Met a former colleague for lunch and it was great! Service was excellent, food was hot and tasty and the place is fun! Love the mural on the wall. The smack yo mama sandwich with sweet potato fries and tomato soup was great on a rainy day. I loved the food and the atmosphere. I want to come back and try more sandwiches! Seems like a great place to hang out.

Great lunch. We had the Cheesey Capresey w tomato spup and the Che-bowski w chicken noodle soup. Both were delicious. Fast service, food was served hot, and clean restaurant. They have some weird wall decor, pretty lame. I didnt care for the silverware sitting out in the open on the table, who knows if others touch it or sneeze on it? Ewe? That's so unappealing. Is it that hard for the servers to bring it to the table w your food? Definately need to change that.

Still great food and service. Their brunch is delicious in addition to the grilled cheese sandwiches. Always loud even when not crowded, but a good atmosphere.

Mac Attack with Tator Tots and a Coca-Cola.

My coworkers had tried this place and gave it positive reviews. I figured why not. This place has a nice setup with artwork on the walls, good amount of seating. The bar is at the center of the main area. There is a shared parking lot that is kind of tricky to get into, if you take the first turn it brings you to the dumpster and unloading area. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Mac Attack witb bacon and tator tots. My thought was that this was a bowl of mac-n-cheese, with crumbled bacon. It was actually a grilled cheese sandwich filled with mac-n-cheese. Cool concept and it was pretty good. I actually ate it with a fork and knife. It could get messy trying to eat it like a traditional sandwich. Cash/Credit/Debit are accepted here.

Smack Yo Mama with House Chips

Ordered the Smack Yo Mama with house chips, tomato soup & an iced tea for dinner via delivery option on Yelp. The menu options were fairly extensive with lots of tasty options to choose from but who wouldn't want to order a grilled cheese with pulled bbq chicken named "SMACK YO MAMA"?!? The meal was great! Very meaty, very filling, very tasty. The house chips worked well to scoop and dip in the soup (my biggest complaint was the soup not being as hot as I would've liked). I really appreciated that the meal came exactly how I ordered, with the sweetener for my tea, utensils, etc. Thank you!

We stopped in to eat before heading to the airport. Fast service at the bar. The food was awesome!! Very nostalgic with the grilled cheeses and tomato soup. Got the one with the fried egg and bacon and it was delicious.

Pierogi

Came here for lunch while on my trip to Pennsylvania. It was a Sunday afternoon for lunch. There were quite a few people there to watch the steelers game which made for a nice atmosphere. The big thing here is the unique types of grilled cheese sandwiches. We had the pretzels and pierogis. The pretzels were very good. Unfortunately I couldn't try the pierogi because they came out with a spring mix garnish that I'm allergic to. I was told they were good though. I got the big che bowski with tots and tomato soup. The sandwich was good but I had hoped the egg was cooked over easy but it was hard fried so no yoke. I didn't like the tomato soup. Overall I enjoyed the meal and wish I could go back to try other things.

Such a great place for brunch! I had the Belgium waffle and it was delicious! I've been to the yard for dinner as well as lunch but honestly brunch is my favorite. You can't beat the price! I also enjoy the atmosphere at the Shadyside location.

Straight up, there should be a book called "How to Run a Successful Operation in Pittsburgh" and…read morethere should be a picture of this place on the cover, along with a case study. Always packed, always impressive array of beer (one of the best breweries in region, IMO), and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The site is so vast, there's never a shortage of seating, you just need to do a little bit of exploration to find a spot, but there's fun in that. Still trying to get to the upper command level - might need to head there during non-peak hours. Oh, I forgot to mention that each day/week there are a handful of beers and drinks that are super reasonably discounted - incredibly appreciated in the economic hellscape that is 2025.

Once we figured out how it works, it was good…read more There is no table service. You order your own drinks at the bar (you can start a tab) & get your own drinks. Water is also self serve and there was no ice or lemon option. Service at the bar and snack area was very friendly. I love all their sour beers I've tried and don't like traditional beers, so their sour beer selection was a big plus for me. The rest of their beer selection made everyone else happy. Food is ordered from an app with the QR code or you can go to the snack bar area and order form a human there. They text when food is ready and you pick it up. It took less time than the estimate said, but there were very few people there. The biggest down side with the food is there is no way for you to tell them what goes with what. They assumed the hot dogs were die one person a. Awhile they had extra trays, the bun on my hot dog was soaked from stuff off my dad's. Not pleasant. He offered to remake it, but I didn't want to waste food. It tasted okay, it was just an icky texture. The hot dog tasted good other than that. The burgers were juicy and the fries weee crispy. The chili dipping had a great flavor, but was really runny. Should be thicker for dipping. The beer cheese dip was very good and the ranch was okay. It was a bit loud even when mostly empty, but a cool vibe with comfy seats and beautiful tables.

Helicon Brewing is brewery #234 for me. Helicon is in a big industrial building with a large…read morededicated parking lot, which is always nice. It's not much to look at on the outside. Inside the taproom is big! They have a pretty cool bar area that is kind of S-shaped. The area behind the bar area has individual tables and a whole bunch of pinball machines and video games. No, pinball machines are not video games. No food onsite but they did have a food truck that pulled in after I arrived. The place was starting to fill up pretty good, which isn't surprising on a Friday night. No flights here but they do have 5 ounce samplers so I built my own. Hey, I make shit happen in the face of beer adversity! The Vienna lager had a nice toasty aroma and flavor. Nice traditional beer which I approve of. The Schwarzbier lager is dark in color of course with a bitter chocolate flavor at the end. Nicely dry. The American IPL is described on the menu as having notes of "smooth peach". It's definitely there in both the aroma and flavor. Nice beer! I decided to add on the American IPA before moving on. This one has a bit more hip flavor and bitterness than the IPL did but not overpoweringly so. Moon Breaker DIPA was up next. Why is this the only named beer? Is it that special? This was a good DIPA. I could drink a few of these really easily. It was a good beer but I'm still wondering why it alone earned a name. The oatmeal stout was pretty decent. I'm a bit jaded by nostalgia on oatmeal stouts though. You know what they say about you never forget your first and always use that as a comparison? Yes, it applies to beers too. That said, this was eminently drinkable. Honestly all of the beers I had were well done. Just solid, well executed beers with no fluff. I appreciate that and the brewer here knows his/her/their/theiyr're business. (Yeah, that last one was to piss off the grammar and gender nazis.) It's always slightly tart and refreshing. It's perfect for the summertime, but I drink it all year round! The rotating food trucks are a much appreciated addition, as the brewery doesn't serve their own food. When the weather is cooperating, they seasonally have bands later in the week. The website is always up to date with events! The bartenders are very friendly and do their best to work through the lines as quickly as possible. They do have bathrooms and they're definitely outdated, but clean.
