I was a regular client at this real New York Mom & Pop store from 1992 when I moved here from Chicago until 1999 when I got married and we moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I have used this pharmacy intermittently since it opened. I will NOT be going back. I believe in supporting small business' vs. big chains but NOT here. The staff is rude. They comment about you while you wait for your rx to be filled. Then when confronted about this lack of professional behavior the manager and pharmacist grew irate and refused to fill the prescription. because I complained about them talking about about me while standing there!! Hostile misogynist management trickles down to all staff. Apparently this business is not concerned about retaining customers. In fact they don't seem to need them. Avoid like the plague. I have been to Park West Pharmacy a few times and have decided, I will now shop there for all of my pharmacy needs. It is great to shop at a local neighborhood store and not some corporate or chain store. Some items may be more expensive here than at Duane Reade, but overall the price is fair. The Pharmacist is wonderful! I went in there last night for some over the counter meds and she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and got me exactly what I needed. The staff is all very friendly as well! I highly recommend shopping here and supporting their business, its a much better experience than any of the chain stores. read more

Park West provides a level of customer service and care that is rarely seen today. The pharmacists are always helpful and will contact your doctor as needed, answer questions, discuss possible drug side effects and interactions, and generally take excellent care of you. Likewise for the entire staff. The manager of Park West is considerate to a fault. He always gives me a warm hello, and will order products I request, arrange for prompt delivery of medications and other items to my apartment on the occasions I am not feeling well, and generally takes care of my entire family (including my mother who, in her 90s, had her share of emergency deliveries from this drug store). A friend of mine is about to move to the neighborhood, and one of the first places I mentioned to her is my fabulous pharmacy, Park West. read more

Up until this afternoon, I would have said I was very pleased with their service. However, THAT died a quick death today during a disagreement about whether they'd already filled a prescription for me or not. In the course of trying to figure out what had gone wrong, the old man who either owns the place or runs the pharmacy made it painfully clear that no matter what the actual problem was, the (completely unrelated to the issue at hand) fact that I take Adderall for ADHD makes me automatically suspect. He mentioned it four times in ten minutes. Since I was trying to pick up my impossible-to-abuse thyroid medication ... irrelevant is kind of an understatement. Pro-tip: demonstrating contempt for your customer's medical conditions makes you BOTH unprofessional AND a hypocrite. I probably would have shrugged and moved on if it had just been a case of crossed wires. But to be sneered at and treated with disrespect by one of the medical professionals supposedly there to help ... pass. I'll be finding a new pharmacy. read more

Great neighborhood drug store! We have been going here for years and are very pleased with their professionalism and great choice of items. It is just wonderful to be able to walk down Columbus Avenue and have a real pharmacy, that is not part of a chain, to fill prescriptions and buy all kinds of staples - from greeting cards to vitamins. It's interesting, I was looking for a cream with glycolic acid and found a line called Aqua Glycolic. I took a chance and bought some hand and body lotion and looked it up online when I got home for reviews. I found info on drugstore.com and guess what? Not only was it top rated, but it was 10% cheaper at Park West. I love the idea that by shopping here I am supporting the small businesses in my neighborhood. I live in the neighborgood and have been going to Park West Pharmacy to support the small moms-and-pops stores for years. HOWEVER, because of my recent experience I will think twice before I go there. I went to fill a fluoride prescription for my son, and the supposed owner flat out lied to me about the availability of what I wated. He sold me, something else instead. After speaking with my pharmacist friend, I determined that Park West misrepresented information, and went back to ask for refund. The same guys almost laughed in my face. Terrible customer service, but even worse, incompetent pharmacist. STAY AWAY!!! read more

This is, hand to God, the greatest pharmacy since sliced bread! Everyone there is so kind and helpful (esp. Claude and Kenny); they will bend over backwards to help you with your prescriptions and will literally fight for you if your insurance company is giving you a hard time. I will never go back to another pharmacy. Park West is way above and beyond all the Duane Reades, the CVSs, the Walgreens, etc. They have saved my life (no exaggeration) more than a few times. My doctor even loves them. They know me by name! What big-name chain pharmacy customer can say that? They also have great everyday and specialty health and beauty items and are always willing to special order what you cannot find on the shelf. I highly recommend. :) read more

Park West is a great neighborhood institution. You are not a number in here. Try going to CVS, you will be, you practically have to take a number. Here, there may be a line, but they know their customers by name and take good care of us. I like the owner, I trust the pharmacists and they are so helpful answering questions. I like all of the employees. When you are picking up prescriptions, you appreciate the fact that they know what kind of generic you tolerate best. If you want something in the merchandise line they will order it. I buy a lot of household items here as well. And when not feeling well, I have had deliveries. Very convenient for me because I live on the park where there is no commerce. We just pop to Columbus for our Park West Pharmacy! read more

Forget CVS and Duane Reade - This is a great pharmacy! The earlier negative reviews refer to an older pharmacist who is no longer there (I know, I had trouble with him too). The new owner/pharmacist, Kenny, is wonderful. Prescriptions are usually filled within minutes. If you call, there is no wait or annoying auto-menu to get through to speak with a pharmacist. They will promptly call your doctor for refills and will assist you with "vacation" length refills. They also deliver. The price for medications are the same, and in the case of one of medications, cheaper, than CVS. The rest of the staff is courteous, helpful and informed. The store is well-stocked with other items such as over-the-counter medications, toiletries, vitamins, etc. (including greeting cards and reading glasses). Again, the prices compare to the those of the chain stores. If they don't have what you want, they will order it and call you when it comes in, usually the next day. I have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years. Many of the local businesses are closing as more people chose to shop at the chain stores. We need to support our local businesses that still provide personalize services with a real human touch. read more
