I wish I had a picture from my 21st birthday on April 8th 2013. One of my best friends, Roman, took me here to drink. I remember the shock of seeing the beer menu, ordering a chocolate stout, and not being prepared for it! It was a great place to drink and enjoy the atmosphere of the sports on the TV's and sitting next to the windows. I will have to come back here soon, as I haven't been back since... We stopped into Sidelines because we'd heard good things about the wings. I'm here to tell you that you may want to skip this spot. We stopped in on a Tuesday night and opted to sit at the bar since it wasn't busy. Something important to note is that when we arrived, the music was playing softly in the background. While the prices were decent, the service was not. Our waitress came over to us after our appetizers arrived, I asked for a refill, we made eye contact, she ignored me, and turned around. It took another ten minutes before I was able to get a refill, and she never asked again for the rest of the time we were there. The people sitting beside us arrived later and ordered similar food to us, and they somehow received their food quite some time before ours came out. I am almost certain the bartender forgot to put in our order. Halfway through our meal (which was okay at best), someone turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. I'm pretty sure "Brandy, You're A Fine Girl" played three times in a 30-minute window. It felt like we were intruding on a private party despite there being maybe seven other people at the bar. Despite clearly being done with our food, it took us another 30 minutes to get our checks. If you're looking for cheap bar food and don't mind repetitive music at varying levels of volume and being ignored by your bartender, give Sidelines a try. read more

What a shame. I've heard mixed things about this place's wings. I've heard they're the best and I've heard they are overrated. We were not fans in the SLIGHTEST Was dead in there around 3:30 on a Monday. Great dive bar feel. Drinking here would be good First off the fries are actually insane. Should've just gotten plates of those with the wing sauces The wing sauces were pretty solid but if the chicken itself sucks that won't make up for it. We got the Honey Cajun which didn't stick to the wings well and had to keep rubbing in the sauce. Still tasted solid and dipped the fries in a good bit. The PB&J which I always will get whenever a place offers because PB flavored wings SLAP. The Hot Garlic which is close to my go to Hot Parm Garlic, so we put the parmesan side for the fries on them If you like mainly skin/crunchy wings or a classic yinzer dive bar then check it out but we won't be returning Also I forget our waiter's name but he gave us his opinion on every sauce he did and didn't like. If you are looking for wings, look no further. Sidelines is known for their wings. After finding a spot to park on the street, we were pretty close! We walked in and looked around for a seat. The few tables u front were occupied, so we decided to sit at the bar. There was some seats in the back too, but we stayed at the bar. It is a sports bar, with tvs on every wall and a good selection of beers. The staff was very pleasant. Helped explain the different sauces that were available for your wings. This was my first visit. My friend suggested it for a quick lunch. The service was really good for a small neighborhood bar. We were greeted right away and given menus for both food and drafts on tap. I ordered some wings and a burger I couldn't decide on what I wanted. The wings were well cooked and flavorful. They come with a side of dressing or celery for a small fee. My only complaint was I ordered my burger medium well and it was more towards the medium side. I still enjoyed it as it so well seasoned. So I found this joint on Reddit when I was searching best wings in Pittsburgh. Oh my, it does not disappoint. By far my new fav wing spot in Pittsburgh. Since mid-October, I've been 4 times and brought friends. The hot garlic bbq sauce is a killer sauce and I can't get enough. I also had some fries that had curry ketchup and bratwurst on em which were so so good. The beer selection is proper and prices are where they should be for the quality you get. These wings are crispy yet saucy fresh and are perfectly cooked. I can't sing the praises enough for sidelines. Keep it up friends! read more

My friends and I had a great time at Sidelines! The service was friendly and efficient. We went to satisfy a wing craving, and the wings definitely did the job! I tried the bourbon blaze boneless wings, which were made of real chicken pieces that were lightly fried. The sauce was generous and delicious, and definitely on the sweeter side - I think the mild sauces are all very mild at this spot! While there, we noticed their Saturday hot dog deal - 2 for $11 with a side of fries and couldn't resist. We tried the Texas and Arizona dogs, which had a good variety of flavors between the chili on the Texas and chipotle/pico on the Arizona. Finally, we got garlic palm and cajun fries to share with the table, and we were pleasantly surprised by how big the portions were as we definitely could have gotten away with just 1. The cajun fries were well coated in the dry flavoring. The part was very generous on the garlic part fries, but we did not really notice much garlic flavoring on them. We were also happy to see that despite ordering fried/bar foods, nothing was overly oily. Overall, we were really satisfied with the quality and quantity of food. Visiting Pittsburgh to watch our beloved Steelers has become a tradition for my son Kevin and myself :)) What a great city. I have a family joke that goes like this... " I have 4 sons, Kevin is the only Steeler fan, he is my favorite and they all know it!" We visited this neighborhood place twice, enjoyed the wings and fries, the cheesesteak was pretty darn good as well :) They have some fun traditions for the regulars which in my opinion sets certain Mom 'n Pops apart from being ordinary. The place is all bar up front, with a handful of tables behind the bar area, and then an addition behind that with several more tables (this room is much quieter, darker with no windows, and feels a bit disconnected from the main room). They serve bar food but a lot of variety on the menu and the food is better than many other places I've been. The hand cut fries were awesome. The grilled chicken sandwich was solid - the breast was marinated and had a good flavor. We waited an hour for the food, which I would ordinarily dock them more for, but it was a concert night at Mr. Smalls. I think we hit the pre-show dinner rush, and we weren't in a hurry. read more

