Seasoned wings
Keirstin C.

I came in on a football Sunday looking to sit eight people the place isnt that big and it was kinda busy. The waitress was really nice and said one table was leaving soon and she put some tables together for my large group. She was pretty attentive for serving almost the whole bar alone. My mom and I split the burger and mesquite butter wings I think they could've been a little more saucy, I didn't mention anything, but I'm sure she would've brought me more. If I asked. I heard a lot of good things about the ranch and it was good once I really really tasted it. I didn't find it that flavorful off the top but once I really tasted it, it did have good flavor. Maybe this was a fresh batch that needed to sit. My dad got the buffalo chicken eggrolls. They were good, but we didn't realize it would just be chicken dip in the eggroll wrapper We were expecting shredded chicken with hot sauce and cheese or something similar. I came to celebrate my granddad's birthday just to try something new and he generally likes bar food. He enjoyed it as we sang happy birthday to him. The other patrons and the waitstaff also joined in and someone even offered to buy him a drink. this is a really nice bar if you're looking for good food , good vibes and nice people.

Stopped in for dinner on a weeknight. The onion rings were a great choice for appetizer. Had the original steamer for dinner. It was fine, not my favorite burger ever but it was tasty with the Blaw sauce. Chips were good . Service was mostly good, though our waters weren't refilled. Basic pub atmosphere.

Buffalo Mac & Cheese

The food was soooooo good and the service was quick! came in during my break and thought it would take a while but i was wrong. The food was fast and the service was top tier. I also enjoyed the environment and the relaxing yet familial energy. The workers make you feel very welcomed which I liked a lot. I ordered the buffalo mac and cheese and it physically changed the way i think. This was the best mac and cheese i've ever had i talked about it for weeks. 10/10. My friend ordered the chicken parm with the chips and it was just as great. Definitely would recommend

Great wing spot! Your classic dive bar vibe with great bar food. Loved all the wings- especially the butter mesquite, the spicy garlic ranch, and the dry joobie. Do not skip getting one of their eggrolls!! I loved the buff chicken one- we tried the big mac one as well. Bartender was friendly, kind, and attentive. Space was clean, not busy, and plenty of room to relax and unwind with drinks & food after a long day

Nashville hot wings

Stopped by for wing night and had a great first experience! Ordered the Nashville hot wings that came with pickles on top and the seasonal special which was advertised as a bourbon bacon apple jam...ate more like a Thai glaze though which was still solid. I need to go back bc I found out after that they will add ghost pepper powder to add heat which is right up my alley. The steamed burgers sound super interesting as well! The bartenders were awesome as well...super friendly and attentive!

Wanted to check out a local spot in Pittsburgh so Nox's Tavern came across on Yelp! This is the quintessential neighborhood tavern, every bar seat was taken and place had bodies at every table, always a good sign. They have street parking on the side for those unfamiliar with their surroundings. My wife and I sat down and had to order their award winning wings of course. Our flavor were the Garlic Butter and the Dry Cajun. Wings came out and looked good, about 6 to a basket and good size. The Garlic Butter was good, but just not my jam, good blend but looked very wet, not always a bad thing I just preferred the Dry Cajun instead, great flavor and crunch. We also ordered the steamed cheeseburger to split with the house made chips of course, came with the homemade Nox sauce, hard to describe but trust me get it and dip the chips in there, great combo! The cheeseburger itself was delicious, perfect medium rare and everything you'd expect from a steamed burger. No shortage of options from this place, they have about 30 different sauce flavors and all your other tavern goodies, could definitely see why this is a popular spot.

Nox 's Steak Nachos

Now this is a hole in the wall find! Completely walked past the entrance for it, hidden in plain sight. Classic dive bar with some good ole bar food! Steak nachos were phenomenal- perfectly cooked steak and bomb cheese sauce. Only qualm is the tale as old as time, not enough toppings for each chip. Wings were great, crispy and quality sauces. Lots of choices to choose from. Burgers and fries were also spot on! It was packed tight for a Saturday night, but the servers were attentive and so nice. If you're looking for a good dive bar, this is a top spot!

Boy am I mad that I've lived around this area for 25 years and have never tried Nox's until two days ago! Big regret.. but now that I've finally been able to it might just be my new favorite!! Easily the best onion rings I've ever had. So crispy and the salt on top was perfect. The cheesesteak was also one of the best I've had! No stringy meat, no fat pieces and plenty of cheese on an amazing hoagie bun. Plus all of the ladies working were so sweet! I work right in RIDC and this is a new staple to my lunch schedule. Thanks for existing, Nox's

