This was this past Sunday at about 3pm. Went in and were seated immediately. We were shown to a back corner table by the bar. No one came to greet us for maybe five minutes, and I started to get nervous because there were only about five other occupied tables in the restaurant and I figured that servers would be pretty prompt. The person that served us turned out to be the bartender as the bar was right next to our table. This person did not offer us water, ask have you been here before, or any of the other pleasantries that all the other wait staff was telling to the other tables that we could hear. The other wait staff was telling people about the breakfast and their specials and the biscuits and everything and we got nothing. I don't know why we weren't seated somewhere with a server who didn't have to also deal with the bar, but our service was extremely slow and I am sure that is why. I ordered the lemonade and it was really delicious except that I would've liked to have had a water to drink as well. My husband ordered an iced coffee which he said was good but it was in a very tiny brandy type glass that could not have been more than 6 ounces. At five dollars for each of our drinks I would think that it could be maybe a little bigger. The person helping us never came back to talk about refills or having another drink or water or anything. We ordered the biscuits and I ordered a breakfast meal and my husband ordered the half of a chicken. I wanted my eggs over easy and they were almost hard. They were definitely not over easy; they were overcooked. Everything else was acceptable but not delicious. My husband's chicken was very juicy. He didn't get his salad until a few minutes after our entrées were delivered though. A different server brought the salad over to us and she said "ha ha found it" trying to make a joke, but it was like yeah we get it. You guys aren't very good at running food out. When it was time to pay, it took us asking for the bill to get it and then at least five minutes for it to be picked back up when we would've liked to have been on our way. The food was ordinary and the service was pretty bad. We won't be back again. I really enjoyed my visit to Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar. The atmosphere was a standout, super cool vibe with lots of plants and an open concept that made the space feel bright and inviting. It's the kind of place you can relax and actually enjoy your time. The food overall was good. The chicken had great flavor, though it was a little on the tougher side than expected. That said, the sweet tea absolutely made up for it, easily one of the best parts of the meal. Pricing felt fair for the quality and experience, which is always a plus. This is currently one of my favorite brunch spots, for two reasons: the food and drinks are delicious, and it's easy to coordinate a family/group outing here. More about the food: Tupelo Honey serves "Southern comfort food with a creative twist" (their words). This is not the place to go if you're looking for lite bites. This IS the place to go if you're looking for a hearty and mouthwatering meal. I've been here a few times and have sampled the fried green tomatoes, the garden harvest omelet, the chicken and waffles, and one sandwich (no longer available) that was clearly inspired by the Po Boy but was not a classic Po Boy (since it didn't include shrimp). It's all tasted phenomenal! Drink-wise, you won't be left wanting - Tupelo serves cocktails (some "standing" and some seasonal), mocktails, wine, beer, and a handful of coffee options. They're all absolutely delicious. I will say, the last time I dined here, I opted to go all in on the coffee. I started with an iced mocha, then had their 'not another espresso martini' with my meal. The mocha was one of the best I've ever had, full stop. Tupelo makes theirs with dark chocolate and oat milk, and as long as it's on their menu, I plan to order it again and again! Speaking of: I mentioned that it's easy to coordinate an outing here. Tupelo lets you make reservations directly through their website for parties of various sizes. I've dined here with a smaller group (immediate family) as well as with a larger group (a Meetup-style organization). Each time, Tupelo had a table waiting for us and we were welcomed by some of the nicest staff I've ever interacted with in a restaurant. I always tip well, partly because they've always been super attentive, but also because their humor and smiles put me in a better mood. This is definitely a team that's good at their jobs! This place is an easy 5 out of 5 for me. I wanted to attend the Steelers v. Cleveland Browns game so we drove all the way from Charlotte, NC to attend our first Steelers game!!! We were starving and wanted something good and close by the stadium and stopped by this spot! We were able to make a reservation within minutes and once we arrived, were able to be seated within minutes. It was beautiful, all the black and yellow waiting for food and enjoying conversations. Our waitress Emma was so sweet and ensured that we had everything we needed! First time I've been to a Tupelo and ironically we left the south to have