Excellent service. My breakfast was delicious! The place is super nice-clean-great vibes! Really enjoyed my food and the ambiance. The drip American coffee needs work. Very weak but it is a Turkish Rest. So I'm going not complaining - just saying that needs to be more like coffee. The bread was delicious and they really take good care of everyone that walks in there. Felt welcomed and appreciated.
I got the Smoked Salmon Crêpe (4/5) and the menemen (5/5). The crepe was pretty good but small, so I am really glad I got the menemen too. The menemen and bread were excellent; the bread was super soft and went wonderfully with the flavorful menemen! We went through two baskets of bread with our dishes, so the menemen and bread was an incredible value too. I am excited to come back and try other items! The service was good (4/5) but slightly slow. The restaurant has a nice cafe vibe (4/5). There were only one or two tables open late on a rainy Sunday afternoon, so there might be a wait sometimes, but it would be worth it.
I got a recommendation from a local that was Turkish. I immediately looked it up and got their the next morning. I love checking out local regional food. I ordered their two person traditional breakfast with some Turkish coffee. The olives, cheeses and bread was delish. Their egg dish also hit the spot. It was too much for me to eat in one sitting and was perfect for a late afternoon leftover. The deal is perfect for two people and I highly rate the whole experience. The staff were kind and the cafe was quaint and all in Turkish style!
This place is very delicious! The service was excellent, our server was kind and welcoming. The ambiance was nice, I loved the decor and the overall vibe, it was great. I paid about $24 for my cheese omelet and Turkish coffee! The omelet was really good, super cheesy (plus for cheese lovers out there lol!)
It is a go! Elegant Turkish coffee service. Very friendly and accommodating service, really good food and coffee, with an ambience of a rustic coffee shop. I had a Turkish coffee and menemen (a Turkish tomato, egg and sausage dish) and it was excellent. My girlfriend had the oatmeal which she said was very solid. Also, the restaurant is Halal if that's something that you were looking for. There is the sister restaurant for lunch and dinner across the street, but I did not try that place.
I really love Alihan's. Celebrated birthdays at their main location. So when I heard about their breakfast spot, I knew I had to check it out. Of course, it did not disappoint. I got to try their menemen, ayran, and sweet pogaca breakfast pastry. Everything was wonderful across the broad. Truly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The menemen was so flavorful. Tons of tomatoes, some spice, some other vegetables, fresh eggs. And the lovely fresh bread that accompanies it is just out of this world. So soft and perfect. Soaks up that delicious sauce. You must try this. The pogaca, I initially thought might be basic or overpriced, but I was proven wrong. It was so, so good. Another must try. So soft as well. I had the sweet version with honey. The honey is excellent. Even on its own this pastry is amazing, and it's just next level with the honey. Finally, the ayran. It was at this spot that I discovered I love ayran. It is just so perfect. Amazing portion, great price too. Best balance of saltiness and creaminess. So so so good. I can't recommend this place more highly. Definitely have to try it out for authentic Turkish breakfasts in Pittsburgh!

We came to try the Turkish coffee. My hubby also had the summer salad. The staff here is very friendly and they kept their modest and informal restaurant clean. They sell Turkish breakfast items but also salads and light lunch items. You can get a variety of teas as well. If you want the Turkish coffee, understand it's an experience, not a grab and go like at Starbucks or Dunkin. It is served in a traditional cup which is small, but the coffee is potent like a Cuban cafecito. The salad with shrimp was good, but the dressing was very light and oily. We are more used to a vinegary taste with oil based dressings. But it was a good portion with fresh ingredients. Not their fault, but there are vagrants in the vicinity, and one happened in while we were there pretending to be a customer. He didn't get to stay long, so no worries. It's downtown after all. If you're in the area and looking for a good Turkish cafe, Alihan's is a good place to try.
Was in town for a couple of baseball games. This spot is just across the Clemente bridge. Delicious!! Manama breakfast. We are still talking about it. The Saltons coffee with Turkish Delight and baklava. Put this on your list when visiting!!
Breakfast here this morning was excellent! We ordered the Turkish breakfast for two and it was plenty of food and a really nice variety. I'll be dreaming about the honey and butter. All the veggies tasted fresh and the menemen was so good, especially with adding sausage. An issue for me was that there were no bathrooms - both were out of order. I asked if there was somewhere I could wash my hands and they brought me hand sanitizer, but it's not really the same. It seemed family friendly, but they did not appear to have high chairs. We'll definitely come back again since the food was so good!
Regardless of your religion, belief, or creed, I think we can all agree that Turkish breakfast will be served in paradise and if we're lucky, Alihan's will do the catering! I legitimately have no negative feedback to give. The interior was beautifully decorated and really made you forget you just walked off the street in downtown Pittsburgh. Everything was ornately designed even down to the dining ware they used. I haven't felt that fancy since the first time I learned what fine china was. The food made me emotional, having to leave felt like going through an unwanted separation. I ordered the menemen specialty and a sultan coffee that came a Turkish delight. Everything was fresh and hit you with overwhelming flavor. The portions were easily enough for 2 meals (and the leftovers helped ease the separation anxiety). The service was fantastic. You can feel the passion that the owners/staff have for sharing their food and their culture, which adds to making the overall experience feel like a lot more than just stopping for a bite. If you are in Pitt, I cannot recommend enough stopping here! You won't be disappointed, but you may need to step back and re-evaluate your life after.
The level Pittsburgh has stepped their food game up since I left in 09' continues to shock me. This was nothing short of a perfect breakfast with the bread being the star of the show. I stopped in for a cup of coffee and after looking at the menu, decided to grab a small bite. The server recommended their Menemen, which I ordered and I got a Turkish coffee to go with it. Both came out pretty quickly and looked pretty good. The coffee was nice and strong. The Menemen was flavorful and came with a really nice looking bread that resembled a baguette with a software exterior. Flavor of the Menemen was nice, far from spicy, but it tasted pretty good spread on the bread. Service was great - very friendly and helpful. The venue is nice, quaint, but has plenty of seating. Alihan's had been on my "to-go" list longer than I'd like to admit. Don't be like me--go sooner! Maybe my new favorite breakfast place? Don't sleep on the Turkish breakfast for two (choose the menemen--trust me.) Turkish coffee is a necessity and spending the extra couple dollars on the Sultan version (comes with a piece of baklava and Turkish delight) was absolutely well worth it. The veg was fresh and the flavors delightful. The cheeses were incredible and I could never decide what my next bite was going to be, I wanted it all. Alihan's has been moved to my recommendation list for Pittsburgh and I'm so looking forward to my next visit! read more

