Thought we would try it out. It was practically empty but felt quite unwelcoming in a Trump-y way. Also felt grimy. Yech!

Best gourmet grilled cheese sandwich ever, I highly recommend putting pickles and tomatoes on it.

Fresh made. Individually crafted. Outrageously delicious…read more This sandwich shop is already on the map, but it is going to be a hallmark of the North Side for years to come! Ida's Sandwich Shop gives all the feels of fresh ingredients and handcrafted food. You know a place is good when people are waiting patiently for their food but with big smiles all around. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the shop was full. The owner warmly greeted us and let us know that it would be about a 40 minute wait! In a world of fast food and rushing, it was fine to sit and talk... so we placed an order. We got the Pittsburgh Chopped Cheese, the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich, and a side of Fries. Sitting and waiting proved to be one of the highlights of the experience, the owner while maintaining orders and checking on the cook in the back.. truly cares about the customers. From wiping down tables between guests, to sharing stories with guests about their first visits, to giving expert guidance on Pittsburgh culture.. she made it fun to just sit and be together. The food came out in the order of the orders and WOW IT WAS WORTH IT! The roll and bun were so buttery and crispy that I can't believe every sandwich shop doesn't study it. The chopped cheese was a harmony of perfectly seared peppers and onions with a perfect amount of meat and cheese. The chicken was a tender cutlet with a thin layer of perfect fried crisp and the bacon was high quality crisp, but the provolone was dripping and oozing like a decadent blitz on this sandwich. The fries.. first off... for a side... WOW... these shoestrings filled the container, my tummy, and my heart! Herby seasoning and fresh fresh fresh! The craziest part... the prices are so reasonable! For the love and care put into this food, I'm more than willing to triple my tip next time! Go somewhere where they care about the food, they care about the details, and they care about YOU!

THIS PLACE REALLY THREATENED TO SEND THE POLICE TO MY HOME!!!!!!!!!…read more First of all, WHY do i have to give all my info for pricing?? A extra large one topping pizza for delivery should be a set price, why do you need my address to give me this info??? But the real reason for this review is.... My son and his friends tried to order a pizza from here however didn't have enough on their Cashapp card so the card was declined.... Kids being kids, took a little extra effort to properly load the card with the funds, but by this time the folks at the restaurant thought they were playing and said they couldn't order.... The kids bring the issue to me, then i call to try to place the order..... i told the people at the restaurant That my teen boys were tryna order pizza, they're goofy etc and it's not a joke ....... The lady that i was talking to initially had a normal annoyance that anyone would have after dealing with goofy teens, but then she puts this weirdo dude on the phone who then threatens me saying he's gonna call the police to my house if the card declines again!?!?!? UMMMMMMM EXCUSE ME??? At what point do you call the police on someone for not having enough money to pay for something WHILE ordering?? Talking about some credit card fraud?!!!????? (GTFOH!!!) YOU CLEARLY HAVE NO CONCEPTUAL INTELLIGENCE OF BUSINESS ETIQUETTE!! A declined transaction doesn't deem credit fraud....that an astoundingly ignorant statement!!! We ended up ordering from the pizzeria up the street because i don't think anyone in their right mind would place an order for food from somewhere that threatens them!! My household, nor 4 other homes in the area will never patronage this establishment again!!!! The food is TRASH anyway!!! not even worth the threats!!!

Legit bad service, sub par food, and greedy owner.

I had been there several years ago with the same friend for a hangover curing breakfast of biscuits and Italian sausage gravy, and I remembered how good that was. This time I went to try their house beers, and I was again very happy. The Brewery is a cozy little place tucked in a side street, and the interior is worn but clean and comfortable. The staff are super friendly and efficient, but I should note that it wasn't very busy at the time. In any event, our excellent beers never ran dry, and when we were ready to eat the service was quick. We started with some pickle dip (yum!). My buddy then ordered the black and blue burger - one of his favorites. It's actually a triple patty deal with some hot sausage in the mix. It was messy as hell, but he really enjoyed it. I went with the Buffalo mac-n-cheese. It was very tasty and had a nice kick from the spicy Buffalo chicken. Overall it was a nice experience, and I'll definitely be back. One word of caution though: The Brewery is moving across the street into the old post office building. I'm not sure exactly when this is planned, but I hear it will be soon. The new building is being gutted and refit with everything needed, and will include an outdoor area that can accommodate live music. I'm really happy that they are doing well enough to grow, and can't wait to check out the new place when it opens.

We saw several staff members during that time, which made it a bit confusing...we weren't sure if we were in the wrong section or if there was a different process we should have followed. Sadly, we did not have a chance to try anything. We ended up leaving without being served. I understand that things can get busy, but even a quick acknowledgment would have made a difference. Just sharing this in hopes it helps improve the experience for future customers.
