I don't know if this was just unlucky, but there was literally a bug in my leftover Philly cheesesteak dinner! The leftovers went from the restaurant, to my car, sat for about a 3 hour car ride home, box unopened that whole time, then into my fridge for 15 min, then into my belly, same styrofoam container used...You be the judge of where that bug came from, but I personally am disgusted. I immediately threw everything up. It's probably anxiety, but now my belly is in awful pain :( I am so upset that I will never return, I told my friends & their family member to not come back, and I'm posting a review about it to warn others. Not sure what happened to this place. We used to come here often, but not after the most recent visits. Twice in the past few months, our food has taken 40-45 minutes to be served. Both visits, we were the only people in the restaurant. Our server never really checked on us or offered drink refills either. Never even got to eat because the waitress thought it was more important to find something on TV for another customer, one of the three in the place at 5:30 on a Saturday night, than to give us menues or see if we wanted something to drink. The customer kept saying she would move to a booth where she could see what she wanted to watch because it was on a different TV. But the waitress kept insisting she stay in her booth and she would find it. After 15 minutes of being ignored we got up and left. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Cute little joint with some pretty amazing food!! I just stopped in by myself while waiting for my car to be fixed at a near by dealer and couldn't believe I'd never heard of this place! I ordered a hazy blue moon and a grilled portobello sandwich with coleslaw. The flavor was incredible. Let me warn you, it's messy and the bun is there to be cut, not lifted lol but it's still excellent. The price point is spot on (19.00 for 2 beers and the food) and the staff is super friendly. In town for a training and everyone kept telling me to come here for a steak salad. So apparently it's a thing in this neck of the woods to put French fries on a salad....who knew! I'm from eastern PA and we definitely don't have salads topped with fries! Basically this place is an old school bar that serves pretty decent food. They have specials every day, today was $2 off burgers. However I opted to try this crazy salad. The portion was huge and the salad was fresh but I wish the steak was cooked less, it was well done which made it a bit chewy. The fries on the salad was different, I didn't dislike it but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to have it again. It's a novelty and I can cross it off my bucket list. The service was really wonderful. The food was delicious. My boyfriend said the beer was good and cold. I got the salmon salad with tzaziki as dressing. Salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The salad was fresh and bigger than I expected. My boyfriend got a Philly sandwich and veggies, along with loaded fries. The fries were impressive. The sandwich was huge and had good flavor. We didn't wait long for any of it. The restrooms could definitely use a little attention, though. We would definitely return. Prices are decent. read more

Very nicely renovated. Asked the server for water w/ lemon. She served the lemons in a coffee mug. Really? A small plate would have been more appropriate. I guess we got there at shift change (4 pm I think) because the cook came out and took our order next. Very strange. I then proceed to motion the bartender so I can order a banana cream pie martini. She takes the drink menu with her (which is kept on the table) and tells me she's not sure if she has the banana liqueur. Then yells over to me that she found it, but not sure if she has the whipped cream. Then yells once again that she has that too. Ugh. While the drink was good, there was way too much whipped cream and would have had a better presentation if they rimmed the glass in perhaps graham cracker crumbs. I ordered the meatball volcano. It's basically a meatball hoagie, but the meatballs are served in a bread bowl. That was very good. Husband had the reuben; said it was good but the corned beef was overcooked a bit. You know, when I took a look at the menu, I was pumped up to go here. I really thought this place was going to be great. It just wasn't. I don't know if it wasn't their night, but I just couldn't believe how bad it was. First, I ordered a Pepsi, but it just didn't taste right. I told them about it. They got me another one, which tasted the same. After others complained, they decided to change the CO2, but it still didn't taste right. I accepted it and moved on. We ordered an appetizer of fried mushrooms. They were barely cooked. Plus, the sauce that they came with was weird. Our meals finally came out. My wife had the shrimp basket. She wasn't impressed at all. She did like the sweet potato fries, which had sugar and cinnamon on them. I ordered the smoky mountain chicken. The chicken was so over cooked that the cook should be arrested for abuse to animals. My wife had an issue in the bathroom, being that the stalls didn't lock. She and another person had to hold their doors closed while using the toilet. I am hoping that this was just a one off. I will probably try again, hoping that it changes. But, I have my doubts that it will get better. Maybe they will prove me wrong. read more

