Chicken Tender Platter
Chris J.

First time at E Town! I recently heard they had chicken tenders and a fish sandwich--both of which were voted best in Pittsburgh. On this trip, I tried the chicken tenders and now I understand why they earned that title! I loved that they were beer-battered--it was something totally different and really delicious. The fries were decent, but to make this platter a home run, I'd love to see those upgraded. Maybe beer-battered fries would pair well! I enjoyed this enough that I'll definitely be returning and I'm looking forward to trying the fish sandwich next time!

This is literally one of the best tasting fish sandwiches I've had in quite sometime. E Town is a chill bar/restaurant. It's pretty quiet for a bar scene & quiet enough to be able to eat and carry conversation. The service is quick & the staff is friendly. On a busy day seating may be an issue as it's not a very big establishment. I've visited twice since posting this review. That absolutely has to tell you something! So when you think FISH SANDWICH this has to be the first & last on your list. Kudos E Town!

The menu says "Etna's Best Kept Secret, but now the secret is out, this is where you go for a Fish Sandwich. The fish is massive and the fries are excellent. The draft selection is fairly limited, but they have a couple of interesting choices. Our server was excellent and worked hard to give us good service.

The sandwich was really good. It came out super fast and was hot not like it had been sitting under heat lamps. The fries were just regular frozen fries. The server offered menus right away and even made a mixed drink that was pretty tasty as I was undecided on what I wanted. Very reasonable priced drinks and sandwich.

Fish Sandwich and Mac& Cheese.

Heard how great their fish sandwich was so I had to try it. Crisp very large. Good but had a little fishy aftertaste. Service was good and efficient. Mac and cheese good.

No covid distancing is practiced here but most are masked. I arrived on a Friday to order from their Lenten menu for takeout since their phone is forever busy. I had the fried fish sandwich with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. I also had a side of haluski. By the time I got it home, the fish was slightly soggy. The Mac and cheese was basic. The haluski was really good as it was swarming in butter. Perhaps it would have been better if I ate there but didn't feel comfortable sitting in their dining room.

Fish sandwich

Go big or go home! Pittsburgh knows a thing or two about "Fryday" fish sandwiches. Or any day for that matter. E Town serves 'em up. Not sure if the fish just swim over from Strip District or drive here like the rest of us but if you're in search of great Friday fish (mac n cheese optional), pull up here and be prepared to take some home because it'll be tasty and plentiful. Nice light batter, fried, fresh of course and way more fish than bun. You can tell this bar/restaurant knows it's game based on all the takeout orders that complement the bar & backroom seating.

Fish Dinner with Fries

Initially doesn't look like much, and if we are being honest I have driven through Etna many times never knowing it was there. When first entering everything is very clean and well kept, but beware during Lent you may want to get there early as the rush seems to start around 3:30. The inside is way bigger than expected along with plenty of takeover flowing on its way. Aside from that the service was good and the environment was very friendly. The food was good, could use a bigger fry portion but trust me the fish is enough fishing off right around $10!

Really good fish sandwich! Came with fries and coleslaw. Definitely lived up to the earlier reviews. My wife had the cheeseburger. It also came with fries and coleslaw. Very good. Staff was attentive and good. The facility is very neat and clean.

Great food. Kids loved the menu. Haven't seen my son devour a burger like that in a while. Fish was light and crispy.

We stopped in on a Tuesday night and opted to sit at the bar since it wasn't busy. Something important to note is that when we arrived, the music was playing softly in the background. While the prices were decent, the service was not. Our waitress came over to us after our appetizers arrived, I asked for a refill, we made eye contact, she ignored me, and turned around. It took another ten minutes before I was able to get a refill, and she never asked again for the rest of the time we were there. The people sitting beside us arrived later and ordered similar food to us, and they somehow received their food quite some time before ours came out. I am almost certain the bartender forgot to put in our order. Halfway through our meal (which was okay at best), someone turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. I'm pretty sure "Brandy, You're A Fine Girl" played three times in a 30-minute window. It felt like we were intruding on a private party despite there being maybe seven other people at the bar. Despite clearly being done with our food, it took us another 30 minutes to get our checks. If you're looking for cheap bar food and don't mind repetitive music at varying levels of volume and being ignored by your bartender, give Sidelines a try.

We were disappointed when it closed. On our way back from Cavacini's nursery last week, we passed by and saw that it was open! We turned around to see what was up. This space is now "The Pitch" and it is awesome! It is a place dedicated to the sport of soccer/football (hence "the pitch") much of the inside is the same, but with lots of British football/soccer swag and games on every TV. It is even cooler than the last place! Brian, one of the owners, was on hand at the bar the first time we went and so friendly and helpful and chatty. We enjoyed his company. We shared a Garlic and Rosemary Grilled chicken sandwich. It came on a lightly toasted bread. It was delightful! A nice balance and blend of rosemary and garlic flavors with spinach and tomato and a great aioli. Side of fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. The ranch dressing was the just-right creamy texture and a great mix of herbs, buttermilk and mayo ( ?) This time, ( couldn't stop thinking about that sandwich!) we brought our pup and sat in the cozy courtyard with umbrella tables, a TV for soccer games and a few outdoor games as well. Brian ( again!) came to check on us and brought water for Rooney. Our order this time was a smash burger for Todd and that chicken sandwich. The chicken was perfect, but this time it was on a small hoagie roll, which dampened the flavors, but was still delicious. Todd declared the smash burger just right medium rare. Make The Pitch a stop in Lawrenceville! You won't be disappointed in the food or the service! And if you are a football/ soccer fan, all the better. They also often are open super early for British games. "Bottom's Up!"

The first thing that hits you, literally, is the strong smell of air freshener when you walk in. It was so overpowering that I almost had to leave. We gradually got used to it but it is not pleasant. The second thing that we noticed was how untrained and stretched thin our waitress was. There was a bartender and our waitress and one cook working that night. When we asked what beers were on tap and if they had any IPAs, she wasn't sure what beers they served or what an IPA was, really. I have to say she was as pleasant as pie but dressed in a sparkly half shirt with bare midriff and tight pants with high heels, the outfit was just sort of odd for a waitress. I had to go to the bar to order another beer because she was just too busy to even notice. The California burger I ordered was cooked to the perfect medium temp and the fries were fresh and nicely salted. We could see the cook using a bowl to gently toss them in salt when they came out of the fryer. He was hustling and got the food out fairly fast considering it was just him. The avocado on the burger was fresh and perfectly ripe too. I hope the chef is paid well because he deserves every penny. Times are tough for small business owners these days. I get that. The food was good and our server was very nice. She just needs trained on the menu and the drinks/beers. And they need to get rid of that overpowering air freshener and fix the root cause of whatever smell they are trying to mask. There is real potential here with some minor tweaks.
