Finally had a chance to go here. We wanted to get only one pizza so we opted for the Drunken Meatball. I cannot say it is the best pizza I have had because different styles are all amazing. This is a unique style and I love it. The sauce was amazing, the ricotta cheese was so delicious and their meatballs were tremendous. What I loved was the crust - it had some chew and some tug; there was a little bit of char on the outside and the bottom. The meatballs were delicious and that sauce! The vodka sauce was perfect. I would have thought I would have missed the standard cheese on a pizza but the ricotta was super good. I placed my order on their website and it was easy; I was able to pay using my Apple Pay, which was a plus. We arrived and it was ready but we stood talking to the men in the shop and they were so kind. They asked us questions about us when they learned we had, recently, moved here. You will not find a more personable greeting anywhere. read more

Take out only. Free parking. Amazing chewy crust pizza with your choice of various toppings. I highly recommend their Drunk Meatball. It comes with vodka sauce, Lupe's meatballs, house cheese blend, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, and fresh basil leaves. Nicely charred crust. All cheese is blended together and piped in rosettes on top of the pizza. Tastes so good and looks amazing. Walk in the front door and give your name for pickup. To the right are a couple upright cold cases filled with drinks, salad, etc. Located a short 15 minute drive from Shadyside. Can't wait to return and try more pizza. read more

Pizza Lupo is worth whatever it takes for you to get. Literally... go... get it. We tried the buffalo chicken pie and vodka pie. Both were packed with flavor and the crust may be my favorite crust in the burgh! Authentic pizza cooked in a no flair, authentic kitchen/store front. Benefits: They have a nice parking lot next to the store, which is a huge plus down in Lawrenceville. They have amazing staff to get you in and out with your pies. read more

11/13/2025 Ate list: Pepperoni, Sausage, Red Onion - 6.7 Plain Cheese - 6.2 Second chance on this spot. Frequently featured on nearly every Best Pizza of PGH list so we felt we'd give them another shot. And frankly. I don't get the hype. I respect it but it is not the best of this "type" of pizza. It looks beautiful. Flavors are good. It's just not great or amazing. And at that, it is overpriced. 2 small pizzas at $40 w/o tip. I dont think we're coming back. This might be a top spot in the city for most, but not for us. read more

It's been a minute since we went to Pizza Lupo but I'm going through food photos on my phone to catch up on reviews. Pizza Lupo is a pretty busy and popular establishment so I'd recommend calling in your order early/first thing when they open. Maybe it has slowed down a bit but we first heard about it when we saw a reel about it on Instagram. A popular foodie was eating pizza joints. We got a grandma style of the 10th warmer and it was SO good. The toppings were well balanced, flavorful, and generous. I wasn't incredibly hungry when we picked up our pizza, which was unfortunate because I wanted to eat so much more, but it made for good leftovers! I didn't go inside the restaurant, but had my husband go inside to pick up, so I can't speak to the ambiance, but there's no seating at the shop so we too our pizza to highland park to enjoy. Hands-down, this is the best pizza in Lawrenceville. Though, I do prefer their traditional pies over the thicker crust 'grandma style'. Occasionally, these do come out a little to burn, which is frustrating, but part of the process with genuine wood-fired oven pizza. So just always check the pie before you carry out. This is a hole in the wall shop with no dine-in and they don't sell by the slice. You'll definitely want to plan your order ahead and check their hours because several days of the week they are closed and on the days they are open it's a limited business window. This is not a late-night pizza joint by any means. But for anyone who has a passion for good pizza, it's a must try! Our favorite the 10th warder is pictured below. It's got a kick! read more

I know this will be an unpopular opinion but my friends and I did not like this pizza. It was all of our first times trying pizza lupo and it was not matching the hype. The crust was burnt, and overwhelmed any other flavor. The sauce wasn't really a factor. The ricotta dollops and hot honey additions were nice but for the price, it just didn't seem worth it. read more