What a delicious experience! We really enjoyed our Turkish breakfast for two. It included bread and condiments, a couple of Turkish cheeses, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and a yummy egg, sausage and potato dish. The Turkish coffee was exactly what I needed too. Just wait a couple of minutes to let the grounds settle and then you have a morning boost with more caffeine than two espressos. This is a great experience when you have a little time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. You won't be sorry. read more

My friend and I stopped by Alihan's Coffee and Breakfast for brunch. Upon entering, the place was packed, even though it was a Monday morning. Despite the nearly full restaurant, service was reasonably fast. Our server promptly took our orders, and we got our food and Turkish coffee in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered the omellete, which came with two sides. The omellete was cooked perfectly and had the perfect amount of browning while still being soft and moist. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for both locals and tourists. read more

This restaurant was honestly 10/10 for our breakfast. It didn't take too long to get seated, even for their few seating. The food was absolutely amazing. Even though they messed up on my order at first, my right order was out in very short time. The staff were extremely friendly, loved the Turkish cuisine. Restaurant was also extremely clean. So happy I found this spot while on our trip to Pittsburg! The location is perfectly placed central to a lot of things! We stayed at the Hotel Monaco and it was only an 8 minute walk from there. This place is small and intimate and looks to be locally owned. The workers there were very pleasant. I went with my sister and we ordered quite a few things. Everything tasted so good! My favorite was the burrata salad! My sister also ordered the Turkish coffee and it came in a cute little cup. So cute. read more

The food is wonderful. Menemen, especially. We went on a Friday morning around 1030, and it was relatively busy so I didn't expect quick service. You seat yourself and wait. I had a pot of Turkish tea while waiting for my food and with some honey and lemon, it's great. We got the Turkish breakfast for two which comes with all that's seen in the photo. You may order over easy eggs instead of scrambled for the menemen. Also, if you order spicy sausage there will be a surcharge. Ambience is really nice it's got a cozy vibe and a coffee bar. I recommend the spot if you're trying to scratch an itch for Turkish food/tea. read more

The Turkish bread is so smooth that it slides right down your throat. You don't even have to chew. I don't know what's in the Menemen and I don't want to know. This is one of the tastiest stews I've ever had. This is the only restaurant I've been to in Pittsburgh. Is it like this everywhere in the city? read more
My friend and I walked here from our hotel for a late breakfast on Veteran's Day. They weren't very busy when we got there (around 12:30 or so) and it took a while for a server to greet us and get our order placed. After 35 minutes with no one coming back or even bringing out our coffees we ordered, I had glanced back and a different server saw me and came over to see if we needed help. I asked her if they normally serve the drinks with the meal or if they come out beforehand because we had thought we would at least have our coffees by now. She said she would go check. A couple of minutes later our actual server came over and asked me to "remind her of our coffee order" and I said we ordered the traditional Turkish coffee and a sultan's coffee and she nodded her head and said "yes, it's on its way" or something like that and walked off. It was a little strange, but there seemed to be a slight language barrier. A few minutes after that she comes back, with no coffees, and asks us to now also "remind her" of our breakfast order because she "accidentally mixed up tables." We had only ordered the Turkish breakfast for 2 with meneman and the 2 different coffees, so I'm not sure what there was to "mix up." We also were seated near the only 2 other tables that had people at them (and this is a very small space). The table to my left was one man by himself and the table to my right was a group of 3-4 people who were already done eating before we arrived. It made us feel like she had just forgotten to put in our order entirely. About 5 minutes later she comes back with some of our food and asks if we want to move to a bigger table, so we do. The rest of our food and coffees came out and she also brought out some hot teas for the "inconvenience" (her words). The food was INCREDIBLE and we loved every bite. It was nice being able to have little bites of different things and feel full when you leave, but not bloated. The table had a really flavorful hot sauce out already and it was a great addition to the meneman. The drinks were all wonderful- I was glad to have the extra tea because our server never came over to ask if we needed anything else or check on us after we initially moved tables/started eating, so we never got water refills or extra napkins. Only one other person came in to eat after we arrived, so it was not because it was busy. We sat around for a few minutes after we were done and the other server that had said she would ask about our coffees came over to bring us our check so we could leave. While the food was really delicious, I don't think I would ever come back here based off of the bad customer service and wait time we experienced. Maybe other customers have better luck when eating here, but there are plenty of other breakfast spots in the city to eat at. read more

