My mom and I came here for lunch today 4/16. It was a beautiful day, so we sat out on the patio. They have a water feature and it is so pretty and relaxing. We had their special which was a prime rib sandwich and omg I died a little. I could have drunk the au jus but I had some wine instead lol! We each had a wine flight and dessert, which was phenomenal. My mom had the cannolis and I had the tiramisu and both were delicious. Our service was excellent. We took home a bottle of the Malbec and Pinot Gris :) definitely recommend checking out for lunch or dinner. It's such a nice ambiance whether dining inside or out. read more

I arrived for a baby shower and was intrigued by the outside seating which people were gathered around the fire pit enjoying adult beverages. Once inside the walls are covered with stone to look like a cave the ceiling is covered with plastic. Beverage orders were taken and I ordered a fresh brewed ice tea and received a glass of iced coffee - what kind of mistake is that! Appetizer was spinach artichoke dip which was very runny the bread accompanied the dip was very good. Also had vegetables and dip. I had the Cesar lettuce wrap which came with a basic salad. The menu lists foods such as charcuterie, omelets, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, crab cakes, pastas, flat-iron steak, and tiramisu. Some vegan and gluten-free options are available. The drink menu includes many wines from Bella Terra Vineyards as well as cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. Cabins and, during the winter, igloos may be reserved for a fee. So far, my husband and I have been a customer of The Wine Cave twice. In winter 2023, I reserved one igloo bubble dome online for a 2-hour visit for a fee. An employee in the restaurant took our order for food and drinks. The weather outside was below freezing, but the interior of the igloo was warm because of a stove. The stove, though, did cause condensation to form on the walls of the igloo and to occasionally drip down. The igloo had eight chairs, a couple of small tables, and some blankets. While my husband and I waited on our foods to be cooked, we roasted marshmallows over a fire pit outside. An employee incorrectly delivered our foods to another customer in a nearby igloo, and that customer brought the foods to us. In 2025, my husband and I ate lunch inside the restaurant. The dining room contained reclaimed birch trees, artificial stalactites and cave paintings, and water. We were the only customers there, and we waited over 30 minutes for our foods to be brought out. The waitress did speak nicely to us and did check in on us later. Here are my reviews for our foods from both meals: S'mores - 5 stars - A s'mores kit contained the perfect amount of ingredients for my husband and I to each make two tasty s'mores. The kit included graham crackers, a Hershey's chocolate bar, and four large marshmallows. The fire pit worked well to roast our marshmallows. Spinach and artichoke dip - 5 stars - This dip looked and tasted differently than other restaurants' dips, but my husband and I really enjoyed the flavor from the cheddar cheese and garlic. The dip was served with many pieces of flat bread, which had a perfectly crispy exterior and chewy interior. My husband described this appetizer as "probably the best ever"! Apple-pecan salad - 5 stars - This salad was a large size, and it consisted of fresh and flavorful mixed greens, feta cheese, dried cranberries, apple chunks, pecans, and balsamic vinaigrette. Turkey-melt sandwich - 4.5 stars - This sandwich contained roasted turkey, chipotle-lime mayo, applewood bacon, avocado smash, smoked gouda cheese, and romaine lettuce. On the side were crispy fries. Shrimp diavola - 4.5 stars - I ordered this entree twice. It consisted of penne noodles, juicy shrimps, spinach, and a spicy tomato sauce. Ricotta and meatballs pizza - 3 stars - My husband commented that this pizza had toppings that were too chunky and insufficiently spread out. I thought that the ingredients tasted very fresh. Trico di crema - 4.5 stars - This slice of sponge cake was moist from milk, had a sweet icing, and had fresh berries on top. Peanut-butter temptation - 4.5 stars - This dessert had a peanut-butter center and a chocolate exterior. Winterbella and Diamond Reo wines - 4 stars - My husband and I are not wine connoisseurs. We selected two wines that we expected to taste grapey and sweet, and these wines tasted good. Cider - 4 stars - We ordered the Violet Cider that was supposed to taste like sweet blackberries, and we thought that it tasted good. House riesling - 4.5 stars - I enjoyed the flavor of this semi-sweet white wine. read more

