MotherClucker Chicken sandwich
Marcia F.

Well ... I really hate to post bad reviews...but when you are a regular at a restaurant and have given them a LOT of $$$ and are treated as badly as we were, you would not be happy. Called in and talked to Trish ... Asked if we could get a seat near the fireplace around 6:30pm. Trish said that shouldn't be a problem ...and said "the later the better" I said ok great, I'll call back and confirm. I called back 5 minutes later and said we'll be there at 6:45, she said "Great see you then". Showed up at 6:50 with a new business partner and was told "sorry we can't seat you near the fireplace and you'll have to wait 30 minutes." I asked the young boy at the host stand if Trish was there and he said yes ... I told him she had agreed on having us in at 6:45. All of this is just bad ... But what happened next was what brought this review. The young man came back and said Trish said "I never told him that"! You embarrassed me in front of a new business partner ... Good luck Guys ... we won't be back!

We had a great dinner at Brick and Barrel. We got there at 6 pm and was immediately seated in the room near the fireplace. There was plenty of seating inside as most people were dining outside on the patio. Our waitress, Nikki, was very friendly and did a good job of serving us. I had the Mother Clucker chicken sandwich and was not disappointed. My wife had a cheese pizza and liked it a lot. There was a very good selection of draft beers at the full bar. They have a great bourbon selection as well. We would go back again.

Gosh, this hit the spot! Up and around doing errands in Blonox and remembering a nice little spot up the hill; with bar dim lit, family tables seating and patio seating in the sweet fall breeze. Today we went to the bar, had a few items in mind. Burgers and a pizza to snack on as appetizer / take home. Loved the ambiance and service, folks are helpful, busy and friendly. This is a great space and good hangout.

Everything is good here. But this place is more of a burger and flatbread/pizza. With a touch of bourbon! It can be pricey. Just keep that in mind!

3/14/25 Ate List: Mussels - 7.8 Nonna's Meatballs - 7.6 Motherclucker - 8.1 Such a cool spot. Removed from the thick of it, feels homey. Service was kind. Could tell our waitress was hustling. Could also sense the "younger staff" members need to learn how to really pitch in. So first, the apps. Mussels came in a very creamy white sauce. Was a unique but delicious taste. Nonna's meatballs were simple but addicting. The Motherclucker was a real star. Great sandwich. Fries were a familiar standard/texture and heat. But a good standard to have. Overall, this spot was awesome! Will absolutely be back!

I went with my best friend! We both got burgers. She got the Gearhead and I got the Gunslinger. I loved all the fresh jalapeños mine came with. If you don't like spicy I would not recommend this one for you. But the burgers were thick and delicious. The fries were also good. The staff was very nice. We can't wait to go back when the weather is nice and sit outside.

Great place. Loved the history of the place. Good food. Can't wait to come back in the summer and sit on their patio. Amazing ambiance. If you like whiskey and bourbons this is the place for you

My husband and I bought a just pay half coupon for this restaurant and decided to use it this past weekend. I have been here one other time but this was my husband's first experience and he is a tough food critic. There was no wait to be seated and our waitress appeared quickly to take our drink order. Nothing fancy for drinks, water and Diet Coke. There was music playing from a tv; oldies and my husband knew a lot of the songs. He seemed to enjoy this a lot. We decided on the spinach dip appetizer which was delicious; served with fried pita bread. I ordered the Cobb salad with chicken and he ordered a specialty burger with fries. The portions are huge. Food was delicious and my husband was very impressed with the burger. The coupon was great though we tipped on the amount before the discount.

My sister and I tried Brick and Barrel for the first time tonight! The building itself has a cute and quaint historic charm to it. It kind of reminded me of the Downtown Charleston area restaurants (minus the beach/bay). It was the perfect night to sit outside on their patio (if only I could have a glass of wine, lol). I'm happy to say we did not leave hungry! We shared the large pretzel with beer cheese to start. We both followed that with burgers and specialty fries. My sister enjoyed a couple new cocktails outside our usual box( I'm jealous, haha). I'll definitely have to stop back post-delivery for the Caramel Bourbon . This is the perfect spot for a date night, family outing, or a night out with the girls! Friendly service, tasty food, and cute/casual atmosphere - 10/10 would recommend!

The restaurant is beautiful!! I can't wait to come back and sit on the patio. The server we had was lovely. She was very attentive and quick to clear plates. Additionally, she refilled glasses swiftly as well. I appreciated that. The food was insanely good. I joked that it was too good the be located in the suburbs. No one had complaints about the food. I'm already craving the food again, and I went to dinner yesterday lol. The one negative I could think of is that there wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant, yet the food took a long time. It was definitely noticeable; however, I can't justify lowering their star count for that reason. You need to try Brick and Barrel!! It's phenomenal.

Really amazing French Fries and a perfect location. Their craft beers on tap are impressive and their wait staff are friendly. We had a large group, but they accommodated us smoothly. The fare for lunch is burgers, pizza, fish sandwiches, and salads.