There wasn't a lot of information about this restaurant online, so I decided to go check this out…read morefor myself and get some information going here. The restaurant is on the main drag at Freeport Road, but it's a little hard to spot due to various trees being in the way. This is more of a bar than a restaurant. They have counter seats, a couple of elevated seats and a few regular seats. The place is very clean and the waitress was very nice. The restaurant does not have paper menus, just a menu written on a chalkboard on the wall. It's not a major issue, but they need to get menu's. The restaurant also does not have silverware ready at your table for you. That also needs to be fixed as while most of their foods are items you pick up with your hand, sometimes forks and knives are needed. The prices are reasonable and you can get two apps and two meals for under $50. The main draw of this place is the chicken wings. They are one of the few places in Pittsburgh with full-sized wings with both the leg and the flat part together. The wings are breaded and are good enough to eat without even putting sauce on them though they give you a box with 8 different sauces to choose from. You can get 6 of them (which is 12 wings elsewhere) or a full dozen (which is 24 wings elsewhere). 6 wings for $12 and $12 for 22. They have wing night on Wednesdays, and the price drops to 75 cents a wing which is very cheap these days. We also ordered burgers, fries and onion rings. The burgers were good. They give you a nice big piece of meat on them and the bacon was good. The fries were okay and the onion rings were very heavy on the onion part of it. The pretzel was a standard pretzel but the cheese for it had either an alcohol or possible honey flavoring to it. The restaurant also does offer happy hour where the apps are half off which makes a big difference. Finally, the restaurant has a lottery machine, darts, a slot machine and some table board games. Overall, I liked the place and would return.

Great place to get good priced drinks and amazing deep fried full chicken wings. The wings come…read morewith an array of sauces that are all amazing. Great bartenders too!

My default when I don't feel like being disappointed…read more @thepubat333 is that easy "let's just go to..." and no one argues it because it just...works. There's enough going on menu-wise that everyone figures it out, and I'm not exaggerating-every single time I've been there since they opened, someone at the table orders a French dip. Every. time. It's basically part of the experience now. Also if I see pierogi, I'm ordering pierogi. That's just who I am. Could've taken down the entire plate without blinking but I shared like a respectable adult (meanwhile mentally tracking which ones were supposed to be mine). It's just a laid back, neighborhood spot that doesn't try to be anything crazy and still ends up being exactly what you wanted. Fun fact: my friend and I once prank called from their landline, the owner immediately called back, we answered like nothing happened, and yeah...the phone was no longer an option for us after that

Sat at the bar for some food and drinks, which turned out to be amazing and so flavorful. We came…read moreon a Saturday night, and it was pretty packed. Bar seating was almost full with only a couple seats. Heard good things about their pizza too. There's free parking in the lot (although small). Shout out to our bartender Ange! The black and bleu shrimp was absolutely amazing. It's got blackened spice and has this creamy sauce that makes you go dip for more (I need that recipe honestly). If I had some bread, I'd definitely use this as a dip lol. We got the thin crust Sicilian pizza to share. The pizza unfortunately was very wet and kind of soggy. I think they could have waited to let it rest for a few min before serving because it would especially show when we were separate the slices and try to take one off the plate. I don't usually want my toppings and cheese to just slide off the pizza. Also since we were at a bar w/ some of the games going on, we wanted wings and got their crispy whole wings in a dry spice rub. They were pretty big wings and well seasoned -- not too spicy though if that's not your vibe.

4.5 stars. Off the Rails Barbeque and Drafthouse is a local, family-owned and -operated restaurant…read morethat serves barbecued meats, sides, sandwiches, alcoholic beverages, and more for lunch, dinner, and catering for dining in, pickup, and delivery. Their website says that they use ingredients from local farms and suppliers and make their foods fresh daily. Outside the restaurant are the smokers that they use to slow-cook the meats. The brisket and pork are said to be smoked for 12-14 hours. My husband and I ate at this restaurant years ago, but for some reason my previous review is not here. We liked Off the Rails then and still like it. Most recently, we ordered the BBQ Sampler Platter, which consisted of a 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of pulled pork, 1/2 pound of pulled chicken, 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs, and choice of three sides. I rate the flavors of each of these meats at 5 stars and the flavors of the mac-n-cheese, baked beans, and crispy Brussels sprouts as 4.5 stars each. The pulled pork and pulled chicken came with three bread buns to make sandwiches. I saw three house-made sauces--Carolina Gold, Kansas City, and Lexington-style Mop--and they tasted very good. The ribs were not pull-off-the-bone, but they were probably the first batch of the day. We had arrived 40 minutes after their opening time. An employee had tried to get us to substitute the ribs with another meat, but we instead decided to wait about 20 minutes for the ribs to be done. We also ordered Smoked Fried Wings, which have many available dry rubs and sauces, but we got the house seasoning with no sauce. An employee said a chupacabra rub. These wings tasted fantastic and were the best food of our meal. We LOVED their crispy and delightfully seasoned skin and their juicy insides. I do not have a receipt, but the total price for our foods and one soda should have been just under $100 plus a tip. We had leftovers and put those in large and small plastic containers that I had brought from home. (Other reviewers said that customers are not allowed to take home leftovers, but we went on a day with no special prices, and we had enough leftovers for two more meals at home!) We loved the wings so much that on "wing night" a few days later, we returned for the wings and some other sides. On Wednesdays the restaurant charges only $1 per wing. We ordered the allowed maximum of 6 wings, which we again LOVED, as well as spicy collard greens (4 stars), coleslaw (with little dressing, 3.5 stars), and cornbread (4.5 stars). Note that live music is played on certain days of the week.

This is a very efficient way to run a roadside barbecue. Orders can be placed from your table by QR…read morereader or at register with the friendly staff. Food and drinks are ready in just a few minutes and the dining area is ample with clean tables and clean floors. An upgrade of plastic utensils would be appreciated however. The chili was especially good as was the pork BBQ sandwich. Prices were reasonable to add to the experience. Parking can be a problem but there is some to be found on the other side of the street but lacks a crosswalk so be very careful.
