Our server was friendly and thorough throughout the time we were there, and he did a great job ensuring certain things came out allergen friendly! This restaurant offers bar seating and a decent amount of tables within the restaurant. I ordered a burger and it was delicious! So Mother's Day they're offering a brunch. Last year's was fantastic. This year they are asking you to pay ahead of time. But it's not unfundable. So what happens if there's a car accident? If there's traffic and you can't make it and you did leave enough time? What if somebody got sick and everybody has to cancel? What if the worst happens? So my day that we honor our mothers, if any of the above happen, you're out of more than $100 if there's 3 (approximately) of you? What if you're less one or two people? Are they charged? We recently had lunch at the North Park Clubhouse in McCandless, PA, and overall it was a very nice experience. The parking lot easily accommodates a lot of cars, which is always a plus, and we were seated very quickly. The ambiance was like a local bar/ restaurant. I enjoyed lunch with great company--my husband and granddaughter--and the service was excellent. A special thank-you to Su (as printed on the receipt) for taking such good care of us. Just a heads-up: there is a 3.5% charge for using a credit card. Food-wise, my granddaughter ordered a plain hamburger and my husband had the Black and Blue burger. Both were cooked to a perfect medium, and they both said their burgers were excellent. They also offer gluten free buns. I had the French onion soup. It was good, but it lacked that deep, rich beefy flavor I usually expect, and it wasn't served very hot. Even so, I would definitely return--especially to try one of their hamburgers next time. There is a-lot of parking which is nice and the entire vibe was amazing but man every room was completely packed. The folks seriously love to drink in this area as many were tuned at 730ish. Lol. The service was amazing at the bar and the taps are numerous. The fresh chips were ehh and so many crumbs which I was disappointed with. We made reservations weeks ago for the Santa Brunch and were so excited to take the kids to see Santa, as well as all of the amazingly decorated rooms! We live about an hour away, so were really looking forward to this special brunch (that was $30 for adults and $20 for kids, so not cheap) and had planned to make a whole day of it in the area. Unfortunately, south of city got over 6" of snow, and we couldn't even get out of our driveway to attempt to make it to our reservation. We called immediately upon their opening to see if there was anything they could do but were greeted very coldly with a "no refunds". Totally understand when we made the reservation that it was non-refundable, but you'd think in a circumstance like this there could be some accommodation of either allowing a rescheduled reservation, a partial refund, or even a small gift card to be used to come another time. Any small gesture or kindness would have gone a long way. Sadly, the "holiday spirit" only goes as far as the decorations here. read more

This is the first time I visited this establishment in over a year. I used to visit weekly (if not more during NFL season (live real close, talking 3 times a week)). Take a look at my previous reviews going back a decade+ on this restaurant. Look at my check-in's here - they are over 100. I'm not a random customer. Here is why I no longer visit: When I think of NPL, I think of Frankenstein in need of ADHD medication. I'm not kidding. This is the Frankenstein of restaurants. Do they want to be a drive through, bar restaurant, outside restaurant, place to watch a game? What the heck is going on here? The dining area is a weird entry through plastic doors with barely painted/scratched plyboard on the side denoting the outside area. It looks awful. The central dining room is much in need of renovation as the booths and tables are in need of repair. They cut off half the bar area for other business purposes. The bar area feels very claustrophobic. I would never watch a game here in its current format. More than anything, I'm just sad about this place. I'm sad because I miss the way it used to be. I'm sad that I went here tonight instead of somewhere else. Food was fine, service was acceptable; I'd just rather go to a restaurant with a vision outside of trying to capitalize on everything possible. To the business: Y'all need to get a grip here, and figure out where you want to excel. Currently, your business is a straight "no go" for me. read more

