    Tex-Mex Omelette

Cute diner with good service. Parking isn't the greatest but we were able to find a spot in the side parking lot. I ordered the Tex-Mex Omelette because it said it was a favorite on the menu. I was disappointed with it. It was lacking flavor and seemed like a bland jarred salsa was used with the chorizo inside. The potatoes were pretty good but the toast was dry and burnt in places. This place had good reviews and has been around forever so I was excited to try it but found it to be lackluster.

    Hotcakes $7.59 for two cakes.

This is a neighbourhood grub hub, that was recommended by so many people when we asked around, so we thought we'd try it out. The diner itself is super cute with pink and blue seats, pictures all over their walls, and I don't know if it's celebrities or patrons, but I thought it was a nice touch. The place is really clean, and warm. Our waitress was very pleasant, and we were very fortunate to have her help us with the menu, and answer other questions about the strip. The stars given on today's review was for both the service and the atmosphere of this place. The food is something I wasn't very impressed with. I ordered the meat and eggs, where you have a choice of toast, and meats to accompany your eggs and hash. Which I would have expected to be quite standard. However, I asked for crispy potatoes and really well don't bacon, of which I enjoyed the bacon, but the potatoes really taste more like potato salad then a hash, so if your into that it's the dish for you. It was crispy on the outside and quite salad-y on the inside, and I really dislike potato salad, but it seems to be something the locals really enjoy. Toast was under toasted. I also ordered the famous pancakes, and once I bit into it, I found them to be more of a flat, chewie pancake, and not flavourful at all. I was at least expecting some vanilla, but I got noffin. I smothered it with syrup and butter, but it just didn't do it for me. My dining partner really didn't have much to say about the sandwich either. I honestly don't see what the hype was about this place, but so many people were buzzing about it, so we had to try it, the food was mediocre at best. But the atmosphere and staff are both very nice, and made this experience a little more enjoyable.

So, so good. Crepe pancakes and bacon. Also had the hash. The best food I had when I was visiting Pitt.

After waiting one hour in the rain this is the table they gave us (see photo). Within minutes a served dropped some cups behind us and splashed on me. Then I asked for Splenda for my coffee but they don't have it. Service was slow. Food was average and cold. No one offered me a coffee refill. Over rated tourist trap. Plus no parking. Avoid at all costs.

We had a weekday morning breakfast closer to noon. We did not have to wait. I had the Blueberry Hotcakes which were excellent. The pancakes are thin with a crisp to the edges. I liked the whole thing was not overly sweet, but that could be because the blueberries were on the tart side. For me the portion size was good. Cute diner atmosphere. Service was friendly. Our food came out quickly. Prices were standard for this type of food.

glad I pre-read the advice to arrive prior to 10am- small inside, located between two churches & parks, we arrived at 9am, were seated, and when all the nearby activities concluded around 10am the place had a line out the door... flad we pre-read the advice to arrive prior to 10am- a small quaint restaurant, with big delicious flavors, we arrived around 9am, seated, ordered, & ate, by 10am when all nearby activities concluded the place had a line out the door- service was great; friendly, quick, attentive- we opted to split the tex-mex omelette & morning after special (sausage & plain pancakes) I agree with the adjective 'famous' for the crepe pancakes- a delicious blend fluffy-thin dense chewy bites- with the buttery rich doughy- not too overly sweet eggs & sausage were hearty- cooked perfectly- well-seasoned the tex mex omelette was PACKED with ingredients- the home fries potatoes had a delectable char & buttery scrumptious onions both platters were hearty-bang for your buck! our waitress was on point with coffee refills- absolute recommend- we didn't have to wait, but if you do get stuck in the morning rish line, know it is there for a reason & it is worth the wait (& ooh reasonable prices)

It was a typical retro-vintage stop inside, and I was forewarned by the veteran waitress they were open only for the next half-hour. I reassured her I was not planning to stay long. It must've been the end of a long shift for her because she was grumbling to the busboy about the other waitress who decided to leave early. This other woman, clearly the 'Kiss Mah Grits' type, alienated me by calling me Mr. Miyagi and cackling about it to the rest of the staff. I thought I might be expected to recite lines from "The Karate Kid". Instead I ordered the $11.25 Grilled Meatloaf Melt, which came with quite a slice covered in fried onions and melted Swiss cheese barely held together by the toasted rye bread. It was on the greasy side, and the fries were dried out (Photo 10). What would Mr. Miyagi say? DeLuca's is exactly what I'm looking for in a diner! Old school place, seating was comfortable, and our waitress made us feel right at home! I went with the Steel City and that included everything!
