    Plantain Arepa with Cheese
    Ulyana K.

Solid spot for Colombian food. Not too many places that sell this type of food in the area, and it's nice to see a small shop like this out in the Strip District. The service is quite quick and friendly. I tried out their arepa with plantain and cheese arepa, cheese bread, and empanadas colombianos. The cheese bread is a classic for Brazilian (and I suppose Colombian) places so it did not disappoint! Decent portion, nice chewy texture. It was what I wanted from this order. I ordered it with caramel sauce which made a near dessert out of this cheese bread. The empanadas Colombianos were a bit of a disappointment though. They were very hard and too crunchy. There might have been a bit of some kind of meat in there but lots of potato, which was a nice filling. It went well with the green side sauce, which was very fresh and flavorful. Side definitely saved these little empanadas (They are almost bite sized). My favorite item was the plantain and cheese arepa. First time I tried arepas, they were disappointing, but this place makes them delicious. The plantain is lightly sweet and cheese is stringy. Nice topping and very flavorful. All in all, a solid little Colombian place. It's easy to stop by and get a nice snack or breakfast when in the Strip District.

I stopped by here awhile ago now with my wife for our morning coffee. On Sundays we try to hit up local coffee places and on this Sunday our choice happened to be Columbino. It is a small stand located on the sidewalk right outside Reyna Foods on Penn Ave in the heart of the strip district. I had actually noticed it the last time I was in the strip district and was excited to see that they had empanadas and other food as well as coffee. On this morning I ordered myself a macadamia latte and my wife a mocca with real cacao. I also tried to order both the empanadas and the artisanal cheese bread but the cheese bread was being baked at that time and the empanadas weren't going to be baked until after that. Since I was excited about trying them it was a little disappointing but sometimes things like that happen. Beyond that I also ordered a drinking hot chocolate for my father in law and a cappicino for my mother in law. Since there was only one person working, it took about 15 minutes or so for our drinks to be made and ready which seemed a bit long. I think she was taking her time making them so that the artisanal cheese bread would be finished by the time the drinks were. Of course it could also be that these drinks were not your normal coffee drinks. In any case, I eventually had the cheese bread and all of the drinks in a carrier and I was off with them all to my waiting ride. The first thing that I tried once in the car was the pan de queso (cheese bread) since it was freshly baked. On my first bite I was surprised by the inside texture which was almost gummy like. That's not saying it's a bad thing as I think that's the texture it's supposed to be which was quite interesting. The more that I ate of it the more I ended up liking it and the cheese flavor started coming in more and more. After finishing those I tried my macadamia latte which the menu described as made from scratch with artisanal nut butters with Pamela raw sugar. I will have to say that it's unlike any latte I have had before. First off there were still tiny shards of macadamia nut in it which surprisingly worked for me. Then the nut butter itself gave a nice macadamia flavor and the extra spices were nice too. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both the food and the coffee were unlike anything else I have had in Pittsburgh and both were good too!

I ordered arepas. They were really good but I found them to be very pricey for what I got. Also I wish they had more vegetarian options. This place also serves good coffee. Service as expected.

I had been seeing ads for this place on Instagram constantly and always thought that it was some corporate company advertising Colombian coffee. Then, I stumbled upon it in the Strip District neighborhood in Pittsburgh, and it was fate. To begin, the man and the woman both waiting on me were extremely kind and informative on what each item was like. This was helpful as I had never really eaten or tried many things from Colombia. I settled with the coconut limeade, and it was perfect on that hot day. Excellent taste-- not too sweet nor sour! I also had an order of pão de queixo (their Colombian version, of course!). They were hot and fresh and tasted amazing. This place is a simple stall right outside of the Mexican grocer. It is easy to miss as it just looks like a normal food stall. However, they offer many specialties, and I am already itching to return!

