We went to Sparkie's today after eating there a handful of times. My husband ordered the Gyro omelette which is his go to and was disappointed with the lack and quality of the gyro meat. I generally get the pancakes which are always delicious but today they were not the same! My husband said something to the server and her response was it depends on who's cooking. After spending $46 with tip I don't think we'll be returning. It will be Trolley Barn for us as we always know what we'll get there. read more

Oh Yum!!! Cutest little breakfast spot in Dormont. My family and I stopped here after mass on a Sunday. It's first come first serve so luckily my brother n law went earlier and saved 8 spots! Service was great ( Lisa I think)? She as busy but was super accommodating and knew her speciality drinks very well! The place is small and had a unique diner meets cabin look to it. I just happened to be driving through Dormont and the front sign caught my eye while I was sitting at a red light, Sparkie's Breakfast. I turned around to give the spot a try. The y have a good-sized patio where you enter and even though it's on West Liberty, the patio has a nice awning by and gives it a more private feel. Inside it has a rustic theme with the wooden chairs and set up but it is very cute. Lesa greeted me right when I walked in and showed me to a table. She had a little small talk with me and made me feel very welcomed. The food was delicious! I love to find a new breakfast diner and this one hits the spot. They also have brunch-type alcoholic drink options as well. I definitely will be back. read more

Great local diner with delicious food and community feel! Came here on a Sunday morning at 10am and while it was busy, we got a table right away. The atmosphere is casual and rustic with wooden chairs and tables. Menu is full of classic breakfast favorites, along with gyro flavor options of burritos and omlettes. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito and loved it! It was packed with protein between the crispy bacon, sausage chunks, and cheesy eggs. Also inside the burrito is green pepper, caramelized onions, and crispy home fries. On the side they even give you salsa and sour cream for additional flavor. It was extremely filling and delicious! Sunday mornings are busy- if you're in a hurry I would avoid this place. If you have time to kill, then this is a great little spot. The food was good & the servers were all very nice. But the kitchen was backed up and extremely slow. We ordered immediately when we sat down and it took an hour to get our food. So again, if you're in a hurry, this is not the spot on a Sunday. Breakfast Burritos were good, Lattes were excellent, our only complaints were the slow kitchen, the French toast was soggy bread and orange juice was pretty terrible. That seems like a harsh review but ultimately it was a good experience. The coffee, burritos & kind servers made up for the other stuff. Would definitely go again! read more

Wanted to give this new breakfast spot in the area a try one Sunday. Overall the experience was good! Our waitress was friendly, but was unfamiliar with some of the menu, possibly due to the newness of the restaurant. Something interesting about this place was that they serve alcohol due to being associated with the pizza place next door. So, we tried two of the Irish Coffees and they were great! Food was also tasty - tried the Sparkie's Omlette and the Spinach and Feta scramble Prices were fair, but slightly above average. The inside is quaint but we got a table almost immediatly. read more

Checked out Sparkie's for the first time this weekend. First off, if you're thinking about the physical dump that was the former Tom's Diner, you will be pleasantly surprised by the total interior makeover. The outside still isn't much to look at, but the shady, worn-out diner look inside is gone. It was cozy, comfortable, and all of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and friendly. We had the Gmak Breakfast and the Original Breakfast. Gmak feta scrambled eggs were absolutely delicious--fluffy, buttery, with lots of grated feta. The gyro meat was also really good. Portions on both were very generous. The home fries, unfortunately, were truly awful--they tasted of old griddle grease and were undercooked, some of them literally crunchy-raw. Next time (and yes, I'll go back, because the rest of my food was very good) I will order the shredded hash browns instead. My husband's original breakfast had fluffy scrambled eggs, tasty sausage links (that needed to be hotter--maybe they were precooked, sitting on the griddle?), thick cut wheat toast, and crispy hash browns (that were way better than my raw home fries). Portions, again, were generous. Quality of the ingredients was clearly good, service was super quick, coffee was solid (there's an extensive coffee and brunch cocktail menu) and we will try again. read more

I came right here after working night shift in the hospital and boy did this cure me after a long night. Ambiance was wonderful. Our server was fabulous. I got the gyro breakfast burrito and yum yum yum. The place was very clean. The server was helpful and attentive on both visits. Will return. Very few places serve you breakfast and lunch on the same plate and very few restaurants arise like a phoenix from the ashes of a defunct diner next to a Mike & Tony's Gyro hut. Believe me, that is awesomely delicious. After a recent hospital visit, I was ready for some good food. How about a diner? Yes, please! I ordered the Gmak special. It came with eggs, home fries, gyro meat, and pita. I had never tried feta cheese on my eggs before, but I have seen the light. I ate eggs and toast, and then followed it up by making little gyro sandwiches on my plate. The service was EXCELLENT and the staff was hustling for a busy Friday at brunch time. The wooden chairs and decorations make the place feel like home. You will really dig this joint if you try it. read more

I asked for butter for my coffee and the woman who brought it to me acted like I was the freak of the century for asking for it and pretty much demanded an explanation (which I didn't give, google it). My guess is that from the way she thought she could speak to me, this older woman was most likely an owner. My actual waitress was lovely and amazing, I feel bad that she works there. Also the decor is a hideous hick vibe. If you're a tasteless Phillestine and voted for Trump, this place is perfect for you. I won't be going back. read more
