-checkout station. There were two employees at the door, both to greet customer and to make sure no trouble makers come inside. They were friendly people, as was the rest of the staff here. I went to the Minute Clinic recently and loved it. It was east to make an appointment at the kiosk. I didn't know they actually have a fully equipped clinic here. It was great! I feel like I received very good care here. The nurse practitioner was very calm and kind and attentive to me. She spent a good deal of time with me asking questions and listening. I was not feeling too good that day and I received 2 covid tests and a flu test. She called me a few days later to check up on me. Seemed like I got better care here than in my doctors office. We ended up going there after three of us got sick from eating at Carnegie Diner the evening before. We needed medication to get us through the day (and it did). The good: Lots of choices of articles to get. Two floors of goodies (but what you are probably looking for is on the second floor). Staff helpful and asks us if we needed help. The bad: Only self checkout. Cash line area confusing and tight. Prices can be expensive for a Canadian. Alleys are small and narrow. If you want reasonable customer service, don't go there, this store has no staff training, no customer service at all. I asked three staff if the product was available since the website mentioned it was in stock. The first staff said to ask ANYONE who wore the red T-shirt, and he was actually. The 2nd one answered nothing, and then I requested to talk to the manager who had just passed by, she told me to talk to the cashier; how could the cashier know what product if I didn't have it on hand?? I am generally a fan of the CVS decor and operation but not much of the price. I am a price conscientious customer but between the choice of CVS and Duane Reade I will some how always choose CVS just because CVS has the self check out kiosk and the store layout. I like this CVS because there is a minute clinic next to the pharmacy department, extremely convenient There happens to be a CVS staff member at every corner I turn on both floors when ever I am stuck in a jam like when the coupon machine stops spitting out the coupons or inquiring where the baby products are located. This location is definitely a one stop shop...and it's a bonus that it is surrounded by major retail banking institutions and upper and second tier retail establishments. read more

I'm a bit frightened of drugstores that have escalators going to an upper floor. I don't know why...maybe I'm scared of what's up there. Thermometers, medicines, "lady" products and all sorts of other things that frighten me, I imagine. However, the downstairs is a sunny and welcoming area that houses the grocery area and that's usually all I need. (Because like Marky Mark, I'm anti D-R-U-G, and that includes Tylenol and Anacin). They have lots of drinks, snacks and of course, the elusive 5th Avenue candy bars. Check out is a snap at the self-serve kiosks. They are quick, easy and there's no interacting with annoying human beings (other than myself, naturally)! Yay robots! So for the convenient snacks and drinks area, I'm giving this three stars. read more

These 5 stars are for Keisha in the pharmacy - every single one of them. She's wonderful. I came in late on a Sunday night to fill an rx for terrible tooth pain and needing their assistance with processing insurance. Keisha was beyond helpful, but more importantly beyond friendly, which meant the world to my pain-addled self. She even complimented my Ravenclaw wallet and we talked Potter houses for a bit. Never have I ever encountered a CVS employee (or any other pharmacy employee for that matter) who was so friendly, helpful, and compassionate. I am so appreciative. Plus this location is open 24/7 which helps for emergency prescriptions that need filling. read more

I have never dealt with a pharmacy at either CVS or Duane Reade that wasn't horrible. If there's one out there where you don't have to wait on hold for 30 minutes before giving up, then having to visit the location to encounter more incompetence, I'd love to hear about it. No one ever knows what went wrong and no one is ever responsible. My doctor sent in a prescription 2 days ago. For 2 days I tried to figure out why they never filled it. This morning when I visited the pharmacy a woman told me they weren't accepting new patients for my medication. Why wasn't I notified? She didn't know. Why would she? She just works there. Does her boss know? Does he or she care? Is there any incentive for anyone who works here to care about patients? Am I being unreasonable? Is it totally acceptable for me to waste hours trying to check the status of a prescription? Does anyone in New York have hours to waste on something that should take less than a minute? My daughter was vaccinated at the CVS pharmacy on the 57th street in Manhattan. Unfortunately the 1st shot of her vaccination was not transmitted to the registry of New York State. And now they do not want to help me on that issue. I can not get the Excelsior pass. No help is offered while the New York State instructions mention it is the responsibility of the vacciné provider to make sure correct information is transmitted to its registry. This CVS is massive and will have whatever it is you want/need/think you need. - pharmacy - optical center - literally whatever else you're looking for: there are maybe 15 assorted brands of lip balm, 4 brands of whatever over the counter drug you need, and rows and rows of makeup, skin care, and hair care products. The one thing that makes me sad about CVS is that after immediately after I make a purchase, I always seem to get a coupon for whatever it is that I already purchased. So that's kind of annoying. I love CVS i mean who doesn't?!? They are known for their non-stop coupon action as soon as you scan your CVS extracare card or punch in your phone number at one of the coupon machine. Ever since i moved to NY, i have been frequenting CVS more than RiteAid. Sadly, it's kinda hard to find the chic and glamorous CVS like this one if you live in Queens. Yea they have 24/7 CVS also in Queens but most of the time i can't find the items that i wanted. This big and bright location is on 57th and 8th, making it hard to miss by everybody. It has two floors and they also have bathroom on the 2nd floor. Pharmacy is also located on the 2nd floor. They are pretty keen in restocking and most staffs are pretty helpful. As per August 2017, they are doing some renovation here and there. Expect to find your favorite toilet paper downstair instead of upstair. Beauty is still on the 2nd floor and what's more interesting is the addition of Korean beauty products. Nope, im not kiddin. Bathroom is still there, phew. And yes, checkout is kinda messed up on the 1st floor. One thing that kinda annoys me is the photo printing section. It seems that whenever i go there, there's always one that malfunctions. Or both. The only time it actually worked was last year when out of the blue they had promotion for 2.99 prints. So i printed some of my photos from the flash drive. quality was pretty good although tbh i'd go to Walgreens or DuaneReade for better photo service. read more
