Great lunch. We had the Cheesey Capresey w tomato spup and the Che-bowski w chicken noodle soup. Both were delicious. Fast service, food was served hot, and clean restaurant. They have some weird wall decor, pretty lame. I didnt care for the silverware sitting out in the open on the table, who knows if others touch it or sneeze on it? Ewe? That's so unappealing. Got the worst food poisoning of my life at this restaurant. I'm talking 5 full days of not being able to keep anything down (and worse, I'll spare you the details). We stopped by The Yard for dinner while staying at a nearby hotel. Honestly we confused it for a Yard House restaurant, but had a good visit. Service was prompt and friendly. A good selection of drafts and cocktails with daily specials and happy hours. The menu had a variety of items from flatbreads to sandwiches. The bulk of the menu focused on gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. My wife ordered the caprese grilled cheese and really enjoyed it! My coworkers had tried this place and gave it positive reviews. I figured why not. This place has a nice setup with artwork on the walls, good amount of seating. The bar is at the center of the main area. There is a shared parking lot that is kind of tricky to get into, if you take the first turn it brings you to the dumpster and unloading area. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Mac Attack witb bacon and tator tots. My thought was that this was a bowl of mac-n-cheese, with crumbled bacon. The menu options were fairly extensive with lots of tasty options to choose from but who wouldn't want to order a grilled cheese with pulled bbq chicken named "SMACK YO MAMA"?!? The meal was great! Very meaty, very filling, very tasty. The house chips worked well to scoop and dip in the soup (my biggest complaint was the soup not being as hot as I would've liked). Service and staff: 10- the servers and staff were extremely accommodating, patient, and polite. Food: 2: I was enjoying my flat bread pizza, until I noticed there was hair embedded in the cheese. That was the end for me. The waitress did apologize and comp me however, I wish it never happened the pizza was good. Environment: 2- The place is filthy. I noticed that the moment I walked in. I have heard many good things about The Yard, but haven't had the opportunity to experience it until this week. It is a typical chain pub, with a rather unique twist on the standard bar menu. They specialize is the widest variety of grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever seen. A buddy in my party chose one of those; my wife got the Smash Burger and me being me, I got wings (mild Buffalo with blue cheese) The food was GREAT!! In fact, I would highly recommend the wings. They were literally perfect. We drank a few drinks, enjoyed our meals and had excellent service. In fact we really enjoyed ourselves until the very end, when we decided to use the restroom before going home. I cannot express enough the deplorable condition the men's room was in. I have used cleaner facilities in the worst roadside pee stop one can think imagine. And it wasn't that the restroom was just filthy. I can understand a bad day or circumstance. It happens right? No, half of the facilities IN the bathroom didn't work. Toilet didn't flush at all and one of the sinks didn't work. To top that off only one hand dryer worked. This isn't the result of a bad day or someone forgot to clean the bathroom. That kind of disgrace is the result of systemic neglect. If they're neglecting that aspect of public hygiene, one has to wonder what's happening in that kitchen where we don't get to see?? I'm writing this review as a chance for you to improve. The front end of your business is good. But I'm telling you a health inspector seeing what I saw would not be as kind. Get better!!! Came here for lunch while on my trip to Pennsylvania. It was a Sunday afternoon for lunch. There were quite a few people there to watch the steelers game which made for a nice atmosphere. The big thing here is the unique types of grilled cheese sandwiches. We had the pretzels and pierogis. The pretzels were very good. Unfortunately I couldn't try the pierogi because they came out with a spring mix garnish that I'm allergic to. I was told they were good though. I got the big che bowski with tots and tomato soup. The sandwich was good but I had hoped the egg was cooked over easy but it was hard fried so no yoke. I didn't like the tomato soup. Came here for dinner last night with my friends and had a great time! The atmosphere was nice and our waitress was great. She was so nice and got us everything quickly and checked in often, even though they were pretty busy that night. I visited the location at The Galleria. