My daughter recommended First Watch for brunch around the holiday time. I wasn't familiar with First Watch, so I was excited to try out a new spot for breakfast. This location is in a large shopping center complex. While the outside is a bit underwhelming, the interior is spacious, bright, and comfortable. I ordered the Bacado Omelet since it came with a bit of everything. The omelet was good, filled with bacon, chunks of avocado, cheese, and mixed greens. The Pico de gallo was underwhelming, no onions, and no hint of jalapeno, virtually flavorless. The home fries were cooked through, and tasty. The Million Dollar Bacon was ordered as a share item, and each slice was enjoyed bite by bite. The salty, smokiness of the bacon, with the maple syrup and brown sugar sweetness, and sprinkling of black pepper and cayenne was the perfect salty, sweet treat with a little kick. There was a half hour wait when we got in, mostly because we got there around 10. The staff had everything running as smoothly as possible. Our server was friendly and took care of two minor issues we had at our table without blinking an eye. First Watch is one of the best breakfast places around. Every time I have been to this location it has been a great experience. This location also has an outdoor eating area and serves alcohol, which makes for a good group brunch spot. There are so many good things to eat. My favorite is the market veggie sandwich. It comes on their delicious bread and has roasted mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, a basil pesto sauce, mayo, and mozzarella. The flavor combination is incredible. Some of my other favorites are the avocado toast, biscuits and turkey sausage gravy, pesto chicken quinoa bowl, elevated egg sandwich, and eggs benedict. I decided to place a pick up order today while I was out running some errands in the South Hills. I ordered on their website which was super easy to do. They gave me a pick up time 13 mins from when it was placed so I headed on over to wait in their parking lot till it was ready. I did end up waiting an additional 5-10 minutes which was no big deal for me as it was around what seemed to be a lunch rush. I did pick it up then run to my next errand so it did sit for about 15 minutes before I got to eat it. But in no way did that effect it, it tasted so good and I could not imagine how good it would have been if I ate it right away. Absolutely loved the house roasted onions and tomatoes on it!! Their horseradish sauce on the side completely blew me away, totally enhanced the sandwich. I was unable to eat my side salad though because I was missing silverware even-though I did select them to put some in the bag. I would not recommend this location. To start, I have been to First Watch dozens of times, this location being my second. My son and I got in line on the website, it said 5-15 minute wait..no problem. We check in, there are tons of people standing around, waiting inside and outside. Also over 12 tables empty. It was NOT busy. The hostess said it would be another 20 minutes. After 20 minutes (which had now been 30 since I checked in), I asked if we could be seated. Again, many empty tables. She was extremely rude and said "in a minute." We waited for 40 minute for what was supposed to be about 10. Get your staff figured out, and at least get people sat to get their cup of coffee. Breakfast should be quick, tables flipped. Or update your website line check in to be more accurate. read more

It's been years since we've been to First Watch. We arrived early on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was large with lists of seating. I ordered the breakfast sandwich that was full of flavor. Hubby had the avocado bread with 2 eggs. Great ending with sea salt on top. Seemed to be short staffed. Also as new patrons came in they were all seated in the same area. Seating them elsewhere throughout would have provided a better experience. My fiancé and I, deciding to enjoy our day off, went for lunch here yesterday around noon (3/12/25). Lunch was anything but pleasant. We were greeted by an unpleasant, gruff hostess (black hair - that's all I remember), and were rushed to our table. When taken to our table, we thanked the hostess; she responded with a sigh and walked away. We were passed by our server several times before she greeted us. When she arrived at the table, she actually said, "I've been walking right by you." No apology - nothing - just a rush to get our orders. She didn't check on us at all, did not refill our drinks, and when it was time to pay, she put the check down and walked away. She said nothing. So many servers expect 20 percent tips; she clearly expected it. We left her 10 percent, and that was more than she deserved. The food was pretty good, but we were unable to take it home. Our repeated attempts to get some takeout containers were ignored