Open seating. Friendly staff. Good drinks. Great chicken Caesar salad. Heavy on the dressing. Great chicken tho. Wings were good. Would come again.

I recently went back to Fireside Public House for their Monday night wing special. I ordered a small salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) with balsamic dressing and 6 grilled wings (buffalo ranch) with ranch on the side. I'm such a fan of their wings, both grilled and fried. We sat on the patio, which is always a vibe. The service is also good and this is just a chill spot to dine at overall.

I like the look of the space. I enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The food was decent. I had two types of wings that were good. I also ordered the pretzel bites. The cheese wasn't the best. It wasn't smooth and was weird looking. I ordered fries that came out extremely late and weren't all the way cooked through so I sent them back. Our server while friendly was very forgetful. It took forever to just get our waters. As I mentioned my fries came out late because she forgot to put the order in. Also my friend ordered the Mexican corn which she also forgot to put in so it was a long wait. My friend ordered the Brussels sprouts and asked for the sauce on the side. They came out with the sauce on them. Overall all it was an ok experience the service just lacked somewhat.

This Illy Philly and her man were hungry, the power was out in Pittsburgh, and we needed a place to get some hot food so we decided to go to the Fireside Public House for what we thought would be a great experience. Not at all. When we walked in the restaurant had a few people so we thought great, and we waited for someone to seat us, but after about five minutes of watching the staff walk around, not acknowledge us, and not seat us we had to call out to them to ask if we could seat ourselves. We then sat at the bar and this is when the nightmare began... We sat for about 30 minutes before anyone asked us if they could help us. While we were seated we watched people come in, get seated almost immediately and get service....WE were still at the bar...with no service. Finally a waitress came and said she would be with us shortly and took our drink order. My guy ordered a beer and I ordered hot tea. After another 20 minutes he finally got his bear and I got a tea bag....yes, a tea bag and no water. After another 20 minutes she finally brought me the water, but we had to ask her twice just to get it. All in all we waited over an hour and a half to get our food and everyone that came in after us had their food within 15 to 20 minutes. We had to call over the waitress twice and the second time she had an attitude as we 'pleasantly' pointed out that tables that sat after us already received their food. She made excuses, with an attitude, and we still had to wait. Needless to say it was a horrific experience and my suggestion would be to have a conversation/training about good customer service and what that looks like. What was really crazy is after all of that, they didn't even comp our bill for the nightmare and she had an attitude when we asked about this and only took 10% off. Oh, I forgot she did offer my man a free beer. Smh.... If I could give a 0 rating I would.

Food was delicious, service was a little bit slower but it was a hidden gem for a good meal

I've been eating wings since 1978 while I was working at the original Quaker steak and lube in downtown Sharron PA. The wings I just had at this establishment were undoubtedly the best I've ever had. I have the fried buffalo Inferno I had to order some to go. You can get them char, grilled or fried you won't be disappointed.

One chicken, one steak, and one seafood taco

Taco Tuesday Happy Hour! These tacos ($12) are legit, and their happy hour is half off beers and regular cocktails. Also: bacon crab hushpuppies. Nuff said.

I placed an online lunch takeout order recently for a veggie burger with fries. Based on a special instruction I added to the order, the manager called to ask if I was vegan before they made the order since their bun and aioli have egg. Although I'm not, I was so appreciative of the effort they put in to make sure that the order fit my dietary needs! Also, the burger and fries were both cooked to perfection and so tasty. Highly recommend Butterjoint and their sister cafe, Sidecar!

We had a group of 17 people, and they easily were able to get us in! There's a parking garage across the street, so parking was not super difficult. Our group had mimosas and cocktails, which were delightful. Many of us ordered multiple dishes. For my meal, I ordered the quiche as well as the crumpets and jam. Both were tasty and delicious. My husband ordered the brown sugar pop tart, French onion soup, and their famous burger. He enjoyed every aspect of his meal. Our group also tried the pancakes as well as the crab benedict. Both of those dishes were so-so, and I wouldn't get them again! They have a little bakery/cafe on site where you can order pastries. They are also known for their vinegar pie, so of course, I had to try it! It was definitely a different flavor, and I am glad that I tried it. It tasted like a less sweet version of a pecan pie. The vinegar really helped to cut the sweetness. This restaurant was accommodating and the service was great. Their food was good but the company was even better. I will definitely be back!

There is a hard start time as the tasting menu is done in a large group setting-serving everyone at once. So, we found ourselves wandering around the neighborhood and then standing in front of the door waiting for 6pm to strike, I felt like a creep. The area itself is an open floor plan so when they welcome you in, it's confusing to see the table we will be seated around but also see little stations for the canapés. Little awkward. We found a two-seater, and as a plus size woman I felt a bit cramped. My husband and I are both tall (5'11" and 6'3" so we were both fighting over who got the bench seat vs the little stool. There's always that awkwardness when you're looking around trying to figure out what the heck is about to happen and wondering..when is it time to EAT. We did 3 or 4 canapés which were all enjoyable-one that stands out to me had goat cheese and beets-yum! We are asked to take our seats at the large table and ...awkward again bc we are just kind of all looking around waiting. I have a sensitivity to alcohol so I did the N.A. pairing and I didn't feel like I missed out on much. The sommelier did a great job at explaining the notes and why each pairing happened. I really enjoyed the tasting menu. The chef kept us abreast of what we were trying and looped in other accompanying staff which gave us some of their backstory which was nice. I love that the restaurant has an urban garden and tries to reduce waste-that's so important. Minus 1 star because of the clunkiness of the bench area vs the large table where we ate and the cost. $275/pp plus tip isn't something that many can swing in a blue collar city.

That means I haven't actually eaten inside Roots itself; maybe one day I won't be picking up my meal on the go? But until then, I can't comment on what a sit-down experience here is like. If the name didn't give it away, this is an eatery focused on "natural foods", AKA whole foods. So if you want a salad or a bowl, this is a good place to get one. They have a limited number of "set" menu items, and they let you make custom creations, too. This is where I reveal how lame I am, because I found my favorite order back in 2023 and I've never changed it up! If you see me here I'm probably ordering a Mayweather salad, which includes kale, bulgur, sweet potatoes, beets, red onions, goat cheese, and chicken. One day I might shake things up and try their cobb salad...but until then, I'll let the Mayweather continue to delight my tastebuds. Disclaimer that Roots is not the cheapest eatery on the block, but for me, it's my weekly treat. I could never make a salad as tasty as theirs, and a good (i.e. healthy and yummy) meal makes my in-office day a little better! I can't wait to pick up my regular order again later this week (although I might steal another reviewer's idea and get the BBQ tofu instead of chicken...it sounds good AND it would make me a slightly less boring regular!).
