In my never ending quest to find the best pizza in Pittsburgh, I decided to give Badamo's a try. Many people rate this very high in the rankings. First of all this is take out only as there is no place to eat inside. I thought the pizza was very tasty. It was thin. A little floppy for my liking but the taste was fantastic. I'd heard great things about Badamo's, so I was hoping for a bit more if I'm being honest. I tried both a plain slice and a white slice. The tomato sauce had an interesting tang, but the white slice didn't have much flavor coming through at all. Both were pretty dry overall. The white pizza came with stewed tomatoes, which I felt overpowered everything else and didn't quite fit. I did enjoy the ricotta though, especially where there were larger portions of it. The crust is actually pretty unique, fluffy and airy in a way you don't see often, but it takes up a big portion of the slice since the center is so thin while the outer edge is so thick. A little more flavor in the crust would go a long way, whether that's a parmesan sprinkle, garlic infused oil, or even a stuffed crust option. I think this pizza has a lot of potential depending on how you build it. More toppings like sausage, pepperoni, basil, mushrooms, or olives, plus something like truffle oil or balsamic drizzled on top, would really bring it to life. And it does make great leftovers if you reheat it until crispy and add your own finishing touches. That said, I appreciate that they sell by the slice (Dormont really needs more of that), the location is great for a quick walk and grab, and I can see how this could be a really enjoyable spot with the right order. Best pizza in Pittsburgh, bar none. The classic cheese and margharita pizzas are super crispy with nice charred bubbled crust, EXCELLENT tomato sauce, and salty delicious cheese! I don't come to the Pitt without getting a whole pie--and that jank doesn't survive long when I'm hungry! It's as good or better than most NYC pies. I probably won't stop raving about this pizza for a while! I snagged a white pizza square and a slice of margherita. Both were FABULOUS! It was some of the closest to NY style you'll find around Pittsburgh. There is a small dining area with tables and benches. Service was quickly and friendly. As soon as you walk in the door the most amazing smell greets your nose! :) Living in Pittsburgh, I've learned there really is such a thing as bad pizza. But not at Badamos! Decided to order Badamo's to feed some hungry co-workers. Went with a large half pepperoni pizza and half pepperoni/sausage Sicilian style pizza. Also got an order of the garlic knots. Pizza was great, dough was perfect and the cheese and pepperoni were fresh. I normally don't opt for a Sicilian style pizza, but this is one that I would not hesitate to order again. Garlic knots were so so. They weren't bad, just not something I'd feel the urge to order again. Overall, solid pizza. I can see why this is considered some of the best in the burgh. read more

I had an appointment on a snowy day in February and stumbled into Badamo's on my way back to my car. It's a relatively small place, but I liked the idea that you could buy pizza by the slice or square or grab a garlic knot. All of those items were out and warmed upon ordering. Of course you can pick up a whole pie, hoagie, or other items. I was shocked at how packed it was on a Friday at 1:30. Most people were grabbing a slice, but others were coming in for pick up orders. The gentleman taking the orders was very friendly and talkative to everyone that came in or was taking a phone order. I got two slices. A margarita and a spinach feta. Both were really, really good. Solid pizza and hoagie 9/10 would recommend their Sicilian with pep and the hoagie was very good as well, a lot of onions but I liked that. Orders by phone and pizza was ready at the time they said . Glad there is a local option as my old regular pizza spot changed owners and got mid. read more

A truly awesome spot for pizza in the North Side - no seating, but they make up for it with great flavor, crust, and ingredients. My husband and I got takeout recently and tried a round pie and a few various Sicilian/grandma slices, plus some garlic knots and pepperoni rolls. We loved EVERYTHING. The hype is real and we will absolutely be making Badamo's our go-to destination for a great takeout pizza going forward! I'd recommend giving yourself about 40 minutes to an hour between placing an order and picking up, as they do get busy. The quicker option would definitely be to stop in and pick out a few pre-baked slices to go (they do heat them up!) versus ordering a whole pie, but you can't go wrong either way! This is the best Sicilian pizza you can get in Pittsburgh . The sauce has just a hint of spiciness to it , the crust is airy and crispy. They use very good ingredients.. the white Sicilian is freaking amazing . You can buy slices or whole pies . I recommend getting a slice of the red & white then order a whole pies of the one you like most or just order one of each whole pies , you cant go wrong here . All I need to say is DELICIOUS.. but Yelp says I need 85 characters, so here it goes. Definitely have to stop and grab a pizza slice and pepperoni roll if you're in the area. Even on a hot day, the pizza was 10/10. Service was good. It can be a bit stuffy in there if you're waiting though. read more

Badamo's, in my opinion, somehow managed to improve upon itself when they moved to Dormont. We'd get it from the Lebo location and it was good but since they've relocated, I actually enjoy it even more. Everything from the tangy sauce to the widely celebrated "grease cup" pepperoni, I say that with love (iykyk), to the final boss, the crust. The staff have always been so cool and friendly, it's no wonder the pizza had only gotten better. I'm happy to support them. read more

