Went to Wexford Public to celebrate Matt's birthday last night. Had an amazing meal and we were treated like royalty by our server, Nicole. The food blew me out of the water! The fresh tastes, unique parings, it all just hit the spot. We started out with a ton of appetizers, pulled pork nachos, with beer cheese, crispy calamari and a delicious Spanish octopus. I definitely recommend trying all of these! Their beer cheese was so good, I was legitimately jealous when the lady at the table next to us got their giant soft pretzel, and it came with the cheese. Definitely getting that next time! Matt got the iberico special, a beautiful pork steak with a peach corn salsa and saffron rice. I opted for the steak frites, a perfectly cooked picanha cut with shoe string fries. Think your favorite burger places fries, and add a ton of bougie. This is a great spot, nicely decorated, and the staff is genuinely friendly. The noise level wasn't bad either, even for a Saturday night. We will definitely be back. read more

My wife and I met several other family members at Wexford Public for Lunch on a recent Sunday, and we were not impressed. I want to begin be stating clearly that the staff were all very friendly and efficient. The rest of the experience, however, was less satisfying. The place has a very nice patio and fireplace area, but like too many establishments that seems to be their only focus. It was hot, so we sat inside which was far more basic. The whole place could also use a good cleaning. You can tell a lot about the cleanliness standards of a restaurant by looking at the bathrooms, and the men's room was gross. They also have no doors on the kitchen and when I walked by on my way back from the restroom (after we had already eaten our lunch) I saw the same need for cleaning. Not the worst I've ever seen, but if you're going to put it all out there for your customers to see I would think spic-n-span would be the goal. Anyway, we ordered lunch and everything was okay, but not special. We were also annoyed that the chef can't seem to get beef temperature right. My wife asked for her burger to be well done - going as far as telling the waiter that they can burn it to a crisp if necessary - but it came out still pink in the middle. She ate it to avoid wasting food, but she was not happy. I had the steak frites and ordered mine medium. It was very rare. I was also shocked by the amount of salt on everything, and this was noted by everyone at the table. For the price I think there are better options in the area. read more

The Public Breakfast Tacos were under seasoned and the soggy hash browns on the bottom were a bust. Fries were great. The prosciutto Caprese sandwich was a surprise. Took my husband here for his birthday dinner. I made an advance reservation on Open Table & indicated in the comments that it was a birthday occasion. We went to the 4:30-6:30 happy hour first at the bar & then to our table. I like the bar area with high tops & bar seating. They do have garage door windows that they can open to their patio with umbrella tables. We shared the HUGE basket of their delish onion rings as a happy hour ($8 as opposed to $11) app at the bar. It includes their spicy Chipotle dippping sauce. They have bourbon flights, a large wine selection, many craft cocktails & lots of beer on tap. I loved their cocktail made with gin, elderflower, prosecco. For dinner I had the grilled octopus (this was my 3rd time having it & it was a bit overdone this time). My husband had the wedge salad & pasta primavera (a massive portion & he took most home). I had the grilled walleye special which was served over sweet potato slices. Our server was efficient & friendly. They then offered my husband the choice of a free dessert which was awesome & he chose the limoncello cake which we shared & it was yummy. It even had a round chocolate piece on it that said happy birthday which was a nice touch! This was my first time, having dinner here as opposed to just sitting at the bar twice before for lunch. The restaurant itself is a combo of kind of casual-upscale. You do not need to get dressed up to go there or anything, but the menu and plate presentation is more upscale. For the two of us to have a few drinks at the bar, the two appetizers and the two dinners the price was around 150+ tip. The restaurant is located behind Walnut Grille off Rt 19, it is not visible from the road. It's kind of tucked into the shopping plaza behind the big hospital complex. First time here and I won't be back. It was early so there were a lot of tables available. The hostess decided to seat two grown men at a square table for four when several booths were available. I ordered a Long Island iced tea that was not made correctly with very little alcohol . I ordered the prime beef cheeseburger ($26) with a $2 upgrade for onion rings. The burger was decent, but nothing I couldn't get elsewhere for $12. The onion rings were very good. My son ordered the 14 oz strip steak ($52) medium. It comes with mashed potatoes which is something he doesn't eat. When ask if there was a substitution, the server said yes, but there would be an up charge. The steak came and it was rare. The server was gracious and took it back to be cooked longer. I understand that good help is hard to get in today's world, but if you're going to hire people who aren't trained, you need to do some serious training before allowing someone to cook a $52 steak. I don't blame the server, and I don't blame the cook. I blame the manager or owner for not properly hiring people to cook, or not training them properly. This place is doing a lot of things right. Their pricing is a little on the high end so the expectations are set to match. Their hostesses, bartenders and wait staff are incredible and address any issues quickly. Our waitress even chased us out