This is an ideal CVS location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan (East side). I've only been here once but I love how well organized the aisles are at this CVS. Also, although many items are locked up, the employees do not take too long to come around and assist you. There is self checkout here which allows you to grab what you need and go quickly. We went here today and the employees were again *terrific*. I was using two gift certificate cards for my purchases, but the cashier (who was very pleasant and patient) was having trouble getting one of them to work. He called over someone who I'm assuming was the manager, and she was also very pleasant & patient. It took quite awhile before everything was resolved, but they remained terrific throughout that time. I work in the area, and generally speaking The people who work here tend to be helpful and polite more often than not. Today was my first time using the pharmacy at this location. There were several physicians back there. When I was up next, there was a young man who asked for my information and said he doesn't need any ID, which seemed a little strange to me initially. Then he found my prescription but kept talking to other people about my prescription, etc. Then he told me to step down to another lady who had a very projectile voice and was assuming I knew that my insurance didn't cover the total and goes "so you're ok paying the total?" As if I wouldn't be able to cover the huge $15 total cost. I said it's fine (not even understanding why everything was taking so long and the initial guy who assisted me did not explain anything to me. So she walks away and whispers something about me- or my prescription to another physician in the back and they're making snide comments. I was very confused as to why I was being treated as if I was a criminal or something when I was just trying to pick up a prescription. They were looking at me like I had the plague. Then she sent me back over to the original guy to pay. At this point, I was very turned off. It was a very uncomfortable experience and I need to make sure as to not have my prescription sent this way. Between his lack of communication and just dismissing me, and her yelling my business out with people in earshot, then the snickering or whatever they were chatting about, it was very unpleasant. Just for future reference, as a manager, I would advise the company to have training on how to assist clients. ESPECIALLY with sensitive experiences such as retrieving medication. So bad I had to complain to corporate. I dont know what it is about this location but the pharmacy staff are over the top combative. Today I tried to pick up a prescription and they gave me the incorrect medication so I let them know and I was yelled at "for being combative"...I said "ms I'm simply letting you know this isnt the perscription I am here to pick up"... and this is not the first time, last month the first words out of the pharmacists mouth was "can you calm down"...I had literally not said a single work, I had simply walked up to the counter...it was beyond odd. I understand that they likely encounter hostile people here and there but i assure you I wasnt one of them, and they are ready to pop off on anyone who comes through the door. If my insurance allowed me to pick up my medications anywhere else I would. They are HORRIBlE, my husband joked that you need to have a therapist on standby if you go there. read more

I recently visited this cvs pharmacy and was accused of stealing alcohol for just opening my backpack. It was cold outside and I just needed to warm up, but there were these two lady workers who accused me of putting beer in my bag and all I was doing was looking for tissues in my sweatpants. Their opinion definitely changed once they saw I was wearing a suit under my jacket and sweater. Definitely a terrible experience for me especially when I showed them by bag had nothing in it. Store #3752. This CVS Pharmacy sits conveniently on Lexington Avenue of Midtown East and operates 24/7. There is a food department where patrons can attain a cheap sandwich, or salad on the go as they are delivered the same day. Three self-serve checkouts are present but not fully operable and six empty void human cashiers are invisible. An employee is not always present to demonstrate the instructions of operating the self-serve checkout as I had to utilize two machines where the first was not accepting cash. For those of you who read my reviews frequently, you know that I generally grant five stars to any establishment which carries 5th Avenue candy bars. So that's why this is five stars. In addition, this place had everything I came for, which is a bonus because I hate making a trip to the store only to come up one item short. Also, the cashier was friendly, charming, handsome and efficient ...even if he'd had a couple of beers and two margaritas before ringing me up. Did I mention they have self service checkout? Which leads me to the question, why does it always seem that the self service checkout is so much faster than having another human check you out? I don't want to malign the cashiers at the Rite Aid, CVS or Duane Reade but if that's your only job, shouldn't you be more efficient than someone that does it only when they need to buy toothpaste? read more