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was more empty than full. We went as a work group. They consider themselves a grilled cheese restaurant, but I wouldn't really consider that to be accurate. They have a pretty big menu and the prices are fair. I ended up ordering a sandwich with chicken, bacon and cheese. I chose tots as my side. I forgot and was pleasantly surprised to see that I also received a cup of tomato soup. The soup was very good. I was in town for business and there were so many restaurants around the hotel (airport area) that it was almost hard to choose what restaurant to visit. I try not to dine at chains if I can, and this place sounded good after checking out the menu online. Vast dining area in a strip plaza that seats many and can also be a great place to catch any sporting event with the large bar and tons of televisions. We were seated in a quieter area of the restaurant and dove into the menu. The items are very uniquely named and it was fun to read the explanations of the the food offered. I went with "YO MTV wraps" and I felt exponentially old when I realized the waitress probably wasn't even born when that show was on tv! This place makes its own potato chips and they were amazing. The servers were very attentive, responsive, and helpful. If I lived in this area, I would definitely consider this place as a sports bar to go to a lot vs a Buffalo Wild Wings. I've stayed in the area near this restaurant about 10 times, but never came in due to the mixed reviews... But recently decided to give it a try and it was EXCELLENT! Atmosphere - industrial chic. The restaurant is located near the Robinson Mall. The area facing the large parking lot is completely open. There is tons of seating and the place is very noisy. Service - uneven. I would likely give the restaurant 4 stars had service been better. The staff is not particularly friendly. Nor are they overly attentive. In fact, despite the restaurant being packed (it was 7pm on a Saturday night), four of the staff members spent nearly 30 minutes standing around and talking to each at the check in area other while occupied tables with dirty dishes went unattended. Our server was initially attentive and then disappeared after our food was delivered. In the end, a meal that should have lasted 45 minutes or so, took nearly 90 minutes. From seating to a paid bill. If there was a manager in attendance there was no sign of her/him. Food - Decent. The restaurant specializes in grilled chess and there are plenty of interesting variations on the sandwich. However, there are many other sandwich and entree options from which to select. I ordered the Cheesey Capresey grilled cheese and it was very good. A cup of tomato soup is included with the sandwich, which is just OK. I split a side of tots with a friend and they were good. Overall Value - Average. The sandwich was $14.50. They were more than willing to accommodate a group of about 20 people at the last minute. We were in town for a baseball tournament and wanted a place that had a good variety of food for a crowd... we definitely got that! The pierogi appetizer was so good that we ended Up getting two additional orders because everyone loved them. The sweetest potato fries with their cinnamon/brown sugar butter - HOLY SMOKES. You have to get them!! Some people ordered their gourmet grilled cheeses - including the "my diet starts on Monday"... he lives it. Several people got steak salads and they really enjoyed them. A little over two years later, I feel the need to update my review. Both the quality and service has gone down since my first visit to this location in November of 2018. The food. I don't even know where to start. First of all, many menu items are over-priced. It was $10.99 for a wing appetizer, however, this only included 6 very small wings! I wish we were warned of this before ordering because paying almost $2 per wing is absolutely ridiculous unless they are the full size wings. Secondly, there are so many upcharges on the menu! I understand a few upcharges here and there for specialty items, but I felt like almost everything had an upcharge. For example, it's an upcharge to add anything to your salad or order any other side with your sandwich other than the chips/tomato soup it comes with. You pay more for coleslaw, salad, waffle fries, sweet potato fries, etc. They definitely need a few side options on the menu that aren't an additional cost (especially for those who don't like tomato soup). The service. I've been to The Yard twice recently, and was unfortunately given the same server both times. The first time we were there, we gave him the benefit of the doubt and figured he was having a bad day. However, I had him for Sunday brunch, and he was equally unkind, inattentive, and unwelcoming. The second time was for my cousin's 21st, so we definitely wanted someone who was nice and could at least put a smile on his or her face! First time customer and we were looking for something outside and although they have only a few tables outside, with the garage doors open, it feels like outside. The atmosphere is vibrant and the music is VERY loud. The restaurant was mostly empty at 6 pm and we asked to be seated close to the open air, but they tried to seat us right behind the hostess stand, next to the trash can. Why? Our server arrived quickly and took our drink order. The menu is interesting, with a variety of apps, salads and sandwiches. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are the specialty. They offer at least a dozen different kinds with cute names. I wasn't very hungry and ordered the loaded quesadillas. Two in our party ordered the grilled cheese. Our food arrived quickly and everything was hot and presented well. My quesadilla was large and looked yummy. It was loaded with peppers, onions, cheese and had a spicy sauce drizzled on top, which I really enjoyed. Definitely a good choice and I would order it again. Everyone else liked their meal. Service declined over time, which didn't make sense because there were always 2 hostesses and 2-3 servers standing around the hostess stand chatting.