2 major issues here. 1 the price point even on a wing night special is almost the same as a regular night anywhere else in area. It's not really a deal more than one night a week becomes down to the competition. Bigger issue is the beer list. No prices so it's game of chance as to what applies to $4 happy hour. One would think a 3.8 Untappd rated rivertowne pumpkin ale would apply. Not only does it not...but a $9 price point when strange roots has 13 percent barleywines for $7.50 down the street. Located in Millville there is a small parking lot around back but plenty of street parking options too!. Sidelines wings are hands down in my top 3 places! Some dark haired female (Nicole) was RUDE and TOTALLTY ignored us. 4 of us had EMPTY glasses and one new person sat down with us. 20 (maybe longer)minutes, she walked by 4 or 5 times and IGNORED us!!!! Making it worse, there were not more than 10 other people at the bar AND a 2nd bartender, who eventually got me my 2nd drink but I guess he was working the back tables. I called out to JIM, the one bartender who informed me "I am off" (at 4:52) . I replied OK THINKING she would come help us ... NOPE .. TOTALLY IGNORED us! Blown away! That's the only way to describe my experience at Sidelines. This place rocked me like a hurricane. Seriously, lace up your shoes really tight because this place will knock your socks off. Since I was visiting town and didn't rent a car (I'm very green that way), I took the #2 bus to this place. It drops you off right by the bar. The lovely bartender couldn't have been more helpful answering all my questions about the beer and the wings. She started me off right by recommending I try a Cheeky Yinzer, which was described as a British IPA. The fact that I had three equals me liking it. She also suggested I try a Curious Traveler, which was also good even though I'm not a huge shandy fan. Now onto the wings...after much discussion, I went with her recommendation to have the hot garlic BBQ. Great Caesar's ghost, they were delicious! Hot enough to make my nose run, turn my face red and make my eyes water, but not so hot that I felt my lips would blister. Crispy and saucy, a true delight. I also had cajun fries which were equally awesome. When I got the check I thought there was a mistake because it was so reasonable...I would pay twice that in NYC! Oh, and their Beer Club is awesome. Have only gotten take out from here so far #Covid. I consider myself a wing guy. Lemme just say, fantastic! The Insanity wings are nice and spicy, but not in a "win a tee shirt if you eat em all" kinda way. Still great flavor. However, that's not why I'm writing this review. The Grand Old Hotpry wings are the best in Pittsburgh. There I said it. Perfectly fried wings with some spicy and crunch and light pickle flavor with pickle slices placed on top of the order. A decent but somewhat small neighborhood bar with a good amount of street parking. There are about two or three high tops up front, I long bar down the middle with seating on either side and then 4 tables in the back. There is also a side room with two high tops and a few booths. In this room there is a large projector but you'd only be able to see it if you are facing that direction. So half the people in booths won't get to see a game in this room. In the main bar area there are several TVs of various sizes and you'd be able to see one or more from anywhere you sit. It's non-smoking which is a plus but you can go to an outdoor gravel area with picnic tables outback if you like. Or just on a nice day. They have a large selection of beer on draft and in coolers in back that are self serve. I was impressed by the amount of craft beer they had available until I found out about their beer club. You basically drink 50 beers of various styles and mark them down on a sheet which is kept by the bar for return visits. After completed, you get your own Beer Club Stein. I believe after 100 you get a black stein. It's a pretty cool idea and I ticked off seven last night! The menu has a lot of bar type options but the wings seem to be the highlight. They have a couple dozen sauces to pick from. I opted for boneless wings with Jamaican Jagoff and their signature Hot sauce. The sauces were excellent but I would not get the boneless wings again. They are just thin strips of chicken with a light breading and very tough. I was disappointed by them but a friend got the regular wings and said they were fantastic. Since it was Cinco De Mayo and Saturday, they had gourmet taco $4 each or 3 for $10. I went for. Pittsburgh Gringo, Fish and Chicken. These were awesome! I grabbed an order of Fried Pickles during the game and highly suggest them. The service was my least favorite part. You didn't have just one person helping you. Basically anyone who came by would see if you needed anything or you'd just ask. It just wasn't very consistent and orders got mixed up a little. Everything worked out fine but I think one person taking care of you is just easier and more clean. Most of them were pretty friendly and attentive. One guy was fairly dismissive and gruff but hey, it's a bar. Overall this was a good experience and I think my next visit will be better with regular wings. We have been patronizing this place every Wednesday for nearly 15 years now, including take-out in the pandemic year. What started off as a group of 4 has grown to a group total of 12. On average, at least 6 of us are there every week. Our combined tabs total around $300. Over the past few months, there has been an issue with the service or actually COMPLETE LACK OF from young Nicole that led to a very heated argument with one member resulting in our groups exit last evening. I won't go into specific details here, but we will not be returning so long as she is still on Wednesday night staffing. Given that the group contributes approximately $5,000.00 to the bottom line annually, I think the owners/manager might be interested in the specifics.