This CVS is open 24 hours (as is the pharmacy). Even in the era of COVID 19 lockdown. Also, the selection of cat food is terrific. Fancy Feast 99 cents. Sheba is a good deal too. Large food section (fridge and dry). Nice staff. Duane Reade is terribly overpriced and I plan to come here more often. read more

apparently cvs stores in nyc don't have bathrooms like cvs do anywhere else on street corners so when i needed to go number 2 i almost went in the store because they did not have a bathroom i could use (and i'm pretty sure there's a bathroom for employees somewhere they just don't hold themselves for 7 hours at work) but 2 stars for the girl who told me where there was a bathroom but sad that cvs's in nyc don't give customers bathroom access like everywhere else it's a pharmacy and store they sell medications to help people use the bathroom but won't help with allowing bathroom access! read more

I have not shopped in this CVS very frequently. On this date I did find the cashiers and other employees very friendly and helpful. When I phoned ahead to be sure they had what I needed in stock, they answered very timely. The employee checked and told me the isle to look in to find the Face Masks. When I went on line this was the only CVS listed as having the protective masks available. The pharmacist said all CVS should have them. I wasn't taking any chances. I had other places I wanted to go to in this neighborhood so I took care of all my errands at once. It is a nice neighborhood. The train stop is right across the street. Very convenient in winter. I usually walk down to midtown. You probably know how it is with chain pharmacies. It's hit or miss. I can say I did have a really good experience on February 18, 2017. One note: The MAsks were two dollars more in the store than if ordered on line. At least you don't pay for shipping. Plus you get your item right away. read more

Had a surprisingly great experience at this cvs. I was warmly greeted by everyone working-- even the staff restocking the product. I had an emergency where I needed a quick refill from the pharmacy and from the phone call to the in store experience, everything was quick and seamless. Convenient. Needed to take passport sized pics and it took awhile for an employee to help me out. This location is always packed and the employees are usually disorganized. The prices are a bit cheaper here on certain items compared to Duane Reade. This store is not the most organized nor is it all that tidy but there is a whole lot of traffic in and out of here. O M G. If you ever need a pharmacy, beware!!!!!! I love CVS. I really do. But WOW. Service at the pharmacy here is horrible!!! Especially during daylight hours. I think the only decent service is during the late night shift. I've gotten attitude on the phone as well as in person. Simple questions and requests are met with just outright poor customer service. It's obvious you're busy but just because you are doesn't mean you need to talk down to people, be curt or just downright ignore people standing in line. Anytime during normal business hours the lines are ridiculously long and go down one aisle and times even worse. Get a call saying your script is ready for pickup?! Call first. But oh wait, even if you do and they say it's ready, when you show up you'll probably have to wait another hour for it. nice. Are they out of your refill? Expecting a call telling you that? sorry! no can do. You'll just have ot show up to pick it up and find out then that you'll need to come back in a few days... Yes. Horror pharmacy stories!!! Waited 60 minutes online with my son. One pharmacist on duty, line of 6 people sitting in aisle waiting, while people who are not sick are getting COVID shots jumping in line in front. I've always been more loyal to CVS than Duane Reade simply because the perks of their membership program are truly worth it. Tons of coupons and tons of savings throughout the store! This location is small and outdated. It still has the funky CVS carpeting I had not seen in years prior to visiting this location. The lights are dim, the aisles are narrow. However they have better prices than DR and self-checkout. The self-checkout also lets you lookup your membership by phone number so you don't miss out on any savings! The staff is hit or miss but you don't have to interact with them much. Convenient location being across the street from the train. read more