it on vacation! Aside of the sign at the door lying to use the wrong door to get in, it was a good experience! Place was clean and aesthetically pleasing with a nicely lit bar, service was friendly and mostly fast; fast enough we were able to catch our boat ride in time. Prices were expensive, but the refills were free for the lemonade. Food was overall excellent. Maybe service would've been better if I were a local, but "R" seemed to treat our table different from everyone else. He would often look away when he gave us something, wasn't so busy but oh well. Other servers seemed nicer, so maybe unlucky dice roll. Food was mixed. I liked the sides, but the main chicken was pretty lacking in their bee/honey seasoning, like maybe 1 tender out of all the chicken had the seasoning. Chicken was brined which probably saved it from being completely dry but it still wasn't particularly good. Too dry by how they cook it. Pretty burnt. We had 2 little kids with us and they ordered from the kids menu- chicken tenders with fries ( not your average chicken tenders- it's the same batter as their fried chicken-- really good!) and buttered pasta with Parmesan. Good price points for kids menu. The chicken was crisp and moist and so flavorful. Batter to meat ratio was good, mac and cheese was cheesy, shrimp and grits was 100/10. Sweet tea. Matcha lemonade was good, peach lemonade was too tart but doable when watered / iced down. Restrooms are clean and spacious, interior is clean and pretty, outdoor and indoor seating. When I knew I was heading back to my old stomping grounds of Pittsburgh, I put out a request from my friends that still live there on what was new, at least to me, and delicious. What kept coming up was this place. Just so happened that we were staying in Station Square and guaranteed me a visit. It has been about two years since I moved out of the area and I am happy to see that there is some revitalization in the area. Not as vibrant as it once was, but there is movement in the right direction. Tupelo takes up a good size chunk of space near the Smithfield Street Bridge, directly across from the Grand Concourse. They really made this space feel very welcoming. It's bright, vibrant, with a warm homey dining room feel. We came here on a Sunday evening, not very busy at all, which guaranteed us quick access to a table with menus in hand. Our server was outstanding. He delivered throughout our whole experience here. I'll touch on that throughout the rest of this review. I peeked at the menu before showing up so I had somewhat of an idea of what I might want. But it didn't hurt to look over the menu again when we showed up. Even though I had that peek I still wanted to get our server's opinion. He was very honest with what was on the menu and after we had asked about our entree we asked about the appetizers as well. With his input, our decision was solidified. But first, let's talk about the sweet tea. It was refreshing and free flowing. I absolutely loved the glasses the drinks were served in and kept commenting on them the whole time. I know they had some for purchase at the front, but they one I wanted, "Bless Your Heart" wasn't available. However, our server made sure we left with one at the end of the meal. See, he really was outstanding. Onto the food, for starters I went with the Fried Pickles. I'm always a fan of fried pickles and will give them a try anytime I see them on a menu. Their take on them are of the chip variety. They come served with a garlic buttermilk ranch, basically a spicy ranch that mixes well with the tang of the pickles. My friend and I shared these while waiting for our food to show up. We ended up getting the same thing with different variations on the sides. We went with Bourbon Peppercorn Glazed Meatloaf. For my sides I went with mac and cheese and rosemary and Parmesan crispy potatoes. You can tell that the meatloaf in scratch-made as the menu describes. It's a mixture of beef and chorizo and that glaze, bourbon and peppercorn, was just what this needed. It was so moist and if done right, each bite could be smothered in that glaze and then you might even have some leftover to scrape up with your sides. The mac and cheese, amazing, I sat there scraping the bottom in hopes that more may materialize. Then the potatoes were another amazing side. Nice and crisp, the Parmesan gives it just the right amount of salty and crunch. Such a satisfying meal and one I hope to enjoy again on any trip back to the Burgh. There is one thing that I wish I would have done while here. That was to order their Biscuits for a Cause. Just a simple order of two biscuits with blueberry jam and whipped butter. I just didn't have room for more food, and I didn't want to take them back to my room and forget about them and they go to waste. When you order this the proceeds go towards a fund they have in place. Usually it goes towards employees in need, but I believe that when I visited the proceeds were going to hurricane relief. Please, if you live in the area, or plan to visit, you must dine here. It will be worth any hassle you feel you took to get here. You will be happy you did. read more

