Let's first start off by explaining that this is simply a hotel bar now that serves hotel room service quality food. This is no longer a more structured restaurant and we sat at the bar to eat (so don't expect to be seated at a table, if that is what your preferred) If you look at previous pictures posted, they are from several years ago and not indicative of the current offerings or current presentations (e.g.: I ordered the Caesar salad with steak, nothing at all like the earlier photos). As for the food.. it was ok. Hubby got the Italian panini. He said it was good but not hot, and "nothing special". We shared the Brussel sprouts which include raisins. This, along with the marinade made for a very sweet dish. It wasn't bad (and in fact, I thought the Brussels were perfectly cooked) but it was too sweet for my liking. The steak in my salad was subpar. Over seasoned and low quality. Service was ok. They were attentive but not necessarily terribly friendly. Ember & Vine is inside the Doubletree Hotel, where I was staying as part of a business trip. I went on a Thursday for happy hour. In addition to their daily happy hour, they also have specials. Thursdays was 4 small martini sample pours for the price of a regular martini. Granted, the selection was limited a part of their martini menu, it was still a great way to get a variety. Most were slightly on the sweet side, but I could barely taste the alcohol (because of mixology, not a lack of spirits). The restaurant bar sits in the middle of the hotel's lobby, which is wide open and very modern. Lots of natural light comes in from the ceiling and tables are spread out so much so that you can also feel like you are in a private lounge. After the martinis, I got a beer sampler, wings, and the brussel sprouts. The sprouts were amazing, especially for $5 on happy hour. They also have deals on pizza, a neopolitan style crust with lighter toppings and blistered, thin crust. The bartender used to work at a brewery and was incredibly knowledgeable about the beers on tap and local breweries. Great conversation. I was their alone on business and it felt like someplace I could become a regular. read more

Great Pizza located in the hotel. They have a wood burning pizza oven. You can actually see into the kitchen on how the pizza is being prepared. Crust - Crispy, had the bubbles / air pockets I love with a crunchy crust. Sauce - the sauce was okay. It was good, not too much where the toppings would slide off. This review is more directed at the bar/happy hour scene. The food is still good. Unfortunately, this went from a 5 star happy hour to a 3 star over a few month span. I recommended to everyone in the local area to have their company happy hours here. The food menu was expansive and there was a nice list of cocktails to choose from. The last few visits the menu has gradually had things removed until finally there is only a drink of the day and only a handful of items on the food menu. It's disappointing as that will be our last group happy hour here. The bar is also severely understaffed now. If you are sitting at a table at the bar, they don't even come over now. You have to walk up to the bar. I don't think it's bad service either, I just don't think they have the bandwidth to support it. The food is excellent though. So, that still has apparently remained intact at least. read more

7-9-19 I'm still sticking with the 4 stars, because 3.5 is not a choice. The food & service at the bar as been fairly solid during my visits. It's definitely worth the visit if you're staying in the hotel. The draw for me previously living local is that a hotel bar/restaurant has to offer something unique that regular local bar/restaurants don't offer. Originally Ember & Vine's Happy Hour menu was large and fairly unique and one big draw was their 1/2 price wood fired pizzas during happy hour. They also used to have oysters & champagne specials & their smoked salmon deviled eggs were delish. On today's visit I noticed that the happy hour food menu had changed to just French fries (boring), wings (pretty boring but they did look good), Brussels sprouts (everyone got on this kick too) & I forget the 4th option. Anyway, none of those appealed or were very exciting & no 1/2 price brick oven pizza. I ordered 1/2 a Caesar salad & the Italian pizza $14. I didn't want a full size salad because I wasn't sure how large it was so the bartender offered a 1/2. The 1/2 was plenty for me combined with my pizza , but super small in a round dish, almost kid sized. The pizza was good, but not as good as previous visits, I felt for brick oven it was slightly under cooked & they sure skimped on the sausage topping, lots of cheese. The only thing I was totally happy about was that they still had the $7 Tito's dirty martinis on the happy hour menu. They also increased their craft tap & bottle list & have 4 wines on happy hour so beer drinkers should enjoy that . So nowadays the drinks & not the appetizers/food may be the only draw. Which obviously does NOT set Ember & Vine out above other local establishments. The bartender said there was a recent management change at the hotel which could account for menu changes. So Ember & Vine, bottom line is that if you want to draw locals to a hotel bar you're gonna need to kick it up a notch like from when you first opened. read more

