Troublemaker (with cold foam) Honey Buns (with cold foam) And listen... everything was amazing but if I had to pick (which I don't want to, but if I had to...) #1 Happy Go Lucky #2 Cereal Thriller (If you want to be a big back like me,try them both together. Thank me later! ) What really made the experience even better than just having great waffles, was the people. General Manager Sharon and Assistant Manager Kelsey were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed excited to help. The owner Len was EXTREMELY responsive to my email & text inquiries (which honestly is rare these days.) As a small business owner myself, I notice and appreciate that kind of effort immediately!! This place is absolutely underrated. Between the amazing staff, the aesthetic Instagram/TikTok worthy storefront, and food & drinks that are ACTUALLY delicious (because sometimes places only nail one or the other ), they've got the full package! Plenty of seating inside & out. clean bathrooms, self-service kiosks but they also have a register if you are lazy like me. Parking can be a little challenging, but there are several nearby garages that make it manageable. 10/10 experience. So grateful we got the chance to try smashed waffles. A small group of us went to Smashed Waffles in Oakland last Sunday, and we LOVED it. While there aren't many places to sit and eat onsite, it's the perfect food to get to-go. I ordered a coffee, a savory waffle, and a sweet waffle, and everything was delicious. I especially loved the glaze on the cereal killer waffle and the "secret sauce" served with their savory waffles. The cinnamon roll coffee I ordered was also fantastic and a very smooth and sweet drink. Everything was fantastic, and the owner was extremely kind and welcoming. We went on Sunday which was national waffle day!! They have a variety of both sweet and savory waffle options plus coffee! We split a couple of the savory sandwiches which were excellent and if you're a lemon fan then I recommend the John Lemon sweet waffle. The star shaped smashed browns were adorable and I like how everything's pretty affordable. You go inside and order at a tablet or at the register. The inside is fairly small with just a handful of seats and there were three small tables outside as well. Once your order is ready they'll call your name or bring your food to you if you tell them you're sitting outside! read more

The waffles are small in size and come in several flavors such as bacon/egg/cheddar, chicken/honey, honey/cinnamon, chocolate chips, and many others. The menu also includes hash browns, coffees, lattes, sodas, juices, milks, etcetera. So far, I have been a customer at the location in Pittsburgh a couple of times. I used a kiosk to order several waffles, one hash brown, bottled water, and a latte. All employees promptly and courteously served me, and I appreciated the several tables and chars for dining in. The O.G. waffle was topped with honey and cinnamon-cream sauce (5 stars). The Cereal Thriller waffle was topped with Fruity Pebbles and vanilla-cream sauce (4 stars). The Pitt Waffle had blue and yellow sprinkles (4.5 stars). I also ate the John Lemon waffle (4.5 stars), the seasonal Lemon-Blueberry Waffle (4.5 stars), and the Smashed Browns hash browns (4.5 stars). Delicious and quick, the perfect breakfast! I really enjoyed everything about The Smashed Waffle Company. We got coffees, breakfast sandwiches, and a few different waffles to try. I love a sweet and savory option for my meal and the iced coffee was a cherry on top. Everything we got was absolutely delicious! We ordered the John Lemon, Swirly Sin, and Cereal Thriller for our sweet waffles and the Chatty Patty for our sandwiches. Really cute space with the vibrant yellow all over and very modern. Very kind staff and they were super quick! We came on Monday morning and it was fairly busy but we didn't wait long. It's a smaller space but they have chairs and tables to sit for a few. There is milk for kids, a bathroom, seats to eat in and street parking. We tried their sweet and hot sandwich and tater tots and they were delicious too! The staff are very friendly and the location is super convenient and close to the Pitt campus, Point Park campus, and multiple hospitals in the Oakland neighborhood. Insanely delicious waffles and waffle sandwiches!  Artisan waffles that are made daily from scratch.  Located on Forbes Ave in the heart of Oakland.  Small but so tasty and comes in several flavor options, I tried the Swanson, which is a waffle sandwich, with bacon, cheddar & Swiss between two waffles and a side of syrup! The waffles are basically belgian waffle style and they load on a bunch of toppings. They also serve drinks/coffee. The interior is really brightly decorated and colorful, and they have a fair amount of seating inside. Although if it's a popular day and there are big groups dining in, it can be hard to find a spot, and the tables won't be the cleanest since so many people come and go. The vibe is super casual, not really a sit down brunch place. More like a cafe. I got the fall seasonal special which was topped with pumpkin and crushed graham crackers. Tried this place for the first time after a run and it def was a sugar rush that i gladly needed ! We ordered the cinnamon waffle and the chocolate chip, which were more of their classic flavors as you can't always go wrong with cinnamon and chocolate. I was afraid the toppings were going to be