to our car with our left behind credit card which was so appreciated. The drinks are good and there are nice draft beer options. We'd recommend adding an after dinner cocktail list with some amaros, cordials, and ports. The calamari app was cooked well but salty. The sauce provided was nondescript but welcome to help cut the saltiness. Toscano chicken had a very delicious grilled flavor and the whipped potatoes were perfectly prepared. The outside of the chicken was a little tough in spots due to the flame grilling. The swordfish was cooked perfectly and very moist. We were able to sub broccolini for the veggie and it was very good. For dessert, we had the pumpkin cheesecake that was super yummy and an espresso martini. We had a late Sunday dinner at Wexford Public tonight. It's located where Stacked, a poor burger and beer place used to be located. The dining room has been attractively renovated, being quiet, and with nice big fireplaces. The menu is nicely diversified, with numerous apps, soups, salads, flatbreads, and mains. We had the Cuban flatbread and the cheese and pepper ravioli. The food was excellent, as was the service. There's a very nice wine list, with good quality and fair prices. I recently stopped here with my MIL for an early dinner. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and the place had plenty of seating, and a nice large bar. Wow! This meal was incredible! It seems that most places in the Cranberry-Wexford area are chain, so this is a nice, different addition! Chic interior and great service. The food: Octopus - yum, yum, YUM! It had a Mediterranean flavor profile -- plenty of octopus on top of hummus, olive oil, and topped with a lovely herby chimichurri. This was SO good. The octopus texture was perfect. French onion soup - delicious. Everything you love about a good bowl of cheesy, oniony soup. My wife loved her cacio e pepe ravioli and carrots. I had the swordfish. This swordfish was better than what I had at Off the Hook, which was also delicious. The char added a depth of flavor to a very meaty swordfish. I loved the capers, shallot, lemon, and butter sauce. My plate was clean when I was done. We ended the night with the pumpkin cheesecake. Absolutely delicious. It was Fall in a bite. It was everything you love about pumpkin. Emmalee took care of us tonight and she did a great job. She made some great food recommendations and overall was just bursting with incredible energy. She engaged in conversation with us and checked back on us every 10 minutes or so. As for the food, I got the WP burger with all of the toppings and upgraded to onion rings. I liked the burger and the onion rings were top notch, not too greasy with big onions inside. I like the feel of this place, it's cozy. This was our first experience. It was good. We'll probably come back. We started with the hummus. It came with warmed pita, sliced carrots, and celery. The hummus was average. Carrots and celery were great. Pita was below average because it was hard and seemed like it was warmed earlier and left on the counter. I had the Pork Milanese and my spouse had the Alaskan Ivory Salmon (chef special). Mine came with a pile of arugula and pickled onions (no other side). My pork was great, but could have been excellent if not so dry. The presentation was average; too much stuff just thrown on it. I received two good portions and took one home. See photo. Her salmon came with bok choy. It was an excellent dish. Bok choy was the side. She loves salmon. As sides, we ordered the whipped mashed potatoes (came with a bit of butter) and green beans. The mashed were excellent. The beans were cooked perfectly but seemed a bit oily. The sides can be easily shared. We mashed home with us. We took a slice of chocolate cake home with us, too. When we got home (immediately after) and took it out of the bag, we noticed that the whipped cream was not placed in a separate container. It looked dismal. We split it. I wasn't a fan of it at all. I found it too soft and warm kitchen tempy, and very rich. Wife said it was "just okay," and she loves chocolate. Photo = 1k words. Our server was outstanding. She was knowledgeable and paced everything well. She was friendly and took great care of us. This point has absolutely nothing to do with the rating. NOTHING. We found out when we received our check that they charge a fee if you use a credit card. As we left, we saw a small sign in small font near the door that warned us of this outcome if you don't pay cash. We were able to find enough cash that we had squirreled away to cover the bill and tip. This place isn't inexpensive (we had zippo alcohol), so if we hadn't come up with $135 in cash, we'd had to spend ~$4 more. We know this is becoming a trend and it's one we don't like at all. Well, this place has been open for over a year and I feel bad that we were just trying it out. The last place in this location was a burger and beer spot and I think we had the idea this was 'too fancy'. Very happy that we finally gave it a try. The atmosphere is relaxed with seating options outside, inside in dining area or bar area. There are fireplaces inside and heating outside. They have a good beer and cocktail list and a separate wine list. Some good IPAs on the list for me. Menu was interesting with lots of options. Interesting appetizers, wings, tacos, sandwiches and entrees. I got the NOLA pasta and she got the Fish and chips. Both were large portions which we took some home. Service was excellent- Maria our server was friendly and helpful with menu descriptions and suggestions and was never rushed. The manager also stopped by our table to check on us. Plan to return to try some of the other menu items including some tasty sounding desserts (Curious George!) which we did not save room for. This place has a casual feel with upscale touches.