I indulged in the same crispy Brussels sprout, fried pickles (with a bomb dipping sauce) and the cast iron pimento cheese queso appetizers, also for around $6 each. Truly mind blowing prices, for complete deliciousness. So depending on the chef, make sure to ask for the "dusting" on the chips that come with the queso, you won't regret it. Besides the yummy apps, we enjoyed a few of their happy hour drinks that also did not disappoint. The purple people eater was my jam, which I did enjoy on both visits! Finally tried this place out after wanting to since it came to station square! Started out with the biscuits which were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the blueberry jam. The fried chicken was solid and the dust on top added a nice flavor. For the side I got Brussels sprouts which were way too salty for my taste. Some with less were good, but I would get a different side dish if I return. Not pictured was the banana pudding which was pretty good. Service was good and food came out fairly quickly! Very good food! I went on a Tuesday night, super easy to get a table. Parking surrounding this area is going to be paid. Even the street parking is paid 24/7. My first drink was the peach cocktail, it was very refreshing and delicious. Just the right amount of alcohol. I had the Debutante cocktail after and I enjoyed it as well. I was visiting Pittsburgh from California and was looking for a small pre-baseball game snack to hold me over until I could dive into ballpark food. I always make it a point to try brussel sprouts if it's on a menu, and was lucky that this happened to be a Happy Hour item. Every single bite was crispy. The red pepper sauce was a unique alternative to the typical balsamic/honey glaze I always see on other menus. I liked that the sauce was underneath the Brussels sprouts, instead of being drizzled on top so that it could maintain the crispness. Order the biscuits! Even if you're stuffed, make room for the biscuits. Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Shoutout Derek who served me at the bar area. Loved the beer recommendation and small conversation. We arrived first thing on a Sunday ready to have some brunch. The facility was very clean and bright, nice pink windows to let a lot of light in, and the staff were very courteous and positive. Walking in so early we felt welcome and invited. We had three different meals , classic fried chicken and waffles, Sriracha fried chicken waffles,, shrimp and grits. Overall have to say the quality of the food was quite good. Portions are definitely small, especially for the price, but the freshness and the flavor is very good. I don't mind the portions being smaller, as I don't often have the ability to finish large meals late in the morning. However they were just slightly smaller they were quite small. And for the very high price it was a slightly negative experience for me. Both Chicken and waffles were cooked and seasoned well. I definitely recommend the sriracha chicken waffles vesriin with extra sauce, if you're feeling spicy. I really wanted to give this place 4 stars for the food quality (except the brew coffee) because it really was tasty, but the price/value is just so horrible I had to stick at 3 stars. For example, paying $4 a single cup of sysco bulk (at least it tasted like it) brewed coffee just ... well, let's say adds to the negative part of my experience. Tupelo honey blew me away. I was not expecting such a perfect meal at all. My friend and I were looking for brunch places and I had Tupelo honey on my bucket list for a while because the menu looked interesting. I usually like trying places with menu items I haven't seen anywhere else, but Tupelo took it above and beyond. The food was amazing. The menu had all brunch items one could crave for. This place is too underrated. Literally every other brunch place couldn't take walk ins that day, but there was no wait at all here. Hidden gem! Found this place after doing the incline and man was it a great spur of the moment stop! The staff was super friendly and the place was so cute. We loved the decor and how open it was. The food was really good! The sweet potato pancake was yummy and my husband almost wanted a second one. The surf and turf was also good and my daughter enjoyed every bite. Tried the peach pineapple sangria and boy did it surprise us! It was light and you can really taste the peach and pineapple. We had a reservation, but didn't need one. Just wanted to cover my butt for an event we were going to that night. Our server was very nice, no complaints there. I thought the food was terrible, to be honest. It was edible and had things about it that i liked, but overall not worth the money. $120 for 4 people. We tried multiple different chicken and waffle combinations, all of which had super dry waffles. Chicken was fine, some sauces better than others. The brussel sprouts were burned. I know charred and this was way over that. Everything else we had was mediocre at best: smash burger, fried pickles, sweet and spicy chicken sandwich. There was an error on the bill but I didn't bother to correct it and took it off waitress's tip because that wouldve meant more waiting and parking fees.