When you find one that's good, you let everyone know I was told to go here by so many of you after I posted my Lupo video and I'm happy it was worth the praise you all gave it When I first came to Pittsburgh and discovered that not every single pizza shop had speciality slices in cases I was baffled. Now this one still didn't have a shit ton but that had enough Now I'm not going to say this is my favorite pizza because it's not. In the city though, it is by far and that's for 2 reasons. The crust and SLICES The plain, sauce was solid, not too thin and a good crisp (I always ask for them extra crispy). It's not my favorite plain slice BUT it still slapped All the special squares banged. We got the pepperoni (wish they had hot honey for it). One was tomatoes, onions and ricotta. The other was ricotta, basil and pesto. The crisp was perfect, still super soft in the middle on ALL of them and the sizes were SOLID Also their ranch. They didn't have blue cheese so I got that. It had dill in it. I fucking hate dill. But I enjoyed this one a lot. If you're a dill person you'll fuck with this one heavy Inside there isn't any seating. Very very small. So you can sit on the steps like us, bring home if close or just have in your car. Either way get the fuck there. They have two locations. While being tourists, we wanted to sample some local pizza. After a bit of looking at reddit and Google, we decided to give Badamos a whirl. Its not much more than a walkup. I think my bedroom is larger. Nevertheless, this pizza was pretty great. We shared a pepperoni slice. This isnt a place where good service is expected. I liked the included ricotta and spinach combo and would likely skip adding sausage next time. The pepperoni roll was also a good snack, slightly on the doughier side. There is a standing table opposite the cashier with enough space for 4-5 people, so most folks get it as take-out. read more

Stopped in here yesterday while visiting the Mexican War Streets section of Pittsburgh. Had a slice of the Sicilian and a slice of the classic, each with pepperoni. I liked the classic better, the sauce and cheese were great, the crust had a nice crispiness to it, and the pepperoni was perfect. The Sicilian was good, but I'm just not a big fan of that style of pizza. I also had one of the lemonades, which was ok, but was more of a seltzer. Would definitely go back for the pizza. Pizza passport brought me here for first time. Super friendly employee running register and heating up the pizza by the slice (Sicilian). Enjoyed the crust most of all...crisp and airy. Garlic forward. Sitting out and reheated probably played a role in the overall experience a bit but you expect that from a by the slice spot. Definitely a good pizza shop, but it might be a tad overhyped. I didn't love it or anything, but did enjoy it. They have both round pies and Sicilian style pizzas. Not a ton of premade pizza options outside of the classics, so a somewhat limited menu. I decided to try the red pizza in Sicilian form. The red Sicilian was pretty good. The dough was airy and not too overpowering. The cheese was tasty and seemed to be decently high quality. They had the sauce on the top, which is kind of unique and almost upside down or grandma style. I honestly wasn't a big fan of the sauce and found it a little sweet. There wasn't a ton of crunch to the pizza (it's not like the Detroit style of Iron Born). But still, not bad. Their homemade ranch was pretty good but quite unique. It's got an herbal taste to it, with a nice amount of creaminess. I think the ranch saved the crust at times. All in all, decent pizza shop that might be a tad overhyped. As a Long Island, NY native, I have pretty high standards for pizza. Badamo's is the only slice I've had in Pittsburgh that comes close to pizza from home! Badamo's has a laid back atmosphere and you can see pizzas being made in the back. Service has never been an issue and slices are out pretty quick. I got two plain slices and a cup of ranch to dip. The pizza is NY-style and lives up to that description. Dipping in ranch is something I've picked up since moving to PA and Badamo's ranch is great too! read more

Yummy! We came here after a story club hour at City asylum. I was really happy to get there before they closed. I was able to order some really delicious looking pizza and I had to try the pepperoni rolls. All of it was delicious. It was super fast. It also get. We ordered it and stood around for maybe 3 minutes or so it felt like and it was already ready to go. Not bad at all. Between me and my friends we had the vegetarian slices, some cheese, and pepperoni. Pepperoni. And all of us were impressed by the crust and the taste of the sauce and the toppings that we chose. I know that it was a newer pizza place in the neighborhood and I think that it's here to stay. The food was delicious, the service was awesome, and it was a cute little shop that fit in with the neighborhood. I really enjoyed it and look forward to my next slice. read more

There are always people waiting outside for pizza. You walk in the park and there are people sitting on the bench eating pizza. This trip, after seeing it rated as one of the best pizzas in Pittsburgh, we have to get some. We arent big eaters so we ordered three slices of sicilian pepperoni. One each was plenty. I like thick crust. This was in between. Nice and chewy with lots of thin crispy slices of pepperoni. Terrific sauce. Usually I like tons of cheese. I think this pizza had some cheese, not alot. I didnt miss it. I could really taste each of the ingredients. As a matter of fact Badamos is now on my list of top 3. Little Star deep dish chicken Mediterranean pizza in San Francisco. Deschners Pizza with 7 ingredients in Mansfield Ohio and now Badamos Sicilian pizza with pepperoni. Each pizza good in their own way Nice thing is you can buy it by the slice, nicely packed up and enjoy it either in the park or by the river. This is a winner. read more
