mix n match 3x entree (enchilada, quesadilla, tamal) 2x sides (black beans, rice)

this place is absolutely incredible! first off, the interior is beautiful, makes it feel like a high scale, expensive restaurant but the prices are extremely reasonable. the service is also great, waiters are always extremely attentive and kind. now the food, probably some of the best mexican food in the area! the quality and amount that you get, for the amount you pay is incredible! the horchata was so creamy and delicious, one of my favorite drinks ever. the enchilada was so full and absolutely covered in sauce, no skimping on sauce here like other places do! the quesadilla was so so tasty with a perfectly roasted tortilla. but the tamal was the main star, absolutely delicious and would highly recommend! this is a must if you're in the area!

Solid spot! Been looking forward to coming here and it was great! Service went smoothly, our waters were always filled and we had plenty of fresh chips, we were hardly waiting for anything! Food was tasty, lots of different options, something for everyone. Had a great time, looking forward to coming back

3.5 stars. Tepache is a local Mexican restaurant and bar. The menu lists a broad range of foods including starters (e.g., taquitos, quesadillas, elotes, and soups), salads, specialities (e.g., chicken, steak, and shrimp), enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, tacos, and desserts (e.g., churros, flan, and tres leches). Drinks include margaritas, cocktails, wines, etcetera. My husband and I ate one dinner here. Our waiter spoke very nicely with us, but we had a long wait of about 20 minutes to order. We started with complimentary tortilla chips (3.5 stars), which were hard and my husband described as "terrible" but I thought tasted good, with salsa. My appetizer was ceviche (4 stars), shrimp cured in lime, cilantro, red onion, and tomato and served with tostadas. My main course was a combo of Northern-style tamal (3.5 stars), which was a corn cake steamed in husks and stuffed with pulled chicken and salsa, and Southern-style tamal (3.5 stars), which was corn cake steam ed in banana leaves and stuffed with poblano pepper, corn, onion, queso, and crema. For sides I chose black beans (4.5 stars) and calabacitas (a mixture of zucchini, corn cheese, and more, 5 stars). My husband's main course was a steak fajita (3 stars), which he described as "tasteless." I took one bite of the steak, and I thought that it had some flavor but could have used more marinade or seasoning.

Really disappointed with my second visit and unlikely to visit again. We came in for Mother's Day dinner, and the main reason I had chosen Tepache was for a treat - a margarita. We didn't have a reservation, but there was only a 20 minute wait, and we were happy to head over to the bar for drinks. I ordered a house marg ($10) with spice. The bartender said I could order the jalapeño margarita ($16) if I wanted spicy. I declined and said the regular marg without spice would be fine. Nonetheless, she proceeds to ask the other bartender if he could make me a spicy house marg and he replies no, I have to order the jalapeño margarita. I thought it was strange she felt the need to ask another bartender, but again I said don't worry, the house marg is fine. That must have upset the bartenders because I was served a near-flavorless glass of watered down lime juice in a margarita glass. There was zero taste of tequila, and 10 minutes later I could confirm, there was no tequila in that drink. Unfortunately, when the hostess sat us for dinner, she seated us in the bar area so the bartender became our server. My husband asked the server/ bartender to make me another marg because we didn't think there was any tequila in the first one, but the server responded very awkwardly and said sorry with a shrug. That pretty much sealed the night for me. I didn't want another drink, and I regret staying for dinner. The server/bartender took our order but never came back to check on us or refill waters. Food was fine, nothing to miss. Place has great ambience, but that and the mediocre food don't overcome the weak drinks and bad service.

I really am torn about writing this review. I had never been to this restaurant before and was so excited when the opportunity to celebrate my friend's birthdays came about. What I realized during my visit there was how much a server can impact the ambiance and excitement of a visit. Our server was Daici and from the moment we walked in- the greeting to was lukewarm and that never changed. It was disappointing because we were so looking forward to visiting. However the manager was so incredibly nice and made up for our server's vibe. They even gave us a flight of tepache shots which were delicious. The food was very good as well. It was both of my fried's birthdays and so I brought cakes in secret that they stored in the back for me. In front of everyone, Daici asked if we were ready to sing happy birthday! Well there goes that surprise! I will update the review the next time I stop in because i think it deserves another shot for a five star rating.