Pizza Lupo is easily one of the best pizza shops in Pittsburgh. Amazing crust and high quality ingredients. I tried the Drunk Meatball which was a vodka sauce pie with ricotta, meatballs, and basil. It was fantastic! Very little sauce, but not too little. And the prices are very reasonable for a "small" that is 14". However, the online ordering clock was way off and my pizza was pretty cold. There was no one waiting on a Friday at 6 p.m. but the site still said my wait would be an hour. I will definitely be back, but I might disregard the timer. There's nowhere to sit, so be prepared to pick up and go (a quick process.) read more

The hype is real here! When calling ahead and/or ordering online, be prepared for a long wait...it's totally worth it. I got the 10th Warder specialty pie - tomato sauce, aged mozz, sweet sausage, pepperoni, ricotta, hot honey drizzle - it was amazing! The crust was perfect (might be some of the best crust in town?!) and I love me some tufts of ricotta lol. I can't wait to try more of the specialty pies! read more

This place is interesting. I'm from Chicago and have lived in the NY area which has shaped what I like in pizza. This was a bit different. I actually came here twice and tried two different pizzas. There's very little ambiance. You order at a counter and it takes about 30 minutes for your pizza to come out. There's no place there to really eat. The first time, we got a made to order pizza. We got a "Large Round 17 inch" with spicy sausage, green peppers and mushrooms (pic attached). The second time, we got the "Grandma Pie, square pan pizza with spicy sausage and green pepper (pic attached" We enjoyed both pizzas. But, they weren't what I was used to when it comes to pizza (heavier on bread and lighter on toppings). Once I got used to this paradigm shift, the pizza was good. read more

One of the best pies I've ever had! The 10th Warder is their most popular and for good reason. Absolutely delicious. Fantastic pizza and I love everything about it, inside and out. The inside is nothing fancy and that's exactly the way it should be. Just a wall of ovens and everybody locked in making amazing pizzas. This place sells out on the weekends by 5-6pm and I can see why. The vodka was great and so was the plain. The gentle sprinkling of Romano cheese on top seals the deal. If you like a pizza with great crunch, but still a good chew, this is your spot. We loved just eating our pizza on the hood of the car in the parking lot to just enjoy the scenery. Also very nice staff. Just a gem of a pizza shop in every way possible. read more

Top 3 pizza ive had in my life. Best pizza in the city by far. Only takeout, takes about 20-30 minutes. Ate on the roof of Ethan's car and we were going to take a slice and eat the rest at home but we couldn't stop. I'd kill to eat this pizza again for the first time. Best crust and bread I've had on a pizza by far and they have the ratio of sauce to toppings down easily. The ricotta meatball is phenomenal, but you can also do a build your own-- Ang & I got pep, Dom's italian sausage, carmelized onions, and mushrooms and man. Phenomenal. Excited that I finally got to try Pizza Lupo and I was not disappointed! I ordered the 10th Warder and it was so so tasty. The pizza was cooked perfectly and was covered with so many toppings that it felt worth the higher price point. They also used the smaller pepperonis that curl and pool grease when warmed which I personally love. My only complaint about the pizza was too much ricotta. It didn't take away from the pie, but just not something I love an abundance of. I'll definitely be going back for another pizza try to something more basic. read more

Pizza Lupo is legit. The service was great and fast. I got there one minute early and watch the "artist" carefully dress my pie with all the final toppings. I was n town (from Los Angeles) for one day, and I am so glad I tried this place and the 10th Warder Grandma pie. It was a 10/10 experience. Every ingredient was perfectly balanced and perfect. Even their ranch, which I didn't actually need, was understated and perfectly creamy. Run, don't walk, and try this place if you haven't. read more

Ordered a large vodka sauce pizza and it was fantastic. I love vodka sauce but never had it on a pizza, so good! Hours fluctuate depending on the day of the week and I have read grandma and Sicilian are limited quantities per day? Prices are in line with other pizza places in the area. The pizza box was folded inside out which seemed quirky. I'll definitely be returning to try their other pies. It's also owned by a couple firefighters which is pretty cool. read more