I grew up on NPL, as a teenager this is the establishment where I fell in love with wings. Fast forward 35 years and they're the worst wings in the North Hills. Each wing is breaded so thick you can't even find the meat underneath, mushy instead of crispy. Just totally unappetizing. We went there for our end of the school year party on a Friday- with the back patio room reserved for about 20 people,The server did NOT seem excited to have us show up, and reminded us multiple times that we would need to be out at 530; which would have been plenty of time since we were there at 3pm. We had appetizers and had to remind him to give us plates and silverware, we also had to ask for napkins. I also was asked 3 times what I was drinking- a Diet Coke or pepsi. A large food menu with something for everyone, delicious cocktails and cold beer- what more could you ask for!!! Recently opened for breakfast seven days a week- would love to check it out! 3.5 stars overall. I believe that North Park Lounge opened a few decades ago, but I did not become a customer of theirs until this weekend. The business is a restaurant and bar that has both indoor and outdoor seating. At 5 PM on a Friday, the large parking lot was full of vehicles, but I convinced my husband to see if any tables were available. My husband and I are not "bar people," but as soon as we entered the business, the smiling employees (and the mostly retired-aged customers!) made us feel comfortable. Some tables were still available, and a seating hostess immediately seated us at a table. Soon after, our waitress arrived to give us menus. Our waitress was prompt also with taking our order and bringing out our beverages and foods. When my husband's glass of tea was empty, the waitress noticed and brought him a refill. Here are my reviews for our foods: Garlic rolls - 5 stars - These garlic rolls were some of the tastiest rolls that we have ever eaten! Three rolls were baked perfectly so they had a moist center and crisp crust, and they were topped with flavorful garlic, olive oil, and parmesan cheese. Crab cakes - 4.5 stars - These crab cakes were MEATY! House salad - 3.5 stars - This salad was basic and contained fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, cheese, croutons, and my choice of dressing. Fruit - ? stars - When I had placed my order, I said "fruit" out loud, and I pointed to the word "fruit" on my menu. Unfortunately, the waitress must have heard "fries," because she instead brought out French fries... French fries - 5 stars - The fruit would have been healthier, but in my husband's words, these French fries were "the best fries that I've had in a long time!" The fries were fried just right. Bacon-egg cheeseburger - 3 stars - My husband ate this burger, and he described it as "overcooked." Onion rings - 3 stars - My husband described these onion rings as "too bready." At the end of the meal, my husband commented that the total price was too high for the quality of the food. I reminded him that I had ordered the crab cakes. She had brown hair and spent most of her time chatting with one customer, completely ignoring everyone else at the bar. When my friend politely asked for our check, she was met with rudeness. After waiting several more minutes with no response, my mom approached to let her know we were ready to leave--only to receive a nasty look, which she then directed at my friend and me as well. It's one thing to be busy, but it's another to be blatantly disrespectful and unprofessional. Bartenders should be welcoming, attentive, and courteous, not rude and dismissive. While I was there I also discovered that they offer plant based egg scramble, which is great for my allergy friends. I've been here twice. Once for lunch and once to hang out at the bar. This place appears to be managed very well and prices are fair. The food, however was pretty average. The fish was ok but, needed salt. The bar scene was pathetic. There are extremely bright lights over the bar. This is not conducive to drinking and socializing. You bought North Park Clubhouse, and in doing so, you took away my beloved Cajun Chicken Pasta--a dish that was, frankly, perfection. And for what? Some generic, uninspired menu that nobody asked for? Do you understand what you've done? That pasta was a staple. A masterpiece. A reason to go out of my way to eat at the Clubhouse. Now it's gone, and I'm left staring at a menu that feels like a bland, soulless downgrade. You had a chance to take over a great spot and honor what made it special. Instead, you erased one of the best dishes to ever grace a Pittsburgh restaurant. For that, I can't forgive you. Fix this. Bring it back. Do the right thing. Service was great. Food was okay, not great though. I can't help but to complain about the absurd wing prices. The wing there are not great, but it hard for me to find wings I do not like. I was hoping to have some with my dinner. I looked at the menu and saw that they were $12.50 for 5, seemed a little high but they must be full wings, right? The menu did not specify When i asked our waitress she said they are wing sections, not full wings. At $2.50 per a wing section i was rather offended that they would try to rip us off. The food and staff rank 5 stars. Everytime we come the restaurant and bar area are packed. Even so, the wait staff are very efficient and friendly and the kitchen gets your food out very quickly. When the weather permits, they have an enclosed patio. Unfortunately, they are not handicapped accessible. There is an outside ramp to get from the parking lot, but once you're in the inner vestibule that's it. If you require a walker or wheelchair, you cannot enter the dining area. If it's nice out and you don't mind, you can probably access the patio as it is much roomier, but they have so many tables packed in the dining area that it can be difficult for an able bodied person to navigate their way to a table. I hope to get a photo to demonstrate this the next time we go. read more

I grew up in the N Hills so I've watched the original North Park Lounge grow from a local bar/restaurant that was popular with golfers and walkers looking for a cold beer and sandwich after their day at the nearby park into the mega location behemoth it is today. This was the original location and while they added on the lovely outdoor porch and bigger dining area, not much has changed. They are still serving up Americana food with ice cold brews and have added some more modern takes on drink and food. We ordered up a burger, some buffalo chicken skewers and onion rings. Everything was prepared well and hit the spot after a day of walking and hiking at the park. It was super crowded as it always is on weekends. One thing we are sad they took off the menu was their super yummy pepperoni rolls. Shameless plug to bring that back. read more

NPL was totally fine in a very "all American, neighborhood bar" type of way. Nothing really stood out to us, but also nothing was wrong. The Buffalo chicken salad was good, but I requested to add fries (the other salads come with them by default) and I think I counted 6 fries total. My partner's burger was ok, but very basic; It comes plain and you need to select any toppings. The restaurant itself was packed and the bar area was way too crowded for comfort. We ate on the screened patio and the fireplace was a pretty feature. We'll come back if we're ever in the area again, but this isn't somewhere we would travel to visit. read more

I haven't been to the NPL in maybe 25 years. I used to go there as a kid, but have lived out of state for the past 30 years. I took my Mom in for a quick dinner tonight, and was pretty happy. I had the fish sandwich, which was big, fresh tasting, and came with yummy fries and coleslaw. I especially like that the fish was breaded rather than the normal beer batter coating that everyone uses. It's a lot less greasy that way, and you can actually taste the fish. It's the best fish sandwich I've had in some time. My mom had a salad with salmon, and she also enjoyed her meal. I'm giving this place a 4 because it could be a little cleaner, but otherwise I have no criticism. read more

The waitress was very friendly and got our order in fast. I had the large fish sandwich and changed the fries to their chips which are great. While I had the fish before I didn't remember how good it was. How they cooked it I don't know but for being fried there was no grease! Fantastic!