Cold Brew with cold foam and dulce de leche. Empanadas Colombianas x 2

I don't even know what to say about this place besides that I am sooo mad that I didn't know about it sooner! We went for cold brew and of course couldn't not order food once we were surrounded by the delicious smells! The empanadas are superb. The crust is so crunchy and delicious. I've had a lot of empanadas in my day and their filling is really unique and I could probably eat a tray of them *chefs kiss* but the dipping sauce it comes with is literally out of this world. I need a jar of it. The Pan De Queso was also really really good. It came with dulce de leche dipping sauce and again very uniquely different than most dulce de leches that I've tried. This place seriously has its own flavors on regular classics and I am so happy that I am within a 8 minute drive of this place. Staff was super friendly and you can't beat being in the heart of the strip for some good people watching while you munch! I can't wait to try the guava and cheese croissant and the dulce de leche hot chocolate on my next visit!

When your first bite of an empanada is so delicious that you're immediately prompted to pull out your phone and yelp it? Yeah, that happened. Drinking chocolate also delicious, smooth, and not too over the top! The classic arepa was a little rich for my taste, but I also wasn't able to eat it right away so it may have been better hot!

Heads up, this location in Lawrenceville is a food truck. Not hating on food trucks, but I wish I had known that before going. It was chilly - though being from So Cal I'm usually cold out here. With that out of that way, dang it was good! I normally don't like drinks with flavors that overpower the espresso, but with the mocka latte I had, that's exactly what I wanted. The bittersweet flavor of the cacao shone through, like a indulgent dark chocolate. Haters gonna hate, but dark chocolate is one of the purest forms, and each sip gave me exactly what I was looking for. As for the arepas... Well, I've never had one before, so I don't have a measuring stick for this, but I really liked mine! I had the breakfast arepa with bacon. Scrambled eggs, nice bacon chunks, cheese, a little green sauce, all sandwiched in what I can only describe as like corn flatbread pieces. So good and surprisingly filling! I will probably go to the brick-and-mortar shop next to see how it compares, but if you're in the Lawrenceville area and want a unique pick-me-up, this is a great option.

Since 2021, my husband and I have eaten here off and on, and all of our meals have been excellent. The employees promptly and courteously serve us. Here are my ratings for the menu items that we ate: Tortilla chips with queso and guacamole - 4.5 stars - The tortilla chips had a good flavor. The queso tasted extremely cheesy. The guacamole was very freshly made. Beef empanada - 4.5 stars - The fried-dough exterior was perfectly crispy, and the beef filling was savory. I particularly enjoyed the green sauce on the side. Seafood empanada - 3.5 stars - This fried cornmeal pastry was filled with tilapia, shrimp, and vegetables. It was a large size, and the flavors were alright. Pabellon empanada - 4.5 stars - This fried cornmeal pastry contained black beans, white cheese, shredded beef, and sweet plantains. My husband ate it and said that he really liked it. Llanera chicken arepa - 5 stars - This arepa is my husband's favorite go-to. It was a very large size, and it was stuffed with much chicken, lettuce, tomato (although my husband does not like tomato), cheese, and guacamole. My husband commented that the combination of flavors was delicious. On the side was guasacaca, a tangy Venezuelan sauce that is made from avocados, green peppers, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and mayonnaise. Chicken quesadilla - 4 stars - A flour tortilla was filled with shredded chicken, cheese, onions, and peppers. The ingredients were very fresh, but the quesadilla tasted slightly plain even with the sides of guacamole and sour cream, so I dipped it in queso. Veggie quesadilla - 5 stars - A flour tortilla was stuffed with yellow cheese, green peppers, and onions. On the side were pico de gallo, lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream. I really liked the gooey cheese and the flavors of the vegetables. Soft tacos - 4.5 stars - My husband ate these tacos. One was filled with chicken, and the other was filled with pork. He seemed to enjoy them. Plantains - 5 stars - These fried plantains tasted very sweet, and they were topped with some cheese. The serving size was generous. Tres leches cake - 5 stars - A large slice of cake was soaked in three milks and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. I really enjoyed the taste of the sweet cake and the spicy cinnamon.
