    Pork was delicious.

Just found out that we actually have Cuban food in Pittsburgh and immediately had to try it. We were warmly greeted by the owners when we came in despite coming twenty minutes before closing. They were so nice and let us stay there to eat. We were going to take it home to eat it. They did a great job decorating the place. It looks so cute. The entire menu looked delicious. We wanted one of everything. They also make fresh baked goods which all looked amazing. My husband got the pork and absolutely loved it. I had the picadillo (ground beef) was amazing. We came back from FL a few weeks ago where we had Cuban food and I never thought I could have it in Pittsburgh. So happy we now have this option. We got beef empanadas and tres leches cake to go. Looking forward to trying those tomorrow. There's so much food that we have leftovers for tomorrow. If you like Latin food, you must run here and try it. Bonus, it's in the plaza down the street from the Roxian. I'll definitely be coming here before concerts.

Suuuper cute little Cuban spot in McKees Rocks! I was so excited to try this place as soon as I saw it! The music, decor, and the domino table add to the whole experience. Beautiful handmade pastries at the counter. Service was super friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was at the home of someone I've known for years. I ordered the Sunday dinner, which was pork, yellow rice, red beans, pico, and maduros. The garlic sauce and pick added so much flavor to everything! The pork was tender and juicy. The rice and beans also had a ton of flavor. I am obsessed with the maduros. They had the perfect texture, not super oily, and the little bit of salt just made them even sweeter! 100/10 experience.

A gem of a spot. The staff are awesome...super friendly and passionate about their food. The Cuban eggroll had a great crunch. Mojo pork sandwich was excellent...perfectly braised pork and bread super fresh. Pulled beef was super tender and rice had some character without being salty (raw onion added texture). Couldn't ask for much more and can't wait to try more on the menu!

I don't even like Cuban sandwiches. Until now. Very flavorful. The service is great, the aroma will take over as son as you walk in.

It was very good and the decor was well done. It felt like you were in a cafe in Cuba. The Cuban sandwich and the flan were outstanding!

The sauce that came with it was also delicious! They kindly made the sweet potato fries without salt for our baby, and she loved them! The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu, and was able to tell us which dishes did not contain tree nuts. There is only one dish on the menu that contains peanuts. He also kindly brought a plastic cup with a lid for our daughter, which we really appreciated. The atmosphere was great as well. It becomes even more romantic and perfect for a date with candles in the evening. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and were able to easily find a table without waiting in line. I would especially recommend this restaurant to people with tree nut allergies because they have many menu options that do not contain tree nuts.

They also offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which was a nice touch. We started with the Pineapple Mango Tomatillo Salsa and both ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi Tacos. Everything was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The salsa and tacos had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors without either overpowering the other. One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Highly recommend Kaya!

The food is always INCREDIBLE, the menu stays fresh and interesting, and you can tell how much care goes into every dish. They update it almost every week!!! But keep the classics. Their menu changes seasonally, and it currently lists food such as fries, Cuban sandwich, chicken-tortilla soup, tagliatelle, flat-iron steak, and Hokkaido scallops. I met a friend here for one dinner. The setting was more on the casual side rather than fine dining. (I wore jeans and a blouse.) I have eaten authentic foods in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, and I thought that the menu was slightly influenced by these regions. The waitress and waiter spoke nicely with us. Our dinner that included a BYO wine (with a $5 charge per person), appetizer, entree, and dessert lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes. The foods had strong flavors, and we both enjoyed everything that we ate. For appetizers, my friend and I shared the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which also contained carrots, pecans, and a dressing, and the Hot Low Country Crab Dip, which contained a good amount of crab meat and was served with crunchy toast. For entrees, I ate the Cutler-cove Salmon, which was accompanied with asparagus, potatoes, and a spicy jerk sauce and habanero purée, and my friend ate the Arugula Salad, which contained fresh arugula, baby carrots, goat cheese, olives, and hot honey. For dessert, I ate the Kentucky Bourbon Cheesecake, which was topped with pecans, caramel, and whipped cream, and my friend ate the Maple Panna Cotta with raspberries.

Didn't totally line up with…read morethe hype/praise, but it was definitely good and we want to return and try other things. The unassuming old bank building is easy to find. Street parking behind it wasn't tough. There's a warning on the front door that this is a "takeout" establishment -- but there were plenty of tables. You can totally dine there! If you want alcohol, then definitely get your food to go. This is another place that has sadly gone person-free at the front with an ordering tablet. You lose so much in the lack of warm greeting, lack of assistance with ordering, etc. I don't like this tech trend! Setting that aside, we were able to order fairly easily. We had to fish around in the menu to find descriptions --- the print-outs and overhead menu had no details. The food: I had -- and would recommend -- the Flava Bowl with shrimp. That bowl was so packed, the lid almost didn't fit! Roughly 10 medium-sized sautéed shrimp over rice & peas (you get a choice of that or maduros or rice), with perfectly-cooked plantains & sautéed onions and red peppers. I had them add avocado. A good add, AND --- I sprinkled on some of their house made green hot sauce, a nice citrusy bit of heat. My husband was less high on his dish, the plantain sandwich- aka, the Jibarito with pollo ala plancha. He said it was quite dry, but it got better as he got some of the sauce (not sure what it was). It took 30 minutes to get our food, but the poor guy in the kitchen was totally alone fixing all of these orders (cooking, packing them up)! He was so apologetic; we felt bad for him. Our meal was good, though. The place clearly has a lot of heart. We'll definitely be back. Gotta try the mofongo.