Eclectic v. just weird decor. The outside has a gravel parking lot. Outside seating options: fire pit, garden shed, grotto, & stone archway. Inside "stone" walls with plastic sheets ceiling. We heard dogs barking/running around above us perhaps a groomer (?). The wine drinkers liked the variety of options. The lunch portions were substantial. The gnocchi was much more fluffy than dense. I took half home leaving me comfortable. The fries with the chicken wrap were very good. The individual pizza was just enough for a lunch portion. What a fun experience in the winter time! I definitely recommend the igloo seating - it was a cozy spot for a good dinner and good wine! My chicken caesar wrap was standard bar food, and it hit the spot. I got a wine flight of all dry reds. You can request your own flight! I asked the waitress to give me a flight of the driest reds, and they were excellent! I appreciate she gave me two not on the menu. The food is good bar food, and the service is good. The outdoor setup is very cute and great place to hang out. The inside is an attempt to LOOK like a cave but looks like a DIY project. The wine was ok. I wouldnt go for the food? It was overpriced for the quality. Meatball starter was the best thing we ate, it was really good. Brie,,,,,dont bother. I have never seen a brie round so small and thin. Served with toasts that will break your teeth! Jerk chicken flatbread was good but missing real jerk seasoning. Gnocci....just ok. Such a cute little place. Met some friends here for a late lunch. The place was empty and the bartenders and servers were very attentive. We all ordered wine flights, shared charcuterie and ordered meals. I ordered the shrimp diavolo which was okay, I asked for not spicy and it seemed a little bland so I probably should have kept it spicy but it had both options on the menu. Bella Terra has a great wine selection so that is always enjoyable. They now carry other local drinks like the Stateside and Surfside seltzers - so good! What a perfect spot to spend some time with a friend. Two of us met for drinks and dinner. We ended up sharing the hummus plate and the charcuterie board. Both were wonderful. We were happy to learn the wine flights are buy one get one half off on Thursdays. So, of course, we went with them. There are sets of 4 wines offered to choose from or you can select your own. Melissa was a delight have as our server. She was friendly, kind and knowledgeable. She made great suggestions as well as proving us with attentive service all evening. There is one thing that could make the appetizers even better: they need to be served with some kind of utensils so that guests can easily serve themselves. We had to find creative ways to serve the jam, mustard, olives and feta, and use our fingers for the rest of the other food items. Since we ate from our forks, we only had our knives to work with. We would have preferred to have some small spoons served with the sauces in appetizers, and some picks in the cheese and meets to keep from using our fingers. we are in our 60's and70's. When we booked and when we arrived we informed them we were celebrating our anniversary. We were basically ignored. The table beside us a younger couple sat. The owner came out to chat and gave them a complimentary glass of wine. Our special occasion was totally ignored. Restaurants who discount older patrons due themselves a great disservice. Very cute and unique spot! If you don't have a reservation (they don't take reservations for 2) it is a seat yourself type deal. We went around 5:30 on a Saturday and had no problem finding a seat! I ordered the sweet wine flight and if you're not super big on wine this was perfect!! It honestly tasted like juice it was so good I could've downed a whole bottle of each. My boyfriend got the red wine flight and it wasn't his favorite, he also preferred the sweet. We started with a charcuterie board and it was $22 for such a small plate so that's where I removed a star because it was WAY overpriced. Simple ingredients and not nearly enough of it. I ordered the Turkey Melt and it was actually really good!! I'm a big turkey sandwich connoisseur and even though it was really simple I thought it was delicious and the chips paired with it were great. My girlfriend and I aren't big wine people but we wanted to try something new and the wine cave was a great little date night spot! The vibes are very romantic and gets you in the mood for having a glass of wine. The place is very small so I wouldn't recommend going there with a huge group of people. The waitresses/bartenders/staff just walk around and wait on the tables and they keep the bill at the bar, so it's not your traditional restaurant type setting. Very unique. Everyone we dealt with was super friendly and helpful. Aside from the wine flights, which were very good. We ordered the charcuterie board as an app and it was very disappointing, in terms of quantity and in taste, just wasn't good. