Had a great lunch at Tu y Yo Cafe today. The restaurant is welcoming and has lots of interesting items to browse and to admire. The food was excellent and the service was great. I'll definitely be back to try some more items from the menu .

Tu Y Yo is a casual restaurant that serves Latin American foods and beverages. The menu lists several flavors of arepas, which are bread-like cornmeal patties that are filled with various meats, beans, cheeses, vegetables, etcetera. The menu also lists a few flavors of empanadas and other foods. Furthermore, on shelves are packages of foods that are imported from other countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, and Venezuela. My husband and I ate lunch here on a weekend. Another customer was being served ahead of us, so we waited for several minutes before we placed our order. Two employees cooked all of the foods as made-to-order, and they brought out the foods one-by-one. Some tables and chairs were available to sit at. Here are my reviews for the foods and drink: Vegetable empanada - 3.5 stars - This empanada was made from a crispy dough that was filled with a vegetable mixture. Domino arepa - 5 stars - This arepa contained black beans and white cheese, and I enjoyed the flavors very much. Sifrina arepa - 4 stars - This arepa contained shredded chicken, gouda, and avocado. My husband ate all of it, and he seemed to like it. Americana arepa - 4 stars - My husband also ate this American-style arepa, which was filled with bacon, egg, and cheese. Jarritos Mexican mandarin soda - 5 stars - This soda had a wonderful flavor of mandarin orange.

A very cute and cozy local cafe. The owners have all sorts of treats from different Latin American countries. They have a decent menu of coffee drinks but also food (empanadas, arepas, pastries). We tried an empanada and some arepas and they were delicious! Also the sweetened coffee drink (made with steamed condensed milk) was amazing. Our favorite food was the chicken arepa! They are still working on their pace and timing so it can take a bit to get your food but the customer service was great. A fun place to hangout and grab a bite if you are not in a hurry!

Spotted this cafe while visiting the city. They have a limited menu (drink and food) but they have plans to expand it to include a variety of things from different Latin American countries. The music and decor are right on point and they also sell a number of Latin products. We ordered a few arepas, a chicken empanada, and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was delicious and had lots of flavor. The arepas and Cuban were each very filling. I also had the chicha with condensed milk and it was fantastic! Not sure how long the cafe has been open but service was a bit slow and we noticed a few customers leave while we waited because they weren't acknowledged. Despite the wait (our order was on the larger side), I'd visit again because everything was so good!

Love Tu y Yo Cafe!! Their empanadas always hit the spot. This cafe is opposite side of town from where I live so when I am in the area I always make a point to stop! Not the best tables to set up a laptop as they are smaller but I always find joy in getting to stop in between appointments and fire up my computer while I grab a bite to eat. Service is always friendly and prompt. I'm not sure who's coffee beans they serve but they have the best coffee!!

I've been here a few times. The food is always so fresh! The crust on the empanadas is amazing! I usually get 2-3. I tried a Cubano once and it was so good, straight off the grill. It was huge though. I had ordered empanadas too and ended up bringing half the sandwich home.

Stopped in yesterday on a drizzly Friday morning and was so happy with how cozy and warm Tu Y Yo feels! Lots of cool decor on the walls and they've done a really good job with the place. Lots of barstools to sit at and the service was friendly and quick. The Empanadas were really good and piping hot and the hot chocolate we ordered was also quite good and had rich flavor. Lastly, we also ordered one of the chicken arepas to share and the arepa was loaded with chicken and avocado and so so good! Hope to be back for more soon!

Delicious cheese bread, especially when heated up.

Went to Tu y Yo last Saturday for my birthday. I studied in Argentina during college so I was happy to have traditional South American Food. My husband enjoyed the cortadito. We both really enjoyed the empanadas. They were loaded with ground beef and the Argentinian Style which I much prefer. My husband is half Colombian so he doesn't normally like this style since the wrap is different in both versions. He really liked this one. We also liked the pico de gallo that came with it. It was so sweet. The cheese bread was so good. We love to get it when we go to Brazilian Steakhouses. The alfajores (cookies with caramel inside and powdered sugar) were very good. She was out of arepas so we'll have to come back and try those and other sandwiches. What a cute little place! I love talking to the lady behind the counter about South America, which is one of my favorite places in the world. We'll definitely be back.