Disorganized place with rude staff. They act like they don't want to be there. If they don't, they should leave because there will be plenty of other people who would love to take their jobs. A lot of items are out of stock too and not enough staff who is re-stocking. I like the location though and the self-serve checkout only if the employee standing there is not rude and does not treat you like a criminal. Backstory... I received a CVS ratings about the experience so I responded yesterday. Today, I received another email but from the Pharmacy Mgr trying to gaslight my experience with them. This was my response: Wow you are making me respond. Guess now I have to do a yelp review. Ok I had googled that CVS was doing walk-ins but apparently they are CVSs not in NYC. Ok fine. The guy at the counter was RUDE. He wasn't helpful he just said no walk-ins and I asked can I make an app't then? He said, with a shrug "Go ahead but you won't get one for today." That was at 12:45pm. I got an app't for 2:30pm. I sat down in the waiting room area... two women were there with me and I told them I was waiting and all of us wondered why they couldn't give me the shot earlier instead of waiting till the appointed time considering it takes not even 2 mins to administer the shot. (we are coming back to the Rude part) this time the pharmacist kicked me out of the waiting area where I am just quietly waiting till the app't and she said to come back at the appointed time. It was the other ladies receiving shots that said they were sorry to me. This was at 1:00pm. I came back at 2:05pm and wandered around the store. At exactly 2:13pm I walked up to the counter to check in (surely 3 mins early wasn't a big deal!!!) AGAIN, the guy at the counter was rude saying I'm too early!! At this point, I really really was upset but I just had to get the shot and get out! Trust me when I say that people there could've explained things in a nice way and explained why I couldn't wait in the waiting area. No one in the pharmacy (staff) was even wearing masks so what was the problem of allowing me to wait??? Not one person could explain why the rules were such as they were with basic decency. You need shots - find somewhere where they care about people - they don't deserve the business! read more

My above rating is for the Pharmacy section of CVS. I've been going to this CVS for the past 10 years since I started working in the area. Before I used to get wonderful customer service and manners from the employees who work behind the counter in the Pharmacy. Whatever happened? Long story short, I put in a prescription on Monday via the website for Tuesday pickup. I go pick up, I'm told by an employee whose name is "Mohammed" that it's not ready and to come back the next day. I give them TWO DAYS to have it ready and come in on Thursday and I'm told again by the same individual that it's not ready and to come back tomorrow. That would be fine and dandy but I'm going to be out of the country for the next 2 weeks. There's a reason why I put in my prescription early on in the week. So I ask him what's the deal? You told me it'd be ready on Wednesday, it's now Thursday, where is the prescription? So the idiot goes around back, tries to look busy and then comes back to me minutes later and tells me.... THIS PRODUCT IS DISCONTINUED. WHAT THE EFFFF?? If you told me this in the beginning and not give me the fucking runaround, I wouldn't be THIS PISSED OFF. Now I'm stuck w/o the medication, going to be out of the country for the next 2 weeks and this freaking imbecile is telling me that it's fucking discontinued????? Needless to say, I was not happy about it. I asked for the prescription back so I could bring it to another pharmacy, preferably NOT CVS. And I'm waiting, waiting, waiting. HALF AN HOUR GOES BY. I ask again, Where is the prescription? Does it really take this long to pull up a prescription and Mohammed, the asshole, SNAPS at me that they are pulling it up. Uhm Ok. I walked outta there. This CVS pharmacy has the WORSE customer service ever! The workers have such bad attitudes and the only reason people go there is because it's near their jobs. I went to pick up a prescription and when they told me it was going to cost me $85 I almost flipped out. How is that possible when Duane Reade was charging me $90 and that was because I had to pay out of pocket. CVS is suppose to be a participating pharmacy with my insurance. I didn't take the prescription until I spoke to my insurance. I went back to CVS this morning to pick the prescription. The woman couldn't find it so she decides to look it up on the computer. She told me I already paid and picked it up. I said not possible. She said the computer said so. I told her the story and she goes to look for it again. Then she scans it and tells me I picked it up. I said no I didn't and she asks me are you going to pay for it now? I'm thinking if I wasn't going to pay for it why the hell am I back here. So i asked her if I needed a refill can I go to another CVS. She replies NO you don't have any refills and scripts are not transferable. REALLY???? The computers aren't connected??? When I looked at my prescription I realized why it was so expensive and why there was no refills. The INCOMPETENT workers processed the script wrong. What my Rx said: 1. There was suppose to be 2 refills. 2. The prescribed amount was 100. What I got was : 1. NO refills 2. Amount of 300 I guess this pharmacy doesn't know how to read prescription or explain to the customer why the payment was wrong instead of saying call the insurance. I paid 3x as much because the idiots gave me 3x the amount. NEVER AGAIN will I go here, not even to purchase a band-aid if I was bleeding to death......................... read more

