I went for brunch with a few friends!! Two of us got the el toro burrito. I subbed bacon in mine. I wish I had gotten the sweet potato tots instead of the hash browns. It was good but a little greasy. Personally I would skip the donut holes, I thought they were gonna come out with a crunchy outside but they were just soggy. The staff was super nice. We sat down right away. read more

I truly do not know how this place stays in business. I tried the fried cheese appetizer. It came out in a little basket with about 10 sugar cube size pieces of fried cheese. What kind of cheese I have no idea because it was like eating a sponge. And they cost $11.50! Then I got the taco dos-- 2 tacos that were completely unexceptional, with a side of rice and beans. The beans looked and tasted like old burned up beans that had been sitting in a steam table for hours. Yuck. Do not bother! read more

The food is good, especially the burgers. But the zucchini fries are no longer on the menu. Bummer.

The absolute BEST burger! I got the Shroom burger, cooked to how you like it and the brioche bun was outstanding! Just the right amount of umami and saltiness making it crave for more! Bartender also recommended their chicken Caesar wraps and their salads! I'll need to try those next! read more

Don't be fooled by the name, Dive Bar, is far from a dive. They do have a nice happy hour from 5 to 7 PM Monday through Friday (half off taps, $7 cocktails, and select appetizers on special, including an eight dollar Smashburger. For a smaller place they have an extensive menu in my opinion, with some great varied choices of sandwiches, salads, wraps apps & entrees . The location up near me in Wexford closed so once or twice a year I get to hit this location in Lawrenceville. The great part about it is that it is in what I call the quieter end of upper Lawrenceville where you can still find free parking on the street. They always have a list of unique craft beers on tap, and then of course they have lots in cans and bottles as well. They do have a full bar and they make some quite tasty cocktails. Oddly, some of the cocktails are cheaper than a pint of beer! I do find the beer pricey if it's outside of happy hour with IPAs running you $8.50 to $9.50 each. but you can get a decent cocktail usually for between 7 and 10 bucks, and a lot of places are charging $15-17 for cocktails these days. for a vegetarian option, I recommend the big fat hummus wrap, and instead of getting chips, fries, or slaw I get a side of their sautéed spinach for a dollar up charge, which is quite yummy. The food has always been good here, and the bartenders are usually always very friendly. read more

Went for lunch to get the smash burger special. The patty tasted like it came out of a freezer, was like a dried out frizbee. It tasted like a school lunch burger. I got the homemade chips but something very sad happened to them and they were all bunched up and nasty and i could only eat two or three. I have been here before and had the taco special and it was very good so I'm hoping it was just a bad day in the kitchen. read more

Great nachos and lots of them! Also great brunch with many options. Like the times for the brunch 11-3. Veggie burrito is good. Also nice to be able to order from the regular menu. Had great waitress. Personable and efficient. read more

Great burgers! Sweet potato "tots" were nice and crispy. We've been going there for lunch for some time now, and have not been disappointed. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. read more

Came here a few weeks ago. We were looking to relax and it was sometime around around 1am. This place does serve food, but the kitchen was closed for the night. So now I know i need to come back to try out their food menu. The ambience was nice and laid back, which is what we were looking for. Our group of about 6 gathered around the bar to grab some drinks and chat. Our bartender was Becca with the awesome hair and the patience to give us a shot recommendation. She recommended the "Animal cracker" shot, which had Vanilla vodka, rumchata, grenadine. It definitely did the trick for me who was feeling like I was starting to need more food, although being a lightweight may have contributed to this . Overall, I would recommend as a place to come to at the end of your night, although if anyone has come here to start their evening please let me know. The world knows I love me some food. read more

Way too expensive -- $25 dor a snack -- one appetizer and one beer -- The food was good. No one was in here at the time so the ambiance was alright. The service was friendly. read more

We go here because it's close. A little expensive for the food quality. Staff is nice.

Stumbled across this eatery with a few friends after we finished indoor rock climbing at a nearby establishment! And I'm glad we found Dive Bar and Grill! I was pleasantly surprised with the food! I ordered the Hometown Salad bowl with grilled chicken. Like a classic Pittsburgh salad bowl, it had delicious french fries!! I topped mine with thousand island dressing as well haha. My friend ordered the Hometown Salad with hanger steak and a Grilled Cheese with chips! You can choose up to 3 cheeses for the grilled cheese! The prices are a tad pricey for what you get. But given inflation, it's not too bad. The only thing I'd dock major points for was the service! There was only one waitress who worked the bar and tables during the off hours. We came well after lunch rush during a weekday. The food took quite a while in my opinion (over 30 mins). I'd come again! There are nearby lots for parking that are not too difficult to get to! tldr food 4/5 service 3.5/5 ambiance 4/5 read more

