    Pride month!

Don't be fooled by the name, Dive Bar, is far from a dive. They do have a nice happy hour from 5 to 7 PM Monday through Friday (half off taps, $7 cocktails, and select appetizers on special, including an eight dollar Smashburger. For a smaller place they have an extensive menu in my opinion, with some great varied choices of sandwiches, salads, wraps apps & entrees . The location up near me in Wexford closed so once or twice a year I get to hit this location in Lawrenceville. The great part about it is that it is in what I call the quieter end of upper Lawrenceville where you can still find free parking on the street. They always have a list of unique craft beers on tap, and then of course they have lots in cans and bottles as well. They do have a full bar and they make some quite tasty cocktails. Oddly, some of the cocktails are cheaper than a pint of beer! I do find the beer pricey if it's outside of happy hour with IPAs running you $8.50 to $9.50 each. but you can get a decent cocktail usually for between 7 and 10 bucks, and a lot of places are charging $15-17 for cocktails these days. for a vegetarian option, I recommend the big fat hummus wrap, and instead of getting chips, fries, or slaw I get a side of their sautéed spinach for a dollar up charge, which is quite yummy. The food has always been good here, and the bartenders are usually always very friendly.

Came here a few weeks ago. We were looking to relax and it was sometime around around 1am. This place does serve food, but the kitchen was closed for the night. So now I know i need to come back to try out their food menu. The ambience was nice and laid back, which is what we were looking for. Our group of about 6 gathered around the bar to grab some drinks and chat. Our bartender was Becca with the awesome hair and the patience to give us a shot recommendation. She recommended the "Animal cracker" shot, which had Vanilla vodka, rumchata, grenadine. It definitely did the trick for me who was feeling like I was starting to need more food, although being a lightweight may have contributed to this . Overall, I would recommend as a place to come to at the end of your night, although if anyone has come here to start their evening please let me know. The world knows I love me some food.

Stumbled across this eatery with a few friends after we finished indoor rock climbing at a nearby establishment! And I'm glad we found Dive Bar and Grill! I was pleasantly surprised with the food! I ordered the Hometown Salad bowl with grilled chicken. Like a classic Pittsburgh salad bowl, it had delicious french fries!! I topped mine with thousand island dressing as well haha. My friend ordered the Hometown Salad with hanger steak and a Grilled Cheese with chips! You can choose up to 3 cheeses for the grilled cheese! The prices are a tad pricey for what you get. But given inflation, it's not too bad. The only thing I'd dock major points for was the service! There was only one waitress who worked the bar and tables during the off hours. We came well after lunch rush during a weekday. The food took quite a while in my opinion (over 30 mins). I'd come again! There are nearby lots for parking that are not too difficult to get to! tldr food 4/5 service 3.5/5 ambiance 4/5

We stopped here after Steelers training camp and a quick visit to the stadium. We decided to go further from the baseball and football stadiums to find something where we didn't have to wait. This was the place around 5pm on a Saturday. It got busy literally 20 minutes after we got there. We were a party of 5 and loved our server, our table, the beer, and the food! All of us would come back here again.

While on Butler Rd for dinner, I stopped in here prior to my dinner reservation for a drink... They were very friendly and greeted me instantly and I chose to sit at the bar. The vibe is pretty nice, very industrial inside but soft around the edges. They have a very interesting and unique menu that looked really good, too bad I already had previously planned dinner reservations, or I would've stayed to eat here. I opted for a cocktail and the basket of homemade chips. The chips were good, they had some sort of ranch mix spread on top which offered a little hint of salt and the texture of the chips was crunchy and good. My cocktail was awesome. The folks working here were friendly and attentive. I'd definitely return when in the neighborhood!

Stopped at the dive bar and grill before a concert with a friend. I loved our waitress , I wish I remembered her name! The fried pickles were hand breaded and the ranch was so good! I got the short rib melt which was really good and I liked they offered sweet potato tots . The Berry mojito was good too! Can't wait to come back and try more appetizers and drinks!

There is a big menu of food here, but I could not resist the brunch menu's corned beef hash with scrambled egg on top. It was a heavy meal, no surprise there, but tasty. Service from the bartender was great. I look forward to returning at some point for drinks -- the drink menu looks really cool -- and to try some other dishes.

I always have great service and amazing food and cocktails when I go! The Lawrenceville location is probably my favorite. Recently, I went and had the Ginberry cocktail which was perfectly balance and refreshing. The food is everywhere from healthy, vegetarian, comfort, or hangover food. What else could you ask for?

This is a cute restaurant that I would recommend. The floor going back to the bathrooms was extremely slippery. The service seemed a little slow especially since we were the only table in there. The food was really good. The sandwiches were bigger than I expected. We had to ask for them to cut them in half. I will definitely eat here again.