Ember and Vine is modern and attractive in the remodeled hotel lobby. The menu is limited but diverse, with small plates, salads, pizza (of course), meat, fish, and pasta dinners, and sandwiches. The wine list is also limited and diverse, with prices on the high side of reasonable. Service at last night's dinner was okay, but the place was nearly empty, so it wasn't a real challenge. We had a burger and pizza and, as always, a bottle of California Chardonnay. The food was pretty good, and the wine was half-price because it was Wednesday. Overall it was a decent experience, but it is a hotel restaurant, although somewhat better than is typical. If we return it will be on a Wednesday to take advantage of the half-price wine. read more

My family and I stayed at the Doubletree on our way home from spending the holidays with our East Coast family. The hotel is easily accessible from the turnpike, which made it perfect for us to grab a room and get a good night's sleep. After checking in, we headed to the restaurant for dinner. Everyone we encountered was super-friendly. We were quickly seated and presented food and cocktail menus. The restaurant space is very beautiful, very modern and clean. We ordered the kiddie mac n cheese for the little one, the Margherita pizza and the salmon salad for the 2 adults. The mac n cheese was out of this world! They make an aged cheddar to toss with their cavatappi pasta, and it sure did give it a unique zing that the kiddo and the adults enjoyed. The pizza was baked in a woodfire oven, and came out perfectly cooked. And the salmon salad was a a nice, large fresh piece of salmon, expertly pan-seared, and placed atop a fresh napa and ginger vinaigrette slaw. While we were deciding on food, the gentleman who checked us in stopped by with 2 vouchers for free desserts, just like that! I am a sucker for service, and to pair it with amazing food and a delectable donut bread pudding and a bowl of creamy vanilla ice cream, we all went back to the room, and slept like champions! read more

What an all around great restaurant. Good wine list & nice staff. The deep fried cauliflower app was perfect...light and crunchy, not greasy at all. The bacon jam tarts w/ goat cheese were delicious and the charcuterie board was out of this world. It was heavenly, definitely enough for two people to share for dinner w/ a salad. Their pizzas are great, my son had the potato w/ arugula and my daughter had a plain cheese, both loved theirs. The steaks....wow. My husband had the filet with bleu cheese mashed potatoes, he commented all through the meal how flavorful the steak was. Also highly recommend the ribeye, its sauce was to die for. I came here with my wife for a Friday night dinner. The restaurant was surprisingly sparse despite having a band playing and it being close to dinnertime. The inside is the middle of the hotel with rooms looking down into a spacious dining area. The band played on a stage up front and there were plenty of voices and tables around. We were seated quickly and had our order taken. My wife and I started out splitting the brussels sprouts appetizer. It came in a small iron skillet with bacon and had some caramel sauce in it to give it that sweet and savory flavor. For an entree I ordered the vegetable pappardelle. It was very good, with house made pappardelle, asparagus, and an assortment of other vegetables. Although a little pricey for not having any sort of meat or fish, it had some nice flavor nevertheless, and I was able to leave feeling full and satisfied. Overall I liked this place and have heard very good things about their happy hour. I would like to stop in for some apps and drinks sometime. The food all looked and sounded good. Some of it is a little more than I'd like to spend but that is what happy hour specials are for! My husband and I came here on a Friday evening around 6:30pm. The restaurant is situated in the lobby of the Double Tree located in Cranberry. To our surprise, it was fairly empty. As the evening went on a live band began to play and the crowd began to roll in. Before arriving, we had looked at a menu online and had an idea of what we wanted to try. The in-restaurant menu was slightly different as some of their items are seasonal. I began with the Spring Swallow Creative Cocktail and to my disappointment, the drink was missing the sprig of thyme. We moved on to the appetizer. Several of my friends recommended the Crispy Brussel Sprouts - and man, they were absolutely amazing! Freshly caramelized with thick, fresh bacon pieces and onions. For entrees, we each picked an item to split - I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and my husband ordered the Spring Vegetable Pappardelle. My salad was adorned with house made pickles, house cured bacon, chicken, avocado, hard boiled egg, and tomatoes. All of the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. To top it off, my husbands pasta was house made - very light and it did not leave you feeling bloated. The vegetables were fresh, yes FRESH. I cannot praise this restaurant enough for providing high quality, fresh tasting, flavorful food. My only complaint (besides my missing thyme sprig) was that the service was rather slow and the prices were a little high, but the food made the experience exceptional. read more

I usually avoid hotel restaurants where I am staying, they tend to be mediocre and expensive but the Ember and Vine is a wonderful exception. First of all, the prices on their wood-fired pizzas are quite reasonable, in fact I lucked out and got their happy hour price which was less that eight bucks. The pizza was perfectly cooked with a tasty crust, tomato sauce, cheeses and toppings (I love anchovies and olives). After my experience with the pizza I came back the next night and ordered the fish and chips which again were reasonably priced and perfectly crispy with moist fish. Couple your entree with the cocktail of your choice and you have a winner. My only complaint, and it is a small one is that the air conditioning was turned up a little too high. read more