Wasn't expecting to be wowed by bar food, but the mac n' cheese and short rib at Dive were absolutely amazing--rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want from comfort food. The salad was a bit of a wild choice for a bar, but honestly, not bad at all. It felt like they put some real effort into it. Beyond the food, the vibe here is great--laid-back, welcoming, and exactly what you'd hope for from a place called Dive. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the service was solid. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to! read more

We stopped here after Steelers training camp and a quick visit to the stadium. We decided to go further from the baseball and football stadiums to find something where we didn't have to wait. This was the place around 5pm on a Saturday. It got busy literally 20 minutes after we got there. We were a party of 5 and loved our server, our table, the beer, and the food! While on Butler Rd for dinner, I stopped in here prior to my dinner reservation for a drink... They were very friendly and greeted me instantly and I chose to sit at the bar. The vibe is pretty nice, very industrial inside but soft around the edges. They have a very interesting and unique menu that looked really good, too bad I already had previously planned dinner reservations, or I would've stayed to eat here. I opted for a cocktail and the basket of homemade chips. The chips were good, they had some sort of ranch mix spread on top which offered a little hint of salt and the texture of the chips was crunchy and good. My cocktail was awesome. The folks working here were friendly and attentive. I'd definitely return when in the neighborhood! read more

There is a big menu of food here, but I could not resist the brunch menu's corned beef hash with scrambled egg on top. It was a heavy meal, no surprise there, but tasty. I came in a few nights ago with a group of friends and our food was great. The deep fried pickles were the best I've had in a while even compared to your Southside location. Late night bar with great service and fun! Seemed like a great place to take young adults because it had a real hipster vibe. Enjoyed a nice local craft beer. I think the name dive bar is funny because it's not really a dive bar. The food is pretty good and they have a great happy hour for food and drinks! This is a cute restaurant that I would recommend. The floor going back to the bathrooms was extremely slippery. The service seemed a little slow especially since we were the only table in there. This is an updated review for Dive 4 years later! We have been going here since I moved to Lawrenceville 5 years ago. I used to live right across the street, so we would go for happy hour at least once a week. We got my parents and other family members hooked on this place! First of all...I love that they are open Monday nights. It's hard to find a place in Lawrenceville on a Monday. The service is always great! There are definitely new servers that I haven't seen before, but our 2 waitresses were amazing. We love when Remi is our server. He is so sweet and personable. They just added a new Summer cocktail menu which includes a passionfruit mojito (SO Summer-y), and a Shark Attack drink (rum, grenadine, lemonade). Our group liked both drinks. I always get a dirty and stuffed martini (it's made with vodka instead of gin). The drinks are great and reasonably priced. We had a group of 8 last night for an impromptu celebratory dinner, and we only had to wait about 30 minutes. Our group loved the grilled bella app, the croquettes, and I like the seared ahi tuna bites. For entrees, the favorites are the Italian Job sandwich, the Professor sandwich, and roasted vegetable wrap. You can't go wrong with the sweet potato tots. I always loved the asian slaw, but last night they gave me just regular cole slaw. It was fine, but not the usual kind that I love! Everything at Dive is consistent and there is something on the menu for everyone. read more

Nothing like going to pick up takeout, still tipping like I'm eating in and finding out the order is wrong. Guess they're too hip to read their orders or I'm not worthy since I don't have an Amish beard and pirate earring. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time this has happened there with my takeout (fool me once shame on you-fool me twice, we'll...). Plenty of other joints in Lawrenceville that I haven't had this problem with so I won't get burned a 3rd time but if risking takeout here double-check and maybe you'll have better luck matey! read more

Dive has been one of my favorite local chain since they opened in 2012. Each of their locations is a little bit different, adjusted for the local crowd in terms of menu available and drink specials and Happy Hour times. The one in regent square is less crowded than others with very friendly bartenders and and a great chef. For a while in the summer it seemed like his mission to crank out one great special after another. Food: You cannot go wrong with most all on this extensive menu. The croquettes are a go to when you're nosh-y but want it to fill you up. On the light side, go for the ahi tuna. When it comes to sandwiches, my partner loves the reuben. In terms of Mac n cheese, I opt for the stacked Mac because for some reason the short rib just doesn't quite do it justice. Drinks: beer are local and regional and always changing, don't get lost in too many IPAs And the Happy Hour is just great. 5-7, can't go wrong. For other locations, like Lawrenceville, they even have a late night one. Which is just stellar Love it recommend it and will always be back! read more

Covid - 19 review Pure luck, I won a $25 gift card for Dive Bar. The space is relatively small, but they've done a great job putting space between each table. No outdoor seating. Scan menu, no shared condiments. Server wore mask. The menu is extensive, and the prices are more than fair. Our meals were ok. My ahi tuna wrap fell a little short, by hot having much tuna in it. My boyfriend had a Reuben, but it was lacking rye bread, and kraut. Pittsburgh twist was having French fries and slaw on top. Our server was really cool and down to earth. The music playing was enjoyable. Would be back but Would order different menu items. read more