overwhelming on the waffle, but i think the ratio was just right. Pittsburgh has a variety of food spots in walking distance from Carlow University, Pitt, and Carnegie Mellon. Your kids will not go hungry. There is something for everyone. My son took me to Smashed Waffles. I will definitely be going back. You can park on the street. We went on Sunday and the parking was free. When you walk in, there is a menu between 2 tablets where you can place your order. You can also order at the counter. I ordered the Swisskey sandwich along with the Trouble maker Latte with no cinnamon sauce. Not big on cinnamon. The Swisskey comes with turkey sausage, egg, and cheese between 2 small waffles. My son got 2 Chatty Patty's sandwiches. Same as mine but with pork sausage. We also got 3 sweet waffles, Chip chip Hooray of course. Trouble maker Latte is a must try. Definitely order again. I removed the cinnamon sauce and added whip cream. My Swisskey was delicious. My son, of course, enjoyed his food. I left full but not stuffEd. The staff was so friendly and engaging. Good selection of sweet and savory waffles located right off Forbes. Good areas for selfies on the inside of the spot. As a fan of savory waffles, I was surprised that their sweet waffle game is actually much better than their counterpart savory waffle. Chip Chip hooray and the quilted pig were both excellent. I also ordered one of the fabled insane lattes, specifically the The Hazy. Its definitely something I would have liked when i was in college as its a sugar bomb with a ton of caffeine in it. Stopped by this place this morning near my hotel. I think it's a great concept. Love the idea of using something like a waffle and just doing all these creative things with it. Essentially waffles as gourmet donuts. Waffles as sandwich ends. Even mini waffle munchkins. Love it. We just had this cookie and chocolate flavored topping waffle. The waffle itself was nice and toasty and had melted chocolate and other stuff drizzled all over it. It was pretty, good although it's so rich, you can only eat so much. I saw this restaurant while in route to dine at another restaurant t in the area. I was interested in checking it out. Admittedly the interest came from the beings colors- great marketing tactic! I walked from the VA hospital to this location in a Saturday morning. It was about a 15 minute walk. I placed the order online and it was ready by the town I arrived. The pace the to go orders in a table near the register. You just find your name and go. I would highly recommend ordering ahead! I appreciated not having to wait in line. I opted to eat the meal at one of the few tables located in front of the restaurant. I had the savory waffle sandwich with egg and cheese and a pumpkin spice latte. The sandwich was good. The waffles were soft. However, the meal was not anything I would have to have again. The coffee was good . I appreciate that it was not overly sweet. For the price you get a lot of drink. I can't believe I paid $9 for three small waffles. I came here with my friend because there were good Yelp reviews and I love myself a yummy waffle. Maybe it was just an off day when I came, but I would not eat this if someone paid me to. I got the Swirly Sin, Quilted Pig, and The Cereal Thriller. Don't be fooled by the looks of these waffles because although they are Instagrammable, they are not delicious. All 3 waffles were extremely sweet and soggy. Maybe my sensibilities are utterly American and binge eating centric (I've got a lot of feelings to eat through, okay?!?!), but this place is kind of a let down. When I saw this waffle/breakfast sandwich themed shop pop up with themed lattes, I was so jazzed. I told my partner we had to go sometime. We were in the area and so we parked on the street and went in. There was not really any indoor seating, so be ready to just order pick up. There was a measly one table and some other customer was sitting there. The menu names are so ridiculous that even the person taking my order seemed embarrass to read them back to me to confirm my order. "So you'd like one Quilted Pig, one Stinger, and one Cookie Monster Foam Party?" After tip, I paid around $20-something dollars. They gave me a GIANT to go box and my drink that was half foam and very sweet. We go out to the car and opened it up to find the tiniest little sad waffles. These were little a little snack, not quite the decadence I was expecting. The quilted pig tasted okay. The stinger wasn't spicy at all even though it implied it had a spicy honey. The Cookie Monster foam party didn't taste like cookie dough at all except that it was sweet as heck. All in all, if you want a good waffle place, I'd rather go to Waffles Incaffinated. The Smashed Waffle seems only suitable for a stopping in for a sweet, weirdly marketed drink, humiliating the servers by making them say your order to you, and maybe an after-meal dessert. read more

Stopped in for the April 412 deal (3 sweet waffles and 1 latte for $4.12) this morning. It can be kind of hard to find close street parking along Forbes, but this location is really convenient for students in the area. Restaurant was relatively busy when we came in at 9:00 but we managed to find a couple chairs and our food was ready 15 minutes later. I liked each of my waffles but was particularly happy with the "swirly cinn" waffle. The waffles were nice and moist and made to order too which was great! 10/10 would recommend! read more
