We went on Thursday night, which was Long Island iced tea night and they were made to perfection.

It took them over a year to renovate it and they still aren't done in the back and the parking lot is a little rutted but the inside is very nicely done. There is a huge bar and some high and low tables scattered throughout. The clientele is mostly locals and lot of laborers grabbing a drink and a bite to eat after working hard all day which was great to see. It's super casual and very open inside. We had a few beers and the bartender was good. She was attentive and was waiting on 20 folks at the bar as well as table drinks. The manager was able to help serve some food to help her out but never once asked us how everything was. That was a little bit of a missed opportunity in my opinion for a new business. We ordered a breakfast burger that came with some hashbrowns on the side. I assumed, which is my fault totally, that the burger would come with lettuce, tomato, etc. but it truly was JUST a burger, egg, and cheese and absolutely no other toppings. That was disappointing and I really wish the bartender would have asked if I wanted anything on it. I ended up using ketchup for moisture since she was so busy and I was hungry. :) The hashbrowns were frozen and fried so they were nothing special. I think this place has tremendous potential. We'll be back to try something else. It seems busy so that's a good sign.

What a really good surprise! A little neighborhood bar that was recently given a totally new…read morefacelift and looks super inside. Great sports watching venue, with wall to wall TV screens all over. Clean, shiny, and with some fun sports games too (i. e. golf video, darts, etc). The menu offers lots of ol local favorites and some with a nice twist (i. e. pulled pork sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, salads, Chipped ham Sammy, etc). Had the Isleys chipped ham sandwich which they serve warm with melted cheddar, grilled onions on a bun. However, they were gracious enough to make it for me cold, with Mayonnaise and a slice of cheese. This is unlike another place down the road (RI) from them that wouldn't adjust items on a sandwich for me last week. The waiter/bartender was super chill too, easy to talk to and basically good at his job. Our refills came quickly and without asking. He followed up to see what we wanted a couple times and the food arrived in a reasonable time (not much waiting at all). This was so very different from that same day where at our usually spot (another old bar/restaurant further down the road, "SJ") we had to walk out just after ordering lunch due to getting attitude from a mouthy waitress. Glad we decided to try this new spot! Great job! I think we found our new local "go to" bar/restaurant. Looking forward to it and to soon trying breakfast there on weekends too. A must try f you haven't been there yet.

City Works Pittsburgh -- Sports, Salmon & Sinfully Good Cheese Curds…read moreVisited: Wednesday, July 29, 2026 4.5/5 Seven hungry road-weary hooligans rolled into City Works Pittsburgh around 6 p.m. on a Wednesday looking for three basic human necessities: food, alcohol and enough televisions to ensure nobody was ever forced into sustained eye contact. Mission accomplished. The place has a modern, spacious, casually polished feel--comfortable without being stuffy, energetic without sounding like someone dropped a silverware drawer down a flight of stairs. There are TVs seemingly everywhere, which makes City Works an excellent headquarters for sports fans, large groups, wandering degenerates, or seven friends who simply need a civilized staging area before whatever questionable decisions occur later in the evening. We initially sat in a booth before realizing that seven grown adults plus drinks, menus, appetizers and our collective egos required substantially more acreage. Our server--a very cute, friendly young lady--handled our relocation request without even the faintest visible urge to poison us. She was attentive, pleasant and took excellent care of the table throughout dinner. Food-wise, City Works did exactly what I wanted it to do. My main dish was the blackened grilled salmon salad, and this thing was no sad little punishment salad designed for somebody who lost a bet. It was a substantial bowl of greens, vegetables, egg, cheese and a beautifully seasoned piece of salmon on top. Fresh, filling, colorful and flavorful enough that I could temporarily pretend I was making responsible nutritional decisions. Then we ordered the fried stuff. The fried pickles were superb--crispy, salty, tangy little discs of comfort-food righteousness begging to be dragged through dipping sauce. And the deep-fried cheese curds? Dear God. Warm little golden nuggets of dairy sin. Crispy outside, molten cheesy joy inside. Somewhere a cardiologist felt a mysterious disturbance in the Force, and I regret absolutely nothing. The wings circulating around the table looked properly sauced and substantial as well, and there was enough food flying around that our table began looking less like dinner and more like negotiations at the United Nations of Cholesterol. What I especially liked about City Works was the balance. It's social and lively but not obnoxiously loud. You can watch a game, drink a beer, eat something substantial and actually hear the human sitting across from you without communicating through semaphore. For a group gathering, I think this place absolutely nails it: plenty of room, relaxed atmosphere, lots of TVs, good drinks, genuinely enjoyable food and service that comfortably handled seven traveling idiots changing tables and descending upon appetizers like raccoons behind a Wisconsin supper club. Strong recommendation. City Works was exactly what we needed that evening--a comfortable Pittsburgh gathering spot where the salmon lets you pretend you're healthy and the cheese curds immediately expose you as a liar.

The vibe on the inside is really nice, and the location is great. We always enjoy their food and drinks from the bar. The wait can be long, but the staff is friendly and attentive.