I want everyone to know where I am what I am doing etc. So it's the DoubleTree that I go to and leave a footprint of where I am going and what I am going to do for that day. They used to have trainshows at the Hotel but they don't anymore but what is gonna stop me from visiting? Uh...Nothing. And I cannot help it, (low on money once but hey...) I gotta eat at Ember & Vine. And do I EAT! I have had Duck Reuben, the BEST OVEN PIZZA! I remember the Olives and Peanuts, but they took that off, my Aunt loved that. I did too. They have a Beautiful Bar and Restaurant all sorts of wonderful food. Last time I had Fish Tacos Po Boy style the Crawfish and House Salad, Notre Dame Cathedral was on fire and everyone including me wanted to cry! The Bar Tender put up the Volume and we watched it. His name is Bob. I met Glenn the Chef. I even showed the Chef the clean plates I left because I finished all my food! He was impressed! Warning watch the wine bottle prices, the menu is not clearly written. There was a 16 after the wine name which I thought was the price, then at the end of the description was 150, with no dollar sign, so I got a huge surprise when the bill came. I had to pay $150 for a bottle of wine that I thought was only $16. The waitress did not explain the wine prices. This is a scam. I will never go back to this restaurant ever again. I never expected to find such a wonderful restaurant in a hotel lobby. We've visited on several occasions now. The setting is really pretty and feels so open. Service is always friendly and very prompt. I love the cauliflower appetizer. We've also really enjoyed the busses sprouts and the scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious. We are staying in this beautiful Double Tree near Pittsburgh. We had driven 7 hrs so we just decided to eat in the restaurant here. The ember and vine so glad we did. The steak and fries was amazing. A wonderful filet was cooked perfect and you could get addicted to the fries. My girls had burgers and they tasted as good as the steaks. But nothing could compare to the greeting and kindness of Harry the restaurant director who we meet in the morning. I have never felt so welcomed and taken care of as I did that morning at breakfast. Wife and I went with friends to ember and vine for dinner. I had never considered it as an option, since it is tucked back at the double tree hotel. But our friends had heard good things and so we gave it a try. The restaurant itself had an open feel to it and we sat near the kitchen, and so overall liked the ambiance. The service too was friendly and solid. The food itself though had a fair amount of misses. We split the potato pizza as an appetizer and it was probably the best thing we ate. Potatoes were really thinly cut, like chips, and the pizza had a nice aioli on it. Good crust. Very tasty. I would get this again. Split a few of the small plates and they were meh. The poutine had a really sweet sauce (overly sweet) and no real cheese curds or much cheese at all, as you would expect in a poutine. The smoked salmon deviled eggs were not really what I expected. They were basically deviled eggs with a salmonly flavor. I was expecting some actual smoked salmon on them. Don't think i would get either again. Our friends got the Mac and cheese and seemed to like it, and it looked really good (though I didn't try it). Finally, I got the short rib and mushroom parpardelle. The pasta itself was very good (seemed freshly made). The dish had these pearl onions in it, which were also an unusual And tasty addition. But the sauce was a bit oily and the short rib too fatty. Overall, it was just an average dish, though it had some potential. In the end, I thought the dinner was pretty average. If I were staying at the hotel, I would probably be more likely to eat there. But I'm not sure I'll be making a special visit to go back there anytime soon. read more

We ate up at the bar on a Saturday night. I started out with the French onion soup. It was rich and had a slightly sweet flavor with homemade croutons and Grueyer cheese. It was the best French onion soup I have ever had! I got the fish which was served on mashed celery root and spinach. The fish was moist. I thought it was good. My partner got a filet mignon and he said it was good. Just the right size and it was served with French fries. The fries were crisply and had a great flavor. I've tried this place 3 times. For a hotel restaurant/bar, they do a great job of advertising to the outside public. I should mention that I have never been a guest at the hotel and still tried it 3 times. For a while they were doing a great brunch on the weekends, but have since done away with that. For lunch and dinner, they have a great menu. It's a tad pricy in my opinion but the executive chef in the kitchen makes it worth the money. Overall, I would recommend this for someone even not staying at the hotel. If you are a guest at the hotel then it's a no brainer. They have a great beer and wine selection and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The service was great every time I went there. Try the wings and pizza if sitting at the bar. read more

