The chicken and sides are perfect to share with a group. I like how tender the chicken is. Green chile sauce was amazing. Service was okay, no complaints.
Chicken Latino is such a gem in our neighborhood. I'm a big fan of their Shrimp Cerviche. It's light and tasty for summer days. Their Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken is also amazing - but be sure to add some of their tasty green sauce. Beyond the food, the staff are always super welcoming and lovely!
Man, Beechview has some FUCKING GEMS My buddy @willkoz has been telling me to go here for about a year now. I never knew where it was until I went to Alquisiras and saw they're legit connected. That was my sign to get here fast Chicken Latino. GET anything with their fucking rotussy. We both got the burrito and it did not miss. It was simple. Rice, cheese and their DYNAMITE rotisserie chicken. It needs nothing more. The perfect burrito The quesadilla. I have had them yes, but I have never ordered one in my life. 99% of places that sell them are not packing them. I was legit shocked when it came out. They did not skimp in the slightest. The pork was juicy, didn't need to chew it like a dog and flavored well. I would never recommend a quesadilla in my life but they have changed my mind completely The Birria pizza. Awesome ?? Yeah. It is. They packed it and the portion is huge and it tasted solid. It's just after having Alquisiras next door I don't think I'll have any birria touch their's in a good bit This place is still fucking awesome. Great food, great service, great portions, tons of seating inside. Very family friendly spot. I will be returning to grab tacos next door and a full rotisserie chicken
Chicken Latino, an authentic Peruvian restaurant located on Broadway Avenue in Beechview, serves contemporary Peruvian cuisine inspired by a fusion of flavors from around the world. Chef, owner, and manager Shelbin Santos is the sweetest woman and incredibly talented in the kitchen. She even imported a special wood-fired brick oven from Peru, allowing her to cook signature dishes in a truly authentic Peruvian style. The food is absolutely fantastic! While there, I had the chance to try a variety of dishes. To start, we quenched our thirst with traditional Peruvian Inka Cola, a popular and delicious fruity drink with hints of coconut, banana, and pineapple--refreshing and unique! We also tried chicha morada, a traditional and healthy purple corn juice that is both sweet and flavorful. As we browsed the incredible menu, we snacked on warm, freshly made corn tortilla chips with salsa--an irresistible start! For the main dishes, the lomo saltado was a standout. This traditional Peruvian-Asian beef stir fry, served with white rice over fries, was bursting with flavor. The chicken quesadilla was massive--a 12" tortilla stuffed with chicken, rice, beans, and Mexican cheese, served with sour cream and salsa. It was the biggest, cheesiest, most satisfying quesadilla I've ever had! One of the highlights of the meal was the Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, a staple of their menu. The chicken is marinated overnight in their secret seasonings and roasted to perfection in the authentic brick oven. Served with house-made spicy green chili sauce, it was juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Their green chili sauce is so fresh and tasty that they even sell it by the bottle! We ordered the rotisserie chicken combo, which allowed us to sample some of their signature sides--rice and beans, plantains, and yuca--all incredibly fresh and well-prepared. Their burritos are also huge, with various filling options. I opted for chicken, which was stuffed inside a soft tortilla with rice, beans, and Mexican cheese--all for under $10! Talk about a steal! To top it all off, I was surprised with a slice of their tres leches cake, a rich and moist three-milk cake topped with caramel and strawberries. It was the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal. If you're looking for authentic Peruvian flavors, generous portions, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Chicken Latino is a must-visit!
If you're not hungry, you should go somewhere else. You will look at this menu and think the food is pricey. What you've gotta keep in mind is that everything here is XXL. Until recently, I've only ordered takeout from Chicken Latino, but I finally stopped to dine in and it was a terrific, quiet little spot with very attentive service, a clean and cheerful dining room, and really great, hot, giant food. My husband and I split a chicken quesadilla and still didn't finish it. The quesadillas are big, but also LOADED with chicken, cheese, beans, and rice. (Get the green hot sauce; it's as hot as can be, but flavorful.) We also ordered a basket of yuca fries that would have been plenty for four people. We had ordered before, like I said, so we knew that this would be *plenty* of food for two of us. We laughed because while we were there, there were two young guys in the back of the dining room who were clearly first-timers and when their food came out they were literally cheering and exclaiming about how big their food/order was. Chicken Latino is worth your time for quantity AND quality--really great.
I received some of the best customer service of any Pittsburgh restaurant at this place. And, the food was some of the best Latin American food I've had in a while as well. I got to try out their Peruvian chicken combo meal with chicken, yellow rice, beans, sweet plantains, yucca fries, and spicy green sauce, as well as their tres leches cake. Everything was delicious. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. Perfectly cooked, and not too fatty at all. The yucca fries were still crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and went perfectly with the green sauce, which was (as they said) quite spicy. The sweet plantains were also delicious and came in a great portion. Caramel iced well and thoroughly cooked. I like that they kept the beans separate, and they were really good as well. Almost fully melted in a way, that's how creamy they seemed. Went well with the rice, which was soft but a bit plain. The tres leches was one of the best tres leches I've had in Pittsburgh. So soft, sweet, and delicate. The perfect amount of each of the milks. And, it looked pretty beautiful as well. All in all, I highly recommend this place. One of the hidden gems of Beechview. Very nice owner, great customer service, amazing food and great portions.
My wife and I made the trek up the hill to Beechview last weekend just to try Chicken Latino and we enjoyed it! We sat outdoors on an unseasonably warm October evening. A bit noisy along the main road where the T runs but generally pleasant. The restaurant is very small inside so there is not too much seating. Based on the food I bet they would do great take-out. Speaking of the food, it was heavy and tasty! We started with yuca fries, which were like very dense and starchy thick-cut steak fries. We dipped them in the house special green chili sauce (which packed a punch) as well as some Mayo. Both good, very different flavors! My wife got a 1/4 chicken with rice and cole slaw. The chicken literally fell off the bone - so soft and moist. The rice had a lot of flavor too, although the cole slaw just okay (very creamy, not much cabbage). I got the house special - Lomo Saltado. It was HUGE! A pile of tender beef over red onion, a bit of pepper, savory rice, and regular steak fries, all with a light gravy sauce. You could say we had ourselves a filling meal with lots of left-overs. Definitely worth the trip!
This would've been a 5 star review had it been based on my first few experiences, but my last experience was a 3 star at best. I arrived for an early dinner. Ordered the half chicken and it was dry as a bone. Service was wonderful, but the chicken had clearly been sitting for quite some time. I love the spicy sauce, rice and coleslaw, but as soon as the chicken came, I could tell it wasn't as fresh as it could've been. Now I understand that rotisserie chicken can't be made to order. However, maybe there could be cross utilization of the older rotisserie chickens. I will undoubtably go here again as the chicken quesadilla is the best I've ever had hands down. Overall this is an excellent restaurant. Highly recommend.
A hidden gem in Beechview! The most tender and flavorful rotisserie chicken I've had. I ordered the Big Chicken Quesadilla and Jalapeño Poppers. Both came out very quickly after ordering, but were clearly freshly cooked for us. The Jalapeño Poppers were lightly breaded, stuffed with cheddar cheese, and fried. They weren't overly spicy, which I liked, and went well with the salsa dip they provided. The Big Quesadilla was by far the best chicken quesadilla I've had in quite some time. Firstly, it is giant, a whole foot long and fully stuffed with tender chicken, white rice, chedder cheese and black beans. It was extremely flavorful and the 3 sauces provided on the side made it even better! The red salsa was a mild spice that gave freshness to every bite. The sour cream added a more creamy texture. And the green sauce was a delicious spicy kick when drizzled on top. Definitely had half the quesadilla left over to enjoy for dinner the next day. Service was quick, but they did miss hear our drink orders which resulted in getting rice milk instead of orange Fanta, a $6 price difference. Overall, the food was delicious and a great experience! Just be prepared to pay a little more than you expect for typical Latio/Mexican food