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and it was also okay, the serving size was good but it didn't have enough sauce and tasted very bland. This was our first visit. Walked in and they greet you. You're immediately in the cave. Walked through to view the seating arrangements. They have outdoor seating near and away from the place. They had cider and beer and snacks. Loved this place. Cute setup, the ladies greeted us and were friendly and helpful during the process. All of the wine is from Bella Terra Vineyards and Wi wry. We had such a fun girls night here a couple of weeks ago. You order your food and drinks at the counter and then its all to go style. Tons of food options (appetizers, pasta, pizza etc). We had the spinach artichoke dip which was delicious and I had the short rib pasta which was also really good. Nothing too fancy or anything but good food. The only down side was trying to do a wine tasting (they will do $5 wine tastings of five wines which is great, but you have to stand at the bar for it which was hard when they were busy on a friday night). The wine was just okay but enjoyable enough. The staff was great and helpful. Definitely need a reservation for a table though. Pittsburgh really needs more winery-like spots, so we were excited to finally try Hartwood Wine Cave. We made sure to book reservations far in advanced for an outdoor igloo with friends. I am so sad to report that our experience did not live up to any of our expectations. Our whole party seemed to agree that there is significant room for improvement here. We hope that some of the issues will be addressed in the coming months so we feel inclined to visit again. *Removing a star for the igloo and the poor value of the rental experience. *Removing a star for the quality of the food we ordered, and *removing a star for the visit overall (parking/patron experience). *Added a star for the tasty wine, *and added a star the fun/unique vibe of the wine cave. Igloo: $40 gets you a two hour outdoor heated igloo reservation. This includes a coffee table in an igloo with metal chairs only. While the igloo was cute (loved all the twinkle lights!) and a unique/fun vibe for a night out with friends, we were disappointed to learn that our rental didn't include a server, anyone taking care of us or even any water to drink. We felt the value really fell short here. Anytime our party needed something(a drink, to pick up your food when it's ready, a refill,) which was often, you have to walk inside and wait in line with everyone else to be helped. I felt like we spent a large majority of our $40 2 hour rental waiting inside in line to be helped. I don't believe this was worth the cost. Food: Food was unfortunately a huge miss for all of us. We all decided if we ever visit again we would eat before we go. Food was very expensive, under seasoned and someone made the comment that the food felt reheated and not fresh. One example: Our "jumbo" pretzel for the table was two standard frozen / oven pretzels. The pretzel dip was good though. I ordered a quesadilla that was listed on the menu with sour cream and salsa and when I picked up the take out style food inside and brought it to the igloo, they were missing. The menu listed bread with the pasta and when I asked for it, they charged for it. When I asked for something to dip in the extra pretzel dip, they charged for it. Drinks: We all enjoyed our wine and drinks. This was definitely one of our favorite things about our visit. My personal favorite is the blanc de blanc sparkling. Visit/experience: When we arrived there was no parking to be found. It was a little chaotic for everyone. It caused some vehicular traffic and a little bit of panic of where we were going to put our cars. They eventually pointed us to the additional parking up top and hired a valet which seemed to slightly help, but be prepared to tip (another added expense we weren't aware of) . I still can't get over that Hartwood doesn't offer any complimentary water to their patrons of any kind. The only option is to wait in line and buy a plastic bottle. We all kept feeling nickel & dimed / pressured to spend more money for things we weren't prepared for throughout the whole visit. This is never fun for anyone. I hope they consider adding pitchers, dispensers, or even fountains for their customers. Ambiance: the outdoor space is cute with several small firepit areas and places to gather. We also liked the fountain inside and the unique "cave" feeling of the venue. Live music was good. If we visit again, we will visit during the week when it's less busy, things are better under control and eat before we go. read more

Invited by a friend who had recently been before for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised to find a fun chill vibe at a neighborhood corner wine nook on the ground level of a converted house. There is a private parking lot and additional parking spots on the road above. They did a nice job with shrubbery and flowering plants to dampen the noise from being located along the road. We sat outside on the gravel patio sipping on their frozen wine beverage on a warm summer Wednesday evening listening to an acoustic guitar duo. The patio was pretty full with the majority of patrons being in groups and a mix of ages within the groups but almost all the groups had an older crowd in the mix. As for food, it's pasta, flatbread pizzas, and salads. Note, there is no table service, you order your beverages and drinks at the bar inside. The bar staff is really wonderful! They are packing all orders in to-go containers even if eating there and sell bottled water. I enjoyed my entree and slushy.
