The ginger carrot mash was seasoned and puréed enough that it didn't taste like eating just carrots. They cooked the salmon too perfectly to my liking. If noise is your thing, if yelling to be heard excites you, if inedible, burned food sounds enticing then by all means, run, don't walk to the Urban Tap. I wanted to place a carryout order. I first tried online but there was a glitch somewhere in the system. I called instead. When the phone was answered, the background noise was intense. It was so loud that the employee couldn't hear me. At that point I decided to just go in and order. When I walked into Urban Tap, the noise was almost deafening. Music blaring, voices raised to be heard. No one was using their "inside voices", they couldn't. I sat at the bar to order. I never got waited on. I finally caught the attention of one of the bartenders and was ready to place an order. We leaned towards each other, yelling to try to be heard. I couldn't hear her when she read back my order. I really wasn't sure what I'd be getting. Unfortunately, I did get what I ordered - brunch breads and an order of biscuits. It took quite a while to get food - no surprise there. I checked our food when I got it. Oh Lordy, those biscuits looked good. This southern girl appreciates a good biscuit and did these look good. I got the food to the car and we headed out on the next leg of our adventure. About an hour later, I just had to grab one of those golden, flaky discs. Butter? Jam? Nah, the biscuits looked like they could solo on their own. I took one bite and my eyes flew open - not from the deliciousness, it was because of the sheer amount of salt. That can't be right so I took another small bite. I tried a teeny bite of the next biscuit. Salt. The biscuits were inedible. No, I don't mean that I didn't like the flavor. They contained so much salt that there was no way someone could eat these. That's ok, there was the banana bread French toast. It looked a little dark in color but it never crossed my mind that this might not be normal. I took a bite. It tasted odd, off, something wasn't right. My husband pegged it - it was burned. Before grilling or after? No idea. There were also a couple of donut holes. Not even worthy of a second bite. I also ordered fruit. The description of the avocado and eggs dish was not properly explained on the menu. They simply slice led the avocado in half (with the skin still on) and put eggs on top of them. If I would have known I would have ordered something else. I sent that back and got the Cajun shrimp Benedict. That was ok, but they added fried eggs instead of poached eggs that I did not ask for. Both times were with slightly larger groups in the evening; we also had people arrive at different times, and the servers accommodated this with grace. The food and drinks are consistently so good!! A group of 5 of us had brunch reservations one recent Sunday during "Summerween". The Urban Tap really embraced the pseudo holiday with tons of decorations, lighting, and special menu items. Our server was very friendly and prompt with service, despite it being very busy. Our food and drinks came out quickly and everything was fresh and delicious. A friend ordered the banana bread French toast and said that it was good, but so dense and sweet. The plate was basically several thick slices of chocolate chip banana bread turned into French toast. I'd recommend getting it for a shared dessert for the table. The injectable donut holes were a fun app that was enjoyed by the whole group. I met my cousins for brunch here during their Christmas in July weekend. In addition to their regular brunch menu, they had a special Christmas menu as well. The cocktail and food item (eggs Benedict) that I ordered was not particularly Christmas themed but the food and drinks were good! The portions are generous as well. We stopped by on Friday 12/27 around 8pm. There was a good amount of people there for a random Friday between two major holidays but we were able to get a table for five right away. We wanted to try the holiday cocktails that were part of the Southside Tinsel Tour but there was some confusion. We were told they didn't have them anymore and so we ordered off the regular menu. A few minutes later we were told they did still have the holiday menu so we happily ordered cocktails off of that. The drinks were very charming and festive with cute little ornaments. They tasted pretty good for what they were and we were happy that we were able to order them after all. We got our drinks and a side of tots and after that no one ever came back to check on us. After a being there about an hour and a half, I got up to look for our server but couldn't find her. I asked someone at the bar about getting our checks and he closed us out immediately and came over to get our cards. Went for the Summerween themed brunch bc the past few themed brunches were 10/10. Giving 4 stars only because it was 85 degrees & humid outside & they didn't seem to have tar AC on. Our waiter was super nice and gets a multitude of kudos for setting my purse aside when I forgot it. We're from WI, so we take cheese curds pretty seriously. Their's had no egg- a perk for avoiding hub's allergy list. The batter was light and wonderfully salty with a squeeze of lemon that helped balance it. The marinara was also delicious.