My first experience with Turkish food was out in Philadelphia. I was delighted ever since but very hard to find Turkish cuisine, specifically. I was so happy to have found this coffee/ breakfast spot!!!! We went twice, it was packed for Sunday brunch!! Hard to find parking, long wait and not a very good dry erase board where you put your name on. As names are called the names above get erased but other people start writing their names and then those names get called before you do after waiting so much longer. A terrible wait list system! We finally go a table. Ordered but switched tables from a six seater to a two seater, since there was a family of four waiting to be seated. Whom were ahead of us but the dry erase system bumped them off to the bottom as others wrote their name above theirs too! The waiter said it was good and thanked us for making the larger table available but I guess he failed to notify the kitchen because our order went to the other table lol thank goodness I caught wind of it and waved the waitress to our table. We ordered sunny side eggs 3, Turkish beef sausage and roasted potatoes, Turkish bread with cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes, and chocolate crepes. It was amazingly delicious!!! The second time we drove here and it was a Monday morning, was able to find a parking spot not too far from the cafe. No wait we were sat down immediately. We both ordered omelets, cheese, and a veggie. They were served with some Turkish bread. Both were well seasoned and cooked right. It was very filling. We also tried the yogurt drink and that was so refreshing. I love plain yogurt and this was perfect! We had a hot chocolate and a coffee all very good! The restroom was clean and all the tables and chairs were clean as well. Will definitely come back when I'm this area. read more

The food was good but customer service is HORRIBLE. They sat me next to the area they are juicing and ALL of the gnats were everywhere. My son was so hungry from waiting 30 minutes so we didn't leave but I was disgusted. I wouldn't go back. And then f you eat here sit closest to the front door so the gnats don't hover over you. The shrimp and avocado sandwich was good I tossed most of the bread but the shrimp was good. My son got the French toast it was way too brown but like I said he was hungry. read more

Subtle but effective decor reminds you that you are in a Turkish setting. We came here for breakfast and our server was so happy to explain all the options and make sure we got our dishes as we requested, A+ for service! The food was delicious and plentiful. I habmd the Breakfast, a dish called Menomonee, eggs with peppers, onions and tomatoes, I added the spicy Turkish sausage and it was flavorful and so satisfying! Recommend 100%! read more

I cannot rave about this place enough. I tried it for the first time summer 2023 when I was visiting my best friend. I fell in love with Turkish breakfast. To the point that I talked about it so much to my boyfriend, that when we found ourselves in Pittsburgh this summer, he made sure we visited this place first day we were in the city. We got the breakfast for two with menemen and a pot of Turkish tea, followed by Turkish coffee. They never disappoint. The whole meal is just impecable. The bread is my absolute favorite! The service is always incredible. We are there almost every day and the owner always said, "welcome back" when we came in each morning. It's always the highlight of my time in Pittsburgh. read more

I stopped by here with my wife and twins on a Sunday morning earlier this year. Every Sunday we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning we went to Alihan's Coffee and Breakfast. The inside of the restaurant was quite beautiful with bright yellow walls, wood looking flooring and some fun lights. For a place with coffee very large in their name I did find the to go place to order a coffee somewhat cramped and small. In any case I ordered myself a large pistachio latte and my wife a large plain latte. After only a couple of minutes wait I had my coffees and we were on our way. Unfortunately my coffee from here ended up being quite disappointing. I felt like the coffee itself was super mild and I couldn't taste the pistachio either. As someone who likes strong coffee, that is not a good combination for me. My wife has similar coffee tastes and also thought that there wasn't enough coffee flavor. The bottom line for me is that I wouldn't stop back here again in the future, at least for coffee. With that being said I did enjoy the look and feel of the shop and thought that their breakfasts looked good and so would be willing to give that a try. read more

I CAN'Y BELIEVE I DIDN'T GET PICTURES FROM HERE! We ordered two TURKISH breakfast Delights for 2 with the potato and egg dish, and it comes with a plate of cucumbers, olives, and tomatoes, a cheese plate, freshly baked bread, and honey with butter and homemade marmalade! OMG IT IS SOOOOO GOOD!!! This is one of our new favorite spots for breakfast (and it's so nice because it's so close to our house)!
