    Public Breakfast Taco
    Kyle C.

Service at the bar was exceptional. Very comfortable, relaxed and the bartender was attentive without being bothersome. The Public Breakfast Tacos were under seasoned and the soggy hash browns on the bottom were a bust. Fries were great. The prosciutto Caprese sandwich was a surprise. I was expecting a cold sandwich but it was grilled which made it hard to eat with the hot watery tomatoes. I'd get again but with mayo and not grilled.

Wexford Public is a local, family-owned restaurant that offers lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch for dining in and takeout. They also offer catering. Examples of menu items are appetizers (e.g., shrimp cocktail and nachos), soups, salads, wings, burgers, flatbreads, entrees (e.g., pasta primavera, chicken, duck, pork chop, swordfish, and A-5 wagyu), desserts (e.g., limoncello and cheesecake), and drinks (e.g., mocktails, cocktails, wines, whiskeys, and beers). My husband and I have eaten here twice--once for lunch last year and once for dinner this year. Both times, we enjoyed the employees' service and the foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Passionfruit-Paloma Mocktail - 4 stars - sour. Spring Sangria - 4.5 stars - slightly fruity. Jumbo Pretzel - 5 stars - huge size with beer cheese and mustard sauce. French Onion Soup - 5 stars - This soup had a rich broth, onions, and cheese. Ybor Cuban sandwich - 4.5 stars - nicely crunchy toast with tasty pork, ham, and Swiss cheese and a side of crispy onion rings. Salmon - 5 stars - I ordered this entree both times. The salmon was perfectly cooked and came with flavorful farro grains, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus. Filet Mignon - 5 stars - This 8-ounce steak was cooked mid-rare as my husband prefers. It came with whipped potatoes and his choice of au poivre style (black pepper crusted with bourbon cream).

My new favorite restaurant in the North Hills. Can't beat the quality and the portion size. With so many options in Wexford go here!

Took my husband here for his birthday dinner. I made an advance reservation on Open Table & indicated in the comments that it was a birthday occasion. We went to the 4:30-6:30 happy hour first at the bar & then to our table. I like the bar area with high tops & bar seating. They do have garage door windows that they can open to their patio with umbrella tables. We shared the HUGE basket of their delish onion rings as a happy hour ($8 as opposed to $11) app at the bar. It includes their spicy Chipotle dippping sauce. They have bourbon flights, a large wine selection, many craft cocktails & lots of beer on tap. I loved their cocktail made with gin, elderflower, prosecco. For dinner I had the grilled octopus (this was my 3rd time having it & it was a bit overdone this time). My husband had the wedge salad & pasta primavera (a massive portion & he took most home). I had the grilled walleye special which was served over sweet potato slices. Our server was efficient & friendly. They then offered my husband the choice of a free dessert which was awesome & he chose the limoncello cake which we shared & it was yummy. It even had a round chocolate piece on it that said happy birthday which was a nice touch! This was my first time, having dinner here as opposed to just sitting at the bar twice before for lunch. The restaurant itself is a combo of kind of casual-upscale. You do not need to get dressed up to go there or anything, but the menu and plate presentation is more upscale. For the two of us to have a few drinks at the bar, the two appetizers and the two dinners the price was around 150+ tip. The restaurant is located behind Walnut Grille off Rt 19, it is not visible from the road. It's kind of tucked into the shopping plaza behind the big hospital complex. There's plenty of parking.

This place is doing a lot of things right. Their pricing is a little on the high end so the expectations are set to match. Their hostesses, bartenders and wait staff are incredible and address any issues quickly. Our waitress even chased us out to our car with our left behind credit card which was so appreciated. The drinks are good and there are nice draft beer options. We'd recommend adding an after dinner cocktail list with some amaros, cordials, and ports. The calamari app was cooked well but salty. The sauce provided was nondescript but welcome to help cut the saltiness. Toscano chicken had a very delicious grilled flavor and the whipped potatoes were perfectly prepared. The outside of the chicken was a little tough in spots due to the flame grilling. The swordfish was cooked perfectly and very moist. We were able to sub broccolini for the veggie and it was very good. For dessert, we had the pumpkin cheesecake that was super yummy and an espresso martini. We loved the fireplaces and the spacing between the tables. The lighting is very nice too. We'll definitely return in the future.