Yeah this is an easy call for five stars. We thought the food was super good. I got a margharita pizza with pepperoni and spicy sauce and it was amazing. My wife got a chicken salad and my son the burger with bacon jam. Everything was tasty and the service was good. The look of this place is a great setting in the woods with an outdoor patio.

I visited Brick & Barrel Cross Keys for the first time during Pittsburgh Restaurant Week, and despite its immense popularity, I was seated immediately--no wait at all. That alone was a great start. I ordered The Barnyard Burger, their specialty duck fat fries, and what a bourbon hot chocolate from their seasonal special drinks menu. Simply put, this was the best burger I have ever had. Everything about it--from the quality of the meat to the toppings and the way it was cooked--was phenomenal. I enjoyed it so much that I returned just a week later to try another burger, The Gunslinger, along with regular fries and the Spinach Artichoke Dip appetizer. Once again, I was not disappointed--the flavors were outstanding, and everything was cooked to perfection. Of all the restaurants I visited during Restaurant Week, this was by far the best experience. The food was great, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere, an experience all on its own, really made it stand out, and I can't recommend it highly enough. If you're looking for incredible burgers and a top-tier dining experience, Brick & Barrel Cross Keys should be at the top of your list!

My favorite was the roasted onion. We each had a sandwich. The bread looks hugged but the crust is soft enough to bite into, and the bread itself very light. If I hadn't been here before, I would probably rate my Gaucho experience four stars, but this spot (I hate when people say this, and I hate when I sound like those people!) just isn't what it used to be. Dammit. I went there. I had my favorite sandwich--the braised beef. It used to have a really nice, pronounced rosemary flavor. Not so much anymore. And it used to come on a really beautiful slab (not an overstatement) of Gaucho's delicious focaccia. Now it's on an ordinary roll that doesn't stand up to that slow cooked, beef. The beef was still good and tender and flavorful, and the portion is still generous, but the sandwich overall isn't the knockout it once was. It wasn't a bad sandwich. It was a good sandwich. But it wasn't the sandwich I went for. My husband's carne sandwich was on the same ho-hum roll. (Bring back the focaccia as sandwich vehicle, guys!) The beef was flavorful with that nice Gaucho char, but it was a little chewy and hard to eat. Like my sandwich, the bread was the crime here. It was a decent sandwich, but a shadow of its former self. The potatoes...the travesty of the table were the greasy, small, overly charred flimsy potatoes. Maybe you'll remember the roasted papas from the old Gaucho days: chunky, crispy on the outside, toasty and roasty, served up in a wooden bowl. These were definitely not that. (Also, does anyone remember that old-time Strip District Gaucho bowl of corn? The best best best.) The service was very fast and very friendly. The gentleman who brought our food brought us a complimentary dish of all four chimmis--which was so nice, and they are exactly the same as they've always been and absolutely delicious. (Pimenton will always win first place for me. Slather it on a piece of cardboard and I might eat it.) Overall, our meal was fine, but I'm sad to know that Gaucho at its best is in our rear view.

Upon entering the restaurant, there are crystal chandeliers, bright colors, French posters, and a lively atmosphere. The restaurant had a lot of potential until we experienced the service and cuisine. I brought my Supper Club here, and we had a group of 8 of us. There was also a very large group at the restaurant. We were neglected on several occasions, and it took us 2 HOURS just to get our food order. That's not an exaggeration. Our waitress was rather snippy with us, and ended up apologizing at the end but it did make for an unpleasant experience. When we finally received our bread, we were so hungry that we scarfed it down despite it being not so great sour dough bread. Every dish was flavorless and left us wanting more. I had to send back the steak on two occasions: once for being undercooked and once for being overcooked. I ended up getting my meal for free. The Coquilles St. Jacques had the smallest scallops without the lovely scallop shell its usually served in. The shrimp cocktail tasted like anything you could get at the grocery store. The Nicoise Salad was just sad and flavorless. The porkchop and escargot had the most flavor. I will definitely not be back to this establishment. Our group did enjoy each other's company, and it created a very memorable experience even though it was an overall bad experience!

The seating hostess looked too casual in her jeans. The experience got better. The room contained only 16 seats so was quiet. Throughout our dinner, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. Our appetizer was Bone Marrow, which tasted very rich with toast. For the main course, my husband's 12-ounce Queen Cut Prime Rib was juicy and flavorful, especially with the accompanying horseradish, beef au jus, and Yorkshire pudding. He called the prime rib a "dinosaur of a steak," and he had leftovers to take home. My special of Lobster Thermidor was fewer ounces but was also very flavorful. We also enjoyed our sides of Truffle Fries and Creamed Spinach. For dessert the Baked Alaska was a show for both our eyeballs (tall flames of fire!) and tastebuds. We did not order any alcohol. LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.
