What a great spot for lunch on a gorgeous November day! Our group of 13 was served well. The candied bacon was a treat and so good! I had the lunchbox special with pulled pork, Brussels sprouts, Mac & cheese, and cornbread. I give it all two thumbs up. Servers were attentive and did a great job with our group. Looking forward to going back!

Walter's is easily one of my favorite spots in Pittsburgh. The brisket queso fries are my go-to every single time, and they never miss. The vibe is always chill and welcoming, and I love that I can bring my puppy without any issues. It's a great weeknight hangout and a fun late-night spot on the weekends. The drinks are a bit pricey, but the quality and atmosphere make it worth it. If you're looking for good food, good energy, and great service. Highly recommend.

Amazing service. As a now Texan, the bbq is pretty decent for an east coast bbq, though I've had better in PA. The guys did forget to give us some sausage from our order, but the server was nice enough to help us out. Brisket queso fries were great. They use battered fries! The candied bacon was my favorite. The sides could've been better.

There aren't many vegetarian options here. I understand that Southern food isn't vegetarian friendly, but it would be nice to have the option to customize some of the meals with plant-based proteins. I had the bowl, that's displayed in the picture, and it wasn't very good. The rice to veggie ratio was not good and even the cilantro lime sauce didn't help with the flavor. I thankfully got a side of Mac and Cheese and that was the best part of the meal. The beer was pretty good though. The waiter was nice and super friendly though! The outside area is pretty nice even in the cold months as there are heaters to keep you warm. Not sure if I'd come back for the food, but maybe for a casual drink.

Back again with another Walter's review. My friend and I recently met up at Walter's for one of their Tuesday movie nights. The service was much better than the last time I visited. We found a seat outside. Food and drink ordering is still available via QR code, which makes it easy. They had a few food and drink specials for the movie night, so I ordered a soft pretzel (which came with their delicious queso) and a tequila cocktail. Our items came out quick. The movie night was okay. The volume was not up so it made it very hard to hear the movie. There were also people playing games right in front of us so it made it hard to see the movie. Besides that, the vibes are always great at Walter's.

First time here. We had the big salad with brisket and chopped brisket sandwich with mustard potato salad. Our waitress Jada was excellent and had no issues asking the kitchen a couple of allergy related questions. I thought the portions were great and the prices were fair! So many table games available and tomorrow is movie nite, they're playing Top Gun Maverick.

Walter's is the spot to go for their happy hour deals and patio vibes. I love how kid and dog friendly this place is. It can get a bit hectic during busy hours and the wait for food can be long. The happy hour tacos are only $2 each which is a steal! The pork belly and brisket tacos are fantastic. Come early if you want to claim a large outdoor table or else you may have to wait a while.

We went to Walter's for a dinner and they had a variety of options to choose from. The service was quick and not bad. The restaurant itself was warm and fairly large with plenty of TVs to watch. They even had an outside seating area for when the weather is warmer. The food came out hot and it was pretty good!

We loved it! Food, service, and the place is awesome!! We brought our dog and the lady brought him water right away. This is the right place to go with family or friends. We'll be back for more!

I rock with Walter's they're open pretty late to be on Butler Street. I love that they show sports on the TV and have nice music and yard games making this place great for gathering. It does however get really crowded making it hard to find somewhere to eat your food. I always go straight for the chicken sandwich with no bacon and their Mac and cheese. I was a bit confused when I bit into the cornbread once and it had jalepenos in it. It was a bit of a no Bueno for me. The service is okay but sometimes you can see the frustration of the employees on the busier days. Drinks are a bit affordable and when people ask me how to describe Walter's I say it's like a restaurant if most of it was outside.

    Tiffany T.

I'm so excited to have a good bbq spot on Butler plus they have outdoor seating which is chefs kiss. The potato salad was an interesting mustard color which made me hesitate because I'm not a mustard fan but it turned out to be my favorite side dish. I'm a sucker for whipped butter so theirs with the jalapeño corn bread is my guilty pleasure. I've gotten the lean brisket twice and the fatty brisket once and the fatty brisket had a bigger portion than the lean pieces. I'll have to go back and keep trying both to increase my sample size- for research purposes but also because I love this place.

Ribs, pork belly, cornbread, coleslaw, potato salad, collard greens.

I was in town for a bodybuilding show, and I always do my due diligence for food when traveling. I don't want mediocre food; I want incredible food. I've had a lot of ribs and pork belly in my 55 years, but I decided to make myself miserable on 3 things that I just didn't want to stop eating at Walter's because it was so damn good: 1. The ribs. They fell apart, and I stopped only when I couldn't eat anymore. They were divine. 2. The pork belly was the most moist and fatty pork belly I've ever had. It just couldn't have been any better. I doubt I will find pork belly this good without going back to Pittsburgh. 3. The cornbread with whipped honey butter. I was disappointed when I asked if they had a dessert menu and was told they had no desserts... until I had the cornbread. Absolutely insanely good. I called it quits after 1 pound of ribs, half pound of pork belly, 2 sides of candied bacon, 4.5 pieces of cornbread, side of collard greens, side of coleslaw, and a side of potato salad. Had I had pockets, I would have ordered more and taken it with me. If there is better BBQ in Pittsburgh, I would be shocked. Pictured is only my first order (minus the candied bacon because I ate that before realizing I needed to take a picture).

    Chicken and waffles.

It's a smash burger so if you're hungry, maybe get a double the onions that come with it are grilled, which was a nice surprise and the sauce they put on the burger was really good. The hotdog had a nice snap to it which I don't care either way, but I know some people are big on that the chili had no beans which is the only way to have it when it comes to a hotdog or french fries and it's made by the local restaurant up the street brothMonger. I'll definitely be back to try the onion rings because they looked delicious and served with ranch from a local spot.

He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).