Little fancier than we expected but the food was good and service was steady. We sat at the bar. Our appetizer was the tuna poke nachos which reminded us of Coughlins Law crab Rangoon nachos but not as sweet. I got the truffle fries which I wish came with a sauce. My husband got the pasta which he said was good. Drinks were okay. Overall a little pricey for what you get but very nice place.

Had the burger 1st time there and it was good, fries were good. Had the firewalker wings and were not great but at least not overcooked as most do and flavor was good but not real spicy. Meatballs were good and soft, but did not like the sauce as much.

Excellent Food in a Family-Owned Spot, But Transparency, Noise, and a Few Service Touches Need Polishing (4/5 Overall)** I visited Wexford Public (12087 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA) recently for dinner with my family, drawn by its reputation as a locally owned, chef-driven American restaurant in the heart of Wexford. Owned by longtime locals John and Melanie Dober, it positions itself as a warm, community-focused spot blending upscale comfort food with a welcoming vibe--think handcrafted sandwiches, premium Black Angus steaks, fresh seafood, flatbreads, and daily specials, all with thoughtful wine and bourbon selections. We were excited for what promised to be a polished neighborhood gem, and in many ways, it delivered. The food was genuinely great and the clear highlight. Our dishes were flavorful, well-executed, and creative without being fussy--fresh ingredients shone through, portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and beautifully plated. It's easy to see why so many reviewers rave about the crab cakes, steaks, and chef specials; the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. This is elevated American fare that feels special yet approachable, and we'd happily return just for the meals. That said, a few aspects fell short and left us feeling the overall experience wasn't quite as seamless as the food deserved. First and foremost, the billing transparency issue was disappointing. They add a 3% bank/credit card processing fee to the check (which adds up quickly on a family dinner), but this isn't disclosed on the menu, at the table, or in any obvious way during the ordering process. There's only a small sign posted outside the restaurant. We only noticed it when the bill arrived, and it felt like an afterthought rather than a clear policy. In an era where many restaurants are upfront about surcharges (or absorb them), this lack of disclosure came across as sneaky and detracted from the otherwise positive value perception. The atmosphere was another mixed bag. The space itself is attractive--soft lighting, comfortable seating, and that friendly "upscale brew pub" energy the owners aim for. However, it was noticeably noisy during our evening visit. Conversations required raised voices, especially as the dining room filled up, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal fully. OpenTable rates the noise as "moderate," but on our night it tipped louder than that, possibly due to the layout or lack of sufficient sound absorption. A bit more attention to acoustics could make a big difference. Service was mostly attentive and efficient, but the management interaction stood out in a negative way. When we politely mentioned the surprise fee at the end of the meal, the response was an apology that felt scripted and insincere--like it had been delivered many times before without real follow-through or ownership. It didn't leave us feeling heard or valued as guests. On a brighter note, the owners John and Melanie genuinely come across as lovely people. The restaurant has that personal, homegrown touch you can sense even when they're not physically present, and locals speak highly of them. They were absent during our nighttime visit, though, which is understandable for owners juggling a busy operation--but their warmth is missed when the front-of-house team is handling everything solo. In summary, Wexford Public excels where it matters most: the food is consistently excellent and worth the trip on its own. The family-owned charm and diverse menu make it a strong neighborhood choice for special occasions, casual dinners, or even happy hour in the cocktail bar. However, clearer communication about the credit card fee (ideally on the menu or bill upfront), better noise management, and more authentic handling of guest concerns would elevate it from very good to outstanding. We'll likely go back for the cuisine, but with tempered expectations on the finer details. If you're in the Wexford area and prioritize great American plates, it's still a solid recommendation--just check the small print before you pay.