Excellent pizza! One of the best in Pittsburgh for sure! We have had the vodka pizza, the drunken meatball pizza, the tropic thunder pizza, and the plain pizza. My favorite was the plain pizza, the sauce and texture of the dough is spot on, just very simple and delicious! The vodka pizza is probably my next favorite! We have only ever gotten takeout, so I cannot speak to the dine in experience. We have also had their Italian sub, which is yummy as well. Great crusty bread and meat ratio, and they have a homemade Italian dressing that's very good! Definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

Me and the fam stopped by yesterday before our flight back home to cali. We got a large cheese and pepperoni around lunch time. Oh cant forget about that turner tea. We ate about half of each and took the rest on the plane. My wife that me and the boys are crazy but it was just to damn good not to take with us. Needless to say we are now eating lunch and the pizza is still good. Not that same as eating there. But still better than the local pizza about by us. Definitely recommend this pizza read more

We live in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh and have been meaning to come to Pizza Lupo for some time now. We finally were able to get down on a recent Friday evening and took our pizza to go and promptly ate it at the nearby Highland Park. We called our pizza order in several hours before pickup as we know this place gets busy--especially on a Friday--and we also wanted to get this as a "Grandma Pie" which is also somewhat limited in availability. The staff were super friendly when I showed up and chatted me up while I waited the few minutes for the pie to be ready. It's clearly a busy operation but seems to be really well-run and lots of other people were coming in and out. As mentioned, we took our pizza to-go as they don't have any seating on-site. Even with the drive the pizza was still nice and hot when we got situated. I really enjoyed the chewy crust and thought the sauce was well-seasoned too. The toppings were generous but well balanced as well. This was a great pizza and a great experience. Would definitely come back. read more

This is hands down my new favorite pizza shop in Pittsburgh. What makes this pizza special is the crust - nice chew and texture. The ingredients on top are high quality as well. Not a pretentious or fancy place by any means but the pizzas are fantastic. I was able to find street parking close by. Being from Jersey I'm automatically a pizza snob. It's only fair and accurate because you can go to the most random spot in Jersey and it'll still be better than 90% of the spots in Pittsburgh. Since moving to Pittsburgh I've discovered that finding a good pizza spot is liking finding a unicorn. This is a unicorn. Pizza Lupo is without a doubt the best pizza I've had in the city that sucks at making pizza. The crust has a solid crunch to it, dough is fluffy throughout, sauce has ACTUAL flavor depth, it's not loaded with unnecessary amounts of cheese to hide the fact that they know their sauce/dough is garbage (Aiello's and Mineo's). There aren't any options for drinks in the refrigerator that aren't super sugary or "diet," i.e. no seltzer waters or juices, just sodas, lemonades, and sweet teas. But if you're hungry for a slice of pizza two times as large as your face, you know where you can find it!

When he grabbed the box it was kinda wet on the bottom of box so we don't know if they set it on the counter on top of something ,but it was more than just extra sauce and onions that made the soggy like they assumed. We tried to recook it and when we took the pizza out of the box all the cardboard inside of the box was wet like something had been literally poured inside the box. I could barely get it out because it was so soggy it was falling apart. We live less than 5 minutes driving time so it was not from steam and cooking it more once we got home did not help it was that wet.. I have never seen pizza that soggy. I had my son call and they did not offer anything except advice on not to order onions or extra sauce when its humid out. We would have like a re-cooked pizza and to return the one we had especially since we had company. It was too wet to pick up a slice and inedible. So, if the owners see this maybe they'd like to somehow rectify it because now I have to start my grill to feed my company. Furthermore, if a customer orders extra sauce and onions on a pizza that.we are asking to be cooked well done an your only job is to cook pizza, you should advise the customer that it won't be crisp. We've ordered it that way before.. and as I said this was far beyond just soggy it was literally wet..and the 2 that ventured to eat it ,now have a stomach ache. It was most certainly undercooked and so wet it couldn't even be rebaked.

The crust was over floured and lifeless, the cheese was missing the signature flavor pack of herbs, and the toppings were very clumped together under the cheese... but even these nitpicks- this place is a must go to! We ordered three large (and yes, that's a large large) pizzas - mushroom, extra cheese, and pepperoni. They are renowned for their thick layer of cheese with the toppings buried beneath.