I have been dying to stop in here for a while! So glad I found myself in the neighborhood recently. Their chicken is some of the most flavorful and moist chicken I have ever had! It is so so good! I've heard great things about the chicken quesadilla so I ordered one for my daughter and I to share. This thing is MASSIVE! If you don't LOVE cheese then order a different dish. The quesadilla is absolutely stuffed full of cheese. The rice and beans also had great flavor but I couldn't get over the chicken! The fried plantains were also delicious! The spicy green sauce is SPICY- heavy with cilantro and so dang good! I've heard you can ask for it to be mixed with the sour cream which might tone down the spice but I liked it as it is. I'm not one for super sweet drinks but I really enjoyed the flaxseed pineapple tea drink. It wasn't overly sweet (while it does still contain quite a bit of sugar if you're reading labels). Service was friendly and food was served quickly. We'll definitely be back! read more
I have heard great things about Chicken Latino for years but only recently managed to try it out for the first time. The chicken definitely lived up to the hype! It was very flavorful and juicy. The yuca fries were a highlight for me. They only have one size, and it's really big, but you'll be glad to have so much. Our server was very nice and the food came pretty quickly. The inside is pretty small but there's a good number of tables. read more

What Ana amazing little restaurant! I have been dying to come here since I am obsessed with Peruvian chicken, and this place did not disappoint. As soon as I saw that they had only a few menu options, my hopes raised for the quality of the food. But they were even surpassed when I tasted it! The chicken was super tender and was served with a big portion of rice and beans! The green chili sauce that it was served with was phenomenal, and accompanied the chicken perfectly! The quesadilla was absolutely massive, and my girlfriend easily got two meals from it. It was served with rice and beans inside, along with chicken! I can't wait to be back here! The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and the amount of food that you get! read more