I was really excited to see during my first visit here that they carried Haribo gummi bears, and in the ever elusive 'coca-cola' flavor, but the next 4 times I've gone, they don't have it! Oh and the food in the cookies/crackers/chips aisle are all kinda old looking. I would check the date on anything edible you buy here. I bought a clif bar once that looked like it was from 1996. Awful. Super crowded. Long lines. Staff absent. Staff unhelpful. Staff surly. Staff overworked. Sounds like a regular midtown Manhattan low paid employee establishment. As for the pharmacy, my first experience there included: - 20 minutes on line to drop off script - 30 minutes on line to pick up script, at about 7:30pm--there were only 4 people ahead of me in line; 3 of those 4 people had trouble--their order wasn't ready or it wasn't where it should be; the cashier had to keep checking with the pharmacist, searching two computer systems, etc. - my turn at last, and voila, can't find my script. they spelled my name wrong, finally found it - script calls for 10 days of pills, in the bottle is 11 days worth of pills, I wonder if this isn't a reportable error My second (and last) experience to refill the script from above: - doc calls in script about 2pm - I pick it up 7:30ish, can't find it - cashier goes to pharmacist, checks several spellings, etc., nothing - cashier can't keep DOB numbers or letters of my name straight, is confused easily - I leave, knowing the truth--that it's CVS's fault, not my doc's - next day I call doc office to confirm, yep, they called it in - I ask doc to call it into another drug store, won't be using this one ever again So, dear reader, use at your peril. read more

In Manhattan, most pharmacy chains are awful in terms of customer service, but this one is particularly bad. Without painting them all with the same brush as there are a few who are good, the customer facing staff are generally rude and not too intelligent which is a terrible mix. You have to repeat your name several times, they can never find anything, and Lord help you if you call to ask a question or have them correct an error--it's like dealing with Soviet bureaucracy. Now, some folks will not like this statement, but many of them can't speak English with any facility and I'm not referring to the Latinos or Asians. I will only use this one if I have no alternative. The CVS that I normally use in PA are smart, efficient and helpful--everything that these folks are not. read more

DON'T USE THIS PHARMACY! My wife and I are going out of town for a while. She has a new prescription that will need to be refilled while we are away so we used this neighborhood CVS instead of our regular pharmacy. The medication required additional approval through our insurance company. When the CVS called my wife to explain, they not only could not provide their own phone number, they actually got the prescribing doctor's name and phone number wrong! Can you imagine, they apparently copied the name and number from a different prescription? How much more unreliable, unprofessional and just plain dumb can a pharmacy be? read more

God do I love CVS. We have these stores on every corner back in Connecticut. Unfortunately this is the only CVS near my job, and its 7 blocks away. I happened to be in the area and stopped in to check out their makeup aisle. Although a little cramped, they had alot of brands on the shelf. I picked up three HIP dual shadows for $5 each with your CVS card!!! There are also tons of cashiers to get you in and out during the lunch hour. CVS seems to have alot more sales going on than Duane Reade and I like their rewards program alot better. Bonus: this location is open 24 hours. read more

I can easily spend my entire paycheck in this store. I am a typical chick and love many different tubes of mascara, sticks of eyeliner, bottles of nail polish in every color under the sun. while I do not need any of it, I still love it. Besides the plethora of cosmetic awesomeness, their pharmacy is pretty on point. The lines are rather long and the dude next to the self checkout (kind of looks a bit like a teenage mutant ninja turtle) is fantastically annoying, but still worth the trip.
