Hal's has some truly great bar food, and I hesitate to just call it bar food because their menu has SO many interesting options. My husband and I stopped in for a late-ish dinner a few weekends ago for the first time. We were pleased to see how busy it was, and we were seated very quickly. The space is somewhat bifurcated into a dining area and a bar area, but it's still one cohesive room, so it does get a bit loud (we did not mind!) during your meal. I tried the smoked turkey burnt ends panini, which was exceptionally tasty. The smoked feta and the smokey turkey pieces were so delicious, and the pickles were a great compliment. I also enjoyed the sweet potato fries quite a lot! My husband said the wings were great, and I would consider him to be a wing expert. All of our food came out very quickly, despite it being so busy! It was a really fun ambiance and had great energy, and our server was so friendly throughout our meal. We were too full to try dessert, but I want to return to try other menu items and a sweet treat. What a gem of a local spot!

Stopped into Hal's with family and had a nice experience overall! It was pretty busy when we arrived, and they had the Pirates game on TV, which added to the lively atmosphere. We were seated fairly quickly despite the crowd. Our waitress was friendly, maybe a little rushed, but nothing too bad. I went with the Italian sub and tater tots. Nothing fancy, just your classic sub, but it definitely hit the spot. My husband tried the wings and was a big fan. Solid place for a casual bite and catching a game. Would come back!

Wing Wednesday

I went here fully expecting slightly above average wings and that's exactly what I got. It's exactly what you would expect from a local sports bar. If I drank and ate like a dickhead everyday, I would totally come here at least once a week We sat outside since it was nice. Seating was good, inside was packed but tons of seating The French onion soup was actually pretty fucking awesome. Packed full of onions, bread and loaded with cheese. PLUS it was cooked in a ramekin which all French onion should be. Tater tots ass, just a frozen bag from the store. The wings, two positives about these. One, the chicken itself was meaty. Two, fried SUPER well. A bonus, they were $1 a wing for wing night. Negative here is that the sauces were pretty subpar. The spicy park tasted like a bottle of Frank's and the Fiery Raspberry gave me spicy BBQ. Not a BBQ guy with wings either. I am told their black and gold is solid though. Bad sauce on a good wing is like having sex with a condom. That layer is covering the full potential of something great. Either way you're still gonna eat because you're horny I would actually come back in the future IF I want wings on a Wednesday and didn't want to drive more than 10min. I would also only get dry rub wings and apps.

Sat at the bar and had lunch here on a Saturday. Food was really good & the nachos grande came out so fast! Great service, great vibes. Would definitely come back again!

I went here for my sons birthday. my son choose the location for the meal. We got there and where seated immediately. The person who sat us was very nice and friendly. I ordered a hamburger with fries and a french onion soup. The food was good not the best but very good What set this place apart from other places at least for me was the service. The gal who served us was amazing. She was super helpful super friendly and very attentive. She came back at least 5-6 times maybe more checking to see if we needed anything and that everything was ok. I have to say this was among the best service I have ever received at any restaurant anywhere. I would definitely go back again and I would highly recommend this Hal's Bar and Grill. I give the food a solid 3 stars but the service was actually 5 stars for sure overall I give them 4 stars.

Why start taking photos when the food arrives? Mushroom brie bisque and Caesar salad were a hit! Staff was great! Very attentive and food arrived quickly and it was very good. The restaurant is a little loud but lots of fun!

Second time here. One of the few places open after 10 pm. on a Friday night in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Large menu with decent bar food, rotating beers on tap. The place was packed & very loud. Servers were hopping & very attentive to all their customers. Even though the bar & restaurant area was crowded, it was very clean & they turned over their tables quickly, without rushing any of their customers out the door. Plan to go back in warmer weather for their patio seating.

The short rib grilled cheese was absolutely amazing. It was packed with tender meat.

Hadn't been back in a few years. Went last night for a friend's birthday dinner. We had a great time. My birthday friend started out with the pierogis. I don't eat them but my friends loved them and they looked good. I had the short rib grilled cheese, which was scrumptious. It was so meaty and tender. Loved it and will be dreaming about it. The French fries were very good. My birthday friend had the cod sandwich and fries which she really enjoyed. It looked really crispy and was quite large. My other friend really enjoyed her chicken salad. It came in a big bowl. They seemed to be a bit short staffed. Took a while to get drinks and food.

Nachos Grande

First time visiting Hal's since my brother just moved to the area. Place is big with a nice outdoor patio and indoor bar area. Would be great to watch a game here. We were sat in their dining area in a booth. We ordered the nacho grande to kick things off and they did not disappoint, definitely fed between 3-4 people. For my entree I ordered the Italian hoagie and it was very good, the bun was toasted and I could tell the lettuce and onion were fresh. My brother got their wings and they looked very good. Fries and ranch also very good. Our service was kind of hit and miss. We were sat and 45 mins went by and no one came by to check on us lol. But after that it was all good and no issues the rest of the night. Definitely will stop back here soon.

Second martini up at my table when I came back on from outside couch area.

Service was amazing considering how busy it was. Harley, our server, had to make my martinis.. and she nailed it. Wings were crispy, burger very well seasoned (which I find is rare when ordering a burger), chilled water in a large glass bottle were "up" without needing to specifically ask. It was packed, but the service felt like we were the only patrons here. I had a bad experience 10 years ago, and just came back recently. Very glad I did!

The service was good. They have a big selection of beer. But the food was not good. I got a chipotle turkey club and it tasted like chemicals. The sweet potato fries were good but very average.

Stuffed Gnocchi with short ribs

Excellent dish - Definitely try the stuffed gnocchi with short ribs! This entree is worthy of a fancy Italian restaurant.

When I think of a Reuben I think of the ones in grew up loving from the jewish delis in jersey which are packed to the brim. Also on BreadWorks which is always an elite choice The burger. Now that was a pleasant surprise. Cooked well, sauce was good and the pastrami was above average. But "topped" with pastrami means 3-4 pieces it seems Habanero mayo I used for dipping fucking awesome. Sweet potato fries also awesome I wasn't disappointed in this because it's less than a 10min drive for me. I would not drive 15+ minutes for this. Nothing will blow your mind but nothing will disappoint. Just a very slightly above average meal that if you're local to the area will be a good spot Inside I really liked as well. Little dark, good bar area and TVs playing the games with decent amount of seating

We went on a Tuesday, and it was $1 wing night... can honestly say, one of the best spots I have had wings in a long time- wings were cooked to a crisp perfection and the flavor was great. Lots of people in the bar who know each other but were open to conversation with us newbies. They do have happy hour, and TVs would be a good spot to grab a cold one and watch the game!