    Cuban sandwich

I just went here for the first time and I am blown away! I have never had a Cuban sandwich before so I don't have anything to compare this to, but all I can say is: wow!! I will definitely be back. Everything tastes made-from-scratch. I also had a mocha latte. I don't get those from a lot of other places because I typically don't like the chocolate that's used in them. I don't know what it was about this one but I sucked it down so fast. It was delicious!! The owners were absolutely so sweet and you can tell that they pour a lot of love into this business. If the owner see this, please open up a location in Sarver! . We are dying for something good and different out there!

The food and atmosphere were incredible! The staff were also extremely friendly, kind, and welcoming. I definitely will be returning and would recommend this to anyone who loves a cozy cafe atmosphere with delicious food, pastries, and coffee!

Delicious, piping hot empanadas (beef and chicken) and a sifrina arepa! Also got a toddy hot chocolate since I'm not a coffee drinker. All of it was so good! Great flavors, fresh, and filling. We came on a very rainy morning and the cafe was so warm and inviting! Owners were very friendly and loved interacting with our one year old son. Plenty of seating and fun gifts and treats available for purchase. We will definitely be back!

Super cute space with food items for sale organized by country of origin.

A super cute find in an unexpected locale. The layout is bright and cheerful. There's a corner for kids to play. They had good vegetarian options including a beet and feta arepa.

The restaurant is cozy and has a small variety of Latin American cuisine, with focus on Peruvian. Wine was not available that evening for some reason, so I went to a street vendor and purchased a 1/2 of an open bottle, and headed back to Torogoz. I decided to order the Lomo Saltado, which I hadn't had in Pittsburgh. The dish had tender well seasoned filet mignon plus skinny fries and couscous. It's a reflection of Chinese influence on Peruvian culinary . I really enjoyed it. Chef Julio stopped by to say which was lovely. We chatted a little bit about moving from California to Pittsburgh. Nice to hear that he settled in nicely with his family and is happy to call Pittsburgh home. Jenny, his wife, was also helping that evening. It was a pleasure speaking with them. I was surprised to receive a corkage fee of $15 without proper communication. I only brought an already uncorked half a bottle due to the BYOB circumstances, but they did remove it when I questioned it. I wish success to the business and hope that more people come to enjoy the Latin American flavors of Torogoz in Sewickley

I usually avoid eating at Mexican restaurants in Pittsburgh, as I'm always disappointed with the quality of the food. Most restaurants seem to use premade ingredients, which is insane cause Mexican food cooked fresh is usually not that hard or expensive. Not with buenatarde, everything we ordered was made in house. The refried beans and rice tasted almost as good as my grandmothers use to cook. Not quite, but close! The carnitas tasted really good, the only issue we had was it was a tad dry. Not sure if it was overcooked, but it did taste good. Otherwise, everything else was great and we will be returning to try the brunch on a weekend.

If I hadn't been here before, I would probably rate my Gaucho experience four stars, but this spot (I hate when people say this, and I hate when I sound like those people!) just isn't what it used to be. Dammit. I went there. I had my favorite sandwich--the braised beef. It used to have a really nice, pronounced rosemary flavor. Not so much anymore. And it used to come on a really beautiful slab (not an overstatement) of Gaucho's delicious focaccia. Now it's on an ordinary roll that doesn't stand up to that slow cooked, beef. The beef was still good and tender and flavorful, and the portion is still generous, but the sandwich overall isn't the knockout it once was. It wasn't a bad sandwich. It was a good sandwich. But it wasn't the sandwich I went for. My husband's carne sandwich was on the same ho-hum roll. (Bring back the focaccia as sandwich vehicle, guys!) The beef was flavorful with that nice Gaucho char, but it was a little chewy and hard to eat. Like my sandwich, the bread was the crime here. It was a decent sandwich, but a shadow of its former self. The potatoes...the travesty of the table were the greasy, small, overly charred flimsy potatoes. Maybe you'll remember the roasted papas from the old Gaucho days: chunky, crispy on the outside, toasty and roasty, served up in a wooden bowl. These were definitely not that. (Also, does anyone remember that old-time Strip District Gaucho bowl of corn? The best best best.) The service was very fast and very friendly. The gentleman who brought our food brought us a complimentary dish of all four chimmis--which was so nice, and they are exactly the same as they've always been and absolutely delicious. (Pimenton will always win first place for me. Slather it on a piece of cardboard and I might eat it.) Overall, our meal was fine, but I'm sad to know that Gaucho at its best is in our rear view.
