Ehhh wasn't too impressed. Ordered a Cuban sandwich w/ fries and an order of chicken tenders w/ fries for takeout. Cuban was ok. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't anything I'd bother ordering again. Chicken tenders were not good at all. Severely overcooked, burnt oil taste. Dry and chewy. Fries went in the trash. Could have been due to the fact that we ordered takeout and they steamed a bit in the box. Probably better fresh. Feel like I'd have better luck eating at the restaurant. Stopped at Sunny Jim's on Camp Horne Rd. for lunch and to use a gift card that we had been given about a year or so ago. When the bill came we were told that the gift card was old and no longer valid. A year old with no expiration date??? When we asked why, we were told their system wouldn't process it. Again we noted that there wasn't an expiration date on the card and pointed out that there is a federal law that states if there is no expiration date, the card IS valid and must be accepted. There wasn't a manager available, so we told the employee who addressed our concern and stated that she is the owner's daughter, that we would pay the difference between the gift card balance & the bill's total, which we did. She then stated that the waitress would be responsible for the gift card amount if we didn't pay. We then pointed out, since Sunny Jim's received the money for the gift card in the first place, it would be wrong for them to make the waitress pay it, aside from the fact that this is an egregious business practice on the part of Sunny Jim's. As we were heading to the door and she was returning to the kitchen, she loudly remarked to anyone in earshot that we were a-holes & next time we should go to McDonald's. Solid 4 stars. IPA fish was very crisp, French fries fresh and very crisp, burger had fresh veggies. Meatball casserole was more a spaghetti as it didn't seem baked. One of the best fish sandwiches around during Lent! What's even better is the Fried Chicken Platter. You will not be disappointed! The food was absolutely amazing! Rating 5 The service was absolutely horrible! Rating 0 Originally ordered ham and turkey sandwich and the rib and wing special. After ordering it took the waitress almost 15 minutes to tell us that the ribs were unavailable. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich instead. Food took about 20 minutes to come out never saw the waitress once to refill drinks or see how we were doing. After the food came out which was delicious we never saw the waitress again. I had to go to the bar to ask the bartender for a check. This was unacceptable as we had places to go. Another waitress brought out the check and it was $28 and she took our credit card. All of a sudden our missing waitress shows up and takes the credit card from the other waitress and charges us $33. In looking at the two checks, apparently they forgot to charge for one drink. Our missing waitress charged us for two drinks, even though we only ordered one drink and a water. Sunny Jim's find waitresses that want to be there! Would be 4 star based on the food typically.. But the last 5 (!!!!!!!!) takeout orders have been missing items. Not difficult orders. Just always short a side of fries or chicken tenders. Decent food at okay prices. This place is extremely popular in the area, and I can understand why, but the food isn't really something worth writing home about. I ordered online on Uber Eats and got to try the cheesesteak/hoagie and a side of coleslaw. You get to order one of many sides for free along with your order of an entree or a sandwich. A few of the potential side options include soup (for an up charge), cottage cheese, apple sauce, fries, chips, baked potatoes, vegetables, salad, and so on. I thought the coleslaw was quite good. Creamy, vibrant, and just overall very satisfying. Getting it as a free side was nice. It was very creamy but a bit sweet as well (also some carrots). The steak hoagie was pretty substandard. It did not contain much cheese, and the little bit of cheese it did have was not very flavorful. They also did not have mushrooms. The bread was thick and not that toasty. The steak was chewy and relatively flavorless. Price was okay for the portion. All in all, the food wasn't that great, but it wasn't bad either. I thought they made a great coleslaw and the portion was fantastic for that slaw! Definitely recommend that. But, the hoagie itself wasn't that flavorful. read more

We stopped for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was busy but not so much that we had to wait to be seated. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the Sunny burger with fries. We had a great time here on Sunday. Their outside eating area is very well done! We don't live in Pittsburgh anymore and didn't realize they had recently had a fire, but they did a great job with redecorating the inside area as well.
