Yesterday I called in an order to Napolli[s in Squirrel Hill for some pizza to be delivered. I requested it have ricotta cheese and mushrooms as toppers. I have ordered this before from them as well as other pizza shops. When I opened the box I was stunned. It was burnt. I mean really burnt. The crust was a big bubble and totally black. You couldn't eat it. When I called the shop the person that I spoke to said it has to be that way!!!! WHAT??? He said the pizza was already baked. Then they put the cheese on it with the mushrooms to re=bake it, in order to melt the cheese. So, it does get burnt and it can't be avoided. I have never ever heard of that. Especially since that is the way I always order it and it has never been burnt. When I tried to explain that to him he was very rude and told me the same thing over again. Sometimes you just wanna search for the right slice of the pie while that may seem easy for some I find it to be extremely difficult at times but coming here surely cured that problem for the time being. Coming here it was all about the half pepperoni and half sausage with onions all over it as that's usually my go to and the pie that I received here was seriously perfect in every way! The pepperoni was flavorful and just yummy but the real kicker was that crumbled up sausage as it was just awesome and soo yummy it made for such a good pie even more so when combined with those onions! My pizza was packed full of toppings and cheese just the way it should be the flavors were all there and the whole pizza experience made for a yummy time from start to finish. They also make their own ranch which is very yummy and added just that much more zest to a pizza that was already yummy so definitely don't forget to ask for some! This pizza shop is located right on the street so parking might be difficult but then again it's always like that in the city so you just know what to expect. Overall this was a yummy experience all around who knows if I'll ever get back here again but what I can say is that the good people of Pittsburg have an awesome pizza shop that they should totally visit if they haven't already! read more

Napoli's pizza is on par with the other two famous pizza places in Squirrel Hill. Aiellos and Mineos. They do accept çredit cards and do not charge you extra for using it. Unlike Aiellos who only take cash and Mineos who give you a cheaper price for not using a credit card. Service was super friendly and the slices we got were very good. read more