    French onion soup
    Natalie H.

On a cold winter day, I was craving French Onion soup. Someone on the Pittsburgh Foodies Facebook group recommended the French Onion soup at Wexford Public. I was greeted by the friendliest staff, sat immediately & the food came promptly. The service was excellent. I'm excited to explore the menu. I would say this is the equivalent of an upscale American diner.

We went to Wexford Public for our anniversary dinner and had such a great experience. We made a reservation for 5:30 PM and were surprised it was not overly busy when we arrived, but by the time we left, the place was packed. Our waitress was wonderful. She knew it was our first time there and that we were celebrating, and she truly made it a special experience. She even surprised us with a free dessert for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. I also loved their mocktail selection, which had some great options. We started with the pretzel, and it was huge and so good. I had the ravioli for dinner, and it was a big portion and absolutely delicious. I am a big fan of Wexford Public and would definitely return in the future.

We had a late Sunday dinner at Wexford Public tonight. It's located where Stacked, a poor burger and beer place used to be located. The dining room has been attractively renovated, being quiet, and with nice big fireplaces. The menu is nicely diversified, with numerous apps, soups, salads, flatbreads, and mains. We had the Cuban flatbread and the cheese and pepper ravioli. The food was excellent, as was the service. There's a very nice wine list, with good quality and fair prices. We'll definitely return.

    Tower Sundae
    Cookie S.

Solid experience. Emily was wonderful as a server. Environment is pleasant. Ordered the 16oz bone in strip on special. Steak needed a bit more seasoning, but demi was tasty. Whipped potatoes were smooth. Dessert was "tower sundae." It's 2 scoops of ice cream with a tray of toppings. It made us snail and laugh as we ate. Solid 4 stars.

Wexford public was a great find! It has a great environment and friendly staff. The food was awesome, the steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were incredibly crispy! The French onion soup was the perfect add on as well with rich flavors and a great portion! This place is a must try!

Well, today was the day, and we had high expectations based on the photos and other Yelp reviews that we saw before dinner. It, unfortunately, did not live up to our expectations. The outdoor seating area is nice, and the entire restaurant gives off an upscale Primanti's vibe. We ordered the Pabst burger, Fried chicken sandwich, buffalo wings, and kids' chicken tenders. The French fries ended up being the favorite part of our meals. Everything else was so-so. Warning on the wings... They came out incredibly hot. I ate everything else in my meal and came back to them, but they were still almost too hot to eat. The service was solid, and the food came to our table quickly. I understand that "Tap House" is directly in the restaurant's name, but the patrons at the table next to us were enjoying Happy Hour heavily, and their conversation, during our time there, eroded into a significant amount of loud cussing. It definitely made me second-guess whether I would go here with my kids again. I think we'll give it another try, and I hope that today was just an off day.

Am looking forward to being back! My server was Tolia (sorry if I'm misspelling/misremembering) and she did an AMAZING job. She was super friendly, made awesome menu recommendations and was a delight to chat to. She recommended I start with the char grilled octopus and this was delicious. The potion was easily finished by just me, so if you have more than 2 people I'd recommend getting more than 1 order of these. It's so delicious. I was then picking between the pastitsio and the moussaka. I was told they both have a strong nutmeg flavor which was not a problem for me. I decided on the moussaka and it was so delicious. It did have a strong nutmeg flavor but not in an overwhelming way. It came with a bechamel sauce on top and layers of eggplant with ground beef tomato and potato. It sort of reminded me of a shepherds pie if you're not as familiar with Greek food. The portion was HUGE - could easily split between 2. I ate almost half of it but couldn't eat the rest although I wish I could've. It was so good. The cocktail I ordered was a nectar spritz (something with "nectar" in the title at least) and genuinely was one of the best cocktails I've had.