Woah! I definitely came here by accident and now this place is going to be on my lunch rotation. Service: Super quick and friendly, the servers were straight forward and gave my coworker and I the right amount of space. I never felt pressured to order quickly. The food came out at an impressive amount of time (less than 5 minutes of ordering). Food: Delicious! I ordered the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. I was impressed with the generous portions and the amount of flavor. The chicken was very juicy and full of flavor. I also really enjoyed the rice, it was very aromatic and I loved that light saltiness it had. It balanced the chicken very well. I also ordered a side of plantains and they were fried to perfection, slightly crispy on the edges yet plump and juicy on the inside. I don't know why I never gave this place a chance before. But I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit here!! There is also outdoor seating. I'm excited to enjoy my lunches here once the weather is nicer. read more

Delicious. Checked out after my other Peruvian spot downtown closed down in the pandemic & was no disappointed! The chicken has a nice seasoned crispy skin, and moist and juicy on the inside. Very flavorful. The rice and beans, simple but a great staple. The spanish yellow rice was done well, can definitely pick up on the tomato and the stock used to cook it. This and the chicken paired well with the green spicy sauce they serve it with. The plantains were heavenly, and what I look forward to most to accompany a saltier meal. The plantains were not overly ripe, and fried to sweet perfection. read more
First visit and won't be my last...will want to try other menu items. The rotisserie chicken was tasty with Peruvian spices but nothing crazy fancy'. The yucca fries are outstanding! Get em! If you're looking to try something different and want to not just support small business, but want to try true ethnic cuisine in a regional ambiance then definitely go here. I will be back. read more

I thought the chicken from here was pretty good but for the price I thought the portions were kind of small and the rice was bland. I really wish you could substitute the rice for the "premium" sides such as plantains, etc. as the substitution options for the rice are quite limited. Surprisingly the coleslaw was delicious and some of the best I've had but the portion was so small it was disappointing. The coleslaw was served in a sample cup that they use to give out samples at Costco... I think I should be getting a little more than that. Overall, good chicken but better portion sizes and more side options would be nice. read more

I have walked past Chicken Latino literally hundreds of times. It is usually overshadowed by two of my favorite food establishments in the strip which just so happen to be directly across the street: Pamelas and Edgars taco stand. This is probably the main reason I have never been to this establishment until recently. But that all changed when my sister and her husband (who are also foodies) kept talking about this "Chicken Latino" place. They explained to me where it was and it finally hit me, it's the colorful place across the street from my two favorite places to eat in the strip, no wonder I haven't ever been there! They told me to get the chicken burrito and yukka fries, then to mix the green sauce with mayo and put it on everything. This is exactly what I ordered, plus plantains because who doesn't love plantains?!?! The food came out extremely fast and extremely hot. I was blown away by the size of the portions. "This can't be?" I thought to myself... this food has to be more expensive... NOPE! You get gigantic portions for extremely reasonable prices that all taste wonderful! The chicken burrito was one of the best I've ever had. The yukka fries were so unique and tasty, they were fluffy and crunchy, salty and savory, like nothing I have ever had before! The plantains were cooked to perfection and on the sweeter side. I usually NEVER leave food on the table but this time I had to. So I boxed up the rest of my plantains and yukka fries and took them home which happened to taste even better later on! I can't believe I waited so long to go to this place! From now on I'm going to have to spin in a circle in the middle of 21st street with my finger out and whichever of my 3 favorite strip districs restaurants I land on will be where I eat! read more

The star of the show here is the spicy green chili sauce. As a spice lover, that sauce made the experience that much better. This place isn't upscale by any means, but it has what you could possibly need. Good food, fast service, and reasonable prices. CRISPY YUCA ($5.99): Yuca french fries. I think a bit too crispy but they did serve it to us fresh and hot, lightly salted. Tasty with ketchup and the green sauce!!! 1/2 CHICKEN W/ RICE & COLESLAW ($7.99): Pretty good. Honestly tastes like your average, juicy rotisserie chicken. But I'll say it was my first time having ~Peruvian~ chicken and they made it a delicious experience :)! Rice was yummy and definitely needed if you're having the green sauce too. Coleslaw to cool it down a bit. They didn't have the ceviche that day (winter time, less people so they didn't get ingredients around that time) which was so disappointing so maybe when I come back and have that it'll bump up to a 5. read more
Nice find while walking around the open air market. We were seated right away and split the 1/2 chicken with rice and beans. We also had an order for plantains. The chicken was seasoned nicely and very moist. The rice and beans were tasty mixed together. I loved the plantains!! Reasonably priced as well. The sauce on the table was spicy, but good. read more
This is like a secret hiding in plain sight. I think the first time I tried it was because I was tired of waiting in the line at Pamela's and it was lunch time anyway. I pretty much always get the same thing - chicken quesadilla (which is full of their amazing Peruvian rotisserie chicken, an insane amount of cheese, beans, and rice) and a side of either fried yuca or fried sweet plantains. This costs about $15 and is enough for two meals and a snack. In fact, it would be perfect to share. They have coke products (yay!) And some regional drinks I haven't tried yet. Staff is friendly, food is quick, place is clean, but most importantly, food that is consistently good. read more
