I've eaten here several times, but unfortunately after today I won't be back. I ordered the Greek meal and asked for my eggs over, specifically explaining that I wanted the whites cooked well because I don't like any slime in the whites. When my food came, the eggs were completely hard. The meat wasn't the quality I prefer--it reminded me more of lunch meat--but I understand that's a matter of personal preference. I knew I probably wasn't going to eat the meat, and I wasn't asking for anything to be done about that. I figured I would just eat my eggs and potatoes, but the eggs were too well done for me to eat. It took a little while before I was able to get the waitress's attention to let her know. She said, "Oh, so you wanted them over medium." Maybe that's what I should have said when ordering, but I had tried to explain exactly how I wanted them because I don't like the whites runny. I had also ordered a quesadilla to go, so at that point I decided to forget about the breakfast and just eat my quesadilla instead. Our bill was around $80, and when the check came there was no adjustment for the eggs. I asked the waitress if an adjustment could be made, and she said she would have to ask. I asked if the owner could just come out so I could speak with her myself. The owner came out and immediately said, "I can't give you any free food." That caught me completely off guard because I wasn't asking for free food. We had an $80 bill that I fully expected to pay. Then she said she couldn't give me a free quesadilla. Again, I never asked for a free quesadilla. I ordered it and expected to pay for it. I was simply asking for an adjustment for the eggs that I couldn't eat. I told her that I come here all the time, and she basically shrugged her shoulders like, "So what?" That really bothered me. When I said the breakfast wasn't good, she told me there was nothing wrong with the meat. I explained that while I didn't care for the quality of the meat, that wasn't what I was asking to have adjusted. My issue was the eggs. She eventually said she could take the eggs off the bill--which was all I had been asking about in the first place. By then, I had already paid and was ready to leave. And honestly, the food was never really the reason I kept coming back. Kathy, the older waitress, was. She has always given us warm, friendly service and made us feel welcome. We didn't have Kathy today because we chose to sit at the counter, but as we were leaving, she still took the time to apologize to us for what happened. I appreciated that, especially because the situation wasn't hers to apologize for. Food can be cooked wrong. Orders can get messed up. Those things happen. What I couldn't get past was being approached as though I was trying to get something for free when I never asked for anything free. After being a returning customer and spending $80 on our meal, the way the situation was handled--especially the shrug when I said I come there often--was enough for me. Legit not a bad bite on the plate, the hot sausage wasn't some unfrozen lifeless link, it was super tasty. Got really lucky and had this place recommended to my hubs and I the other night (by the amazing bartenders at the super cool Bottle Rocket Social Hall) - for the wonderful Allentown Night Market. They opened for the 1st time for the market. The place is on the main drag and a bit quirky inside - there appear to be far fewer tables than the place could hold with huge open floor space near the front. We grabbed a couple stools at the old fashioned counter. The servers are such a treat here! Kathy waited on us and kept us entertained the entire time! She felt like a friend by the time we left. Her niece is the manager - and equally fun. It's a family atmosphere. We decided to get a Rachel (me) & a Reuben (hubs). Mine was in Texas toast (no calories spared! ) with a good amount of deli turkey and a mild sauce. My husband declared the Reuben "good, though I wouldn't rush back to get another." (He's kind of a Reuben aficionado!). But the real star on both our plates was the *fresh* real French fries. Also $3.00 if you order take out then decide to dine is is ridiculous. My fiancé and I stopped at Breakfast at Shelly's Sunday morning around 10am. Much to our surprise, the place was empty! It quickly became clear that they do a lot of business through grubhub. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with hot sausage and home fries (my go to) and my fiancé ordered the standard #2 (2 eggs over easy, sausage, home fries, and toast). The sandwich came on a Dutch crunch bun which was delish. The sausage wasn't your standard patty or link, it was hand formed and grilled to perfection. Neither the fried egg nor the sausage was overly greasy which made the sandwich that much better. The home fries were cooked nicely with a seasoning blend that sets them apart from all the other diners. Overall, the only thing lacking was that diner "feel." We will likely return! read more

i called at 10. i got 1 omelette w/ home fries. they said 10 minutes. i get there 10 min later & wait inside for 30 min all the while there's really not that many people in there at all. :/ the food looks good in the photos but it's pretty bland. not coming here again. thought it would be a quick cheap option but it was more trouble than it was worth. BUT! on my way home i found a free trampoline on the side of the road which was great - hence the 2 stars lol read more