Late night bar with great service and fun! Seemed like a great place to take young adults because it had a real hipster vibe. Enjoyed a nice local craft beer. I don't remember the name, but lots on tap. The food wasn't expensive or the drinks and they had a extensive menu. We had a large party of eight and everyone enjoyed their late night eats and drinks. Definitely recommend the beer chips with pulled pork. Really delicious.

I think the name dive bar is funny because it's not really a dive bar. The food is pretty good and they have a great happy hour for food and drinks! I loved the camburger, because it had a sweet chili sauce with pineapples that added the perfect touch. I really wanted to try the Reuben rolls which everyone raves about but they were out for the day. I'll definitely have to come back for that!

It's been a while that I've moved out of Pittsburgh; I've found other bars that I like, but nothing has quite replaced Gooski's in my heart. I make a point to pay my respects every time I return here. Hardly anything has changed on the interior in the last 30 years. And I hope it never does. It's dark, it's grimy, it's smoky, it's quintessentially Pittsburgh. Crowd has always been an effervescent mix of ages and walks of life. The beer selection is wide and affordable. And the food is just right for intoxicated palates.

First, I wish I would have bought a Gooski's shirt. I have no idea if they had them when I visited but I totally forgot to check when I was there. It feels like the kind of place that if you're wearing this shirt in your hometown a Pittsburgh native would stop you on the street to tell you, "Gooski's is legendary." I wish I was there for the cheap ass drinks and edgy vibe when a band was playing as I love a punk rock vibe, but I think I was there too early in the day for that. The staff was cool, the drinks were exactly what you'd expect, and it's the kind of place that I'd spend way too much time in if I lived in Pittsburgh.

Let's get the one problem out of the way: Our only issue was that the host was incredibly cold and seemed very irritated with us, which we were not used to. We tried to joke and interact in an upbeat way, but they almost seemed to be repulsed by us and annoyed that we were talking to them. We had a reservation, so we really didn't have a choice. I suggest Spirit find a different position for that host, as good of a person as I am sure they are, they don't seem to like people at all. I am taking off a star because of the host being a complete buzzkill to the beginning of our experience. Who you hire matters! Where is 3D Mark or someone who loves to play and makes you feel like family? As for the food, five stars. We loved Chef Raf's pop-up! We loved that it felt like a beautiful combo of Spirit's pizza kitchen with Raf's high quality filipino flavors! The drinks were good. We were delighted at the vegan options and all of the cool nonalcoholic drinks. LOVE. The atmosphere was also super cool. Lots of plants, a moose horn, a bear head mascot mask thing, windows with natural light that slightly look out onto the street. It's not that big of a space in the room we were, but there's one big booth in the back that can sit maybe 7 people if you squish.

Pleasant slightly punky/alternative dive bar and music venue smack in the middle of a sleepy…read moreresidential street. I had spent a lot of time since moving to Pittsburgh looking for somewhere comparable to my old haunts (926 and Waterworks) that I used to frequent in Tallahassee. Cattivo was it. Namely, a friendly bar where you can go to dance to all the classics and weird music for sensitive, artsy types of a darkly poetic inclination, admirers of the likes of the late Anne Rice's (R.I.P.) Lestat and the crew from The Lost Boys. A place to feel the energy of '80s New Wave and Post-Punk, classic Gothic Rock, Darkwave and Industrial, and so on. The features of the first-level bar are pleasant. Quality sound system, at least two pinball machines, a digital jukebox, round bar table lined with illuminated glass tiles, and decent selection of cheap beers and standard bar cocktails at about the prices you'd expect. Bartenders are pleasantly cheery and talkative, and will sometimes cue up a series or movie on Netflix (another similarity to my former haunts of long ago that I appreciate) to provide background visuals. Much like one of the former haunts I was looking for a substitute for, Cattivo has an ambiguous and possibly vestigial reputation for being a space that attracts LGBT+ clientele. On that: a few of the reviews here are slightly old and from a time that Cattivo advertised itself as a gay bar oriented mainly towards women dating/seeking women. To my knowledge this is no longer Cattivo's "main thing", although it is at the very least queer-friendly and does still sometimes sporadically host events intended for people who date or are seeking others of the same sex. Should anyone ask, however - I have no idea at present even from hearsay what someone's chances would be of hooking up with someone or finding a one-night stand here based on their own gender and sexual orientation, or the gender or sexual orientation of who they might be looking to meet. Another review by another reviewer may be able to speak to that. The upstairs/main floor mostly hosts dance nights of the types mentioned above. The downstairs hosts a variety of events, ranging from EDM nights packed with people wearing kandi and glow necklaces to local DIY punk acts. As a result the main level/upstairs (chill and laid-back) and downstairs (always filled with a raucous din) give off two completely different energies. As a bit more of a hobbit than a dwarf, let me say I greatly prefer the creature comforts of the upstairs to the party animal attitude of the downstairs. This is clearly going to be a matter of individual inclination, however. At the moment Cattivo is open relatively limited days/hours and the kitchen is closed. That may be subject to change in the future. If this place sounds like somewhere that matches your energy, highly recommend.