by the hostess and server. I've had takeout before but it's never as good as going, even though you probably will have to wait at least on weekend mornings. So this is basically a more modern Dennys. I don't get the hype of the other First Watches at all. Ambiance was nice, service was fine. But the food was just lackluster. Dry eggs, potatoes that looked like frozen ones (lots were uncooked) toast just loaded with butter (we weren't asked if we wanted this), chicken sausage patty that was rubbery and plastic tasting. Won't be back. There are so many other local breakfast spots in the area. Saving grace was the waffle, it was very light and fluffy. Pros: I like to come here for the vibe and high quality food. I have and will continue to be a customer here. Cons: Unfortunately they were out of goat cheese, but I was offered a substitute. As per usual, our food at First Watch / Siena / Upper St. Clair was outstanding. we enjoyed the smoked salmon frittata, million-dollar bacon, quinoa power bowl, and avocado toast. We would have given 5 stars, but upon leaving, we realized we wanted a takeout cup for our beverage. Our server, who'd been attentive and wonderful, was busy at another table. A different server walked past and one of us politely asked if she could grab a to- go cup for us. She brusquely answered, "YES. But I'm NOT your server." She then made a point of walking over to the young man at the host stand and clearly told him about it as they looked at us and gestured while they spoke. We got up and left without our beverage to go. Sadly, in the time it took for her to rudely go talk about us to her co- worker, she could've grabbed us a cup. She made no attempt to get a cup for us. Both of us are service industry employees and are so disappointed and frankly, appalled- Especially after a nearly $50 breakfast. Great place for breakfast/brunch. Highly recommend checking in online to get on the wait list, it gets very crowded on the weekends. Their menu is full of options from traditional breakfast favorites of omelets and pancakes, to breakfast burritos, and sandwiches. I ordered the French toast and a side of the million dollar bacon. The French toast comes with two huge slices of thick toast dipped in butter and egg, topped with powered sugar. On the side they give you maple syrup and berry puree. The berry puree is a bit tart alone but goes great with the sweetness of the toast. I would have liked a little more puree or flavor of the toast to really make it special, but still enjoyed my meal. The million dollar bacon was delicious! It was seasoned and drizzled with syrup that packed a punch of flavor. Bacon was also crispy and cooked perfectly. This was our first and last time eating at the First Watch location in Upper Saint Clair. We recently ate at the one in Charleston, SC and it's was absolutely amazing.. I am shocked at how different the quality of food is between the locations. The Charleston location's food was so good that I was craving it for weeks! When we went to the Upper Saint Clair location today we ordered the exact same items (Floridian French Toast and the Bacado) and also a chocolate chip pancake for our daughter. The avocado in and on the omelette was brown and the bacon was dry and flavorless. If there was cheese, you couldn't tell - and there was no pico. The fruit on the French toast was something that they should have been embarrassed to serve - the kiwi was falling apart and not fresh, neither were the two strawberries that were on it, and there was no cinnamon sugar on it. My daughter's pancake was grainy- the texture felt like the flour wasn't fully mixed in. The only reason for two stars instead of one is that all of the staff were very nice. Our server was sweet and did offer to take the pancake off the bill when my daughter said no thank you to a box because she didn't like it- but it did not make up for the overall poor quality of the food. The kitchen staff at the Upper Saint Clair location could really use some training from the Charleston staff. It didn't even taste like they were using the same recipes! read more

I first did a quick glance at the online menu while I waited in the parking lot for friends. The item I decided to order was not something that they had: a ham and gruyere omelet. So I asked for an omelet with ham and Swiss - Nope. No Swiss. I settled for ham and whatever cheese they could find - some yellow stuff with no flavor. The omelet itself was thick and dry and over cooked. The ham was little diced pieces that I only found in the center of the eggs. Nothing had any taste except the bit of lettuce that constituted a side salad. The food was cold within two minutes because of the cold air blowing on our table. It's winter - I don't need air conditioning. I ate four bites and paid through the nose for the privilege. Never again. I can make better at home.