I decided to order pizza on a extremely cold night. In Squirrel Hill, people talk about Aiello's and Mineo's. What's the advantage of Napoli? Don't have to pick up, for one. Credit payment for another. I figured the best way to know the bones of a pizza place is how they do with plain cheese pizza. So that's what I got. The sauce was plenty but not too much. Had a nice tang with sweetness. The cheese was a little darker, which is something I like personally. Good crust. Honestly, the whole experience was pleasant for me. Good price for a large cheese pizza. Why not 5 stars? It's a good pizza, but since it's cheese I figured I would need to order something next time with toppings to see how it is the second time. I took my children here and ordered an xtra large pizza with pepperoni & a fountain drink. After tax & tip it cost me about $33! I took me children to the back of the restaurant (the furthest you could go). We waited forever for our pizza to come, while we waited I read books to my kids to keep them occupied. Finally my youngest who is neurodivergent started asking for pizza loudly. When the pizza came the owner dropped the hot pan on the table in front of my 5 year old (I asked for it to be brought in a box) & walked away with an attitude. The pizza crust was so thin & the cheese so greasy even after waiting for it to cool down we had to eat SOGGY PIZZA. Then I had to go get the box they didn't give me & my child kept asking to go, but I needed to box up the pizza & get my oldest. While I was boxing up the food my youngest starts saying Go Go Go loudly. The owner yelled at us about his behavior. When I told him about my sons special needs, his reply was I should've said something about that when I cane in. Last time I checked I don't need to announce a disability & get the approval of the owner to eat. And he goes on about how kids come in all the time acting up & he has to deal with it. There are thousands of people including children with hidden disabilities! As a business owner who relies on customers, kindness & good customer service should be a priority. My oldest, who is 9, left crying because unfortunately he witnessed blatant discrimination for the first time in his life against someone he loves dearly. When we got in the car he said, " I was so scared! how am I supposed to stand up for myself or my brother when things like this happen?" That's a good question! My favorite takeout pizza in Squirrel Hill. I know that is contentious with Aiello's and Mineo's down the street, but here's why: 1) they take cards. I haven't carried cash since I worked in the service industry. And who likes to spend an extra $5 just to take out enough cash for a pizza? I'd rather tip the employees that $5, which I do! 2) Great pizza. This is very important. Aiello's has a solid pie too, but the whole cash only thing is actually what brings me to Napoli instead. My husband and I have eaten at Napoli's for years now and I can't believe I've never written a review. We drive out of our way, more times than I care to disclose, just to get some pizza and a hoagie. It doesn't travel well, so we always hang out and eat it there with some Turner's Tea. If this place were any closer, I'd be fat AF. Napoli's IS pizza. Not thin crust, no deep dish, no artisanal toppings...it's a place to hang out and watch the game while you stuff your face. We have been trying many local pizza places during COVID (as a point of reference, Mineo's, Fiori's and Pizza Shack (nostalgic pick) are favorites). Of all the places we have tried, Napoli is the hands down favorite! Loved the crust, sauce and cheese, and the fact that there was a supreme pizza option, which saved some money over buying each topping individually. I love Napoli's!!! They are our go to for hoagies. I almost always order the fish hoagie but I have tried several on their menu including the italian, eggplant parm, and chicken parm. If I'm in the mood I will grab a slice of pizza. I love that they sell slices and you don't have to get a whole pie. I've had plain, Hawaiian, mushroom and several others. They do not disappoint. Seating is limited inside and it looks like what you would expect from a pizza shop. We typically call ahead to order and I pick it up. Parking is a complete pain in squirrel hill so I park at the bank across the road and run in to the pizza shop. I have never had to wait on my order- usually ready in 20 minutes. One thing to note- they do not deliver to Regent Square during rush hour. Im surprised anyone does though. Driving down Forbes at 5pm is the worst!!! This review is based on their pizza which is amazing!! I got their white pizza and added some toppings like spinach. It was delicious. Not too oily, flavorful, and just the right amount of cheese. I ordered pasta rigatoni *pre-pandemic* and idk if it was a bad night or what but it was bad. Like it had been left out for a few hours and they forgot the sauce (you know when you have left over pasta and you microwave it but it's just not ...right lol). The best part about this pasta was Napoli REFUNDED my dinner right away. I've ordered pasta from their monroeville location and it was delicious so I honestly think it was an off night. I'm including it here to show that this establishment doesn't hesitate to come up with a quick solution for their customer. When I ordered during the pandemic they were more than courteous, followed all the social distancing rules, and delivery was so fast! Ordered two pizzas. Cheese and a pepperoni w/sausage, green peppers, onions. I asked for crispy crust. The pepperoni pizza was soggy. Absolutely terrible. I feel like throwing it up. The cheese pizza was rubbery. Yeah rubbery. Like how do u have rubbery pizza. This is absolutely the first time I've used this word. Soooooooooooo disappointed. Just bad. Now, I will say this could be an isolated moment. Maybe someone is in a IDGF moment while cooking. We've all been there. But I still paid $35 for that IDGF moment. So I guess I share the blame. A friend and I ordered takeout from Napoli this evening around 6pm. My friend lives right around the corner on Beacon St. and is a frequent customer of Napoli. Given that I'd tried competitors Aiello's and Mineo's, I was curious to try this unsung hero of the SqHill pizza wars to see how it stacks up. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with a side of ranch dressing plus two bottles of Red Ribbon soda, which came to $22.50. Upon trying the pizza, I'd rate it above Mineo's and equal to or slightly below Aiello's in terms of quality. It had a medium weight crust that was neither super thick or paper thin and was crispy (I'm a sucker for a crispy crust). The sauce was bolder and more flavorful than Mineo's, and was generously portioned. There was also a decent amount of cheese, and the pepperonis were curled up, containing miniature pools of grease (grease averse pizza eaters beware). One slight annoyance was the tendency of the toppings to slide off of the pizza--every slice I took had this issue. The ranch dressing was alright but nothing particularly special; however, it made for a nice accompaniment to the crust. When my friend called in our order, it took about 20 min. to prepare, so be sure to allow ample time if you're picking up. Seating is quite limited--it's clear that they do most of their business via take out and delivery. Also, they only accept cash, so be sure to bring enough to pay for your order. Overall, a decent pizza--not the best I've had in PGH, but not the worst, either. read more

As I continue to try all of the pizza places in Squirrel Hill, I finally tested out Napoli this week. The staff was super nice when I walked in the door, and there were plenty of different slice toppings to choose from. I ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of white with tomatoes and spinach ($4.39 w tax). The cheese slice was quite good, with plenty of yummy cheese. The crust was an average thickness, but this is not a floppy slice of pizza. It was really easy to eat with my hands. I didn't care for the white slice, as I like more garlic and found their to be too much oil. That is a personal preference, though. While they do deliver, the owners were saying that it is really hard to keep up with all the business they get. But they do deliver beer, which probably is fairly popular. As I sit here enjoying my pizza I must tell you I'm a critic. I grew up in new haven ct and nyc the 2 pizza capitals of the world. This place was great! Nothing like the rest of PA. I moved to pa and had given up. The store bought sauce, the undercook dough the many things they called pizza that disappointed me turned me to a frozen pizza guy to get in my cravings for this Italian American staple in my life. The owner here should be proud. The cheese was great. The sauce wonderful and the crust perfect. The cheese slice I had was great. The slices are small, but I'm willing to fork over three bucks for two slices of plain cheese. The pizzas are on the doughy side--not too doughy, but I personally prefer a little more crispness. And since I already sound like Goldilocks in this review, I'll also say that I think the cheese is a little bit too salty, but just by a tiny margin. I often pass by this place on my way home, so I'm sure I'll keep coming back. It does the trick when I get pizza cravings. But I wouldn't go out of my way to head to Napoli if I wasn't already in the neighborhood. read more