This sandwich is sublime! Perfectly toasted and buttered bread, flavorful turkey breast, savory Gouda paired with nicely tart sundried tomatoes. The sandwich is HUGE and I didn't think I could eat it all in one sitting; boy was I wrong. I took one bite and couldn't stop. The fries were cooked to perfection and salted (you'd be surprised how many fries aren't properly salted). Can't wait to try the other menu items. read more

This place is pretty good! We came here after not being able to get into Pusadees Garden () but the food was actually not bad. The brussel sprouts were tasty (if a bit oily) and my salmon was pretty decent (especially for 20$!) I ordered it rare and it definitely came more medium, but that was fine. Everyone I was with also enjoyed their food (one person loved their Alabama Slammer burger and the other liked their bahn mi). The drinks were fantastic! I got a passion fruit Paloma and another person at my table got the strawberry jalapeño mojito which they loved. Is it high scale? No, but it's tasty and pretty reasonably priced. Plus they have a really big menu! read more

My mother in law got the Mediterranean wrap with sweet potato tots. Everything tasted amazing and came out quickly. Our server was friendly and very attentive. We came to Dive because it was a closest to my house and we were with a child who needed to be fed. When we entered someone was complaining about the service but that was not the case for our entire visit. we got seated right away and our server was very attentive the entire time. She filled our drinks up answered questions and was on the spot for anything that we needed. I ended up getting the Thai chicken wrap and aside of the brussel sprouts. I will say that the Thai chicken wrap was okay but I did not like the Asian slaw that it came with. I think that I needed something or was missing an ingredient to really set it apart. All I could taste was the coleslaw type mix and a little bit of sesame oil. The Thai chicken wrap what's good I think I have gotten that item a few too many times though and wanted the next time I go to change it up. I did not like the brussel sprouts. It wasn't what I expected. they were deep fried in a battered coating and then had the sauce and bacon on top of them. It was probably my fault for not reading the description correctly, but now I know. Overall it was a great time and the child in question who needs to eat ate all of her mac and cheese and loved it. And that's saying a lot since she does not usually finish her food. read more

I usually like Dive, but not this time.I ordered a Chicken Salad to be delivered through Uber Eats and it was horrible. The chicken was literally crunchy because there was a layer of gristle on the bottom of every piece. I threw all of the chicken away and ate some of the greens. Most were sad and wilty. Really gross for a $20 salad. read more

We had dinner there last night for the 2nd time. 1st trip was great. This one, not as much. It was not particularly busy, more than half the tables were empty. Service was slow and not very attentive. Server brought our waters and walked away. We had already been waiting long enough that we were ready to order drinks, apps and dinner, we couldn't catch her. It was a while before she came back. 2 of the 5 entrees we ordered were wrong. Asked to have the grilled cheese remade. I thought it would get a rush and would be out quickly. Nope, most of us were almost done with our meals before it came out. And it was not toasted golden brown. It was a pale white and not quite hot. A salad was ordered with dressing in the side, but it was drowning in dressing. I let it go. There was no discount on the bill. No apology for the error, even acknowledgment of it. But, I think the disappointing aspect was how long we waited for the sandwich to be remade. It was uncomfortable eating in front of someone that did not have food. read more

Glad to say the Dive Bar made it through the Covid Lockdown. I've been here many times but haven't reviewed since 2018. Parking on the street was easy and this place is not a Dive. Visited this week and the Dive is alive. Consistently good food and drink. Bonnie is at the bar and on the weekday I was there served both the dining room and bar with efficiency, and it was busy. Take Out kept the place going through the many changes in Allegheny County protocol before dining and drinking returned to "normal". Tasty selection of drafts available in a range of AVB. Sadly the chorizo stuffed, bacon wrapped dates are no longer on the menu. But the pulled pork croquets remain as delicious as ever. read more

Came here for happy hour on a weekday. Ambiance - casual. Street parking. Good for a later in the night place. Happy hour - 5-7 weekdays and late night Saturday. Is a pretty good food deal with half off the first page if their menu (mainly apps and sliders). As well as $4 house wines and $2 off drafts. Food - decent for bar food. We had the zucchini fries which were great for sharing. Fajita quesadilla was tasty- nothing special. The pork sliders were just eh. Panko shrimp also standard tasty bar food. House wine tasted like it was $4 so that was my own fault for ordering that. Good beer selection Overall good space and good service with standard bar food. Several visits for lunch: The kitchen is amazing, and the bar team is amazingly warm and friendly. You're missing a bet if you haven't given this house a try. Excerpts from our personal notes across several visits: Fried criminis: Excellent. Very classic, probably archetypical. Panko shrimp: remains top-notch. One of the best. Zucchini fries: cut like french fries. Battered. Quite good. The croquettes are what I want my potato pancakes to be. The pulled pork on top of them is fantastic. The chicken wings are excellent. The fried shrimp may be the universal standard of what fried shrimp are meant to be. Absolutely top-notch. Tuna bites were excellent. Seared rare tuna. read more
