Heads up, this location in Lawrenceville is a food truck. Not hating on food trucks, but I wish I had known that before going. It was chilly - though being from So Cal I'm usually cold out here. With that out of that way, dang it was good! I normally don't like drinks with flavors that overpower the espresso, but with the mocka latte I had, that's exactly what I wanted. The bittersweet flavor of the cacao shone through, like a indulgent dark chocolate. Haters gonna hate, but dark chocolate is one of the purest forms, and each sip gave me exactly what I was looking for. As for the arepas... Well, I've never had one before, so I don't have a measuring stick for this, but I really liked mine! I had the breakfast arepa with bacon. Scrambled eggs, nice bacon chunks, cheese, a little green sauce, all sandwiched in what I can only describe as like corn flatbread pieces. So good and surprisingly filling! I will probably go to the brick-and-mortar shop next to see how it compares, but if you're in the Lawrenceville area and want a unique pick-me-up, this is a great option.

The plantains are sweet, which I don't think I personally like as much in the arepa on their own. The smoothie was good and felt healthy, not too sweet, which was good and was a decent size. The mokoa had great reviews from someone I was with, they said it was the top 3 they've ever had, so I will be back to try coffee drinks. Prices were on the average side of expensive for drinks (around $7) and the food was around good price ($7-8 per arepa). It is at a convenient location for me and they make the parking lot cute with a few tables (since they are a food truck).

The iced cold brew was delicious, and exactly what I wanted on a hot day (though probably more caffeine than I needed). I really appreciated that they had some vegetarian arepas on the menu, so I got a combo with the breakfast arepa and vegetable arepa. The combo comes with plantain chips, which were delicious. The oil and cilantro sauce (aji pique?) was fine but unnecessary. I should have probably tried the green chimi sauce. Packaging was easy, served in an open compostable box but easy to close up for transport as required. It's obviously a food truck and not a dine-in experience, but there is a small amount of seating if you need it. Overall, this is highly recommended. Good arepas. Good coffee. Good experience.

We were warmly/cheerfully greeted by the couple who own Milanes, a bright in a somewhat blighted strip shopping center in McKees Rocks. The colors and decor in this small space transport you to Cuba. But it's clearly the menu that's the star. My hubs & I got there far too early, but happily, that enabled us to try what was one of our fave meal items: Guava BBQ chicken bites. It wasn't clear that these are deep-fried, and while I wouldn't normally order deep-fried stuff, this was a happy moment for us. These things are like crack! Cooked perfectly and slathered perfectly in the sweet/tart sauce. Oh! Yum! (The woman who clearly makes the desserts and also was running the register offered to just keep a check open for us when we were ready to order entrees. Helpful!). The sisters in law arrived, and it was time to order. You order your food at the counter before sitting down. Our choices: *A tip first -- the red beans are *killer* - smoky yumminess! Try to get these with your dish! We didn't know this till we tried one of our SIL's dishes. * Milanes Imperial rice bowl: tender, slow-braised chicken shredded over (a lot) of yellow rice & black beans. Queso & yummy garlic sauce were drizzled over the top. Perfectly cooked, scrumptious sweet plantains (another fave!) were served on the side. Overall, the dish was good and quite filling - but we wished there was more garlic sauce. The fish was a bit dry. * La Completa rice bowl: similar to above but with ground beef and homemade pico de gallo. Good dish. * Havana Street Beef rice bowl: Probably the standout fave. The succulent, slow-cooked beef with those smoky red beans - hard to beat! Dessert --- none for us, but one of the SILs snagged a flan. It was chilled & the carmelized top had hardened into a rock-hard caramel candy, but wowzer, the creamy/carmelly flavor of the custard. YUM! Only regret ---- one of us should've ordered their highly-recommended Cuban sandwich! Maybe to try for next time: The homemade guava pastelito. Woah, it looked good. It's tucked inside a clear plastic tower near the cash register. Next time! We'll definitely be back.

The bread had that perfect texture, and the sandwich brought back memories of some of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had -- honestly, it was right up there with El Segundo in Tampa! Great Cuban food, generous flavors, and definitely a place I'd come back to. Highly recommend! Friendly service It's worth taking the drive over here from anywhere around Pittsburgh

The unassuming old bank building is easy to find. Street parking behind it wasn't tough. There's a warning on the front door that this is a "takeout" establishment -- but there were plenty of tables. You can totally dine there! If you want alcohol, then definitely get your food to go. This is another place that has sadly gone person-free at the front with an ordering tablet. You lose so much in the lack of warm greeting, lack of assistance with ordering, etc. I don't like this tech trend! Setting that aside, we were able to order fairly easily. We had to fish around in the menu to find descriptions --- the print-outs and overhead menu had no details. The food: I had -- and would recommend -- the Flava Bowl with shrimp. That bowl was so packed, the lid almost didn't fit! Roughly 10 medium-sized sautéed shrimp over rice & peas (you get a choice of that or maduros or rice), with perfectly-cooked plantains & sautéed onions and red peppers. I had them add avocado. A good add, AND --- I sprinkled on some of their house made green hot sauce, a nice citrusy bit of heat. My husband was less high on his dish, the plantain sandwich- aka, the Jibarito with pollo ala plancha. He said it was quite dry, but it got better as he got some of the sauce (not sure what it was). It took 30 minutes to get our food, but the poor guy in the kitchen was totally alone fixing all of these orders (cooking, packing them up)! He was so apologetic; we felt bad for him. Our meal was good, though. The place clearly has a lot of heart. We'll definitely be back. Gotta try the mofongo.
