Sparkie's has the absolute best breakfast sandwich! We always have a great experience here and there's never a long wait. Servers are friendly and food is consistently satisfying.

Nice little breakfast establishment. Had to wait a few minutes for a table. Our waitress was great; refills and checking on us. The Chorizo scramble was so tasty and large with eggs on bottom, home fries then Chorizo on top. If you're looking for a good breakfast give Sparkie's a try.

Sunday mornings are busy- if you're in a hurry I would avoid this place. If you have time to kill, then this is a great little spot. The food was good & the servers were all very nice. But the kitchen was backed up and extremely slow. We ordered immediately when we sat down and it took an hour to get our food. So again, if you're in a hurry, this is not the spot on a Sunday. Breakfast Burritos were good, Lattes were excellent, our only complaints were the slow kitchen, the French toast was soggy bread and orange juice was pretty terrible. That seems like a harsh review but ultimately it was a good experience. The coffee, burritos & kind servers made up for the other stuff. Would definitely go again!

Love the servers here-- great personalities and super welcoming to all. Basic diner decor is fine. The food is just ok. Leftover gyros from next door Mike & Tony's (co-owned) and a shakshuka with as much flavor as Campbell's tomato soup. But ok if you're just looking for a diner breakfast.

Wanted to give this new breakfast spot in the area a try one Sunday. Overall the experience was good! Our waitress was friendly, but was unfamiliar with some of the menu, possibly due to the newness of the restaurant. Something interesting about this place was that they serve alcohol due to being associated with the pizza place next door. So, we tried two of the Irish Coffees and they were great! Food was also tasty - tried the Sparkie's Omlette and the Spinach and Feta scramble Prices were fair, but slightly above average. The inside is quaint but we got a table almost immediatly.

Checked out Sparkie's for the first time this weekend. First off, if you're thinking about the physical dump that was the former Tom's Diner, you will be pleasantly surprised by the total interior makeover. The outside still isn't much to look at, but the shady, worn-out diner look inside is gone. It was cozy, comfortable, and all of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and friendly. We had the Gmak Breakfast and the Original Breakfast. Gmak feta scrambled eggs were absolutely delicious--fluffy, buttery, with lots of grated feta. The gyro meat was also really good. Portions on both were very generous. The home fries, unfortunately, were truly awful--they tasted of old griddle grease and were undercooked, some of them literally crunchy-raw. Next time (and yes, I'll go back, because the rest of my food was very good) I will order the shredded hash browns instead. My husband's original breakfast had fluffy scrambled eggs, tasty sausage links (that needed to be hotter--maybe they were precooked, sitting on the griddle?), thick cut wheat toast, and crispy hash browns (that were way better than my raw home fries). Portions, again, were generous. Quality of the ingredients was clearly good, service was super quick, coffee was solid (there's an extensive coffee and brunch cocktail menu) and we will try again.

Service was great even though it was a packed Sunday morning, Sangria and Latte were a perfect combo for a brisk Sunday morning! Grabbed the Breakfast Burrito w/ B.Y.O.O (Build your own omelet) Outdoor seating is a vibe!

Phenomenal!!!! This place has hit a home run. What a beautiful replacement to Tom's Diner. Fresh delicious gyro meat sliced right off the spit. Large fluffy pancakes, buttery flavorful potatoes, rich dark coffee... what more could you want? Great ambiance. Great service. Great experience. This will be my new hangover helper from now on...

The rooms are spacious and clean, the decor is eclectic and beautiful, and the staff is always friendly. I love the signature scent throughout the hotel too. When we pulled up to the hotel, we parked in an area that the front desk later confirmed was not valet parking and that we were fully permitted to use. Despite this, a man wearing a plain black shirt with no name tag, hotel logo, or other identification immediately approached us and aggressively demanded, "You need to give me your keys now." He never introduced himself, never identified himself as a hotel employee or valet attendant, and never welcomed us to the hotel. Instead, he immediately became confrontational. When I explained that I was not comfortable handing my vehicle keys to an unidentified stranger, he escalated the situation by repeatedly yelling, "Bro, bro, you're not going to disrespect me." We attempted to walk away and continue with check-in, but the harassment did not stop. After checking in, we returned outside to unload our luggage, and he immediately confronted us again. This time, he threatened that if I did not hand over my keys, "there would be consequences." No guest should ever be threatened simply for asking reasonable questions or wanting to verify the identity of someone requesting possession of their vehicle. The front desk staff later confirmed that we had parked in the correct location and acknowledged that this employee's behavior was inappropriate. While I appreciated their honesty, that did not change what had already occurred or the fact that the individual continued to work the front entrance. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened throughout the remainder of our stay. Every time we entered or exited the hotel, this valet employee continued making comments about my group to his coworkers. He would smirk, laugh, and make remarks within earshot of us, often in front of the front desk staff. Rather than feeling welcomed as paying guests, we felt uncomfortable and uneasy every time we walked through the lobby. The hostility that began upon our arrival never truly ended. As an IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite member who spends more than 200 nights each year almost exclusively at IHG properties, I have always chosen IHG because of the professionalism, hospitality, and consistency I have experienced across its brands. Unfortunately, this stay was unlike anything I have ever encountered. In all my years of traveling, I have never felt so disrespected, singled out, isolated, or unwelcome at a hotel. IHG promotes its hotels as places where every guest should feel safe, respected, and valued. That was not my experience at this property. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, I felt that our concerns were dismissed, and the behavior of this employee created an environment where we no longer felt comfortable. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It has caused me to seriously reconsider my loyalty to IHG after spending hundreds of nights each year with the brand. I hope hotel management and IHG Corporate conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, address the conduct of the employee involved, and ensure that no future guest has to experience the same treatment we did.

He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).