Let me update my review now that I've visited several times over the last 3 years since they opened in 2023. Tepache is just solid. Good people, great food, comfortable and festive ambiance, easy parking, and strong drinks. 10/10 in my book! My parents live nearby and visit often, and take me each time we have the chance to while I am in town visiting. My dad and I went on this most recent visit on a freezing cold night. It was nice and warm inside and we were seated right away on the bar side. I love the new murals!! It is so bright and fun inside. Our server Emily was friendly and quick. We love the manager Gris! She is the best. Love chatting with her each time and she always makes sure we are taken care of. We both had house margs and I tried something new - the shrimp enchiladas. They were in a sweet red pepper sauce - different than the other Mexican food I am used to eating in Austin TX. It was so fresh and flavorful. Nice portion too - 4 enchiladas served with the best rice (seriously, why is it so good?? I don't know what's in it), and a big portion of a smokey corn salad. My dad got his favorite - arroz con pollo. Chips and salsa are complimentary and the salsa is so good! We usually get tableside guac, but since it was just the 2 of us this time we decided to skip it. Other favorites are the skinny marg sub mezcal, the actual tepache itself, fresh salads, fish tacos, and the other enchilada specials throughout the year. I think we are always too full for dessert, but next time will give it a try. Great local business!

One of the best Mexican restaurants in Pittsburgh. Great cocktails and delicious food. 4.5/5 on food. 4/5 service. Ambiance is pretty, love the murals and bar.

My friends and I went here for national margarita day, when we got there I asked if we could have a booth, the host checked with his manager in Spanish right in front of us and still sat us at a table. When I asked if the booths were reserved because I saw a few open he checked again then proceeded to give us the booth we originally asked for. It was busy as expected but we did not have to wait which was nice. We started with a blackberry margarita pitcher it was delicious and worth the $45 price tag because the three of us each got three margs out of it! The server was nice but may have been new because he did not check on us as often as other waiters did and we saw people come in after us and leave before us. I ordered the choripollo and it was really good but it wasn't that hot. My friend got the steak and shrimp dish but the waiter did not ask her preference on temp so it was dry especially for it to be a ribeye. The third dish was a chicken burrito that was supposed to be without beans but my friend didn't mind the beans and ate around them. All in all I would try it again but on a slower day where more attention to detail could paid

This is in the Fox Chapel area, in the old atria's. Lovely atmosphere, lighting could be a little bit brighter during the day. Went for brunch with friends. Never expected the flight of mimosas to be such a large serving! And wonderful. Menu choices were limited, but we're so glad what we picked! We will go again

Server with the cool hair was really nice and attentative, explained bunch of the menu. Love the drinks menu, food was ok.

We sat outside and it was a lovely atmosphere. The service was also very good and respectful. The food was very fresh and vibrant in color. I liked the ceviche in particular, plus it was a huge portion. I would definitely come back!

Fajita Quesadilla

I got the fajita quesadilla it was delicious. The taquitos were also so good! The menu had so many good things, I have to go back and try more. I didn't try any of the margaritas so that is a must next time. The staff was so nice. And the restaurant is big with a nice bar.

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The drinks are definitely crafted with care and have a lot of complexity, but with only two bartenders working, it took quite a while to get ours. They're good, but at that price I can really only justify having one. Note: They do not have food, just snacks like peanuts. Whether you're looking to get work done with a coffee, wind down with a beer, or let your pup burn off some energy, this is the spot. I stopped in and tried their maple vanilla latte, which was super cozy and comforting--perfectly balanced and not too sweet. I also had a warm muffin that was absolutely delightful. The drinks are crafted with Commonplace Coffee, and there's a rotating selection of prepackaged sandwiches, salads, and baked goods through Catapult Culinary available all day. The space itself is bright, modern, and immaculately clean. You can sit inside or out on the dog-friendly patio, where pups can roam while you relax. Dogs do need to be registered at the front check-in station and must be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and at least 4 months old. Hound Haus offers daily, monthly, and annual passes--but you don't need to bring a dog to enjoy the vibe. It's a welcoming place for anyone to sip, snack, and socialize (furry friends optional). The owner is incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about creating a space that's both functional and fun. Whether you're a dog owner or just a dog lover, Hound Haus is worth a visit.