This was our go-to restaurant during the pandemic. They make delicious gyro salads and we would normally order on a Thursday take out because it was Greek night. The only thing I didn't like were the french fries but other than that, the food is generous in portion and satisfying. I loved their Greek dressing they used to have too. read more

They have Family style seating in their dining room, so BaRuni's is great for serving groups and large parties. A very friendly staff serves home style foods/variety menu with reasonable prices and downright CHEAP for specialty beers from their beer cave/cooler. The first time I ordered from here I got a half way decent shrimp dinner. The fries were floppy and barely warm though. The spinach artichoke dip was so solid I had to put it in the microwave to melt it. Instead of cream cheese like their menu says, it was basically melted provolone with spinach. I figured maybe someone new was working and didnt think much of it. Overall I was very unimpressed but decided to give them another try. Again I ordered the Shrimp Dinner and Spinach Artichoke dip just to find more warm floppy fries cooked in old oil and a bowl of half melted provolone with a tiny bit of spinch melted in. I literally threw it straight in the trash. After this I knew that it wasnt a fluke and it will be my last time eating here. You couldnt pay me to give them a third shot. read more

Really great food and service. We were greeted immediately by a friendly woman who got our drinks. The waitress quickly followed with menus... which is extensive! I ordered the meatball volcano with sweet potato fries... delicious and humungous. My daughter got boneless mild wings... she votes them her 2nd favorite. (That's actually a big deal for her to say about restaurant wings) My husband ordered the tilapia, sweet potato fries, and salad. He said it was amazing especially with the dill sauce that accompanied it. All that with drinks for $34!!!! We later found that the woman who sat us is also the owner. The beer selection at Ba Runi is great and cheap! They always have things going on, karaoke, food specials, beer specials. They have a beer club, drink a certain amount and you get a free shirt and plaque on the wall. The service is reallllllyyyyyy slow but the food is good for bar food. Went here on 8/2/2019 It smells of a old smoking bar. or maybe a employee smokes inside. A very bad smell, should of turn around then but did not. My bad. We ordered two fried shrimp dinners with a salad. They must of ran out of shrimp because they gave us coconut fried shrimp. Three shrimp on both plates were not coconut shrimp, they were a very dark grey almost black underneath the breading. I ate a few that looked normal, but stop after four. I did not eat the dark grey shrimp! I have no idea where the bought these frozen shrimp, but they were the worst I ever had. To the owner: please at least go to Costco and buy your food. It was way better then the company you are buying your frozen food from now. To everyone to is remotely thinking of eating here: Please drive 10 miles south on route 65 an go to the Sewickley Speakeasy and get their light fare for $20 a plate. 1000% better then anything at Ba'Runi Hotel & Grille. I went here recently with a friend. They were not busy, only a few singles at the bar and two tables eating. Our waitress left in the middle of our meal (no explanation) so a random guy from the kitchen waited on us. We were not given silverware and had to ask. My burger came out burnt to a crisp and the bun was so soggy it was falling apart. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made with spoiled milk, or they had been sitting in a fridge for weeks. One spoonful made me gag. My friend's meal was also inedible. After we stated that we were unhappy with what we received, we were told there was "nothing they could do." We will not be returning. There is a huge beer selection at Ba'Runi and it is cheap! They also have a beer list that you can complete or at least try to work on. The prize is nothing other than a tshirt for 75 beers and a name on the wall for about 175 but it makes it fun! They have indoor and outdoor seating and daily specials. I enjoy their food and classify it as more than just bar food. Some nights they have a deep dish pizza, other nights they have greek night and then they have a range of items ranging from wings and burgers to pasta and crab cakes. The prices are good and you get a huge side salad with any entree. The fish is delicious and huge! The spinach dip is a great app. read more

The steak salads here are some of the best I've had. Portions are very generous, plenty for leftovers the next day. Same goes with the fish sandwich, they serve huge delicious pieces. Everything was reasonably priced. Will be back in the future. read more

The bar tender was more worried about her Facebook page and ride than the customers. She took her hair out of a ponytail and constantly was running her hands through her hair behind the bar near open drinks and the open ice. Never washing her hands after. My drink, that had a hair in it, sat on the bar towards the bar tender and she never came over. Also, I went with the intention of eating but was never offered a menu, nor did I want to eat after seeing the hair incident. She never asked our names for our tab so when the new bar tender came in, she had to ask everyone at the bar who they were. She also told us there were no specials, however, the new bar tender did inform us. I've never had a problem before, and with this establishment so close to home it was nice to have as an option.