Limited options at omelette station -- no mushrooms nor the ingredients to make a proper Western or Denver omelette. Main breakfast buffet included institutional scrambled eggs, bacon, low-quality sausage, pancakes , and home fries. They also added chicken piccata, salmon, institutional mashed potatoes , asparagus and salmon. Highlights included pastries, shrimp cocktail,and Breadworks rolls. Went there for Valentines dinner. Very disappointed! Limited menu had 5-6 entrees. My wife had a Filet for $35 and I had Pork Tenderloin for $27...very overpriced. Food quality was OK but portions extremely small. Vegetable sides were equally small and over cooked. No rolls or salad included. Service was adequate. Glass of wine and draft beer for $14 and $9. The food tasted like it was prepared in a cafeteria and the wait seemed like a long time for what we got. The staff did not seem to know about the menu. For example, I ordered the cheesecake trio and when served, I asked the server what each cheesecake was and he said he didn't know. I had the Mac N Cheese appetizer - not your ordinary kids dish. And I had their house salad - crisp and fresh - delicious with raisins and champagne vinaigrette. Not your typical salad. My husband shared his appetizer of Brussel sprouts - he declared them the best he ever had. I agreed! Sweet enough to be a dessert. So, I went to open table to see what our point total was and saw they were offering bonus points to book at Ember and Vine. I had been wanting to try it anyway so what better time than now. I booked the reservation and away we went. It is set up in the huge lobby area of the now Double Tree in Cranberry (the former Sheraton). They have an open kitchen which was neat and I have to say with all the skylights, it was so light and bright. I liked that a lot. We were greeted immediately by the hostess and seated right away. Our waitress came by a few minutes later and the waiter with the water, was there quickly as well. Our waitress, Leann, was fantastic. She was so bubbly and friendly and totally on it the entire time we were there. I didn't catch the fellows name who kept our water glasses filled and I am sorry about that because he was fantastic as well and our water glasses were not empty the entire evening. The hubby got a bunch of their small plates for his dinner while I got an app and an entrée but everything was simply amazing. I did not expect a restaurant so good in the Doubletree here. It was outstanding!!! We had a variety. My app was the smoked salmon deviled eggs, wow! I love a good deviled egg and add a little smoked salmon, holy crap!!! The hubby got the crispy Brussel sprouts, fried cauliflower, fries, and oysters. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The Brussel sprouts were his favorite and with good reason, wow! I cannot even describe the flavors, the sprouts were phenomenally tasty with bacon and raisins. Wow! Wow! Wow! I got the duck Reuben (the duck was smokey and a little salty, perfect for a Reuben with the toasted Rye and sauerkraut) for my entrée which came with fries (you do get a choice between veggies or fries). I am glad I picked the fries, again, the seasoning is spot on. The fries freshly cut daily. We then had to see the dessert menu. The hubby chose the sticky toffee pudding which was sweet and fantastic. I chose the lemon thyme donuts with pistachio pudding and blueberry compote. I...I don't even know how to describe these flavors, flavors that shouldn't go together yet somehow work in perfect harmony together. The layers of flavor, just extraordinary. Leann noted they do have a pastry chef there and everything is made in house, fresh every day, as others have noted. I also had the ember Cosmo, nice and light, not too sweet. My Dad and I just had a wonderful dinner here! We got the wood fired oysters, raw oysters (they were on special for $1 each!), and fried cauliflower as our appetizers. We both got the pan fried fish (freshly filleted red snapper) for our entree. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu crepe cake and the strawberry creme brûlée. Oh yeah, and I can't forget the homemade sangria that we had to drink! This was hands down one of the best meals we ever had at a restaurant. Everything was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection! Desserts were gorgeously plated and tasted heavenly! We sat at the table that overlooks the kitchen and we got to watch the (very talented!) in house pastry chef make our desserts...it was really cool! As if the food being incredible wasn't enough to make you come here, I have to mention the amazing service that we had. Liana was our waitress and she was a sweetheart! She was efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Dana, the restaurant manager, came to greet us and check on us and she was so friendly and accommodating as well. Everyone we encountered was smiling and welcoming from the hostess to the bartenders to the chefs. And this place is so clean and nicely decorated. I will recommend to all of my family and friends. I selected this place because they have a nice private room suitable for meetings. I've been here for a club meeting once before. Overall the restaurant is very nice and the staff is pleasant and efficient, although this time somehow the server failed to bring one of our party of 12 their dinner! However when made aware they brought it out ASAP and comped it. This particular night they had a special on PEI oysters for just $1 ea. These normally cost $3 ea, even on Prince Edward Island! They were fresh and delicious and I could have easily crushed 2 dozen but settled for just 6 since I wasn't picking up the tab. This night I had the César salad followed by the pork shank. I thoroughly enjoyed both. Most everyone in our party enjoyed it too. I would recommend this place and return. read more

We have not been disappointed with any of the meal choices but I will tell you their potato pizza and the crusty Brussel sprouts are insanely good! The manager seated us and was very polite and helpful! He seemed to really take pride in his restaurant. The waiter himself was a tab slow near the end of the night but otherwise a good dinner for decent cost - also great location close to home!
