Through the Resy app, I made a reservation for breakfast for my husband and me. Upon our arrival, the seating hostess promptly seated us at a small, clean table. The restaurant's interior design looked colorful and interesting. The lighting was dim (so I used my cell phone's light to read the menu!). The breakfast menu listed foods such as coffee cake, banana foster bread pudding, biscuit and gravy, salmon toast, eggs Benedict, brisket hash, and sandwiches and beverages such as coffees, teas, cocktails, juices, beers, and wines. Our waitress provided courteous service, although she decided to bring out my main course as our shared appetizer and brought our drinks a bit later. Here are my reviews for what we ate: Caramel Apple French Toast - 4 stars - This French toast had two layers--a bottom one that was plain and a top one that had toppings of roasted apples, almond brittle (hard and crunchy), and caramel. Quiche Lorraine - 3.5 stars - This quiche was taller than quiches that we have seen at other restaurants. The egg custard was in the top and middle, and the bacon, onions, and cheese were on the very bottom. We would have preferred that these ingredients be mixed in, and my husband did not eat the plain egg in the top. He did like the side salad that had a not-heavy dressing. Giant Cinnamon Bun - 4.5 stars - This dessert is served only on Saturdays and Sundays and is similar to a cinnamon roll. It was a large almond streusel topped with a good amount of cream-cheese icing. My husband said that he liked it, and so did I. Hot Chocolate - 4 stars - This 12-ounce hot chocolate tasted very good. Before we saw Wicked, we stopped here for brunch. It is so conveniently located in the cultural district. We had a large party of 13 and they accommodated us perfectly (we did make reservations). I really like Sally Ann's for its vibe; however, the menu and service always fall short of making it great. The place is always hopping busy so make sure you have a reservation. Really love the decor of this place. I find the menu has fairly heavy food and leaves me wanting a something in the middle between their light and hearty options. Ultimately, we went for the the corned beef benedict and the avocado toast. We tried the hash browns as a side and it came in fun square cubes. Our table didn't have a menu for the fancier coffee drinks, which we might have gone for had we seen the menu. I had a regular coffee, and it was really hard getting coffee refills or the server's attention. Service is a weird recurring issue. I've often sat at the counter, waiting for 15-20 minutes for them to give me drip coffee: and was told it's the same line as prepared coffee drinks, so we'll give it to you when the time comes... while there's a brewed pot right there. Our table ordered lattes and the brisket hash, Pittsburgh nasty, and the sausage brisket sandwich. The brisket hash was not very good, it didn't have much flavor and was very soupy. My friend thought the Pittsburgh nasty was good, and my other friend was not too impressed with the sausage brisket sandwich. Our coffee drinks came after our food was delivered. It would have been nice to drink them while waiting for our food. It also wasn't very busy when we showed up so not sure why the drinks took so long. The ambiance is also interesting. The ambiance was so cute and our service was great. The food was delicious, my husband got an egg sandwich and I got the salmon toast. Listen, just get here! Seriously... a wonderful spot to grab breakfast that is so incredibly beautiful and welcoming. The decor is amazing and the seating is great. They have a large table for bigger parties, a bar area with lots of seating, high tops, private booths and various table/chair options as well. The one thing that really disappointed me was the holiday drink special I ordered, the Dublin Smash. When it came to the table, there was a significant amount of "seasoning" around the rim. The drink had butterscotch in it and from the look of it, it looked to be cut up butterscotch candy. I tried it and immediately I realized that bacon had also been mixed in. Nowhere on the drink menu did it mention that and as a vegetarian, it was upsetting and completely turned me off. Really awesome, somewhat hip spot that is under the umbrella of Richard DeShantz restaurants. They really never disappoint. It is a little pricey, but the food is awesome. I got to try their Egg Ric Muffin and their ham and cheese croissant. Both were very good. The muffin was substantially more expensive than the croissant but the portion size was relatively similar (minus the parmesan potatoes), so I think that is a much better deal. However, flavor wise I enjoyed the muffin more. There is a great balance of flavors with the cheese, canadian bacon, and egg. Even the sauce is delicious. Not too fatty either and the muffin was in great shape. The potatoes were great as well, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, good amount of cheese, and good portion. The croissant was also very good, but quite rich. The cheese they added on top was a bit much for me, but they also packed a good amount of seemingly quality meat. Quite good for the price. Perfect place to go if you want overpriced food, horrible service and an overall bad time. I went this morning with my friend, and we immediately felt off kilter about the place. It has a weird vibe, as if they don't understand what theme they want it to be. TVs are on every wall and in every booth as if it is a sports bar, and the lighting is dim. My friend originally was going to get the avocado toast ($19...), however we both opted for the BEC sandwich, and she got a side of vegan sausage and orange juice. She does not like eggs, so asked for the egg on the side and I would have it. I do not like bacon so I asked for bacon on the side and she would have it. An amazing plan! We put our order in and waited for the food. When it arrives 10 minutes later (actually not bad!), the look of the food immediately throws us off. Her side of egg given to me also had a melted slice of cheese on top. She did not ask for the cheese to be on the side. When asking our waiter kindly for a slice of cheese for her sandwich, she replies "The cheese comes on the egg." in a sarcastic manner. This firmly established that the negative vibe we felt was real. As we began to eat, I found out that the egg itself is just a sliced slab (sheet pan cooked, not fried, and unseasoned) with a slice of Kraft American cheese on top. Very worth $19!!!!!!! The potatoes were ok but clearly overly well done. The vegan sausage that my friend had was very over seasoned with fennel and salt and was practically uneatable. Ultimately, I left extremely unsatisfied with my food and experience. Do NOT go here!!! So much better diner and breakfast food in Pittsburgh that will not break the bank and has the friendliest, nicest environment that you want to see in the morning. read more

We went here for brunch on a chillier Saturday with our pup and didn't have any trouble snagging a table outside. It was indeed a big roll but not too heavy and with the most delicious, tangy icing - we had no trouble finishing this one! He was slow to acknowledge anyone, slammed down anything he picked up and was generally unpleasant to everyone to the point that I didn't stick around to try the kale Caesar salad I cancelled the order paid for my old vinegar-y glass of wine and bounced. This was a great brunch spot during my visit to Pittsburgh. My friend made us a reservation for us two months ahead to ensure we got a spot but we did notice some people got there with no reservation and were seated eventually. Seating outside was wonderful they have a cute little outside seating area with umbrellas. The decor inside and out was so cute, I love the floral decor throughout the restaurant. Their brunch menu has many great options, I especially loved the coffee and tea options. My iced chai latte was very good. We ordered some pastries before our main entree and the banana bread was soft and moist. For my entree I ordered the quiche of the day, I got the veggie and it was a big slice. Very tasty and I really like the flavors of the sun-dried tomato and the crust. I really liked the location of this restaurant, it was very close to the sister bridges and PNC park.
